How to announce your coaching business on linkedIn
If you’ve been wondering how exactly you should announce the starting of your business on LinkedIn, this episode is for you. I was asked this very specifically this week, and I realised that it was a question that people ask me in lots of different ways so I wanted to capture my thoughts here. Many coaches get a bit hung up on doing this “right,”which usually results in not doing it at all, or perhaps sneaking it in and not capitalising on the business potential that comes with an official launch. So if you are about to make the leap and make the announcement, or think you might need to re-introduce your business, I hope this is the practical help you need to take action. If you’d like to discuss whether the Corporate to Coach Accelerator could be a good move for you as you launch your business, you can book a call here: http://elliescarf.com/bookacall
How do I narrow my offers when I could do practically anything?
If you’ve ever felt like you could offer everything as a coach but don’t know where to focus, this episode is for you. I discuss why having too many offers can hold your business back, even when you have the skills and experience to deliver a wide range of work. Saying yes to everything often leads to overwhelm, unclear messaging and makes it harder for clients to understand how you can help. Instead, I share why refining your offers down to a few core areas is more effective, along with four simple questions to help you decide what those offers should be based on your preferences and market demand. If you’re ready to grow your coaching business with clear offers and a consistent flow of corporate clients, you can learn more about the Corporate to Coach Accelerator at elliescarf.com/cca or book a call at elliescarf.com/bookacall to explore whether it’s the right fit for you.
Are you trying to sell a vitamin or a painkiller?
If there’s one idea that can make selling your services to corporate clients significantly easier, it’s this: It’s easier to sell a painkiller than a vitamin. In this episode, I unpack what that means for executive coaches and why you might struggle to gain traction with your offers., Not because they aren’t valuable, but because they’re positioned around potential future gains and achievements instead of solving current challenges. Listen in for my take on how you can use this idea to make your offers sales-ready. Plus, I share a personal example of where I got this wrong and what it taught me about marketing my offers more effectively without changing the work itself. If you’re ready to grow your coaching business with more structure, strategy and consistent corporate clients, you can learn more about the Corporate to Coach Accelerator at elliescarf.com/cca or book a call at elliescarf.com/bookacall to explore whether it’s the right fit for you.
Your 30 minute Q2 strategy
If there’s one planning interval that I really love it’s quarterly planning. You can achieve something meaningful and significant - but it isn’t overwhelming. What I see for many coaches though, is that this is exactly where things start to drift, somewhere between big annual goals and the reality of day to day work. In this episode, I walk you through an ‘essentials-only’ quick and dirty simple six step process to reset, refocus and move into your next quarter with what really matters front of mind. From reflecting on what’s worked and what hasn’t, to reviewing your sales data, recommitting to meaningful targets, and identifying the key priorities and blockers that will truly move the needle, this approach is intended to be practical and to fit amongst a real life and a real business. If you’re ready to grow your coaching business with more structure, strategy and consistent corporate clients, you can learn more about the Corporate to Coach Accelerator at elliescarf.com/cca or book a call with me at elliescarf.com/bookacall.
If you do nothing else to grow your coaching business, do this
If there’s one action that consistently leads to new coaching opportunities, it’s warm outreach. Yet it’s also the task many coaches delay the longest. In this episode, I explore not only why warm outreach is your biggest opportunity, but also why it is so often avoided. To help you move into action I’ll share what we have been doing inside the Corporate to Coach Accelerator this month to prioritise and embed outreach as part of your business plan, and the results that we are seeing already. If you’d like support growing your coaching business with more corporate clients, including building a warm outreach strategy that works, you can learn more about the Corporate to Coach Accelerator at elliescarf.com/cca or book a call with me at elliescarf.com/bookacall.
My advice to a friend starting a coaching business today
Prior to building business plans and hanging out your shingle comes a big (the biggest!) question in your business journey. Are you suited to being in business? And is it a path you should go down? Being in business is sadly not for everyone. It requires more than just loving coaching. It asks you to embrace a dual identity of coach and CEO, and a willingness to tackle challenges you can’t anticipate. In this episode I walk you through the green flags, the red flags, and the key willingness factors that will shape whether business ownership is right for you. Do your proposals win or lose clients?
In this episode, I’m talking about proposals, and specifically why they matter so much when you’re working with corporate clients. Proposals aren’t just a document you send after a conversation. They’re an asset. They create shared clarity, they build trust, and they’re often what gets circulated internally when your sponsor is trying to get funding or buy-in for the work. So the way you put them together really matters. Listen in as I walk through some of my key tips for your proposal writing process. If you’d like support building your corporate coaching business, including strengthening your proposals, offers, and sales conversations, let’s talk! Ask Me Anything episode! Outreach, confidence and visibility!
Every now and then, I like to gather a selection of questions I’ve been asked and share an ‘ask me anything’ style episode. So buckle in while I talk through the issues that are on your mind. In this episode specifically we are looking at some fundamental topics. We dive into a challenge almost every coach will have to grapple with - namely, how to approach outreach when it feels awkward, including practical strategies to build consistency and realistic expectations around what actually converts. I was also asked how best to share our corporate work (such as testimonials and success stories) in a way that builds credibility without feeling braggy. And I’ve been asked this one quite a few times - what is the difference between legal contracts and coaching contracts in organisational coaching work? The last topic I cover is a conversation about visibility, including having professional photos taken and why they might help in more ways than having a bank of images for websites and socials! If you have a question you’d like to answer in my next AMA episode, please do get in touch on LinkedIn or drop me an email! If you’d like deeper support building a sustainable coaching business with more corporate clients, you can learn more about the Corporate to Coach Accelerator at elliescarf.com/cca or book a call at elliescarf.com/bookacall to explore whether it’s the right fit for you. Could “boring” be your next business strategy?
In this episode, I’m unpacking the subconscious expectation many coaches have, that our business should deliver not just income and meaning, but also excitement and novelty. The challenge is that when we start chasing dopamine through new ideas, offers, or strategies, we often lose consistency with the fundamentals that actually grow a coaching business.Things like outreach, conversations, and showing up visibly over time may not always feel exciting, but they are what support sustainable success. If you’ve noticed yourself getting pulled towards the next shiny idea, this episode will help you rethink what your business is really all about, and how to create your excitement outside of it. If you’d like support building a consistent, sustainable coaching business with more corporate clients, you can learn more about the Corporate to Coach Accelerator at elliescarf.com/cca or book a call at elliescarf.com/bookacall to explore whether it’s the right fit for you. How to use AI without ruining your content (and your connection)
In this episode, I’m touching on a new challenge that those of us with a presence on LinkedIn are experiencing. We have all loved the potential upsides of AI, but if you are like me you have started to feel uncomfortable with AI taking over your voice, and realised that it is very difficult to take it to a level that feels sufficiently human and that captures your way of expressing yourself. So today I’m exploring how you can use AI in your content without losing your voice or your connection with the people you want to reach. If you’ve been unsure how to use AI without sounding it eroding your credibility and your connection, this episode will help you rethink how you work with it so your content still sounds like you. In this episode, I’m exploring outsourcing and how it can be a strategic lever for executive and leadership coaches. Outsourcing can free up time, energy and mental bandwidth, both at work and at home. This can include a huge range of tasks, from household tasks to admin, bookkeeping, marketing support and smart systems in your business. I also share some less obvious ways to outsource, including accountability, discipline and decision-making, and how outsourcing to acquire the right tools and support can speed up your learning curve. 4 ways to get re-inspired for 2026 if you’ve had a rough start.

We aren’t diving into big existential questions about whether you should be in business at all, instead this conversation focuses on normalising those moments of doubt and offering practical ways to reconnect with why you started and where you’re heading next. So what do you actually do? A new take on the elevator pitch. Best Of Series!
In this episode, I wanted to share with you one of the most popular episodes from the last year. This episode is a favourite because it addresses a question that makes many coaches cringe: “So… what do you actually do?” If networking, referrals, or informal conversations play any role in your marketing, how you answer this question really matters. In this episode, I explore why traditional elevator pitches often feel awkward for coaches. Most of us really deeply value service and humility, which can make self-promotion uncomfortable. As a result, we either over-explain our work or downplay it, leaving people unclear about who we help and when to refer to us. I share a simple, stress-free alternative to the standard elevator pitch. If you want a clear, comfortable way to answer “what do you do?” and open the door to more meaningful conversations and referrals, this episode is a great place to start. Listen in and let me know what you think! If you’d like feedback on your own soundbite, feel free to share it with me on LinkedIn. The Outreach Myth - It’s not ‘salesy’ if you get it right. Best Of Series!
Outreach is one of the most powerful ways to grow an executive coaching business and also one of the most misunderstood. In this episode, I wanted to revisit one of the most popular and practical conversations from the podcast this year, focusing on a topic that consistently comes up for coaches working with corporate clients: outreach. More specifically, I explore what I call the outreach myth, the fear of being perceived as salesy, pushy or misaligned with your values. I unpack why this fear is so common among coaches, how it shows up and practical ways to approach outreach differently. If outreach feels heavy, awkward or out of alignment for you, this episode will help you rethink how you approach it and move forward with more confidence and clarity. Rather than staying at a high-level or getting lost in vague intentions, this conversation is all about the nuts and bolts of what actually belongs in your strategy if you want a business that is sustainable, profitable and aligned with the way you want to work. I walk you through the eight key areas to review and plan for, including your offers, pricing, revenue mix, business development, marketing, financial management, systems and support, and your own professional development. Along the way, I share why starting with reflection and acknowledging your wins matters just as much as setting new goals, and how clarity in these areas can make planning feel far less overwhelming. Keep these 3 things front and centre when building your 2026 plan
As I map out my plans for 2026, I have been thinking about how quickly we jump into revenue targets and marketing tactics without asking an equally important question: Does my business actually support the life I want and the impact I care about? In this episode, I talk about the three priorities most coaches bring into business: financial security, meaningful work and the flexibility to live a life that truly fits. These intentions often fade into the background once planning begins, so I share how to bring them back into focus as you shape your strategy for the year ahead. If you are ready to plan for your 2026 business goals with life in mind, this episode gives you a great starting plan. Rethinking reflection - the best way to start your 2026 planning.
Planning brings its own kind of energy. There is the excitement of shaping a strong strategy for 2026 and the reality that looking back over the year can be difficult Many coaches would rather stay in the dreaming stage than revisit what actually happened in 2025, especially if we tend to jump straight to what did not go perfectly. This episode invites you to approach reflection in a way that feels lighter and more purposeful. We explore why acknowledging your progress matters, how your subconscious responds to what you celebrate, and why your assumptions about the year often differ from what the data reveals. I’m also sharing four practical prompts designed to guide your review of 2025. These questions help you recognise the wins you may have overlooked, balance out the negativity bias that naturally appears, clarify what you have learned, and understand where your clients or opportunities actually came from this year. It is a simple and coach friendly process that supports you to plan for 2026 without the hustle energy, while still giving due attention to the insights we need to process (positive and negative) for 2026. 5 things high income earning coaches do differently to grow their client base
High income earning coaches aren’t working harder (I promise!). But they are working differently. In this episode, I share the five specific strategies I’ve identified that set them apart, and they’re all things you can start applying right away to create more momentum in your own coaching business. What we cover: ✅ Why the most successful coaches sell to corporate clients instead of individuals. ✅ How they see LinkedIn as just one part of the ecosystem, not the whole picture. ✅ The importance of leaning into unfair advantages and personal networks. ✅ How systems save time, energy, and reduce the emotional weight of business development. ✅ Why daily warm outreach is the backbone of consistent client growth. I also share two exciting updates:➡️ A free live masterclass, The Business Growth Playbook for Executive Coaches: Your Pipeline to Consistent Clients, happening on October 21st (October 20th if you’re in the US). A smarter way to build your client pipeline without burn out
If you are a coaching business owner, you probably want more corporate clients. But, the gap between that goal and where you are now can feel very hard to bridge. This gap often shows up in two ways. You might overthink and overwork on tasks that just don’t have the impact you want, or you might procrastinate because it all feels scary and high stakes. Both create stress and emotional labor that make activities like posting on LinkedIn or connecting with potential clients feel heavy. Inside this episode, I share why this happens, and some practical steps to create a consistent client pipeline. Listen in to hear more about: ✅ The overwork vs. procrastination cycle and how it shows up for coaches. ✅ Why you instinctive responses don’t work. ✅ Three strategies to bridge the gap. ➡️ And if you’d like a deeper dive, join my upcoming masterclass - The Business Growth Playbook for Executive Coaches. Sign up now at elliescarf.com/pipeline. You’ll walk away with a clear, tailored framework for building your client pipeline with confidence and clarity. As always, I’ll be back next week with more practical tools and strategies for growing your executive coaching business. Why i'll never suggest cold calling to grow your coaching business
When it comes to business development, outreach is a hugely important part of your strategy. Over the last few episodes, I’ve shared why warm outreach is so powerful and how the fear of being ‘salesy’ often gets in the way. In today’s episode, I explain why I will never be the business coach who tells you to do cold outreach. Cold calls, cold LinkedIn DMs, and mass cold emails rarely work for executive coaches selling to organisational clients. Instead, I’ll walk you through why warm outreach is more effective and how it creates trust, momentum, and a more sustainable system for growing your business. Listen in to hear more about: ✅ The difference between cold outreach and warm outreach ✅ Why cold outreach rarely works in the organisational client context ✅ How warm outreach can lead to higher response, higher conversion, and stronger motivation ✅ The ripple effect warm outreach has on your content strategy and network growth To make warm outreach easier, I’ve created 30 client generating outreach templates for executive coaches. These message examples are completely free and give you practical ways to start conversations without staring at a blank screen. ➡️ Grab your copy at https://www.elliescarf.com/templates➡️ Book a call with me to explore how we can grow your business together➡️ Connect with me on LinkedIn I’ll be back next week with more practical ideas for growing your coaching business.
The Outreach Myth - why its not ‘salesy' if you get it right
As it turns out, the biggest blocker to outreach isn’t time, strategy, or even knowing who to contact. It’s fear, specifically the fear of being (or feeling) ‘salesy’. In fact, when I ran a LinkedIn poll, 70% of coaches said this was their number one concern. That fear shows up as discomfort, as overthinking every word of a message, and as procrastination that leaves outreach undone. And still, outreach is not optional if you want to grow your business. Inside this episode, I share why this fear is so common, how to work through it, and the mindset and systems that will help you do outreach without it feeling out of alignment with your values. Listen in to hear more about: ✅ The tension coaches feel when outreach feels “push-y.” ✅ How perfectionism and fear keep you stuck in avoidance. ✅ How outreach can grow your business if you do it consistently. ✅ Ways to view rejection so it feels like part of your growth. ✅ A free set of 30 outreach templates to get you out of overthinking and into action. Even if only a portion of your messages get replies, you’ll be building conversations, creating opportunities, and moving your business forward. ➡️ Grab your copy of the 30 customizable outreach templates at elliescarf.com/templates and start sending messages without the overthinking. Why executive coaches struggle to book clients beyond initial referrals (and how to fix it)
Do you remember the excitement of hanging out your virtual shingle? Maybe it was launching your website or a LinkedIn update saying that you are in business. Maybe you are on the verge of doing this! And suddenly what felt like momentum started to feel like waiting, hoping, and refreshing your inbox. Inside this episode, I share why referrals are fabulous for getting started but not enough to keep you consistently bringing new corporate clients in the door, and what to do instead. Listen in to hear more about: ✅ The wake up call coaches face when referrals dry up. ✅ How to shift from passive to proactive client generation. ✅ The mindset every executive coach needs. ✅ How outreach is the missing link to build more real business development conversations. ✅ A free resource with 30 customizable outreach templates to help you take action instead of getting stuck in perfectionism, procrastination or fear of being ‘salesly’. If you can spend even 10 to 15 minutes a day on outreach, at the end of the month you will have a very different business with so many more conversations. This tool will help you do just that - with no overthinking. ➡️ Download your free outreach templates at elliescarf.com/templates and connect with me on LinkedIn to let me know what you think.

Should you sell coaching to individuals? My hot take.
Of all of the clients who come through my metaphorical door, about 70% come with a particular experience. They have been attempting to sell coaching to individual leaders. They are not getting the traction they want.. They know that there is an opportunity to sell to corporate clients, but pursuing those seems overwhelming.. In my opinion, the solution that I generally see work? Rip the bandaid off, stop selling to individuals and prioritise selling to corporate clients.. Inside this episode, I talk about: ✅ The vast chasm of total budget spend on coaching by organisations vs individuals. ✅ The mismatch between the number of coaches targeting individuals and the small percentage of coaching spend they represent.✅ Reasons why it seems sensible to target individuals (but isn’t!). ✅ What changes when you shift from marketing to individuals to marketing to organisations. If you have been focusing your marketing energy on individuals, even just as a fallback, this episode will show you why it is time to pivot. Listen in. Reflect honestly. And if this hits home, book a call with me at elliescarf.com/bookacall. We can talk through how to make this shift inside your business. You can also connect with me on LinkedIn.
