Ep 448Ep.496 ~ The Man That Changed How We Do Business Today ~ Richard Koch, author of 'The 80/20 Principle'

~ High-Performance Entrepreneurship ~ Thirteen years ago, I came across a book that I had no idea would change my life as much as it has. That book was called The 80/20 Principle. I read it, and immediately applied what it said to my life seeing results in a matter of a few days. I continued to apply the method as much as possible throughout the years using it in both my business and personal life. Little did I know 13 years later, I would be so fortunate enough to interview the author of the book. Richard Koch is our guest today and we are going to dive down the 80/20 rabbit hole with him on what this method is, and why it actually works in all areas of life. How you can use it as a superpower to generate significant amounts of money, and be happier, healthier, and maintain better relationships. Richard himself is a very successful entrepreneur, investor, & consultant working on and investing in hotels, restaurants, the distilling industry and the internet gaming industry as well. Richard has used the 80/20 Principle to make a fortune from several private equity investments and “retiring’ by the age of 40! 04:00 Who is Richard Koch? 05:08 Defining the 80/20 Principle 14:42 The Evolution of the 80/20 Principle 26:51 Applying the 80/20 Principle in Marketing 32:12 Applying the 80/20 Principle in Team Management 37:44 Seeing the 80/20 Principle in a New Way Through Network Businesses 44:53 Who Does Richard admire for Using the 80/20 Principle Well? 50:27 Where to find Richard Koch? Ep.493 ~ Dissecting the Art of Impossible w/ Steven Kotler

Steven Kotler ~ Author of The Art of Impossible ~ High-Performance Entrepreneurship ~ I am going to start this podcast introduction from some passages at the end of a book our guest today has recently written. “What impossible challenges would you tackle if you knew you could be 500% more productive? If you could be 600% more creative? If you could cut your learning times in half?” If you could increase your confidence massively, and also spike the pattern recognition significantly in your brain. I know it sounds like the drug that everyone has dreamed about for centuries to make people feel limitless, and superhuman. But it is not a drug. It is a biological process that nature has embedded into each and every one of us, and we don’t need to be a professional athlete or naturally talented to access it. What is it and how does one access it? We are going to talk about that in today's podcast because the author has written a book that dissects how one can reach this state to achieve what humans think is impossible for themselves. The book is called The Art of Impossible. The author and today’s guest is Steven Kotler. Steven is a NYTimes Bestselling Author of numerous books including The Rise of Superman, Bold, Abundance, and my favorite read of 2018 Stealing Fire. He is the founder of Flow-State Collective and is an expert in the field of peak-performance, and achieving the impossible because he has studied individuals who have done this numerous times. Some of those people are well known top-athletes, SpecialOps members, NavySEALS, and some of the world’s top entrepreneurs and innovators. He himself has also been a guinea pig to his own madness, and practices on a regular basis what he preaches. This is Steven's second time on the podcast, and we are going to get behind the man that has studied for years the art of achieving the impossible, why he wrote this book, and how we can apply this methodology to achieve the impossible in our own lives. 04:51 Who is Steven Kotler? 05:46 The Art of Impossible 10:32 The Formula of Impossible 14:55 Using Flow States to Achieve the Impossible 23:05 Flow Neuroscience 26:34 The Essentials of Motivation 29:14 Passion Neurochemicals 33:55 Flow States > Orgasms 35:16 Beta State of Mind 42:01 How Risk Taking is Encouraged by Our Brains 43:10 Goal-Setting 53:16 Where the Brain Finds Inspiration 56:37 Avoiding Burnout 01:06:35 Accessing the Subconscious Mind Easily 01:17:40 How Peter Diamandis Achieved the Impossible & How You Can Too 01:21:47 Where to Find Steven Kotler? Contact Info: https://flowblocker.com The Art of Impossible on Amazon Subscribe to the Podcast: Website: https://www.thebusinessmethod.com/art-of-impossible Apple Podcasts: http://bit.ly/TheBusinessMethod Google Podcasts: http://bit.ly/TheBusinessMethodGooglePodcasts Spotify: http://bit.ly/SpotifyTheBusinessMethod

Ep.483 ~ 7-Days in Complete Darkness w/ a Brain Scanner

Today we have a very special episode for you. Recently, a couple good friends and I decided to travel to the south of Mexico for a 7-Day Darkroom Retreat! What is a Darkroom Retreat you say? Good question, because just a couple months ago, I had no idea myself. I was listening to a podcast a friend recommended about this guy who also did a Darkroom Retreat. Basically, it is 7-days in complete darkness and isolation designed for deep reflection, meditation, visualization, visioning, and diving into the depths of our mind! Monks and native tribes all around the world have been using this type of practice for thousands of years and it is uniformly considered to be a technique that can help people overcome trauma, psychosis, understand vision quests, challenge themselves, deepen their spiritual practice, and understand the inner workings of their psyche, and universe better. It was no small feet, and all of us that went met challenges that we didn’t expect. We did, however, want to do this Darkroom Retreat a little differently than others of the past. We brought along a top-of-the-line brain scanner that reports a direct measurement of our brain functioning including the EEG brainwave patterns, our brain reactiveness, coherence, cognitive processing & abilities, our visual control, heart rate variability, & the functioning of our autonomic nervous system. This also includes the different frequencies of our alpha, beta, theta, & delta brainwaves, & the synchronization of your brain and heart frequencies. This machine read the health of our brains before we went into the darkness, and how the darkness affected our brains through the process. What were the results you ask. Well they are pretty amazing, and you’re going to have to listen to the podcast to find out! We’ll see ya on the other side! 13:04 Brain Scanning Before Entering the Darkroom 16:09 The Days Before the Darkroom 20:05 Entering the Darkroom! 28:33 Darkroom & Improving Sleep 30:34 Day 2 in the Darkroom - Insights & Imaginary Conversations 32:39 The Island Theory 35:43 Moving From Light to Darkness Our Entire Lives 38:40 Day 3 in the Darkroom - Visualizations Begin 57:30 What Do We Really Need When We Lose Sight? 1:08:24 Day 4 in the Darkroom - Meeting God and Dark Spirits 1:09:55 Using the Bathroom in the Darkroom 1:25:23 Expressing to the World What is Inside of You 1:29:37 Day 5 in the Darkroom - The Purge 1:41:50 Day 6 & 7 - Everything Coming Full Circle 1:53:44 The Biggest Epiphany of All 1:56:47 Emerging From the Darkroom 2:02:48 My Biometrics While in the Darkroom 2:04:31 Brain Scan Results of the Darkroom 2:13:41 Random Q&A Honorable Mentions & Contact Info: Aubrey Marcus’ Podcast Episode About the Darkroom: https://www.aubreymarcus.com/blogs/aubrey-marcus-podcast/sss Leon J. Ep.482 ~ One of the Most Powerful Women I Know  ~ Veena Sidhu

Veena Sidhu ~ Founder at Dream Catcher Enterprise ~ Current Series ~ 100 Interviews with 100 Major Influencers Have you ever seen someone walk in the room and just by their charisma, and their energy they captivate everyone else. I once heard about the International Grammy Award winning singer Rihanna. People said even when she was young she would just walk in a room, and she would captivate everyone. When I see someone like that, my first thought is, ‘Who is that person? and “How can I meet them.? I know for many people it can be kind of intimidating to attempt to connect with that person that everyone is noticing, but for me my mindset is, “I want to understand the charisma that person has, and I want to put that person in my friend circle.’ Today’s guest is that person. I first noticed her at a business conference on an island in Croatia full of very successful entrepreneurs, and thought leaders. There were a couple hundred people there, and her charisma seemed to be everywhere. I thought to myself, who is that person, and I want to meet her!” and so I did. Not surprisingly she turned out to be a powerhouse entrepreneur, and one of the most successful women I have ever met. Her name is Veena Sidhu, and she is currently the founder of Dream Catcher Enterprise, where her company helps 7-figure businesses scale to 8-figures and beyond through systems, processes, and marketing, but that is really just scratching the surface of who she is. Throughout her career, Veena spent a significant amount of time working with and building Mindvalley, one of the world’s largest personal-development companies. There Veena was the co-founder and CEO of Mindvalley’s external affiliates and partnerships startup, which grew from $250k a year to $2.5 million in the first year, and $4 million in the second year. Her third year at the company she was made Senior Partner of Mindvalley group of companies, and led as Director of Sales and Publishing. She also helped launch its former course platform — Mindvalley Academy, and oversaw operations of multiple other teams including Content Marketing, Course Creation, Technology, Apps, and Events. Vishen Lakhiana, the founder of Mindvalley said “Veena is one of the singular best people he brought into the company!” Currently, in addition to running Dream Catcher Enterprise, Veena works with the government of Malaysia on multiple projects. 02:20 Who is Veena Sidhu? 04:49 Working With Mindvalley 07:08 Choosing Joy 17:21 Changing Habits 20:02 Changing Your Mindset 24:25 Veena on Her Passion & Energy 30:02 The Impact of 2020 35:03 Never Burn Bridges 41:46 Why Self-Education is Vital For Entrepreneurs 50:46 Daily Routines 56:22 Final Tips 58:11 Where To Find Veena Contact Info: https://www.veenasidhu.com/ Website: https://www.thebusinessmethod.com/veena-sidhu Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-business-method-podcast/id1069958541?mt=2 Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/?feed=aHR0cHM6Ly90aGVidXNpbmVzc21ldGhvZC5wb2RiZWFuLmNvbS9mZWVkLnhtbA%3D%3D Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2q8Q9t78sCL6kNkWlnV1Po

I am going to answer that question by quoting a passage from Greg’s book. “Now let me ask you this: have you ever found yourself stretched too thin? Have you ever felt both overworked and underutilised? Have you ever found yourself majoring in minor activities? Do you ever feel busy but not productive? Like you're always in motion, but never getting anywhere?” I think guys, that relates to pretty much everyone. We have all been there multiple times in our lives. Ep.474 ~ The Story of Summit Series & Buying a $40 Million Mountain ~ Ryan Begelman

Ryan Begelman ~ Co-Founder of Summit Series & Biznow Media ~ Current Series ~ 100 Interviews with 100 Major Influencers Ryan Begelman is the cofounder of Summit Series and the former CEO and co-owners of BizNow Media. In 2008, Ryan bought into Bisnow Media, became CEO, and bootstrapped it with its founders, Mark and Elliott from $1,000,000 to $20,000,000 in revenue with $7,000,000 annual profit. In 2016, he led the sale of Bisnow to a private equity firm for $50,000,000 and today, Bisnow is the largest producer of commercial real estate news, conferences, and webinars. Bisnow's now has 80 employees operating in 28 metro markets and hosts over 300 annual conferences attracting more than 70,000 attendees. I first learned about Ryan when I read Steven Kotler’s book Stealing Fire. In the book they tell the story of 3 young guys that want to rub shoulders with giants and how they got there. Ryan and his buddies came up with an idea to host a ski trip for some of the world's top entrepreneurs and thought leaders. Nineteen people showed up and thus started what is now called Summit Series. Summit Series began as an event series with a mission to unite world leaders through events designed to catalyze positive personal and collective growth. They gather leaders and feature icons like Jeff Bezos, Richard Branson, Jessica Alba, and Al Gore. I thought that idea was really creative and smart, but then as when I learned the next part of the story was one of the boldest, smartest, most genius moves I had ever heard of. After creating Summit, Ryan and his friends decided they wanted to take their ‘community building’ to the next level and buy a mountain….yes a mountain...where thought leaders and entrepreneurs could live, work, visit and enjoy. So they acquired America’s largest ski resort for $40,000,000 Powder Mountain, where they created an actual town of entrepreneurs and successful people that go to the mountain for conferences, vacation, visiting, and living. Current to date, they have sold over $160,000,000 in homesites. 02:08: Intro 11:28: Getting Involved with Bisnow Media 14:57: How Ryan and His Partners Got Connect w/ Some of the World’s Top Entrepreneurs and Creating Summit Series 23:33: Creating an Entrepreneur Event at The White House 30:23: What Ryan & His Team Did When They Were Worried No One Important in Washington D.C. Most people think of the challenges, the fears, the lack of support and the money. Of course, you would need to be very rich to make this happen, right?
