Bills Final Season Positional Analysis & Grades
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation to go over the Buffalo Bills 2025 season positionally, followed by Matt's final season-long grades for all areas of the team in an episode recording earlier in the week just before the Joe Brady hire. All season long the guys have gotten together to discuss the Bills previous game position by position with Matt assigning a grade for each. Obviously there's no more games to break down in that style so this is being turned into a season long evaluation of each position---the good, bad and ugly. Some positions certainly turned out to be pleasant surprises. For example who suspected the tight end room would be one of the biggest strengths on the team even with Dalton Kincaid missing time? Or how about Tre White holding down the cornerback spot alongside Christian Benford all season not just admirably (not admiral) but straight up excellent? It wasn't all good though. The defensive line's play was marred by two key injuries, other nagging injuries and a lot of inconsistent play outside of Greg Rousseau. Of course, perhaps the most intriguing position to discuss is quarterback. By almost any other QB's standard Allen had a stellar season, but coming off his MVP campaign of a year ago, will Matt grade him with a curve? All that and tons more.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Hurt in a car, call William Mattar. 444-4444. Five Huge Questions Brandon Beane Must Answer
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran goes over five of the biggest questions that Buffalo Bills general manager (and President of Operations) Brandon Beane is going to have answer soon as he starts to construct the roster for 2026 under recently promoted first-time head coach Joe Brady. The Bills have been a perennial contender in the AFC since 2019, reaching two conference championship games during that span. But continuing to hit the "proverbial playoff wall" that owner Terry Pegula discussed led to the firing of longtime head coach Sean McDermott and while it hasn't been publicly stated, puts enormous pressure on Beane to make moves this offseason that's going to help them get over the hump because with McDermott gone, failure will (rightfully) fall squarely on Beane going forward. To that point Patrick comes up with five questions that Beane's surely asking himself right now and getting ready to make tough decisions on. Among them is if there's truly a place on the 2026 roster for Keon Coleman that is anything but a negative, who among the offensive line depth is ready to step up and become starters with the probability that at least one if not two incumbent starters will leave for free agency, does Brady lean on Beane to pull of a trade for an alpha WR No. 1 and did Dawson Knox play himself into another year with the club?Switching over to the defense, the Bills have a slew of pending free agents. Between the defense's struggles in Denver, a bunch of guys aging and a new defensive coordinator surely looking to come and change things up, how many of these Bills veterans will be back this season? That and plenty more.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Hurt in a car, call William Mattar. 444-4444. What A Jim Leonhard Bills Defense May Look Like
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Cover 1's Anthony Prohaska to discuss several Buffalo Bills topics, including new defensive coordinator Jim Leonhart and what his defense may look like for the Bills.Joe Brady was promoted to head coach following a search on the heels of Sean McDermott's firing, but that hardly means it's simply status quo for the Buffalo Bills. Most of Brady's coaching staff will be new to the team and that includes Leonhart, who was highly coveted and also drew strong interest from Baltimore and the Los Angeles Chargers. Anthony shares his opinions of the Bills decision to move on from McDermott, land on Brady and then add Leonhard to run their defense.Anthony explains the primary difference in concepts and philosophy between McDermott and Leonhard and how they're significant. They also take a peak at the Bills current defensive roster and which players feel like they could be great fits for what Leonhard does and a few that may have their work cut out from them. Anthony also takes a look at a few cut candidates on the Bills defense, a slew of pending free agents and which ones Anthony thinks should be brought back, a couple of free agents that could be Bills targets in March, perhaps a trade candidate and much more.Be sure to follow Anthony on Twitter @Pro_Ant and of course, follow Cover 1 on YouTubefor daily content no Bills fan should go without.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Joe Brady Presser Reaction: Color Me Impressed
EOn today's Talking Buffalo, new Buffalo Bills head coach Joe Brady's introductory press conference took place on Thursday and Patrick Moran has a boatload of reactions, including why he came away from it surprisingly (very) impressed. It was a big moment for the direction and future of the franchise with the appointment/promotion of Brady and the press conference had a big moment feel. Brady didn't try to hide it either as he was overcome with emotion during his speech almost instantly, having trouble at times getting out words before he settled into the Q&A portion of the presser, asking a bunch of questions alongside general manager Brandon Beane from the media.Patrick goes over some of the more memorable highlights and quotes from the presser before getting into a handful of things he liked most and a few items he certainly could have done without. From there it's the biggest takeaways and Patrick lays out several reasons why he came away not only more impressed with the press conference itself, but feeling better as a whole about the Brady hire compared to when it was announced earlier this week. That plus a very (very) significant hire still to come for the Bills and much more.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Sabres On The Warpath! (Featuring Joe Yerdon Live From Sonny Red's)
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Buffalo Sabres and NHL writer Joe Yerdon to discuss the absolutely scorching hot Buffalo Sabres in addition to a little Buffalo Bills talk as well, recorded live from Sonny Red's in Lackawanna. The Sabres went on the road in Toronto on Tuesday night and smacked the Maple Leafs, 7-4 to win for the 19th time in their last 22 games. If Buffalo hasn't been playing well enough up front, defensemen Rasmus Dahlin netted a hat trick while the incredible transformation of Mattias Samuelsson continued with his racking up three assists. Joe was in Toronto with the team for the game and discusses what the vibe was like the in the arena and in the Buffalo locker room after that.A team that looked absolutely locked into a 15th straight year of the postseason drought finds themselves with an incredible opportunity to finally end it. Joe gets into several of the things he's seen and we've all seen that have made this possible---including a night and day transformation since Keyvn Adams got fired. They also spend some time talking Bills and Joe, a noted "Bills watcher" and not fan has some observations on the Bills decision to fire Sean McDermott and ultimately promote Joe Brady to head coach. That and a whole lot more!Special shout out to Sonny Red’s for being an awesome host and supporter of this show. Make sure you stop up there (1841 Abbott Road) if you haven’t already. Bills Promote Brady To Wildly Unpopular Reaction
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has plenty of instant reaction after the Buffalo Bills promote offensive coordinator Joe Brady to head coach following interviews with several candidates, leaving some people puzzled and clearly most fans annoyed. Some thought the Bills may take their time with this hire considering it was regarded as the most attractive job available, perhaps even waiting to speak to Seattle offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak after the Super Bowl. But whether it was fear of losing Brady to him taking another job or him really being their guy all along, he's the 21st head coach now in franchise history. One thing's for certain----fans don't like the move. Joe Buscaglia from The Athletic put up a poll and nearly three quarters of all fans who voted, well over 13,000 in the first hour said they didn't like the move. Patrick shares a few other hilarious (or maybe not funny to some) social media reactions from content creators and fans.Patrick has plenty of thoughts on the move while prefacing that he's remaining someone guarded with "hot takes" for the moment after the Sean McDermott rage last week. He explains that while doesn't like the move personally he understands it doesn't come without merit. That and plenty more as we get ready for a few lives shows to round out the week--so lots to come! Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Bills Coach Search Nearing End & Red Hot Sabres (Featuring Lance Lysowski)
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Buffalo Bills beat reporter Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News to discuss Lance's first year on an eventful Bills beat and how he's seeing the Bills head coaching search play out down the stretch with what appears to be the final four candidates. After coming to Buffalo in 2018 to cover the Sabres, Lance made the pivot this summer over to the Bills beat. He spends some time talking about the adjustments, of which there were many and getting acclimated to covering a different professional sport, something he's actually done prior to coming to Buffalo. He also sheds insight on the media room and reaction from both the Sean McDermott surprise (to most anyway) firing and subsequent press conference last week that was the talk of the league. They also discuss a column Lance wrote for The Buffalo News on Monday that the Bills would be wise to wait another two weeks to interview Klint Kubiak for their head coaching job. That said, according to Adam Schefter it appears the Bills are down to their final four candidates and a new coach could be hired within a few days. Lance discusses those candidates to and where he thinks this ultimately headed. That plus they drip their toes into some Sabres talk as they have become the talk of the league, this time for good reason. That and plenty more. Make sure to follow Lance @Llysowski. and check out his excellent work at The Buffalo News.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Sabres Tearing Sh*t Up & Favorite Bills HC Candidates
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by broadcaster Steve Bermel to discuss their preferred Buffalo Bills head coaching candidates and a Buffalo Sabres team has been absolutely tearing the league up over the past twenty plus games. As of Sunday night the Bills have interviewed several candidates for the vacant head coaching position with more interviews likely coming in the days ahead before ultimately making a decision. Brian Daboll, Joe Brady, Anthony Weaver, Grant Udinski, Anthony Lynn and Philip Rivers have already received interviews and guys like Klint Kubiak and Davis Webb could potentially become part of the mix. The guys go over who they would like, and not like to see as Bills next coach. Also, the Sabres just continue to be on a bender, steamrolling the Islanders on Saturday to win for the 18th time in their last 21 games. The guys discuss their incredible in-season turnaround that literally started with news that general manager Kevyn Adams would be fired. How much of the turnaround is tied into that, seeing that the personnel is pretty much the same as it was and Lindy Ruff's still behind the bench?Plus, the Sabres situation with Alex Tuch could get really complex, what's going on with the Buffalo Bandits lately and much more.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Biggest Reasons It Was Time For McDermott To Go (Featuring Tyler Dunne)
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by special guest Tyler Dunne of Go Long to discuss several Buffalo Bills topics, including some of the biggest reasons why this was the right time for the organization to move on from now former head coach Sean McDermott. It's been a mess at One Bills Drive since Monday morning when the Bills fired Sean McDermott. From the icy statement towards McDermott with the inexcusable "admiral" typo to radio silence from the team and social media for well over 24 hours before giving McDermott the respect and proper sendoff he deserved. Of course that was nothing compared to the bizzaro press conference on Wednesday with Terry Pegula and Brandon Beane that left many locals shaking their heads and the national media bashing the organization. However, while the messaging sent out by the team this week was amateurish if not bush league, the move itself was perfectly justifiable if not already overdue. There's a very reasonable case that McDermott deserved the fate he got.One of the best long form and feature story sports writers in the business, Tyler has been on the Bills peaks and valleys with McDermott regularly for the past several years. A polarizing figure among BillsMafia because of several Bills articles, one 2023 series specifically on McDermott, Tyler rightfully stands by everything he's written and while a lot of fans and especially a lot of the ardent McDermott supports don't like it, it's hard to argue that a lot of what Dunne's been saying and has said isn't right.Tyler goes over a handful of reasons that despite this week's blunders in message handling, that it was the right time to move into a new direction and that the move shouldn't really be as shocking as many have made it out to be. They talk about what McDermott did right and wrong, Brandon Beane's promotion, Keon Coleman catching strays, Tyler's latest state of the Bills piece that just dropped on Go Long and tons more. Reacting To A WILD Pegula & Beane Bills Presser (Featuring Tim Graham)
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Tim Graham from The Athletic to react to an absolutely wild press conference featuring Buffalo Bills owner Terry Pegula and general manager Brandon Beane that's drawing strong reaction locally and around the league.A season-ending press conference featuring Beane would be anticipated in any season. The fact former head coach Sean McDermott was fired on Monday definitely heightened it, and Pegula speaking and taking questions for the first time in years instantly made it must see. What we saw felt like a blend of honestly, contradicting statements and a few shocking moments. Tim was at the presser covering it for The Athletic and Patrick grills him for with a ton of questions on several statements said.Pegula says his decision to fire McDermott was based on Saturday's loss in Denver and the reaction in the locker room, but soon after accused the officials of making a "bad call" that cost them the game. Beane also took offense, great offense to questions about making a powerplay to keep his job and about his character----a charged response.Perhaps the most shocking part of the presser was Beane, when asked discussing some of the challenges with draft picks that haven't worked out when Pegula interrupted to publicly say that the Keon Coleman pick was not Brandon Beane's choice but Beane was being a "team player." Tim has a reaction on all this plus reaction he's heard around the league and tons more.Make sure to follow Tim on Twitter @ByTimGrahamand check out his absolutely elite work at The Athletic.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Bills Positional Analysis & Tons Of McBeane Fallout
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by SB Nation's Matt Warren to go over positional analysis from the Buffalo Bills heartbreaking playoff loss in Denver last weekend in addition to discussing some of the fallout already pouring in from Sean McDermott being fired while Brandon Beane retained his job and got a promotion as well. The craziness around the McDermott firing and Beane staying almost makes you forget about the game in Denver Saturday that possibly led to it. Not the case for Patrick and Matt though. As they've done every week throughout the season and finish up with today, they go through the Bills positionally, talk about what went right and wrong for the game before Matt ultimately assigns his grade for each. From there it's all about the news of McBeane divorcing and the immediate fallout. The guys have plenty of their own thoughts on why things went the way they did and if they agree with it. They also go over some of the articles, stories and rumors about what led to where we're at today. That plus who Matt would like to see be the next Bills head coach, a little talk of what's to come soon and plenty more.Make sure to follow/subscribe to The Bruce Exclusive and give Bruce a follow on Twitter @BruceExclusive.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Thoughts On Shocking Sean McDermott Firing
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by popular podcaster Bruce Nolan to go over several thoughts on the heels of the shocking firing of now former Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott on Monday. The prevailing sentiment following the Bills latest disappointing exit from the playoffs was that both McDermott and Brandon Beane would likely be safe, with Beane probably the more likely to get fired if owner Terry Pegula pulled the trigger on the move. However, turns out it was McDermott getting fired with Beane not only keeping his job, but getting a promotion along the way. Patrick and Bruce have a ton of thoughts on this franchise altering development.Patrick also expresses disbelief and annoyance at how poorly the Bills seem to have read the room with this McDermott firing/Beane promotion move----from the reaction of (most) fans defending McDermott, the outpouring of public shock and unhappiness of several players to the official press release that literally had a notable typo in the beginning and felt pretty chilly towards McDermott, saying he did an "admiral" job.Bruce has thoughts on Beane's track record, what he expects him to say at the next imminent press conference, how the offseason could go and tons more.Make sure to follow/subscribe to The Bruce Exclusive and give Bruce a follow on Twitter @BruceExclusive.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Heartbreaking Bills Loss Serves Up Indictments
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss the Buffalo Bills heartbreaking overtime playoff loss in Denver, with the defeat serving up some indictments on the organization that may (or may not) lead to changes. The Bills fell on the wrong side of history in depressing fashion, becoming the first team in NFL history to be eliminated from the playoffs three consecutive seasons by three points or less. This time a lot of the blame falls squarely on the shoulders of Josh Allen, who uncharacteristically played awful. Allen turned the ball over four times and three of them were his fault. He also missed some very makable throws, including a ball to Dawson Knox on the Bills last offensive snap of regulation that would've won the game. The guys discuss how disappointing it is for someone as talented and valuable as Josh to play so poorly.Officiating was clearly at the forefront of this one too. The guys discuss whether they think Brandin Cooks should've been ruled as having caught the ball and a few other terrible calls that went against the Bills. They also discuss several other factors that Patrick feel serves as indictments against both Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane. Will it lead to any changes? Also, how much does this loss and playoff exit hurt more than the others? That plus the Patriots going to the AFC title game makes this all feel sicker, what could the offseason look like and much more.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Bills vs Broncos Preview, Four Bills Keys & Five Bold Predictions
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has a full preview of Saturday's AFC Divisional round clash as the Buffalo Bills take on the Denver Broncos, including a discussion on the state of both teams, four keys to a Bills victory, five "bold predictions" for the game and a stab at predicting the final score. After knocking off Jacksonville last weekend, the Bills take to the road again trying to advance to the conference championship. To do that they'll have overcome many things, none so more than injuries that'll keep a few important players out and others are far less than 100%. Denver is fresh off a bye earned by being the top seed and there's several things Bills fans should be worried about with them. However, there's also areas of the team that can be exploited, as Patrick gives his lowdown on each team. From there it's Patrick's four biggest keys to the Bills finding a way to come out on top, none so more important, as usual than not losing the turnover battle. After last week the Bills remained undefeated when not losing the turnover battle. Also, having early down success and weathering the storm will be huge keys.Five bold predictions is always fun, at least it is when the Bills win and Patrick is right. Among his today is a successful return for Curtis Samuel, who's been a huge bust this season. Also, can Taron Johnson make us forget about a forgettable season with one big fourth quarter play? Patrick seems to think so.Of course, it all ends with a prediction for the game and we'll save the suspense here---Patrick's picking the Bills and tells everyone the biggest reasons why. I feel like you can probably guess the biggest one.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Hurt in a car, call William Mattar. 444-4444. Bills vs Broncos From A Denver Perspective (Featuring Benjamin Allbright)
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by NFL insider and Denver host/reporter Benjamin Allbright to discuss this Saturday's Buffalo Bills vs Denver Broncos Divisional Round showdown more from a Denver perspective.Allbright is one of the most respected football insider and analysts in the industry and has been kind enough to appear on Talking Buffalo periodically dating all the back to 2018. In fact, Allbright predicted the Bills would trade up for Josh Allen on this show just weeks before the 2018 draft. Patrick takes advantage of that moment to ask Allbright, based out of Denver what it would be like for the Broncos had they drafted Allen fifth overall instead of Bradley Chubb. But this is all about Saturday's playoff matchup and Patrick grills Benjamin to learn as much as possible about the Broncos from someone who directly covers the team. What makes the Broncos the top seeded team that earned a first-round bye? What about this team is exceptional? What could potentially be exposed by the Bills? Speaking of, how are people in Denver actually feeling from their end about facing Josh Allen and a very banged up Buffalo team? That plus Patrick asks Benjamin if he's sticking to Ben's preseason guns of the Bills going to the Super Bowl or not? Follow Benjamin Allbright on Twitter @AllbrightNFL.Patrick also spends time before and after talking about the state of a beat up Bills team that is getting ready to try and go out and get their second straight road playoff win. Bills Positional Analysis & Adversity To Overcome In Denver
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation for their weekly chat, focused around a discussion of the Bills positionally and their performance in Jacksonville as well as a handful of things that definitely have Buffalo facing some adversity going into Denver for the Divisional round this Saturday.Linebacker, cornerback and tight end (as almost always) stood out in a good way for Buffalo in their three point win over Jacksonville as Matt breaks down the team position by position. While prefacing that saying the Bills have no excuses and a very fair chance to go to Denver and knock off the top seeded Broncos on Saturday, there's definitely some factors working against them. Patrick and Matt hit on a handful of them, ranging from short rest to a ridiculous difference between when practice squad elevations are due and the roster being set because the Bills are playing at 4:30pm Saturday instead of 8:00pm. That plus a boatload of injuries that could end up coming to the wire. Also, do the guys think the Bills have much fuel left in the tank after a grueling win in Jacksonville? That plus what are the chances Ed Oliver and Curtis Samuel both return this weekend and much more.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Bills Wild Card Takeaways & First Look At Denver (Featuring Jay Skurski)
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Buffalo Bills beat reporter Jay Skurski from The Buffalo News to go over several of their biggest takeaways from the Bills exciting (and stressful) wild card road victory in Jacksonville on Sunday before quickly turning their attention to Denver.Of course, Josh Allen is the primary reason the Bills are living to fight for another week and Jay has plenty of first hand accounts of what he seen from covering the game in Denver. However, while Josh did the heavy lifting on the offensive side, plenty of "aging" veterans saved the day defensively to keep the Bills in the game while the offense was floundering a little. Jay has thoughts on guys like Shaq Thompson, Tre White and Matt Milano rising up when the unit absolutely needed it most. They spend some time discussing what is looking like a complex injury report for this week heading into the Denver game, and Jay has thoughts on who he think may and may not be good to go by Saturday. Speaking of, Denver is the No. 1 seed and coming off a bye week. How much will that be advantage, what are some things to worry most about with Denver and what's a few areas that can be exposed?Plus, Jay spent personal time with Bills head coach Sean McDermott on the eve of the final game ever at Highmark Stadium a few weeks ago. Jay shares his experience with that and tons more. You can follow Jay on Twitter @JaySkurski and be sure to support local journalism by subscribing to The Buffalo News.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Josh Carries Bills Over Jags To Advance
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss yet another outstanding playoff performance from Josh Allen as he and a few big plays on defense carried the Buffalo Bills to a 27-24 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC wild card round to advance in the playoffs, Buffalo's first playoff road win since 1992.Things weren't always easy for Allen and the Bills offense, including physically with Josh taking a beating. It wasn't made easier by James Cook being held to 46 yards on the ground by the league's best run defense. But when the Bills absolutely had to have it, Allen was pretty much flawless in leading the Bills to touchdowns on their last two possessions. The guys discuss a gutsy performance from the reigning MVP, who fair or not has all the pressure of the world on his shoulders to carry this team over the hump. Can the Bills winning like this be sustainable for the next two or three games?Defensively the Bills started out great, fell apart for a while but again, when they absolutely had to have it, Tre White made a great play to deflect a pass that Cole Bishop intercepted to seal the game. The guys discuss their effort both good and bad, led by an incredible afternoon from White. They also discuss some unsung heroes from the game, including Khalil Shakir and Matt Prater. That plus the Bills will have to overcome even more injuries, find a way to be better stopping the run and get their own run game going next week if they want a crack at the AFC championship the following week. Bills vs Jags Playoff Preview & Five Bold Predictions
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has a full preview of the Buffalo Bills vs Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday AFC wild card round showdown, including the latest on both teams, three keys to a Bills win, five bold predictions for the game and ultimately taking a stab at predicting who's going to win and what the final score will be.Truth be told, this doesn't feel like an ideal situation for either team in the first round of the playoffs. The Bills absolutely cant win in Jacksonville, yet Patrick (and surely most Bills fans and media) aren't brimming with confidence about the matchup either. Conversely, the exact same can be said for the Jacksonville faithful. Sure, winning the AFC South and getting the home field advantage for at least one game is great---but honestly does anyone who roots for Jacksonville really think this is the matchup they preferred, especially so early? But it is what it is and this should be a very good game. Patrick lays out what he thinks are three of the biggest keys to the Bills advancing to the next round, including referencing a pair of stats that support them being almost unbeatable when they happen. He also has his weekly five bold predictions for the game, including Parker Washington giving the Bills defense all they can want and more in the passing game as well as Matt Milano coming up big for the Buffalo defense. Lastly, a prediction for the game and Patrick admits he's spent most the week truly not knowing who he thinks is going to win the game before waking up Thursday morning with a little clarity on why Buffalo will come out on top, at least he thinks so.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. What's The Potential Fallout Of A Bills Loss Sunday?
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined in studio by Tone Pucks for the first time in over a year to discuss the Buffalo Bills through this point and more specifically, potential fallout should they lose on Sunday to Jacksonville in the AFC wild card round. It's a been a mixed bag this season for the Bills with the regular season now over and a returning Pucks has his thoughts on the good and bad of it. On one hand they're no longer divisional champs for the first time in six years but at least they're in the dance---something teams like Kansas City, Baltimore and Cincinnati among others can't say. From there the guys talk about Sunday's game, what they think it's going to take to move in the playoffs and how they feel things are going to play out.Should the Bills lose, the big story will be what---if anything could be the fall out from it. Could general manager Brandon Beane, who's made some significant mistakes in a few key spots over the past few years, be fire? Could head coach Sean McDermott actually be on the hot seat? Bills Positional Analysis & Locking In For Jacksonville
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation for a Buffalo Bills positional analysis, grades for the backups from their regular season finale and a look into the Jacksonville Jaguars ahead of this Sunday's wild card round showdown.Few Bills starters played much if at all versus the Jets, with the exception of one guy that still has Patrick extremely fired up several days later. He lets you know why he's still dumbfounded by that before the guys get into the team's performance positionally in a dominant performance over a New York Jets foe that may or may not have looked disinterested in being competitive.Does anything from the Jets finale actually mean anything for Buffalo going into the playoffs? The guys also take a look at Jacksonville and come up with a few things that gives them confidence for Buffalo going into the elimination game in addition to a few things that definitely have them worried. Bills To Face Jags - Now The Real Fun Begins
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss the Buffalo Bills toying with the New York Jets in the regular season finale, 35-8 before quickly turning their attention towards next week's wild card round showdown with the hottest team in the NFL, Jacksonville Jaguars. The Bills absolutely dominated the Jets from the start of what's likely the last ever game at Highmark Stadium. While the Bills deserve plenty of credit for the effort it was also obvious the Jets looked like a team running for the bus. The guys talk about some of the takeaways from the game, including Dalton Kincaid looking impressive in his brief return to action, a nice afternoon for Mitch Trubisky in the passing game and a complete defensive shutdown of the hapless Jets.It wasn't all roses for the Bills on Sunday though---kicker Matt Prater reaggravated a quad injury and Bills general manager Brandon Beane will be scrambling for a kicker this week before the playoffs.Speaking of, the attention shifts to Jacksonville, who is steamrolling into the playoffs on the strength of an eight-game winning streak and nine of their last 10.The guys also react to a lot of what they say today from both fans and the media with the Highmark Stadium finale. Was the emotion completely justified or perhaps a bit over the top? Can it difficult to balance incredible memories inside the stadium and only having to move across the street as opposed to if the team was relocating to another city or even different part of town? The guys give plenty of honest thoughts on it.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Hurt in a car, call William Mattar. 444-4444. Homage (Of Sorts) To Highmark Stadium
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to pay homage (of sorts) to Highmark Stadium as the Buffalo Bills take the field there one final time in Sunday's regular season finale in addition to plenty of Bills talk and other topics.Though highly unlikely it is at least possible that the Bills can host a home playoff game at Highmark Stadium but in all probability it's the last time fans will venture to the stadium to watch a football game before the new place opens across the street. The guys discuss the history of the stadium and some of the more memorable moments of things that happened inside and outside of Highmark. Also, Patrick drops a personal Highmark Stadium fun fact that may leave you shocked. They also spend plenty of time talking about the Bills including how they should approach Sunday's finale against the Jets and who if anyone does Joe prefer see the Bills play against in the playoffs.Plus, the Sabres have won 10 in a row and may never lose again and tons more as the guys get 2026 rolling.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Should There Be A Bills Playoff Preference?
EOn today's episode of Talking Buffalo, the first of 2026 Patrick Moran discusses why he doesn't truly have a preference for who the Buffalo Bills will end up playing in the wild card round of the AFC playoffs next week in addition to having a little fun with who should be "Leading the Charge" for the Bills in their last ever regular season home game at Highmark Stadium this Sunday.Happy New Year everyone! It's not that Patrick is either afraid of the Bills facing any particular opponent in the playoffs this year nor is he overconfident against anyone either, he just doesn't think there's a major advantage or disadvantage to facing one specific team. Patrick goes over each of the possibilities and why it could be a good---or bad match up for the Bills. It also wouldn't be the least surprising if the Bills come out of the AFC and get to their first Super Bowl of this current regime, nor would it be the least bit shocking if they lost by two scores to anyone in the first round. Patrick feels that may be true this year more than any of the past six. Also, the tradition of leading the charge for a former Bills alumni comes to an end along with the stadium. Patrick posed the question of who should be leading the charge on Twitter earlier this week and got some great (if not predictable) answers. He also then asked for wrong answers only and there were doozies. He shares those and plenty more. Here's to a great 2026 friends!Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Hurt in a car, call William Mattar. 444-4444. Bills Positional Analysis & The Last Talking Buffalo of 2025
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation for their weekly positional analysis of the Buffalo Bills, including grades from the disappointing but also a blessing in disguise loss to Philadelphia this past weekend before turning their attention towards Sunday’s last regular season home and probably the last game ever at Highmark Stadium. The Bills played incredible on defense but couldn't sustain anything on offense that resulted in points for well over three and a half quarters. The guys go over the team like they do each week, position by position and offer thoughts on what's going right and wrong before Matt settles in on his grades. From there, they spend time discussing the finale against the New York Jets, how they may handle it with certain starters, if the Jets have even less interest in winning this game than we think, what it may end up resulting in for the playoffs and much more. This is the last Talking Buffalo episode of the year, so Happy New Year!Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Bills Biggest Week 17 Takeaways: Don't Blame The Wrong Guy
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran goes over several of his biggest takeaways after watching back the film from the Buffalo Bills final seconds 13-12 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles that ended any chance of Buffalo winning the AFC east for a sixth straight year, including a major debate on who’s most to blame for Buffalo losing. After wasting a strong bell to bell defensive effort because an offense that couldn’t get out of it’s own way until the final five minutes, Buffalo scored two late touchdowns in the fourth quarter. However, Michael Badgley missing the first extra point led to head coach Sean McDermott deciding to go for two points and the win after Josh Allen scored with five seconds left, a decision surely rooted in not trusting Badgley to make the extra point to send it to overtime. The play was there to be made, Allen missed the throw (badly) and Buffalo suffered its fifth loss.A lot of Bills fans put the loss primarily on offensive coordinator Joe Brady, including PK from the Buffalo Sports Collective on the live show here yesterday. Patrick vehemently disagrees though, especially after watching the game back and points out several instances why he thinks it’s primarily the fault of the franchise QB and reigning MVP.The tape shows that he didn’t much help from his offensive line either and Patrick points out two guys specifically who really struggled. PS: Josh Allen has now been sacked a career-high 40 times. The other side of the ball was incredible for Buffalo, and Patrick goes over a handful of stand outs and why it’s perhaps the Bills biggest silver lining from this game. That plus what the Bills may do in their Highmark Stadium finale against the Jets, who they may prefer to see in the wild card round and much more.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Josh Blows It Versus Philly (Live Reactions)
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by PK from the Buffalo Sports Collective not long after the Buffalo Bills missed a golden opportunity to beat the Philadelphia Eagles on a two point play at the end of the game, losing 13-12 and officially ending their run of five straight AFC division titles. The Bills defense did absolutely everything possible to keep Buffalo in the game on a day where the offense, for the most stunk. The defense held Jalen Hurts without a completion and just 17 total yards as a team in the second half as the offense finally caught up to erase a 13 point deficit in the fourth quarter. However, after an Allen touchdown with five seconds left and the decision to go for two, Allen badly missed on a wide open Khalil Shakir for what would've been an incredible comeback victory and keep their division title hopes alive. The guys talk about if it was the right decision to go for two and the overall play for Josh, who was----not good. There were a few positive things to take away from the game, including Brandin Cook stepping up at wide receiver and an entire defensive unit that was mostly lights out.The Bills will very likely end up the sixth or seventh seed going into the playoffs. The guys discuss potential scenarios and much more. You can follow PK on Twitter @PK_BSC and check out the Buffalo Sports Collective podcast.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Ep 2Bills vs Eagles Preview & Five Bold Predictions
EOn this bonus Saturday edition of Talking Buffalo. Patrick Moran has a full preview of the Buffalo Bills upcoming showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles at Highmark Stadium on Sunday, including three keys to a Bills victory, five "bold" predictions for the game and taking a stab who he thinks will win and by what score. The Bills have already clinched a playoff spot but there's still plenty to play for, at least potentially against Philadelphia this week. For starters, winning this game along with the home finale against the New York Jets next week guarantees Buffalo no worse than the five seed and a likely first round playoff matchup at Pittsburgh. Additionally, it at least gives Buffalo a fighting chance to still win the division going into Week 18. Patrick goes over a handful of scenarios and how he thinks head coach Sean McDermott will handle the roster over these last two games. He also spends time discussing both teams in terms of injuries and where they seem to be at right now, including a Philadelphia team that just feels loaded on paper and is very good, but seems to still be lacking a little bit with five losses this season.Patrick also lays out his three keys to a Bills victory, which includes a pair of uneventful defensive tackles badly needing to step up for Buffalo. From there it's five bold predictions before selecting who he thinks will win. Patrick's picked against the Bills four times this season and they're undefeated when he does so. Will he pick against them again? That and plenty more.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Hurt in a car, call William Mattar. 444-4444. Bills & Sabres Podbag - Christmas Edition!
EOn this (day after) Christmas edition of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is dropping a Buffalo Bills and Sabres podbag, answering a handful of comments from fans in edition to a little Christmas talk.Hopefully everyone had a fantastic Christmas where Santa got you what you wanted and more importantly, you enjoyed the holidays with loved ones. Patrick goes over a few the fun things that happened for him Christmas morning as well crowning someone specifically the 2025 Christmas MVP.He also spends a few minutes going over the latest Bills and Philadelphia Eagles in advance of Sunday's showdown at Highmark Stadium, although it's hard to truly gauge an injury report that's pretty much all estimations at this point because of the holidays. From there Patrick gets into a handful of comments from fans via The Podbag segment, including Joe Brady being the low hanging fruit, the Sabres suddenly becoming fun again and finding the Ebenezer Scrooge of Bills comments. Bills Positional Analysis, Grades & Looking Towards Philly
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation for their weekly positional analysis of the Buffalo Bills, including grades from the Cleveland game before turning their attention towards Sunday's home matchup that may---or may not end up being meaningful.Clean and pretty are not adjectives that would describe Buffalo's performance against the three-win Browns on the road this past Sunday. What matters most of course is that Buffalo found a way to win anyway, 23-20 and keep alive their hopes of a AFC east divisional title. The guys go through the game not so much in recap style but instead positionally, talking about what they liked and didn't before Matt ultimately assigns his weekly grade for each unit. They also spend some time talking about a Philadelphia Eagles team coming to Orchard Park this Sunday that gets two key starters back from injury and while they're not quite the juggernaut they were last year in winning the Super Bowl right now, they're still a super talented and formidable foe the Bills will need to beat if they have any divisional title aspirations going into the final week. Also, with Christmas coming Patrick shares some personal thoughts that've long made the holiday a bittersweet one for him. Best Bills Scenarios Going Forward, Plus Sabres Making Noise
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by podcaster and blogger Chris Ostrander for plenty of Buffalo Bills and Sabres talk, including examining all of the Bills potential playoff scenarios and figuring out which one(s) they prefer the most and least. It's shaping up to be a potential wild final two weeks not only for the Bills but for the entire AFC, as the seeding could end up playing out a number of ways. Buffalo's currently the sixth seed going into Week 17. They still have a shot to win the AFC east and host at least one home game if not more and they could realistically fall to the seventh seed. Patrick and Chris go overall the possibilities and potential opponents, figuring out who they think Buffalo matches up the best against and which games put them in most danger of being one and done. They also go over all their biggest takeaways after having a full day to digest the Bills too close for comfort road victory in Cleveland over the Browns. Also, the Buffalo Sabres are on absolute fire right now, running off six wins in a row to get themselves back in a playoff conversation. Of course this also comes on the heels of major organizational change and Chris has plenty to say about that and much more.Be sure to follow Chris on X at @2ITB_Buffalo and check out the Two in the Box blog in addition to the Instigator Podcast.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Bills Survive Cleveland, Plus Sabres Are Scorching Hot (Live Reaction)
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by sports broadcaster Steve Bermel for tons of live reaction not long after the Buffalo Bills (barely) survived the hapless Cleveland Browns, 23-20 in a game marred by sloppy if not sometimes pathetic play from the Bills. Also, the Buffalo Sabres are suddenly scorching hot.The Buffalo defense did it usually sleepwalking through the start of the game as Cleveland scored a touchdown on their first drive, but Buffalo seemingly took control with touchdowns on their first three possessions. However, they scored just three points on their last six full drives and got a few great plays from the defense--and a few lucky breaks along the way to preserve the win. Patrick and Steve have tons of reaction from this slopfest both good and bad.Among the biggest subjects discussed is Greg Rousseau finally carrying the defense on their back when they needed it most in addition to Matt Milano, Jordan Poyer and Tre White continuing to turn back the clock. Meanwhile on the other side of the ball, Josh Allen did some good things but also a few untimely bad throws and certainly wasn't helped by inexcusable drops from Brandin Cooks and Dawson Knox. The guys have thoughts on this and other team matters. They also spend some time talking about the surging Buffalo Sabres, who faced off in New Jersey Sunday night for their sixth win in a row, the longest winning streak in the NHL. In doing so they're building optimism that the team can turn things around and get back into contention. That and plenty more.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Bills At Browns Preview & Five Bold Predictions
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has a full preview of the Buffalo Bills traveling to Cleveland to take on the Browns Sunday, including three keys to a Bills victory, five bold predictions for the game and a final score prediction. The Buffalo Bills are 10-4. They're a good football team. The Cleveland Browns are 3-11. They're not a good football team. Patrick spends time discussing both teams and realizes the Browns have a good enough defense, led by the best playmaker if not player in the league to make it worrisome for a Buffalo team that's been spotty on the road all season long. That leads to Patrick's three Buffalo keys, which includes a strong commitment to not letting the Browns shorten the game on the ground. From there it's five bold predictions and one includes getting a budding All-Pro into the end zone for a touchdown. Patrick's certainly not picking the Bills to lose the game, but does he think they'll cover the 10.5 point spread on the road? Bills Positional Analysis & Grades Heading Into Browns Week
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation for their weekly positional analysis of the Buffalo Bills, including grades for each position before turning their attention to matchup on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns the Bills will be significantly favored in yet can't take lightly. There wasn't much abnormal about the Bills performance this past Sunday in Foxboro against the New England Patriots. They gave up at least 31 points, which of course Buffalo won seeing they're now 4-0 this season when giving up at least 31 points. Matt and Patrick talk about some of the things the Bills did as a team that for the time being anyway kept alive Buffalo's hopes of a sixth consecutive divisional title. In terms of their weekly positional analysis it pretty much has read like it has most the season, with Buffalo excelling at quarterback, running back and tight end on the offense side with the defense yet again being a complete mixed bag. Old vets like Tre White and Matt Milano really stepped up in this game, which helped overcome other veterans like Shaq Thompson and Larry Ogunjobi having mostly lousy outings. The guys talk about it and Matt, as usual assigns a grade for each position. They also take a look at the Browns, who have a very bad record and are pretty void of talent, but have some playmakers on defense and none so more than Myles Garrett, who can literally break the all-time NFL single season sack record this Sunday against the Bills. That and plenty more.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Hurt in a car, call William Mattar. 444-4444. Buffalo Bills Are The New Kardiac Kids
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran shares several of his biggest takeaways after watching back the film and pouring over stats from the Buffalo Bills come from behind victory this past Sunday on the road against the New England Patriots and thinks the Bills are the NFL's new kardiac kids.Back in the early 80's the Cleveland Browns were regarded as the Kardiac Kids because of their ability to come from behind and win improbable games late. The Bills fell down by three touchdowns in Foxboro against a team that had won 10 in a row and was on the verge of clinching the AFC East. Not so fast, of course---as Buffalo erased the deficit and went on to win. In fact, the Bills are now 4-0 this season when they give up at least 31 points.Patrick has several thoughts on the game, including the old guard on defense really carrying them this past Sunday. Tre White had an interception and carried the second-highest PFF grade of his career in this game, while Matt Milano had a pair of sacks. Both very much looked like the former All Pro versions of themselves on this day.Of course, Josh Allen and James Cook led the way on offense but it's been the tight ends that have consistently carried the passing game. That plus the good and bad of Sean McDermott and tons more.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. EMERGIPOD: Adams Canned By Sabres (Featuring Joe Yerdon)
EOn this emergipod edition of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by hockey writer and sports media personality Joe Yerdon to discuss the Monday Buffalo Sabres bombshell that'd been rumored for days----the firing of general manager Kevyn Adams and appointment of Jarmo Kekalainen to take his position. After five and a half largely unsuccessful seasons as general manager, Adams is officially out. With him at the helm Buffalo went 178-196-42 and never finished higher than 20th in the league standings as the Sabres historic playoff drought reached 14 and in high danger of being 15 this season. Rather than wait for the season to play out Terry Pegula is finally making the change now, going to someone with vast more experience entering the position in Kekalainen than Adams had (aka none) when Adams took the job back in 2020. Jarmo spent parts of 12 seasons as the general manager in Columbus before being fired in 2024 and moving into the Sabres department under a senior advisory role in May of this year.Joe has plenty and we mean plenty to say about both the departure of Adams and the promotion of Kakalainein, including on if it's a move he agrees with, the timing of it, an evaluation of Adams' job both on and off the ice over the past five years, what he expects from Kekalainen going forward, what it may mean for head coach Lindy Ruff and boatloads more.Follow Joe on Blue Sky @joeyerdon.bsky.social and on [email protected]’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Allen Big Brothers Maye In Foxboro (Live Reaction)
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens for live reaction following the Buffalo Bills offense going nuclear in the second half and the defense doing just enough to beat the New England Patriots, 35-31 and keep their AFC east hopes alive. With the season Matt Stafford's having with Los Angeles and their record, it's probably too late for Josh Allen to rally and win a second consecutive MVP. But boy is he building up a case late in the season for the repeat. After a sluggish start the Bills scored a touchdown on five consecutive drives and Allen as usual was the catalyst. The fact the Bills are clicking on offense without much of anything from the wide receivers outside of Khalil Shakir is incredible. The guys try to make sense of it all.Speaking of not making much sense, how about the Bills defense? After getting absolutely gashed for 287 yards and 24 points in the the first half alone, the defense bit back hard in the second half. They gave up a frustrating 65 yard touchdown run to Treyveon Henderson but aside from that gave up a total of just 15 yards on New England's other four possessions, including an interception by Tre White. Again, the guys try to make sense of that.Sean McDermott was awful in the first half but to his credit, his team clearly never felt like the game was over and played like it in the second half. The guys talk about that, if they have a different feeling about the Bills going forward and tons more.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Bills At Patriots Preview & Five Bold Predictions
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has a full preview of a big AFC east clash this Sunday when the Buffalo Bills travel to Foxboro for a rematch with the New England Patriots, complete with three keys to a Bills victory, five bold predictions for the game and taking a stab at the final score. The Patriots are 11-2 on the season, including a Week five win in Buffalo. Their 10 game winning streak has them on the verge of winning the AFC east. In fact, beating Buffalo on Sunday will clinch the division and end Buffalo's five year run as champs. Patrick spends time talking about New England and what he's liked from them most along with why he's not quite convinced they're as good as their record says they are.He also talks about a Bills team that feels like it's turning the corner a little bit on defense, with two aging veterans now in the defense that've had a steadying presence not just for the unit but others specifically. From there it's Patrick's three biggest keys to a Bills win on Sunday, including it being time for a wide receiver(s) to have a meaningful game. Plus, five bold predictions that include something the Bills defense hasn't done in their past five games, why Patrick can't pick against the Bills even though Buffalo's undefeated when he does and much more.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Time Is Now For The Buffalo Bills
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss several Buffalo Bills and other topics, including the time being now for the Bills in multiple ways. For the immediate future, the time is literally now for the Bills to keep their AFC east division title hopes alive as they travel to Foxboro on Sunday to face the New England Patriots. The Bills realistically need to win out starting this week and have New England lose to either the New York Jets or Miami over the past two weeks to win their sixth consecutive divisional crown. Whether that happens or not the Bills still have a golden opportunity to win the AFC and get to a Super Bowl, and the guys discuss why there should be immense pressure for them to get it done in a year where Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow are all down and possibly out.The guys also talk about a non-Josh Allen reason why they think the Bills can run the table come January as well as what their biggest concerns are with this team going forward. They also discuss what major ramifications, if any may come their way if they fall on another year of Josh Allen's prime. They also weigh in on a contested debate over whether Greg Rousseau is worth the considerable contract extension he signed off season. Also, the Buffalo Sabres a complete tire fire and Patrick hates them. Is him openly rooting for them to lose going too far? That plus a review of the James Cook cookie, Joe's Mt. Flushmore and plenty more.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Hurt in a car, call William Mattar. 444-4444. Bills Positional Analysis & Grades Heading Into Patriots Week
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation for their weekly positional analysis of the Buffalo Bills, including grades for each position before turning their attention to huge matchup in Foxboro against the New England Patriots coming up on Sunday. The Bills not only took a big step towards ensuring them a playoff spot after beating the Bengals on Sunday but also kept slim hopes alive for winning the AFC east. The guys, as they usually do go through each position for a discussion on what liked and didn't like from last Sunday before Matt hands out his grades for each.Tight end has been a position of strength and good grades almost all season long and spoiler alert---it continues here.Christian Benford had a sensational game but how much did the play of his teammates effect the overall grade of the cornerback room? Also, the Patriots are coming off their bye and can officially end the Bills five year AFC east run with a home victory on Sunday. Seven Biggest Bills Takeaways From Big Cinci Win
EOn this milestone 1,200th episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by PK from the Buffalo Sports Collective to go over seven of their biggest takeaways on the hells of the Buffalo Bills picking up a big victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in Orchard Park to improve to 9-4 and tremendously increase the probability of making the post season.Josh Allen played at the level vs the Bengals that made him last year's MVP. While winning the award for a second consecutive is almost surely off the table because of Matt Stafford, the guys talk about how Allen was the best player on the field in a game with a handful of elite players. They go over a few of those plays that should give any Bills fan confidence this is a team that can beat anyone if Allen's playing like he did this past week.Christian Benford putting together an All-Pro worthy second half of the season, the tight end position continuing to quietly dominate opponents, Sean McDermott being aggressive when he knew he couldn't afford not too, the nickel/dime defenders in the Bills secondary having a terrible outing and emerging concern about star running back James Cook suddenly developing a fumbling problem are also discussed at length. That plus how a few outstanding individual plays helped mask a poor overall defensive showing, what PK has been up to and plenty more! Josh Allen Goes Superman Mode To Beat Bengals (Live Reaction)
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens not long after the Buffalo Bills needed and got a MVP performance from reigning MVP Josh Allen in a thrilling 39-34 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. It was a game that was not easy on the heart rate for fans of either team. At the end of the day Buffalo got the plays they needed both from Josh and consecutive huge plays from the defense to win to improve to 9-4 on the season, go a long (long) way towards securing a playoff spot and keep their hopes alive in the AFC east.Patrick and Joe talk about Josh going 22-28 for 253 yards and 3 touchdowns and added 78 yards on the ground, including a career-long 40 yard touchdown run and a scramble on third and long to put the game away.Meanwhile the defense mostly stunk. However, Christian Benford made an incredible athletic play that completely swung the game in Buffalo's favor and AJ Epenesa picked off a DaQuan Jones deflection for an interception on the very next play. There's so much to to get to and what it means covered today. Bills Positional Analysis & Grades, Plus Looking At Cincinnati
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation for their weekly Buffalo Bills positional analysis and grades on the heels of last week's impressive 26-7 victory in Pittsburgh before turning a quick eye to what will be an exciting matchup this Sunday afternoon against the Cincinnati Bengals. It wasn't exciting if you're into Josh Allen slinging the ball around but the Bills handled the Steelers on their home field in impressive fashion, led by a running game that simply imposed their will all over a helpless Pittsburgh defense. While it's obvious the Bills running backs and offensive line are going to grade (very) high, who else does Matt have his highest marks set on? Conversely, who will Matt have the most criticism for? Being negative is certainly hard to come by as this was arguably Buffalo's best road game of the season, especially given the injuries. Also, the Bengals are coming to Orchard Park on Sunday afternoon a dangerous and desperate team. They're 4-8 on the season and need to win out to have a chance to make the post season, so this is essentially a playoff game for them. While their record stinks Joey Burrow is back and he doesn't. The Bengals are 8-0 in high last eight starts so the Bills will be severely tested. Also discussed is another Bills injury, this time to Joey Bosa is going to thin out an already thinned out position. That plus Patrick may retire from in-game opinion tweets and much more.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Hurt in a car, call William Mattar. 444-4444. Bills Biggest Takeaways From Pittsburgh & Going Forward
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is going over many of his biggest Buffalo Bills takeaways after watching back the film and going over stats from the Bills impressive road victory in Pittsburgh over the Steelers, 26-7 both from the game itself and going forward into this stretch run of the regular season. The Bills were down four offensive starers including both tackles but it didn't stop the offense from racking up 249 rushing yards on the ground against a pretty decent defense. Patrick talks about prematurely bashing Joe Brady on social media early in the game before smartening up to exactly what the Bills were doing and why. Sometimes simple is better when the other team can't stop it and Brady's intelligence didn't come in fooling Pittsburgh but simply by not allowing himself to get to cute. It certainly won't work every week and hopefully Brady keeps it matchup specific but he implemented the right plan at the time against the right opponent for sure.Patrick also talks about why he thinks the Bills defense is straight up better when Shaq Thompson is the middle linebacker. The Bills playing respectable defense is becoming normal of late and Patrick thinks Thompson's part of the reason why. Also discussed is the Bills being able to take Pittsburgh star players almost completely out of the game. That plus what would make Patrick furious if he were a Steelers fan, the AFC looking like anyone's for the taking now more than ever and tons more.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Bills Impose Their Will In Pittsburgh (LIVE Reactions)
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens for tons of live reaction soon after the conclusion of the Buffalo Bills going to Pittsburgh and quite literally imposing their will on the Steelers, dominating them 26-7 to pick up an important eighth victory of the season. The Bills ran the ball against the Steelers in Pittsburgh at their stadium quite literally like no one has in 50 years. Buffalo ran for 249 yards, including 144 from James Cook and 66 more from Ray Davis as the Bills held the ball for over 41 minutes. Pittsburgh was so helpless in the second half that head coach Mike Tomlin didn't even bother using his timeouts when the Bills were up 16 and chewing up the clock in the fourth quarter on a nine minute drive. Incredibly the Bills did this with not one but both their starting tackles out for the game. The guys talk about how the Bills produced what may not be pretty but is probably their best path to winning games in January with this performance. The defense was very good when they were on the field, which wasn't a ton. The guys talk about Joey Bosa having one of the biggest plays of the season on the first snap of the third quarter that really changed the trajectory of this game. Plus, Shaq Thompson made his presence felt at middle linebacker in place of Terrel Bernard. They have tons of other reactions from this mostly one side Bills win, including what it means in the standings, how they feel about Buffalo's fortunes going forward and tons more. Bills At Steelers Preview & Bold Predictions
EIt's a bonus Saturday episode on today's Talking Buffalo, as Patrick Moran is previewing a Buffalo Bills at Pittsburgh Steelers matchup on Sunday that's very important for both teams and as always includes three keys to a Buffalo victory, five bold predictions for the game and a final score prediction & guess.Injuries have been a factor for the Bills all season long and perhaps at no point are they feeling that more than this week against a Steelers team in badly in need of a win as Buffalo. For the first time in a long time and perhaps his entire career, Josh Allen will be without both his starting tackles due to injury in a game as Dion Dawkins (concussion) and Spencer Brown have both been ruled out. That injured list also includes middle linebacker Terrell Bernard already ruled out and a handful of other guys questionable. Patrick talks about the injuries especially on the offensive and while it's unquestionably demoralizing and will hamper some of the things the offense may be able to to do, there is one silver lining worth explaining. After some thoughts on how the Buffalo lineup may look with roster moves and practice squad elevations and spending time talkin about a Pittsburgh team with a lot of star power but not ranking very well on either side of the ball, Patrick gets into his three biggest keys to a Bills win, with the biggest a continuation of the dead horse he's been beating all week about the offense avoiding the turnovers that've killed them in previously losses this year. Then it's time for five bold predictions and stuck to find five, Patrick enlists the help of his wife to come up with two. That's followed by a prediction for a game and Patrick deliberates if he's going to go with his heart or his head for who leaves this game victorious. That plus Christmas season has arrived even for the holdouts and much more.Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Hurt in a car, call William Mattar. 444-4444. There's One Way For The Bills To Right The Ship
EOn this Black Friday episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran recovers from plates full of turkey to discuss several Buffalo Bills topics as they head towards the critical stretch of the regular season, including what he thinks is the one and only thing the Bills can control and do that can turn around what currently feels like a sinking ship. The Bills aren't moving on from embattled offensive coordinator Joe Brady this late in the season. The receivers don't get open enough and arguably aren't good enough. There's just too many guys on defense playing well past their prime and of course injuries have been a big factor. It's too late to really do anything about that. So what can the Bills realistically find a way to get back to doing to save this season?Patrick thinks it's simple----stop turning the ball over so much and get a few more takeaways of your own. The Bills turned the ball over three times in their loss at Houston last week and have turned it over a total of 11 times in their four losses alone this year. That's a far cry from last year, when they had just eight turnovers for the entire season! They've also failed to have a takeaway in three of their four losses and again, they led the NFL last year in turnover margin. Somehow, someway the Bills and specifically Josh Allen have to better at taking care of the football and the defense has to start producing some strips sacks, forced fumbles in the open field, interceptions or something to turn the tide for a defense that's at best inconsistent.Patrick also has several thoughts on wide receiver Brandin Cooks signing with the Bills, cutting Elijah Moore and also adding defensive end Shaq Lawson---again. That plus plenty to be thankful for and a lot more. Happy Holiday season!Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Hurt in a car, call William Mattar. 444-4444. Bills Positional Analysis & Grades Heading Into Pittsburgh
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by SB Nation's Matt Warren for his weekly visit to discuss the Buffalo Bills, including their positional analysis and grades from last week's disaster in Houston before focusing squarely on a huge matchup this coming weekend in Pittsburgh against the Steelers. It's not a pretty distinction to have but for the time being, the Bills have established themselves as a pretty lousy road team after falling in Houston 23-19, the third time the Bills have lost this season already as road favorites. Like they do every week, the guys go over the Bills positionally with Matt offering his analysis on how they looked last week and in some cases, for the season before assigning a grade. There's little to no good grades to be had on the offensive side of the ball, but how did the defense fare in Matt's eyes? They also spend some time on Sunday's game coming up against Pittsburgh, a pivotal one for the Bills. While the AFC east feels all but gone a victory over Pittsburgh pretty much guarantees they'd have to fall apart to miss the playoffs. Who Are These Streaky Sabres? Plus, Bills Road Woes
EOn this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Buffalo blogger and podcaster Chris Ostrander to discuss both the Buffalo Sabres and Bills, including trying to figure out what version of the Sabres are right now and if the Bills have officially become a bad road team. The Sabres have become an incredibly streaky team and they've been riding a hot wave recently, winning four of their past five. They're just three points out of a wildcard as a result but also merely two points from being alone in the entire conference by themselves. Chris has plenty of thoughts on the good, bad and ugly of the team as it's now just past a quarter of the regular season gone. There's every bit of reason to have hope they can be a playoff team as a top five lottery team.Meanwhile the Bills have lost three road games this season to three pretty average-to-bad quarterbacks. Buffalo faces what's suddenly become a borderline critical game on Sunday at Pittsburgh. The Bills are favored by Vegas in this game, but Patrick explains why he doesn't think they deserve to be. What does Chris think about what's going on with Buffalo and what realistically can change to send them on a path of having a realistic chance to come out of the AFC in January? That and plenty more.
