Ep 304304: The Fortune Is in the Follow-Up

How much money are you leaving on the table by not following up with your leads? Why is there fortune in the follow-up? On this episode, we're talking about how crucial it is to follow up with potential and past clients. I share my tips for overcoming fear of rejection and developing a healthy sales mindset, as well as how to create a follow-up system that works for you and I'm sharing the simple template I use to track leads. Be sure to grab a copy of my Sales Follow-Up Template too! Key Takeaways: Natalie shares some of her experiences where people have successfully followed up with her. Fear of rejection has a part to play in why people don't follow up or even start the sales process. It is important to overcome that fear by working on your sales mindset. A 'no' right now can become a 'yes' later. Keep that in mind for the next sales cycle. Another big missed opportunity is when you don't get an answer - instead of abandoning that prospect, follow up to get an answer! What is Natalie's follow-up system? 1) Start your day with how you can bring sales into your business. 2) Have a system for tracking leads and where they are in the sales cycle. 3) Keep it simple. 4) Create a visual reminder of your sales goals. 5) Celebrate your wins! 291: [On Air Coaching] Fear of Success with Taryn Holmstrom

Mindset issues affect all entrepreneurs regardless of their level of business. Fear of failure is a common block, but did you know that fear of success can hold you back too? Join me as I coach Taryn Holmstrom, owner of a successful wedding rental business in the Northwest. I help her peel back the onion and uncover the root of her fears. Taryn and I also discuss some ways to take her business to the next level — an organizational chart can be a useful way to plan for this, so don't forget to get your free download! [10:24] What is Taryn's business? She shares how she got started in her business, and the role her family plays in her life. [14:08] When Taryn had a strategy session with Natalie about a year ago, she didn't have a clear line drawn between personal and business accounts. She does now! Natalie shares her advice on why it's important to keep these accounts separate. [16:05] What other changes have happened in the last year? Taryn talks about moving to a different, more consistent child care program for her children so that she has more time to focus on her business. [19:44] Taryn has a very healthy money mindset, but she has a fear of success, in terms of the amount of time she would have to dedicate to achieving success. [21:01] What has Taryn's experience been adding staff and outsourcing tasks? [24:11] Natalie encourages Taryn to think about what her organizational chart would look like as she grows. It is important to think about the functions of the business, not the people on hand. [31:34] Based on Taryn's current situation, she has two options: a) maintain her current structure, limit her client base and raise prices, or b) grow the business by hiring more people to support more clients. Natalie and Taryn discuss her options based on her strengths and weaknesses. [38:33] Natalie addresses Taryn's fear of success with a key insight: At the end of the day, know that you as the business owner are in complete control of everything that's happening in your business. [43:27] Taryn has a lightbulb moment — teachers can be a great resource for her to tap into during her busiest months in summer! [45:24] Natalie has a free download for you! Download the organizational chart and write out the functions of your business. Based on the vision you have for your business in 2018, you can see where you might need to hire more people. 269: Eight Ways 1/1 and Group Work Will Grow Your Biz

YOU HAVE BEEN BRAINWASHED! And I was too. I have been part of the online space since 2012 and for the last five years I have heard guru after guru tell me not to trade my time for money. They say it like it is a horrible nasty thing that no one should do. Well, I am here to tell you that I have built a multi-six figure business (that is scaling to 7 figures) that has very low overhead based off of one on one work and I want to share with you EIGHT reasons why working directly with other humans is so powerful. I'm tired of the SHAMING around 1/1 work. Like you, I used to get wowed by five, six and seven figure launches that I saw people BRAGGING about. But as I have gotten more savvy, I realize that when the "gurus" share their Revenue without ever disclosing if they made a Profit (notice, they don't share the cost of their launch, how many refunds they gave out or how many people did not follow through on their payment plan). Anyone can build a business that can take care of their family based on one on one work and still have time for fun, family and travel. If you are trying to launch your business, pivot into a new area or launch a new product, there is nothing more powerful than 1/1 work. This episode is sponsored by AWeber. 244: Buy Back Your Time - Tips for Outsourcing at Home

There is a ton of information on outsourcing in your business but very little on how to outsource in the home as a woman entrepreneur. And let's face it, women take on a lot of responsibility in the home even if we are in a relationship with a really supportive partner. Some of that is our own doing because we like things done a certain way and other parts of it are gender roles that we are expected to take on. In this episode we talk about the first steps to outsourcing at home, how to budget for it, how to creatively outsource if you don't have money to invest and how to overcome objections you or others in your life may have to outsourcing. 242: Self Sabotage and Limiting Beliefs

Do you ever find that you are derailing your own success? Being an entrepreneur takes an extraordinary amount of courage and endurance. I believe that at least 50% of your success depends on your mental game. Sometimes we have great goals and plans and dreams for our business and yet just as we are getting close to attaining them, we set ourselves up for failure. It can be subtle and look like procrastination or it can be more overt and end up in depression. One place to start is with your own limiting beliefs. Since we are in our #BizChixMonetize Series, I want to focus today on any limiting beliefs you have around money and your own success. I am talking about our mindset and the tapes or scripts you are playing in your head. Many of you may not even realize that the words you are saying to yourself and the things you are believing about yourself and your potential for success are someone else's words. Are you replaying negative words that a parent or caregiver put in your head when you were just an innocent child? Do you have fears about how success could impact your relationships? What if you made more money than your spouse or your parents or your siblings or your friends? What words or phrases come to you about money? Take a highlighter or different pen and note those statements that have a negative connotation about money. For phrases that are common sayings about money - think about what the underlying meaning of that saying. SIMPLE STEPS TO ELIMINATE LIMITING BELIEFS The key is to first start with recognizing it. Then decide if you agree with it. If not, do you want to change it? If you do, create a new script to replace it. Recognize it Evaluate it - agree or disagree Re-Script it Maintain it [optional] Relapse It Source: Psychology Today A note of inspiration: I give you permission to make 2017 the most successful year you have ever had. Whatever glass ceiling you have placed on yourself, 2017 is the year it get's shattered. 233: [new series] 10 Tips to Monetize and Grow Your Biz #bizchixmonetize

We are going to spend the next 10+ episodes talking about all the issues related to MONEY, your mindset around money, getting paid, setting prices, raising rates, finding more customers and how to organize your business finances. I am creating this series in response to the emails you send me, the work I do with clients, and the conversations I see in our Private Facebook group. Today I am going to do an overview of some topics that we are going to dig deeper on throughout this series. Set realistic expectations. It takes years to build a business that can support your family. Keep your business and personal finances separate - it is hard to know how you are doing if it is all co-mingled. Decide on an amount to invest in your business and put it in a separate business account (see #2). Understand your attitude around money and building wealth. What is your family history around money? What money stories from your past are affecting you today? You don't know what is going on in someone else's bank account. Realize what you perceive about others, may not be the reality of the situation. Keep your eye on your own business. Don't get distracted. (For more on this listen to The Six Lies of Six Figure Launches.) The higher income you earn in your day job, the harder it is to transition to entrepreneurship. The easiest path to entrepreneurship is to leverage what you are already doing in a consultant role. You need to network with others. No matter what your business is, you have to get out and meet people. Go to local events, attend conferences, have lunch, meet for coffee. Go broad, then go deep. Stop spending money on courses and coaches and tools. You already know enough. You're going to fail along the way. Keep trying, keep iterating. Don't give up. Focus the bulk of your time on bringing money into your business. That means selling. That means having something to offer. Make sure what you think you want to do aligns with what people really need and are willing to pay for (validate this through 1/1 work). (Listen to The Truth About Sales and Selling and Are You Solving a Big Enough Problem? for more on this topic). Now go make some money! I'd love to work with you! Go to BizChix.com/workwithme for more info! Thank you so much for listening. If you enjoyed the episode, please SUBSCRIBE in iTunes and leave a rating and or review. 230: The Truth About Sales and Selling

If you want to be an entrepreneur, you are going to have to do SALES! This episode for those of you that struggle with sales and selling, especially when it involves putting yourself out there and possibly being rejected. Sales and selling is a topic that is rarely discussed in the online world, at least not in the way I am addressing it today. Most of the talk is about passive income and selling through ads and webinars and more passive means, but most successful entrepreneurs fill their courses, group programs and sell their products based on personal selling and using the connections they already have. I have four approachable topics relating to selling I cover in this episode: Understanding your sales mindset. Creating brand awareness in your personal network. Personally selling your product or service. Designing a simple system to follow up. Key Takeaways: [5:07] What Natalie learned from her digital detox. [8:53] Are sales required to be an entrepreneur? [10:30] Natalie introduces the four main topics of the podcast. [10:54] What do you think of when you think of the word "selling?" [15:21] What makes a negative sales experience? [17:16] Why your personal network and connections are vital to successful sales. [21:00] How you can make the best use of your personal connections? [27:59] How can you personally sell your product or business? [31:28] Designing an effective follow-up system. [33:33] Natalie shares tried-and-true tips for making sales work for you. [34:54] How to have confidence and confront the fears associated with selling in your business. [37:11] Make a simple sales plan for yourself and your business.
