Lies My Doctor Told Me, Diabetes and the Ketogenic Diet, Thinking Outside The Medical Box – Dr. Ken Berry KKP 006

Today, I am lucky to have here with me a profound and highly-driven keto advocate from the medical field, Dr. Ken Berry. Although his practice is not yet warmly accepted in our society today, he is firm on his stand when it comes to the ketogenic diet. Dr. Berry is the first physician in the family. It was always his childhood dream. At the age of 13, he started having severe migraines and thought he would not be fit for a medical doctor’s lifestyle. However, his condition got better during his college days and hoped that he could finally fulfill his dream. He was determined to change his way of eating when he was obese and became prediabetec at the age of 35. He knew his stressful lifestyle coupled with unhealthy eating habits contributed to his condition. Dr. Berry was further challenged to make a change in order to help his critically ill patients. His goal is to spread the truth about the ketogenic diet. Dr. Berry had already published a book entitled, “Lies My Doctor Told Me” and is increasing his reach with the help of social media channels. In this episode, Dr. Berry and I talked about ketogenic diet, type 2 diabetes, the 3 pillars of health and nutrition, exercise and more. He shared his journey with living his best life starting with the paleo diet then transitioning to low-carb diet and finally the ketogenic diet. He also shed some light as to why ketogenic diet doesn’t work for other people. Moreover, tips and strategies were shared on how to get the most out of the keto diet. Tune in! [07:56] The 3 Pillars of Health and Nutrition He want back to dig up his medical books and lecture notes to refresh his knowledge on his nutrition training. After reading up on the materials that he was able to retrieve, he was reminded that the foundation of health is knowledge and understanding of human nutrition. The 3 Pillars of Health and Nutrition: 1. Eat lots of whole grain 2. Don’t eat any saturated fat. 3. Jog. [09:32] The Unexpected Weight Gain He has an exceptional training background when it comes to parenteral nutrition. However, he admits that, when it comes to feeding a healthy human being in a disease-preventive way, he was clueless. Dr. Berry guided himself with the 3 pillars and applied it in his daily life. Despite his consistent hard work for 2 months, he still gained 5-10 pounds. [10:25] Thinking Outside The Medical Doctor Box Read different works on nutrition: Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution by Robert Atkins The Paleo Diet by Loren Cordain The Primal Blueprint by Mark Sisson He tried this new knowledge on himself starting with paleo and transitioned to a low-carb diet which got him better but still far from his health goal. Immediately felt better, lost weight, decreased inflammation. He then finally tried ketogenic diet and after 2 months he thought to offer it to his morbidly obese patients, many of which are scheduled for a gastric bypass which is a risky procedure. His patients started noticing his transformation and were curious about what he was doing. He finally recommended the ketogenic diet to his patients with the worst case of morbid obesity and they all started getting better. [12:43] Dr. Berry’s Patients on Keto Diet He monitors his patients closely since the diet was presumed to be dangerous. After 1 month, his patients would come back asking if they could do it for a longer period of time. They loved the diet and was very happy with the results Many patients, who cancelled their bariatric surgery, were coming to him because they wanted to lose fat naturally. He was very glad he found a tool that could help many others when the only option most of them had before was a bariatric surgery. He only recommended it to his sickest patients [16:28] Type 2 Diabetes and the Ketogenic Diet Type 2 Diabetes is not a disease. It is one of the many ways how poison in your diet can manifest itself. Poisons: Sugar Grains Industrial seed oils Removing these poisons from the diet results to type 2 diabetes going away. [18:42] Truth about EBM: Evidence-Based Medicine or Eminence-Based Diet American Diabetes Association (ADA) claims their diet recommendation is based on zero research and it’s based on expert consensus. Dr. Berry, on the other hand, believes in true evidence based medicine (EBM) but oftentimes, no meaningful research is done on a topic which makes EBM mean something else, “Eminence Based Diet” Leading authorities in the medical field decide what is considered EBM as standard of care and there are many instances in history wherein these EBM, such as lobotomy and provision of Valium to premenopausal women, have been further proven to be dangerous and ineffective. [22:10] What Led Him to His Life Mission Dr. Berry knew he was called to reverse type 2 diabetes and obesity. His wife, Neisha, an active social media user, asked him, “How many patients do you help a day in the clinic?” and “How many patients can you help on social media?”. He had no social media presence back then other than

Plant Based Keto Foods That Detoxify The Body, Negative Health Effects of The Vegan Diet – Ben Azadi: KKP 005

In this episode, we’ll talk about the vegetarian and ketogenic diet, Dr. Will Cole’s book, Ketotarian, plant based foods that help detoxify, and so much more. Here is an overview of this episode: Plant based foods ketogenic foods that help detoxify the body The negative health effects of a longterm vegan diet Why the conventional medical system is rigged And so much more Get my FREE Keto Kickstart Guide: www.ketokickstartguide.com YouTube Channel: www.youtube.com/ketokamp [3:03] My story with vegetarian and ketogenic diet. I was a strict vegan for a year and a half about 6 years ago. I got really good results from being vegan. I felt better. My skin and sleep are better as well as my workout. During the 4th or 5th month, I hit the vegan wall. I felt really sore. Hormones got wonky. My sex drive was diminishing. My skin was getting skin issues. I studied Paul Chek, one of the considerable godfathers of holistic health, and learned about the dangers of the vegan diet. Blood works were done and I decided to explore the ketogenic diet. After a considerable amount of time on ketogenic diet, my health, in general, was good again. [6:10] Vegan diet is great. However, there are a lot of issues in the long run. From the book Vegetarianism Explained: Making an Informed Decision by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride: If you look at every corner of the planet, healthy indigenous people eat a mixture of plants and animal foods. It is the animal food that was actually the most valued. The human digestive system in its structure is similar to the gut of predatory animals. We have 1 stomach without microbes in it. Our human stomach is decide to produce acids and pepsin which breaks down meat, fish, and yolks in eggs. Best building blocks to feed our cellular regeneration process comes from high quality animal foods. The brain is a fatty organ. In fact, it is composed of 60% fat and it requires fat and protein. If we are not getting that from high quality animal foods, we are actually starving our brain. [7:48] Going vegan for a short period of time is a good idea As we learned from Keto Kamp Podcast Episode 1 with Dr. Pompa regarding hormone optimization and diet variation, the real purpose of plants are cleansers. Vegan diet is good and helpful in keeping our inside bodies clean. Cleaner body is always better than a toxic one. When the body was finished cleansing, you have to start feeding it with animal food. If not, the body will starve and deteriorate. Vegan diet should be seen as a form of fasting. They do not feed the body properly. [9:00] Ketotarian, Dr. Cole’s book Ketogenic diet is a great diet because it marries the best of low-carb diet and the plant-based way being while avoiding the common pitfalls with both diets. “The ketotarian way of eating brings together healthy plant-based fat, clean protein and rich, vibrant colors of nutrient-dense vegetables.” Green leafy vegetables go hand-in-hand with ketosis. If you are a vegan, take in some algae-based omega 3s and eggs. [11:02] Ways to detox the body Some of the powerful antioxidants are sea vegetables like chlorella, herbs, parsley and cilantro. Onion, broccoli, mushrooms, cabbage, cauliflower are all great in supporting detox pathways. Cole’s book, The Inflammation Spectrum, will help you discover how inflammation is at the core of most common health woes. Join my Keto Kamp Inner Circle to get my Vegan-Keto Meal Plan. [13:21] Rigged System of the Conventional Medicine The problem with most conventional doctors is that they’ve been trained with so masterfully to diagnose disease and match it to a dedication. As Dr. Cole previously said, “You wouldn’t go to your mechanic to ask for a gardening advice. You wouldn’t go to your doctor and ask them for nutrition advice. They are just not trained on that and it is the sad truth.” If you have a doctor or a medical practitioner who’s asking you basic questions and not digging into your history, consider that a red flag. If your doctor doesn’t listen to you, find another doctor. Email me at [email protected] for some help and advice. AND MUCH MORE! Ketotarian, Calming Inflammation, Why Conventional Medicine Fails – Dr. Will Cole: KKP 003

In this episode, I interview top functional medicine practitioner Dr. Will Cole. He is the author of Ketotarian® and was named one of the top 50 functional-medicine and integrative doctors in the nation and is a health expert and course instructor for the world’s largest wellness brands such as Mindbodygreen and Goop. In this episode, Dr. Cole talks about: Functional medicine and emphasizes the importance of our relationship with our body and food He shares a few powerful messages. One of which is “You cannot heal a body you hate.” We talked about transitioning from vegetarian to ketotarian, Why conventional medicine has failed us And much more Learn more about Dr. Will Cole here https://drwillcole.com/ [0:35] Dr. Cole’s interesting childhood He grew up outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and he lived his childhood a little bit different than most kids. He grew up eating organic foods and drinking Adaptogenic Tonics which are not normal during the 80s and 90s. He learned and understand food and developed his relationship with health and wellness at a very young age. When he was 16 years old, Dr. Cole already knew he wanted to get into wellness in some way. At Southern California University of Health Sciences, he started focusing on functional medicine. [4:08] Practicing virtual functional medicine Hundred percent (100%) of Dr. Cole’s patients/clients are online. Dr. Will Cole together with his team consult world wide in Autoimmune, Brain, Gut, Hormone, and Thyroid health. It is convenient for people who may not have access to a nearby functional medicine doctor. [5:54] What is it like living in Dr. Cole’s household? Dr. Cole and his wife have 2 wonderful kids, a son and a daughter. One cool thing about being a functional medicine practitioner who gets invited into workshops or seminars is him being able to bring his family and give them front row seats for his talks. His son is very much into the concept of helping people. Of his two kids, his son will most likely be into the health and wellness field as well. On eating healthy foods: Dr. Cole shifts his kids’ mindset into eating healthy foods. He would normally say to them “Look at the healthy food we get to eat and feel great as a result of it.” Loving your body enough to feed it well: For adults, little boys and little girls, it is very important to have a healthy relationship with food. See you child as an individual and observe how they receive information. Make their foods age-appropriate as well. Foods you eat impact your hormonal levels. It’s not about punishing your body by not having all the good stuff. It’s really about focusing on all the good stuff and the grace that we get from feeding our body good things. [10:45] Why is it important to get a comprehensive health history of patients? Most of Dr. Cole’s patients have seen previous doctors before they consult with him. His job as a functional medicine practitioner is to find out what’s been missed out on his clients pile of laboratory reports. Thorough medical history is not respected enough even though it gives a lot of information. If you have a doctor or a medical practitioner who’s asking you basic questions and not digging into your history, consider that a red flag. [14:36] Rigged system: Experiencing symptoms but not sick enough to be diagnosed The system is broken and it is distracted on things that are not the most effective but with the least amount of side effects. The system is largely trained to diagnose a disease and match it with a medication. Main options of people with autoimmune issues are steroids, immuno-suppresants and biological drugs. They don’t put everybody on this medication but when it gets bad enough, they basically punish and suppress the immune system down. These problems don’t happen overnight. By the time it gets to the point where they want to put you on these medications, that’s an average of 10 years prior to the diagnosis. All chronic problems are called chronic for a reason. They don’t happen overnight. Dr. Cole’s book, The Inflammation Spectrum, will help you discover how inflammation is at the core of most common health woes. Some people have been sick for so long. They will never be 100% better. But, we have to get them the best they can be and live the best life they can live. That’s a better alternative than taking a medication for the rest of your life. Functional medicine is revolutionary. Today, conventionally trained hospitals are now providing functional medicine clinics. We have to do different to see something different. [19:34] Dr. Cole was a vegetarian for 10 years until his health starts declining Just because something is better doesn’t mean it’s optimal long-term. Dr. Cole transitioned into being vegetarian to being a ketotarian. [21:22] Exercise and Eating Healthy Food and exercise are both important. They are two sides of the same coin. Food is such a powerful driver. It is primary and exercise is icing on the cake. The ratio between food

3 Biggest Causes of Inflammation, How to Test for Max Autophagy – Ben Azadi: KKP 002

In this episode, I am breaking down the top reasons why you might be struggling with the Keto Diet and intermittent fasting, and provide you with solutions to maximize your results. I will be relaying the information Dr. Daniel Pompa shared in Episode 1, and go deeper into each important detail. If you are currently on a ketogenic diet or you are planning to be on one, this episode is definitely for you! Don’t miss out on the fun! In this episode you will learn: - The 3 biggest sources of inflammation, leading to poor keto and fasting results - What to do if you have silver amalgam fillings - What is maximum autophagy, and how to achieve it by looking and glucose/ketone measurements - Why most detoxes fail - What to do if you've been exposed to heavy metals - And so much more Learn more at www.youtube.com/ketokamp Get my free keto kickstart guide www.ketokickstartguide.com [1:56] Environmental toxins are everywhere. There are three (3) environmental toxins currently affecting four (4) generations and they are leading to an explosion of chronic diseases and obesity: Lead Mercury Glyphosate A study was done by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) where they examined blood of newborn babies. Newborn babies began life exposed to 287 of 413 toxic chemicals and 180 of those toxins were found to cause cancer. Cancer rates in children have risen to 61.7% since 1950. According to Colombia University of School of Public Health, 95% of cancer is caused by diet and environment. [3:05] Silver Fillings which are also called Amalgam Fillings contain 50% mercury Mercury is a major toxin and it creates cellular inflammation. Our mouths are very acidic. Silver fillings (in our mouth) vaporize and go into our brain which then bioaccumulates into the hypothalamus pituitary as inorganic mercury. When boxes of silver fillings are delivered into clinics, it is classified as a poison. Once they were put in your mouth, they are declassified as poisons. Tests showed mercury is not in patients blood. However, these are wrong tests to take as mercury is stored in the brain and not in our blood. You need to get a biopsy of the brain. As Dr. Pompa shared in the previous episode, silver fillings in his mouth almost took his life. He underwent the right process of removing the fillings and eventually got his life back. If you have silver fillings in your mouth and want it removed, make sure it is done right by the right dentist. A good place to find a safe dentist is at IAOMT: The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology [6:45] Detox downstream analogy The analogy: If you’re downstream trying to fix the river and get fish to repopulate the stream of the river, while upstream, they’re still dumping mercury or lead into the river, you’re never ever going to get the fish to take population again. You’ll never going to take care of the problem when you go downstream. Treatment at the cellular level or upstream is the ultimate solution. [7:53] Studies about mercury One study found out that the more amalgam fillings present in your mouth, the more mercury you will have in your organs including the brain, heart, kidney and liver. Study after study, it shows the link between the fillings and mercury found in the body. Another study showed that mercury is linked to high amounts of visceral fat and obesity. A study done by the Diabetes and Metabolism Journal showed an association between blood mercury levels and visceral adiposity in adults. Studies have shown that the number of silver fillings you have in your mouth is proportional to the number of mercury they find in your brain on autopsies. [9:07] What is cellular inflammation? Cellular inflammation does not pertain to sore shoulders, ankle, and others. When your cells are inflamed, receptor sites that your hormones communicate to are not heard. We need to remove the stressors and toxins that create inflammation at a cellular level. If it can't get to the cell, you are not gonna feel well. [10:47] For 20 years, I had 8 silver fillings Last year, I had them removed the right way. I am currently running a detox on myself for the last 6 months and I feel the best I’ve felt in a very long time. I encourage you to do a little research. If this is intriguing to you and you want to dive deep about it, feel free to contact me at [email protected]. [11:34] Common symptoms of mercury poisoning Studies have shown that chronic Hg exposure from various sources including dental amalgams is associated with numerous health complaints, including fatigue, anxiety, and depression Elemental mercury toxicity (which usually occurs in the vaporized form) can cause: mood swings, nervousness, irritability, and other emotional changes, insomnia, headache, abnormal sensations, muscle twitching, tremors, weakness, muscle atrophy, and decreased cognitive functions. [12:12] Are you safe from mercury poisoning? Did you ever get a flu shot? If you answer is yes, here are interesting things you need to know. Accor

Dry Fasting for Cancer, 4 Supplements to Stop Taking, The Dangers of Silver Fillings – Dr. Daniel Pompa: KKP 001

This first episode is very special to me as I am joined by my coach, mentor and friend, Doctor Daniel Pompa. Not only is Dr. Pompa my coach and mentor; he is the world leader in cellular detox. Having battled and emerged victorious over a debilitating battle with chronic fatigue syndrome, Dr. Dan Pompa, PSc.D, has embraced his God-given mission to assist others who face similar challenges. Dr. Pompa earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Life University’s College of Chiropractic in Marietta, Georgia in 1995 where he graduated second in a class of 150. His journey back to health continued to lead him to a voracious passion to research and learning beyond what is often readily understood. Dr. Pompa has established his coaching and teaching on a firm and proven conviction that the crisis of modern-day allopathic medicine is the sad result of physicians chasing symptoms with medication rather than addressing the root cause of disease. In this episode, Dr. Dan Pompa shares his personal story of mercury poisoning and how he converted his pain to purpose. Listen and learn all about Dr. Dan’s expertise which includes fasting, autophagy, diet and more! This episode is jam-packed with information so you definitely don’t want to miss this one! We cover many facets of the fasting and toxicity that are contributing to disease, and Dr. Pompa gives it to us straight: There's 3 big stressors contributing to disease in our society. You cannot get well until you address this. Antibiotics are killing more people than they are helping. The 3 supplements he has all of his new patients stop taking immediately. With a bonus 4th supplement. The amazing tumor shrinking benefits of fasting, and details on dry fasting vs water fasting. Listen in on this informative discussion about why so many people don't feel good even though their blood work looks "normal". Enjoy the show! [0:33] Growing up ‘Pompa’: A Different American Household While Dr. Pompa did have vaccine shots, he never had any antibiotics. His bricklayer and home doctor father always doctor him - bandaging him up, sterilizing his wounds and stitching his wounds. Dr. Pompa’s father was in the military during World War II and during that time, they doctor themselves. For Dr. Pompa, there is a time and place for antibiotics. One of those instances is when his son, Simon, got bone infection. [3:33] The problem with taking too much antibiotics Antibiotics wipes out microbiomes which is 70-80% of your immune system and it creates immune problems later. After World War II, we all though antibiotic is our savior but we’ve learned a lot this past few decades. Antibiotics created more disease than the number of lives it saved. People get slapped with antibiotics when they have pneumonia or sinus infections. Antibiotics cannot fight viral infections. Because of this, a lot of superbugs and resistant bacteria that are now killing people. [5:21] Dr. Dan’s journey to becoming a health practitioner Dr. Dan loves the book Doctor Dan, the Bandage Man Being a pre-dental college student and a wrestler: His interest was always health Cutting weight/calories didn’t make sense to him Reading fitness magazines and muscle and fitness: How to keep your muscle and be as lean as possible Cutting calories don’t work. You lose strength. In Ocean City Maryland, Dr. Pompa ran a marketing sales crew and they all ended up on the Pompa Diet [10:30] Life as Dr. Pompa knows it came into a screeching haul As a chiropractor and a cyclist, Dr. Pompa was in a great shape until he got sick. From fatigue and anxiety, he had insomnia, panic attacks and he got allergic to everything he was eating. He can’t even watch a movie. He became irritable, angry, or simply someone he didn’t know. In 2005, he started getting his life back. He and his wife grew their family. They adopted two kids who lost their parents tragically and they had another son. [14:42] Dr. Dan Pompa continues his personal story of mercury poisoning Searching the internet and reading literature, he came up with him having Mad Hatter Disease. However, blood test results came back negative. A very bright endocrinologist advised him to do another test, one that is based on tissues not blood, and found out he has mercury poisoning. Chronic mercury poisoning from Amalgam Fillings: from Pain to Purpose Silver fillings in amalgam fillings contain 50% mercury The golf crown creates an electrical current with the silver fillings and made the mercury flow out of the fillings Studies have shown that the number of silver fillings you have in your mouth is proportional to the number of mercury they find in your brain on autopsies. Mercury accumulates in the brain through time, particularly in hypothalamus pituitary which controls your thyroid and your adrenals. Dr. Pompa had to get the mercury out of his brain safely and correctly to ultimately get his life back [20:44] Detox downstream analogy The analogy: If you’re downstream trying to fix the river and ge
