What This Bathroom Staple Is Doing To Your Health…

E

Plastic shower curtain liners are super convenient, easy to use, and easy to throw away after a period of time when they get moldy or mildew. However, not only is the plastic waste harmful to our environment, these plastic shower curtains contain a plethora of toxic chemicals to our body which we are exposed to every time we shower. When the Center for Health, Environment & Justice tested PVC shower curtains, they found that 108 different volatile organic compounds were released from the shower curtain into the air over twenty-eight days. Fortunately, there are some great alternative shower curtain materials like linen, organic cotton, and hemp that can be washed and reused and don't subject our bodies to harsh chemicals. That's why in this episode, we'll explore the Fatal Convenience, Plastic Shower Curtains. Thank you to our sponsor: Go to www.therasage.com and use code DARIN at checkout for 15% off. Marianne Williamson: The Power of Collective Action Against Corporate Influence

E

In this episode of the Darin Olien show, we will explore the need for collective responsibility in dealing with various societal issues, primarily the extent of corporate influence on US policy decisions, and how individual action alone is not sufficient to bring about meaningful change. My guest Marianne Williamson explains how the power of collective action is being underestimated and should be leveraged more effectively to challenge corporate influence and advocate for social justice. My hope with this episode is to highlight the urgent need our country has for radical change and the crucial role each person plays in shaping the world around us. Plus, the importance of electing a president who is willing to challenge the corporate duopoly and stand up against corporate interests. Marianne Williamson is a bestselling author, political activist, spiritual thought leader, and presidential candidate. For over three decades, she has been a leader in spiritual and religiously progressive circles. She is the author of 15 books, four of which have been #1 New York Times bestsellers. Williamson founded Project Angel Food, a non-profit organization that has delivered more than 16 million meals to ill and dying homebound patients since 1989. The group was created to help people suffering from the ravages of HIV/AIDS. She has also worked throughout her career on poverty, anti-hunger and racial reconciliation issues. In 2004, she co-founded The Peace Alliance and supported the creation of a U.S. Department of Peace. Williamson ran for the Democratic nomination for president in 2020 and is running for 2024. Fatal Conveniences™: Apeel

E

Have you ever heard of Apeel before? Whether you have or haven't, You may have already eaten a piece of fruit at some point that was covered in it. Apeel is a plant-based coating or 'peel' that helps produce stay fresh for longer by slowing water loss, preventing oxidation and protecting against environmental stress, which are the primary causes of food spoilage. It uses a microscopic amount of Monoglycerides and Diglycerides, which are naturally found in fruits and vegetables, to create a breathable extra layer that keeps moisture inside the produce while keeping oxygen out. While these glycerides can be extracted from any fruit or vegetable, Apeel extracts them from widely grown plant oils that are passed through a purifying process to remove allergens, impurities and trans fats. Apeel claims that it only uses plant oils from non-GMO and sustainably grown sources. So, what's the issue? Find out in this episode of Fatal Conveniences™. David Reid: Remineralizing Your Body, Shilajit, and Manna Vitality

E

Ever considered how the minerals we take in from our food and environment significantly affect our health and vitality? The industrial revolution has altered our natural landscape and our health, leading to the demineralization of our food sources and, consequently, our bodies. What we can do to counteract this is what we will unpack in this episode of the Darin Olien Show with guest, David Reid. David is the co-founder of MANNA Vitality. He has been traveling across the globe for over a decade searching for Fulvic acid and nutrients gathered from both the Earth and the sea, from the highest point and lowest points on the planet, to provide a comprehensive and enhanced mineral therapy. We also explore the incredible benefits of shilajit, a potent black mineral that has been an essential component of Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years. You'll learn about its ability to upregulate collagen, mitochondria, and anabolic hormones, and the trace minerals it contains. What we discuss: 0:08:32 - Natural vs Synthetic Minerals 0:11:35 - Making Sustainable Salt From Dead Seawater 0:17:12 - Exploring the Ancient Origins of Shilajit 0:25:52 - Importance of Nature in Maintaining Health 0:35:26 - Exciting Era of Consciousness and Wellness 0:41:17 - Water's Role in Body Functioning 0:51:03 - Natural Remedies 0:58:17 - Blockchain Transparency in Marketing Thank you to our sponsors: Manna Vitality: Go to www.mannavitality.com and use code DARIN20 at checkout for 20% off. Natural minerals play a crucial role in human health and their lack can lead to various diseases and conditions. The industrial revolution has inadvertently stripped both our bodies and our plants of these essential minerals, necessitating a journey to rediscover and replenish these micronutrients. 2. Shilajit, a powerful black ooze used in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine, is a remarkable substance capable of upregulating collagen, mitochondria, anabolic hormones, and macro and trace minerals. Its key component, fulvic acid, plays a crucial role in making minerals bioavailable. 3. Modern society's focus on profits has often overshadowed the importance of health. Natural products like Manna, which prioritize our health, are crucial in this context. Shilajit, a component of Manna, remineralizes and electrifies the fluid in our bodies, enhancing hydration, aging, and overall health. The cell membrane potential also plays a significant role in boosting our immunity.

Vani Hari: The Truth About The Food We Are Being Sold

E

Did you know there is no pumpkin in a pumpkin spice lattee? In this episode of The Darin Olien Show, I chat with Vani Hari about the carcinogenic ingredients that multi-billion dollar companies are putting in the food they sell us. While most of these companies have the recipes to make their products healthier for Americans, they make the decision to continue feeding us poor-quality foods. Thus, the importance of being educated and looking out for ourselves when grocery shopping. Vani also explains how you can make the transition from eating processed and artificially-flavoured foods to eating healthy and whole foods smoother. She shares a few of her favourite snack and breakfast options and how you can get started in the kitchen. Vani Hari is an activist that lives in North Carolina and the author of the new book, The Food Babe Way, which guides 21 essential habits she taught herself to take control of her health. What we discuss: 04:54: Why did Vani start looking at her diet? 10:51: How did Foodbabe get started? 21:10: How can we make the transition towards healthy food smoother? 30:43: What is in a Pumpkin Spice Lattee? 42:00: How is the system working against us? 45:27: What is Vani currently working on? Key takeaways: We have the obligation to educate ourselves on what is happening to our food. The ultra-processed foods that enormous companies are putting on the shelves at grocery stores are not the best for our health despite their marketing efforts to make it appear as so. Education is the first step in making informed decisions. We must learn how to rely on our own cooking skills to eat and not the meals which are made by a machine. Learning how to cook with whole ingredients is the easiest and simplest way to make eating healthy an achievable goal. The system is working against us. Our food is not being made to energize us nor to fuel us anymore. Our food is being made in a way to maximize profits all while delivering the bare minimum nutritional factors. Tips To Increase Your Skin's Natural Glow

E

For years we have been inundated with advertisements for skin care that fights aging and wrinkles. Women in particular have been targeted, as society has a particularly high standard for their appearance. In fact studies have shown that women spend almost 10 times more on cosmetic products per year than men. Additionally all of these skin care products claim to help with smoothness or reducing acne. What these marketing schemes aren't transparent about is the toxic chemicals included in these products such as mercury, which can cause toxicity and poisoning leading to tremors, changes in vision and hearing, and memory problems). These products also include PFOAs and PTFEs. These have been linked to cancer, endocrine disruption, and reproduction harm. Whatever is going on your skin is going in your skin and a lot of these ingredients included in "anti-aging" skincare products are toxic to our body. So, how do we obtain younger looking skin without putting our bodies (and skin) at risk? That's what we are going to explore in this episode of Fatal Conveniences Solutions – Alternatives for anti aging skincare. Mark Trebilcock: Inventing the Future of Gardening

E

Ever dreamt of being self-sufficient, growing your own food, and living in harmony with nature? In this episode of The Darin Olien Show, we chat with Mark Trebilcock, a passionate gardening innovator, shares how his revolutionary Dirt Locker device is a game changer in our interaction with the landscape. We tackle the significance of food sovereignty, the potential of land usage for food production, and the infinite benefits of utilizing recycled materials. But, innovation doesn't come without challenges. Our guest's journey from initial patent denial to eventual success is a testament to the power of perseverance and the joy of creating something new. As we look into the future, we see endless potential in further expanding the Dirt Locker system and developing additional products that make landscaping more efficient and sustainable. Resistance to change in the industry is a mountain to climb, but the benefits of the Dirt Locker—from cost-saving to land reclaiming—make it a peak worth pursuing. What we discuss: (0:00:07) - Gardening Innovation and Terracing Inspiration (0:11:10) - Growing Your Own Food Is Important (0:21:44) - Overcoming Resistance and Creating Change (0:36:21) - Developing Additional Products for Landscaping (0:42:46) - Learn More About Guest, Rate Podcast Key takeaways: The Universe is constantly giving us gifts. They may not always look like gifts at first glance. However, when we look back at the hardships and challenges the Universe has thrown our way, we can see how they were necessary for change. Remember that rejection is redirection when you are going through frustrating times. And to look out for the gifts the Universe is sending your way. When you are following your passion is that there's always going to be resistance, or at least at some point. And it's not about the resistance itself, but what you do with that resistance. You can decide to sit back and be a victim. But if you're really passionate about what it is you are working towards, then you must take the anger you're experiencing from this resistance and channel it into the creativity. Peter Singer: How to Make Ethical Food Choices and Respect Animal Rights

E

Is eating meat an ethical practice? In this episode of The Darin Olien show, we navigate the often-unseen implications of factory farming on our environment and society, shedding light on issues ranging from subsidized grain, antibiotic resistance, and climate change with Peter Singer. Peter's expertise in bioethics offers a unique perspective into the relationship between our awareness and actions, illustrating how education can help mitigate animal suffering and make a difference. The discussion probes deeper into the ethical dimensions of our daily dietary choices. We dissect the conditions of factory farming and the psychological toll it takes on the workers. While the reality is grim, there's hope through informed choices and supporting organizations striving for change. We also investigate the flourishing field of aquaculture, its effects, and the possibility of vegan alternatives. Regardless of your current lifestyle, this episode is a thought-provoking examination of how we can align our food choices with our ethical beliefs for a healthier, more sustainable future. Join us on this enlightening journey—it might just change the way you think about your plate. Peter Singer is an Australian ethical and political philosopher best known for his work in bioethics and his role as one of the intellectual founders of the modern animal rights movement. He is the author of Animal Liberation, the 1975 classic credited with triggering the modern animal rights movement. What we discuss: (0:00:07) - Animal Liberation and Sustainable Living (0:11:47) - Factory Farming's Impact on Environment & Society (0:20:43) - Meat, Ethics, and Climate Change (0:27:04) - Ethics and Bioethics (0:33:34) - Factory Farming and Ethical Choices (0:46:40) - Christian Views on Animal Dominion, Aquaculture Concerns Key takeaways: The reason why we eat meat is because we evolved with a taste for high density food. From most of our evolutionary history, we had a struggle to get enough food to be healthy, to thrive, to be active and to reproduce and bring up our children. So we developed a taste for meat in particular because it is a high density food and if you could catch and kill a large animal and eat it, then you were meeting your nutritional needs for some time. We still have this taste for meat because evolution works slowly and it doesn't take account of the fact that now we can walk into a supermarket and choose for a wide variety of foods, including nourishing ourselves very well by plant based foods. We are price conscious, hence why factory farming is a real thing. Factory farming is the combination of the idea that we want animal products, that we'd like to eat them and we want them as cheaply as possible. And factory farming has developed over roughly the past century to produce these foods more cheaply, to apply technology to them, to apply basically industrial production processes to them, standardizing things, getting cheap labor. This has created a disaster of a situation for the animals, for the climate, and for our own health. Factory farming causes harm to local people too. Anybody who lives near a factory farm knows that they're terrible neighbors. For one thing, when the wind blows to you from them, the manure smell is awful. They also attract millions of flies which are around your place and of course they also pollute the water around. It also runs when there's unusual rainfall. It runs into the rivers, kills thousands of fish, makes the rivers unswimable. How to Stay Cool Without The Air Conditioner

E

When that heat hits, it's not fun. Most people do not like to be hot and sweaty when relaxing at home. But I've made it a habit over many years to wait longer and longer to turn my air conditioner on. And you know what? The more I did that, the more heat I was able to take. We get so used to being comfortable, the second we feel uncomfortable, we reach for a solution. The body can handle a little heat! It's actually good for us to get a little cold, and to get a little hot. That's why in this episode of Fatal Convenience's Solutions, I'm going to explore natural ways to stay cool the rest of the summer…without the air conditioner. Torrey DeVitto: How to Reconnect With Nature and Source

E

When was the last time you noticed the love in your life? In this episode of The Darin Olien Show, I chat with Torrey DeVitto about the importance of keeping our focus on love. And by love, we don't mean a significant other- we're talking about the only feeling that is real in this human experience of ours. We're not meant to be in these individual bodies - we are all part of one big thing. And love is what brings us back to feeling connected to this big thing. Torrey also explains how Nature is a great way to explore what it is us humans go through. If you think of the cycles we go through in our human experience, nature goes through almost the same ones. And it's true for the animals and for the flora. Thus why nature is a great place to explore when we are experiencing a difficult time in our lives. Torrey DeVitto is an actress, advocate, philanthropist, and producer. She is best known for her six season run on the NBC drama, "Chicago Med" playing Natalie Manning, the 'girl next door' and a doctor in the ER Pediatrics division. Outside of her acting work, Torrey's mission is to grant access and bring knowledge of wellness and philanthropy to as many people as possible. What we discuss: 05:51: What is the hardest part of Torrey's career? 11:14: Why did Torrey get into hospice work? 15:17: How to look at life through the lens of death? 23:34: What does Torrey do to cultivate her practice? 31:55: What are the things that throw off Torrey the most? Key takeaways: Nature is a great way to explore what it is us humans go through. If you think of the cycles we go through in our human experience, nature goes through almost the same ones. And it's true for the animals and for the flora. Thus why nature is a great place to explore when we are experiencing a difficult time in our lives. When you really focus on it, you see how us and nature are all one. The only thing that is REAL is love. Everything else is an illusion and doesn't exist. Nothing real can be threatened and nothing unreal really exists. So when you feel like you are out of source, remind yourself the whole concept of how we're not meant to be in these individual bodies and we are all part of one big thing. If you look at life through the lens of death, you may come to realize that is actually a celebration of life. However, this is only the case if you allow yourself to live a life worth celebrating. To do this, you must live a life where you are connected to source and living in harmony with nature. Secrets of a Safer Sound: How to Protect Yourself From Electromagnetic Frequencies

E

We talked about how convenient it is to be able to talk to family or friends, attend a work meeting, listen to your favorite music or podcast, all while being able to move around without the hassle of wires getting tangled or in the way. But this convenience comes at a serious cost. The bluetooth technology that these wireless headphones use expose us to a specific type of low-level EMFs. Research has shown that plants, animals, and humans can all be damaged by these frequencies, with children being much more susceptible. Is there a solution to this fatal convenience? Laura Putnam: How to Get More Movement In At Work

E

Do you usually eat your lunch at your desk? In this episode of The Darin Olien Show, I chat with Laura Putnam about how our society is built around sitting down. Our cities are made for driving, our offices are made for sitting, and our homes are made for lounging. But all of this sitting-down time is detrimental to our health, thus the importance of incorporating movement in the areas of your life where you spend most of your time: at work. Laura also shares a few movements you can easily incorporate in your day-to-day to get started and discusses which movement patterns are best for you. Laura is a speaker, author, and activator. She founded Motion Infusion in 2008, inspired by her discoveries around the need for motion. Movement is one of the best things we can do for our bodies and our brains. The problem is, we all live in a world that conspires against us getting active - or being well. She believes it's time we take action. What we discuss: 07:21: What made Laura start her career in movement? 11:20: What was Laura's experience with teaching her method to children? 16:40: If we're born to move, why are we discouraged to do so by society? 22:42: How can you incorporate more movement in your life? 28:26: What movements can you implement right away? 33:06: Is exercise really necessary to be healthy? 44:06: Are we being productive if we aren't moving? 52:05: What kinds of movement patterns are best? Key Takeaways: The biggest misconception when it comes to getting active is what it means to get active. The reality is that you don't need exercise; what you need is movement. So if you don't want to spend one hour at the gym every day, you don't need to. But you need to find opportunities in your day-to-day to get movement in, such as taking your meetings standing up or parking your car further away from the metro station. As adults, we spend most of our time at work, sitting down at our office. Given this takes up the bulk of our days, your workplace should be the first place you look to leverage as an opportunity to incorporate more movement into your day. Whether it's taking your phone calls standing up, walking to get lunch, or keeping your trash can far away from your cubicle, any of these types of hacks can help you get more movement in easily. It's just a question of setting it up for yourself, once. With the way we live our day-to-day, an alien watching us humans go through life would believe we are born to sit. But that couldn't be further from the truth - we aren't meant to be sitting in our cars, office chairs, and sofas for the majority of our days. We are meant to get up and move. How to Naturally Eliminate Body Odor

E

The human body is supposed to sweat, so when you block your sweat glands with chemicals, they can't do their job and you're messing with your health. We don't want to be sweaty and smelly, so it might seem like deodorants are our only option. But chemical baths for our pits clogging up our lymph nodes and exposing ourselves to chemicals are not the way to go. There's a lot of data around deodorant linked to breast cancer, hormone changes and endocrine disruption. One of the main culprits is aluminum, which is found in these products. One study stated that aluminum is known to have a genotoxic profile capable of causing both DNA alterations, and epigenetic effects. Fortunately, there are solutions that will reduce the smell, and won't compromise your health. Due to the media coverage on the link between breast cancer and aluminum in deodorants consumers have become increasingly aware of the chemicals they place on and around their bodies. This has caused a major shift in the market to accommodate the demand for more natural, less harmful products - which is great! If we move away from chemical deodorants? What do we use instead? How do we know the deodorant we are buying is actually safe for our health? In this episode of Fatal Conveniences Solutions, we're exploring the solutions for deodorant. Benjamin Knight Fuchs: How to Eat Your Way to Better Skin

E

Ever considered how the food you eat impacts your skin? In this episode of The Darin Olien podcast, Benjamin Knight Fuchs and I explore the profound links between nutrition and skincare. As a pharmacist, he shares insights into how the principles used to promote muscle growth can be applied to skin health. We discuss the detriments of ultra-processed food on our skin and overall health and the need for a health revolution. We need to make a shift from external cosmetic products and surgeries to a lifestyle enriched with proper nutrition. We also tackle the misconception of beauty products and the risks of an excessive reliance on external products to resolve our skin issues. Instead, we need to look at raw living foods that are rich in nutrients and beneficial for both our overall health and our skin. Benjamin Knight Fuchs is a registered pharmacist, nutritionist and skin care chemist. For the past 35 years, he's been developing pharmacy-potent skin health products for estheticians, dermatologists, plastic surgeons and his own savvy customers. He formulated Truth Treatment Systems™ because he saw the need for topical treatments that worked with the biochemistry of the skin. His products augment and enabled dermal processes at the skin cell (not surface) level. What we discuss: 02:10: How did Darin and Benjamin meet? 04:35: What is missing in today's beauty products? 11:38: What is the number one most searched skincare ingredient? 14:19: What do most people not realize about their skin? 21:53: Why is moisturizer bad for your skin? 29:20: What's the difference between alpha hydroxy acids and hylaronic acid? 31:26: What is the most dangerous chemical we apply on our skin regularly? 34:10: What's the difference between sunscreen and sunblock? 36:30: What is the role of melanin in our skin? 40:02: What is the role of melatonin in our health? Key Takeaway: The viable living cells in your skin are down at the bottom and not at the top. At the top of your skin, or the skin that is exposed to the external world, is really only dead skin. Thus, if you really want to change your skin, you've got adopt strategies that help the ingredients from the surface make their way down to the lower levels, where the living cells are. Most people think that a lack of collagen, calcium, or peptides are the reason why they are aging. As a result, they tend to supplement these nutrients. However, the real nutrient they should be focusing on replenishing is Vitamin C. Vitamin C is the quintessential anti-aging vitamin. It builds the connective tissue and restores the body back to its useful state and eliminates the problems that people all the people have when they age. You ever see how a person walks when they're aging and their bones are soft and their skin is loose? All that are signs of connective tissue deterioration, which a lack of Vitamin C can be responsible for. When you exercise, your body secretes chemicals which will activate and connect the tissue in your face. Thus, when you lift weights, you're actually stimulating collagen in your face. However, you can also exercise the skin topically. This is because exercising only helps with the top layer of the skin. If you want to treat the skin cells that are at the lower levels, you need to go further than that. Think about it this way: we know that when you exercise the muscles, you're tearing the muscles up and then the muscles grow back. Well, the skin has its own version of tearing up the muscles. It's called exfoliation. With exfoliation, you are removing dead cells off of the surface, and sending signals down the lower living cells that they can pump new cells to the top, revealing newer looking and more radiant skin. Protect Your Mouth Microbiome With These Natural Solutions

E

Your oral microbiome is just as important as your gut microbiome. Your oral microbiome is linked to your digestion, immunity, nutrient absorption, cardiovascular health, and so much more. This means, when we use products that disrupt our oral microbiome, we also disrupt our countless other systems of the body. Mouthwash happens to be one of these products. It may leave your mouth with a minty fresh scent, but it's also killing the bacteria that are trying to keep your teeth and gums healthy. You know that cool mint Listerine that looks cool and minty? It contains dye green number three, which has been linked to bladder cancer. And then the original Scope contained yellow number five made from a derivative of coal tar. And blue number one has been connected to cancer in many of the animal tests that have been done. This is why in today's episode, we are going to explore solutions for the Fatal Convenience: Mouthwash. Robert Greene: The #1 Way to Protect Yourself From Being Deceived By Others

E

What happens when we make a conscious effort to truly understand the intricacies of human behavior and social intelligence? In this episode of The Darin Olien Show, I chat with Robert Greene about self-awareness, the ability to recognize our own flaws, and how this recognition propels personal growth. Transitioning to the idea of deception, we emphasize the need to develop a sense of detachment when observing people, drawing on Carl Jung's concept of the enantiodromia to recognize contradictions in character traits. Oftentimes, people show us exactly the opposite of who they really are and most people tend to take this person who is standing right in front of them for face value, hence ending up being deceived in the long-term. We also discuss the pressing need for authenticity in a digital-driven world. Robert stresses the importance of fostering real-life connections and empathy and to put our phones away. Robert Greene is the author of the New York Times bestsellers The 48 Laws of Power, The Art of Seduction, The 33 Strategies of War, The 50th Law, Mastery, The Laws of Human Nature, and most recently of The Daily Laws. In addition to having a strong following within the business world and a deep following in Washington, DC, Greene's books are hailed by everyone from war historians to the biggest musicians in the industry. What we discuss: 04:00: Why did Robert write his book? 11:20: How can we open up our consciousness? 17:13: How can we build up new skills once we recognize our weaknesses? 23:05: What strategies can we resort to cultivate awareness? 29:56: What can we do better as a society? 45:59: What does our history say about us? 51:21: How has Robert's stroke affected his life? Key Takeaway: While many of us tend to prefer interacting online with others, we fail to realize how many cues and messages we lose out on. See, about 95% of the communication we receive from someone is through their non-verbal cues. When chatting with someone online, these are cues you can't get. Thus, this creates an opportunity for both parties to fall into traps they otherwise may not if they were to interact with these people in person. If you can't detach yourself from your emotions, then you're most likely an easy target for people who are masters at deceiving others and have their own agenda. That being said, it's important to develop a sense of detachment from your emotions and being able to observe people objectively. This is because people tell on themselves all the time - but you need to be receptive to the cues. When you take your emotions out of the equation, you can objectively analyze people who may be on a mission to extract something out of you. Remember, people always tell on themselves - you just need to actually listen without letting your emotions get in the way to try and rationalize truths. It's human nature to point our finger at others and blame them for deceiving us, hurting us, or manipulating us. This is because it's the easy way out. When you point the finger at someone, then you immediately relieve yourself of all responsibility to make sure it doesn't happen to you again… until it does. See, deception starts with you - YOU allowed yourself to be deceived. That's why it's important to be self-aware and look inwards. There may be some weaknesses or blind-spots you don't realize you have that make you an easy prey. 4 Simple Solutions for Cleaning Up Your Cleaning Products

E

We all know that to keep our windows and glass tables shiny and streak-free, we cannot settle with just water and regular soap for cleaning. In effect, window cleaners are common in households not only across the United States but across the whole world. The overall market of glass cleaners has a moderate CAGR of around 6.3% (Future Market Insights , 2023). It was valued at US $3.31 billion in 2022 and is expected to reach US $6.1 billion by the end of 2032 (Future Market Insights , 2023). Meaning that the number of users will increase in the following years. However, the popularity of these products doesn't mean that they are all good for health. While it may seem convenient to grab some bathroom and window cleaner off the shelves at the grocery store, I want you to become aware of other convenient options you have readily available to you that are a cleaner solution for your everyday cleaning products. Dr. Sam Faramarzi: Discovering the Power of Conscious Connection in Holistic Healing

E

What if you could heal your body by healing your emotional and mental health, first? In this episode of The Darin Olien show, we unravel the intricate links between physical ailments and emotional and mental health. Dr. Sam shares her unique perspective on the manifestation of symptoms as a result of suppressed truths. She explains the role of Qigong, a Chinese form of energetic medicine in unveiling these unspoken truths. We float into discussions about spiritual connection and personal growth, highlighting the importance of self-awareness and its revelations. Dr. Sam also walks you through practical tips to improve your biochemistry, brain activity, and mindset, encompassing everything from journaling to detoxification. We end our enlightening discourse reflecting on the value of conscious connection, the power of embracing growth, and the need to cherish our fleeting time. Dr. Saman Faramarzi (also known as Dr. Sam), is the Founder of SAFA Life and Wellness. She is also the leading Naturopathic Doctor at Remedy Place. She received her doctorate from Bastyr University, one of the nation's top ND programs. She has over 10 years of clinical experience, specializing in nutritional biochemistry, the microbiome, mind-body medicine, and intravenous therapy. What we discuss: (0:00:00) - Exploring Naturopathic Medicine and Healing (0:08:49) - Addressing Obstacles and Nourishing the Body (0:14:23) - Spiritual Connection and Personal Growth (0:31:00) - Cultivating Energy and Connection (0:34:51) - Exploring Qigong, Gratitude, and Detoxification (0:50:37) - Conscious Men and Quality Supplements (1:02:40) - Embracing Growth and Appreciating Time Key takeaways: We are constantly being fed things from both our inner and outer world that create an inbalance in us and which we're not properly addressing. This means we are storing the burden of negative emotions in our body in addition to the chemicals that we are exposed to in the outer world. As a result, certain body parts can't break down these negative emotions and toxins because the cup is too full and it's not getting drained properly. For example, our liver tends to take on anger and resentment, in addition to certain toxins such as mold. The reason we are all depleted is because we're not nourishing our mind and our soul. We have been thought to take care of this physical body and no one's taught us that we have to take care of our energetic body and our spirit body as well. Spirit controls energy, which controls matter and it's a powerful thing that goes bi-directionally; matter controls energy, which controls spirit as well. Many of us look for our happiness in other people. We look at our significant others, our kids, and even our pets as a source of joy and happiness. However, this is the wrong place to look for and depend on for real happiness because they can disappear at any second. Plus, this puts an immense pressure on the people you love. Depending on people for happiness depletes them of their own energy in order to make ourselves vital. E

Did you know 75% of people living in the United States suffer from dehydration? This causes fatigue, brain fog, irritability, hormonal issues, poor digestion, and lack of proper functioning of different systems in your body, and more. In fact, your body can't always differentiate between your feelings of hunger and thirst. Which means, when you feel hungry, it could actually mean you're just thirsty. Confusing these feelings can lead to excess food intake and unwanted weight gain. Although most people will use sports drinks and regular tap water to hydrate themselves, these are not the most effective ways to do it and come with certain effects that affect our health. Therefore, we must look for safer and healthier alternatives to prevent dehydration. That's what we explore in this episode of Fatal Conveniences Solution edition. What I discuss: 02:24: How big of a problem is dehydration? 08:42: What are the benefits of proper hydration? 09:30: What are my top 3 choices for remineralizing your water? Tracy Duhs: The Science of Water + The 9 Basic Pillars for Transforming Your Health

E

Have you ever reflected on the profound impact of water on your health? In this episode of The Darin Olien Show, I chat with Tracy Duhs who explains how our bodies are a symphony of water molecules that define our bone and cell structures. Tracy's insights on the significance of basic health habits like grounding ourselves with the earth and nurturing relationships beautifully underscore the holistic nature of well-being. Plunging further into our exploration, we delve into the complex chemistry of water and discuss its bioenergetic frequency profile. Tracy educates us on the importance of drinking water that resonates with our biological water body and the magic of natural spring water. Tracy also shares tips on creating a sacred sleep space and the benefits of movement for our bodies. We delve into the transformative power of creative playtime, mindfulness, and plant medicines in furthering self-understanding. Tracy works as a modern wellness advocate specializing in the restorative powers of intelligent hydration. She has parlayed her wealth of experience and knowledge into a multi-dimensional career in wellness advocacy and education, starting with her podcast, HYDRATE. Tracy frequently consults large corporations and hotels to help build and facilitate wellness experiences. She also serves as the Director of the International Brain Summit. She is the founder of the Sanctuary Wellness Experience in San Diego and co-founder of Hydrate at the Sanctuary. What we discuss: 02:28: Why did Tracy want to write this book? 08:14: What's the issue with school for our children? 11:03: Where did Tracy's interest in water come from? 18:58: What is the latest thing Tracy learned about water? 27:28: What would Tracy do to educate people more about water? 31:08: How can we restructure water? 36:31: What are the nine pillars of health? 39:56: What is Tracy's mindfulness practice like? 49:02: What is Tracy's bedtime regimen? 51:50: Where can you learn more about Tracy? Key takeaways: Restructuring your water doesn't have to be expensive - you can do it with a few simple steps at home with things you already have. A few easy ways include adding sea salt to the water. As a result, the water's molecular structure can be altered or organized in a way that enhances its properties. The same can be said about stirring your water with a spoon; this movement helps recharge your water at the frequency your body needs. Lastly, speaking to your water before you drink it also helps alter the water's frequency so that it is coherent with what your body needs. Water may be clear, but it's so much more than its chemistry - Its frequency profile has to be coherent with your body for it to properly benefit you. To learn if the water you are drinking resonates with you and your body, pause and acknowledge how the water you ingested is making you feel right after you drink it. Does it make you feel thirsty? Does it make you feel hydrated? Does it make you feel happy? If you don't feel hydrated after drinking water, then the frequency of the water you are drinking is not coherent with what your body needs at that moment. Water, food, information, conversations, environments, and sleep are only a few things among the nine pillars of health that we tend to forget about in today's modern society. These are simple, basic pillars we can easily take control of and optimize. Making small changes to your daily habits could be the key to upgrading your vitality. Alice Chun: How to Transform Your Childhood Pain to Power With Social Entrepreneurship

E

Are you passionate about the stuff you do to make a living? In this episode of The Darin Olien Show, I chat with Alice Chun about her passion to help those who are in need around the world, through social entrepreneurship. While her passion to help others in need and reduce humanity's carbon footprint didn't work out in the non-profit world, it is tremendously successful as a socially responsible for-profit company. With 1.6 billion people who live without access to electricity around the world, her solar-powered lightbulbs are making a difference for people all around the world. Alice also shares what ambitions and dreams she has for this purpose-driven company of hers and how her childhood helped her become the resilient entrepreneur she is today. Alice Chun is the cofounder and CEO of Solight Design and the inventor of the SolarPuff, the world's only self-inflatable, portable solar light. She's won numerous awards, including the U.S. Patent Award for Humanity. Her products have been exhibited at MOMA in New York City. Chun was previously a Professor of Architecture and Material Technology at Columbia University and a Professor of Design and Material Culture at Parsons the New School. What we discuss: 14:09: To what degree are we all inner-connected? 23:30: What is the issue with the big non-profit organizations? 27:05: How did Hillary Clinton help Alice's mission? 33:34: What is the symbolic value of Alice's product? 37:46: What are some of the challenges that Alice faced in her life? 48:18: What was Alice's process for building her product? 57:42: What is Alice's dream? 59:51: Where can we learn more about Alice? Key takeaways: The sun is the most powerful source of energy on this Earth - but the biggest source of light in this Universe is the one within you. This light within you is the light that will give you the strength to get through obstacles, to fight for what you believe in, and make the change you want to see. And no matter how hard it may be to feel that light within you on some days, you have the comfort of knowing that the sun always comes back up the next day - the light will always come back. When you are working towards creating something that is better than you, greater than you, and more important than you, it takes a lot of courage. Because of that, a lot of people wait until they find this courage before they start putting in the work to bring their ideas to life. However, that's the wrong way to do it. See, if you really believe in this idea you have and are really passionate about it, you will find that courage to take on this project will come naturally as you get started. At least, that's the case for most social entrepreneurs. Sonya Takau and Phil Rist: The Truth About How We Take Care Of Our Aboriginal People

E

Why aren't we doing more for our aboriginal people? In this episode of The Darin Olien Show, I discuss with Sonya and Phil from Process Unite the different issues Aboriginal people are still facing in Australia. From societal perceptions to standards of living, a lot has not changed in terms of how we treat Aboriginal people despite proclaiming progress. Sonya and Phil also chat about how many governments tend to compartmentalize the environment and the land they have built on, which comes with some heavy consequences. Sonya and Phil represent the Girringun Aboriginal Corporation. It is located at Cardwell, halfway between Townsville and Cairns in north Queensland. The corporation represents the interests of traditional owners from nine tribal groups: Bandjin, Djiru, Girramay, Gugu Badhun, Gulnay, Jirrbal, Nywaigi, Warrgamay, and Warungnu. What we discuss: 04:01: How was it like for Sonya and Phil to be on Down to Earth? 06:32: What are Sonya and Phil's focus on these days? 15:49: What would be the things Sonya and Phil want to get past? 21:31: How are people justifying not helping Aboriginal people? 25:39: What is the truth about the way Aboriginal people are living in Australia? 38:45: What are the young people's points of view of this reality? 55:49: How can we support Sonya and Phil's efforts? 58:19: How important are the animals and plants to the Aboriginal people? 1:07:48: What is the impact of compartmentalizing the environment? Takeaways: Most of what we think we know about our aboriginal people is not true and was fed to you by some political news outlet. While racism tends to be the main reason why we're not informed on the reality of our Aboriginal people, it shouldn't be the reason we stay ignorant about them. We can get out of our way and fact-check what it is we are being told that our governments are doing for our aboriginal people. So why don't we do it? When you think "I'll just take what I need" instead of "I'll take what there is", you're helping the environment. However, the reality is we often think the latter. At least, that is the case in a first-world country. But there is a small percentage of people who live in first-world countries that think the opposite way: aboriginal people. See, our environment is perfectly balanced to offer us everything we need to survive. Aboriginal people know that hence why they only pick what they need from nature. But us colonizers, we don't know how to do that - and because of that, we're imposing the consequences of OUR actions on these people.

How Corporations Can Help Promote Sustainable Consumption | Douglas Sabo, Chief Sustainability Officer at Visa

E

Did you know there are over 6,000 transactions per SECOND? That's a whole lot of consumption going on. Now, can you imagine what a difference it would make if only 1/10 of those purchases were made on sustainable products and brands? In this episode of The Darin Olien Show, I chat with Douglas Sabo, Chief Sustainability Officer at Visa about their sustainability efforts to diminish the carbon footprint emitted from the consumption propelled by their brand. From developing the Green Bonds Framework to reporting back on their sustainability efforts and partnering with brands that make sustainability accessible for consumers, Visa is working hard to ensure we are moving forward towards a greener planet. Douglas Sabo is Chief Sustainability Officer at Visa Inc. In this role, Sabo leads the development and oversight of Visa's global environmental, social, and governance (ESG) efforts, including Visa's ESG strategy, framework, reporting, and stakeholder engagement. Sabo also leads Visa's initiatives in environmental sustainability, human rights, and other areas of responsible business. In sustainability, Sabo's work includes building out Visa's initiatives in the company's operations as well as in empowering sustainable living and commerce. What we discuss: 06:36: Doug's involvement in Down To Earth 08:36: How did Doug end up at Visa? 14:28: What is Doug most excited about? 18:15: How does sustainability fit into Visa's efforts? 31:30: What green credit cards does Visa associate with? 35:54: What is the Green Bond framework? 40:34: How important is corporate accountability? 54:09: Where is the next sustainability opportunity? 57:32: What kind of collaboration is happening among industries and brands for sustainability? Key Takeaways: Oftentimes, corporations are guilty of greenwashing and tricking consumers into believing they're making a good decision by picking these brands. While the truth tends to come to light at some point, corporate accountability ensures they are doing what they claim to do. Brands and industries must collaborate and cooperate to reduce their emission footprint. While it has started happening, it tends to get very competitive as certain brands compete close to each other. However, cooperating and collaborating in this way allows them to change landscapes and move forward. Moving forward is the antidote to changing towards a better world. While most of our consumption is unsustainable, it doesn't mean it has to be like that or stay that way. Finding solutions and implementing solutions is the way to move forward toward a greener world. Antibiotics in Meat | Fatal Conveniences™

E

When it comes to animal agriculture, most animals aren't living freely pasturing in wide-spaced green areas. Breeders and animal farms are more likely to be torturous prisons than the happy Uncle Bill farm that appears on the logo of your favorite hamburgers. And guess what? It comes at a cost to your health. The animal industry is regulated differently by each country, but there's one thing in common: meat from sick animals can't be commercialized, but with the living conditions of the animals, they are inevitably going to get sick. So "naturally", the animals in farms are medically treated to prevent or combat infectious diseases, most of which are treated with antibiotics. You know the age-old saying: You are what you eat. So what happens to your health when the meat you are eating is pumped with antibiotics? This is what we explore in this episode of Fatal Conveniences™. What we discuss: 06:43: What are the dangers of antibiotic resistance? 08:07: How are these animals treated? 10:19: How is this a public health issue? 14:21: What can you do about it? What Is The Real Meaning of Love, Boundaries, and Being Powerfully You? | Danielle Laporte

E

Are you capable of forgiving? In this episode of The Darin Olien Show, I chat with Danielle Laporte about what it is to love, to forgive, and how they both impact a relationship. Many of us tend to lead in our relationships from our wounds and not from a state of consciousness that is equivalent to love, which is the reason why so many relationships these days go sideways at some point. Danielle also shares the role that karma plays in our lives and how we can recognize it in the relationships we are a part of. Danielle Laporte is a best-selling Canadian author, motivational speaker, entrepreneur, and blogger. Her book, The Fire Starter Sessions (Harmony, 2014), is a best-seller and focuses on finding your passion in life and work – inside the system and out. What we discuss: 02:01: Why does Danielle approach goal setting the way she does? 04:51: Is loving a feeling? 07:51: What is forgiveness? 20:02: Is karma a weapon? 23:54:What is powerfully you? 27:13: Are relationships really about love? 30:53: How do you know your boundaries are crossed? 43:51: Are we programmed by society? 45:24: Why you can't lead from your wound 47:49: What can you do right now? Key takeaways: We often fail to realize that some of our behavior in relationships is due to some unhealed wounds we have within us. These wounds speak for us and they may make us sound and act irrationally. The first step to healing these wounds is acknowledging them. Then, it's communicating them to those we share a relationship with so they can better understand where we're coming from. While it may feel tempting to forever act and speak from this place of hurt, we must do the inner work to heal these wounds. We can't blame these wounds forever. Love is a state of consciousness that allows us to think beyond just ourselves. But the ego wants us to believe love is just an emotion or a feeling because the ego always wants you to be in a state where you're constantly searching to "earn" and feel the satisfaction of accomplishing such a thing. This means you're constantly looking for ways for which you can earn someone's love or that you can feed someone your love, so they can earn it too. Therefore, to be in a happy and loving relationship, you must make the switch from ego to consciousness. We are programmed by society to perceive ourselves in certain ways. We see ourselves as a certain astrological sign, introverts, extroverts, and all types of other boxes they try to put us in. But the reality is that we aren't to be told who we are - we are to look within and find out for ourselves who we are. Incense | Fatal Conveniences™

E

Burning incense or resins has been a common practice among almost all ancient civilizations in the preservation of tombs, spiritual healing, and ceremonies. But…the commercialization of incense has led to incense no longer being what they once were… Did you know, incense contains 35% fragrances…and you know what's hiding under the fragrance label? Chemicals linked to cancer, hormonal imbalances, endocrine disruption, birth defects and reproductive problems. Plus, burning incense can emit benzene, toluene and other volatile organic compounds deteriorating the environment. Who Are You Allowing To Sit At The Head Of The Table? | Stef Ziev

E

Which version of you is sitting at the head of the table? In this episode of The Darin Olien Show, I chat with Stef Ziev about how easy it is to create the life you want, but also how easy it is to create a life where we believe we have no choice. She explains how we often tell ourselves stories that are coming from a place of despair. Instead, we should be looking through a lense of new opportunity. Stef also explains the importance of becoming conscious of who it is we are letting sit at the head table in our life. Without realizing it, we may be letting the perfectionist, pessimist, and fearful version of ourselves sit at this important spot. By becoming conscious of it, we can swap out which version of you is sitting at that front seat for one that wants the best for you. Stef Ziev is a former TV executive turned certified life and executive coach and author. Since starting her coaching practice in 2007, Stef has worked with thousands of successful and driven professionals, executives, leaders, and organizations in the fields of entertainment, law, marketing, financial services, accounting, engineering, and talent delivery at companies including The New York Times, Google, American Express, Viacom, NBCUniversal, Pearle Vision, and many more. What we discuss: 06:48: What led Stef to write her book? 14:21: How easy is it to create a "no choice" universe? 18:15: Are you aware of the stories you're telling yourself? 26:51: How can you build the skill to look at your life through a lense of new opportunity? 39:34: What is personal responsibility? 45:43: Are we living in a conscious or unconscious world? 50:58: Who's sitting at the head of the table? 56:08: How can we cultivate permission to live the life we want for ourselves? 01:01:29: Where can you learn more about Stef? Key Takeaways: We have the personal responsibility to become conscious in this unconscious world. Too many of us are operating on auto-pilot and from a place of stress. And from this place of stress comes a bunch of stories that don't make any sense. As we feed our brain with these thoughts, we unconsciously close out the world of opportunities for ourselves. We all have a certain version of us sitting at the head of our table. Sometimes it is our optimistic self and other times it is our pessimist self. In other cases, it can be our perfectionist self. While most of us don't instinctively have the best suited version of ourselves at the head of the table, we can take a second to acknowledge which version we allowed to sit down at this important spot of the table. When this version of ourselves is holding us back, we need to make the conscious decision to replace this unsuited version of ourselves with the one who will get the job done. Cultivating the life you want for yourself starts with taking personal responsibility for the universe you create for yourself. It starts with curating the right thoughts, asking yourself the right questions, and opening your mind to all the opportunities and choices you have available to you. When you don't do this, that's when you can fall intro the trap of creating your own universe of "no choice" where you settle for a life you don't want. Induction & Gas Stoves | Fatal Conveniences™

E

Gas stoves provide an instant and constant heat source and burn cleaner than coal and wood burning stoves. And people who love their gas stoves really loooove their gas stoves. But if they knew what their beloved cooktop was releasing into their home, would they still hold it in such high regard? Nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide and fine particulate matter are just a few harmful pollutants found in gas stoves, and it doesn't stop there. And what about induction stoves? They don't burn gas, so this must be an eco-friendly alternative, right? Induction cooktops offer fast and efficient cooking by using electromagnetic energy to transfer heat to magnetic cookware. But induction stoves also come with a warning. Pregnant women, children, or individuals who rely on a pacemaker should avoid this cooktop due to potential exposure to EMFs. And we know that EMFs are linked to all kinds of harmful consequences. Is boiling water faster worth the risk? That's what we will explore in this episode of Fatal Convenience. What we discuss: 05:36: The history of gas stoves 07:13: What are induction stoves? 07:51: What makes all of these convenient? 17:56: What can you do about it? The Healing Properties of Infrared Light Therapy with Robby Besner

E

How much time per day do you sunbathe? In this episode of The Darin Olien Show, I chat with Robby Besner about how disconnected we are from nature and how much of today's chronic illnesses are due to it. While most of us live a life where we can't completely cut off EMFs from our lives nor live outdoors, there is a solution to reconnecting with our balanced and natural energetic fields: infrared light therapy. Infrared light therapy involves the use of low-level light in the infrared spectrum to promote healing and provide various therapeutic benefits. While the effectiveness and specific applications of infrared light therapy may vary, some potential benefits include pain relief, improved circulation, reduced inflammation, enhanced immune function, enhanced tissue repair, and stress reduction. Robby Besner, PSc.D, is recognized as the leader in integrated infrared technology. Rob has always been an advocate of natural health and wellness. After many years of illness, Mr. Besner's teenage daughter was diagnosed with Lyme Disease. This began his mission to find alternative, holistic and homeopathic avenues of treatment. He discovered the natural healing effects of Infrared frequencies and began developing specialized devices and applications to help his daughter, and others, with similar health challenges. What we discuss: 06:13: How was Therasage born? 23:48: What is infrared? 33:35: What are EMFs doing to our health? 38:48: How did Robby package up the healing benefits of sunlight? 48:22: What are PMFs? 56:37: Are we asking the question "why" enough? 01:02:19: How does Robby determine what's the next product they will develop? 01:06:58: Where can you learn more about Robby? Key Takeaways: Infrared light therapy involves the use of low-level light in the infrared spectrum to promote healing and provide various therapeutic benefits. While the effectiveness and specific applications of infrared light therapy may vary, some potential benefits include pain relief, improved circulation, reduced inflammation, enhanced immune function, enhanced tissue repair, and stress reduction. Due to the over-usage of electronics that emit EMFs in our day-to-day, our bodies' energetic charge is unbalanced. We have too many positive charges and not enough negative charges. This can cause all types of health problems, particularly chronic illnesses. While the solution to rebalancing these charges is simple - i.e. grounding ourselves and spending time in nature, it's not something we can easily or realistically do all the time in today's modern world. Thus, the importance of both limiting exposure to EMFs and doing infrared light therapy. Most Americans don't spend enough time absorbing rays. This means that while your skin is safe from sun damage one can incur from over-exposure to UV rays, you're also missing out on the benefits you can only get from sunlight such as visible light and infrared (IR) rays. Visible light is the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that is visible to the human eye. It's important to expose yourself to it as it helps regulate the body's circadian rhythm and has a positive impact on mood and overall well-being. As for infrared rays, these have longer wavelengths than visible light and are often felt as heat. They can penetrate the skin more deeply than UV rays and has proven benefits in pain relief, tissue repair, and improved circulation. Vegan Food Labels | Fatal Conveniences™

E

The vegan food label has become increasingly popular in recent years, and for good reason. It allows individuals who choose to adopt a vegan lifestyle to easily identify products that align with their dietary choices and values. However, the vegan label can also be dangerous, as many people mistakenly believe that just because a food item is vegan, it must be healthy. This makes it confusing for a significant part of the public to make right decisions about their food intakes. It's time for us to start taking a second look at the vegan food labels to see the nasty ingredients hiding within that can be just as detrimental to our health as animal foods. If we want to use plant-based diets for the good of our health and the planet, we need to become educated beyond the labels we see on the front of food packages. Food marketing is scamming us of our health and it's time for it to end. That's why, in today's Fatal Convenience, we explore the Vegan Food Label. What I discuss: 07:46: How is meat consumption bad for us and the environment? 08:34: The history of veganism 12:09: Do we really need to kill animals to get nutrients? 14:31: Can you be healthy by avoiding dairy and meat? 15:09: What resources can you use to learn more? 16:51: What is this all doing to our digestive systems? 17:37: How can you eat a healthy vegan diet? How To Become Self-Sufficient With Zero-Waste Homes | Joost Bakker

E

Is your home currently operating in a way that allows you to be self-sufficient? In this episode of The Darin Olien Show, I chat with Joost Bakker about his vision of what a zero-waste world would look like. While we produce a lot of waste in our homes, we don't have a solution as to what to do with the waste at this moment. However, we have the technology to use our waste and our homes to transform them into a powerhouse and source of energy and food for ourselves, all while being as green as possible. Joost also shares how our food system is broken. The systems we have in place to feed our people aren't sustainable and it is only a question of time until it breaks. He proposes alternatives to some of the problems he notices in our food system, such as the milk system. Joost Bakker has been called a visionary, disruptor, environmental activist, and ahead of his time. Over the last 25 years, Joost has highlighted the world's wasteful ways using multiple platforms from art installations, floristry, design, and architecture to bars and restaurants. What we discuss: 01:05: What progress are the greenhouses experiencing? 08:00: What other places in the world is soil mined? 12:17: How did the fuel we have today was born? 18:22: Is our current food system hurting us? 21:37: How is the system failing us? 23:24: Why do we keep creating synthetic materials? 28:55: Why was Joost threatened to go to jail? 40:18: Can we make naturally-made houses? 49:33: How many opportunities are there in Los Angeles? 52:55: What did Joost do after each filming? 01:02:55: What is the #1 problem on earth? 01:06:00: Where to learn more from Joost? Key takeaways: We create a lot of waste and we don't know what to do with it. Most of it is simply fermented and will further contribute to our environmental crisis as it emits gas into our atmosphere. We need to pay attention to this problem and look for ways to minimize the impact we all individually have on the environment. Our homes should be the first place we look at. Our homes are currently being built in a way where they become waste at some point in time. But it doesn't have to be that way. There is a way to build a self-sustaining, zero-waste, productive house. We can and must build homes that provide shelter, produce food and generate energy. We must build our homes in the future to be self-sufficient. Our food system is broken. When we look at all the waste that is produced throughout the supply chain to post-consumption, there is so much that can be done to be more efficient with our resources. We need to challenge the way we cultivate our food in first-world countries so that we can sustainably feed ourselves. Fake Meats | Fatal Conveniences™

E

The awareness of the harmful consequences of meat consumption on human health especially processed meats and conventionally grown meats as well as the toll on the environment grows every day, and so, the need for plant-based protein alternatives increases as well. In recent years, we have seen a surge of various plant-based "meat" brands that sell the idea of replacing regular protein sources with vegan patties and tenders that are almost identical in looks and flavor to the animal version. Brands like Beyond Meat and Morningstar have increased popularity for proposing a way to enjoy old-fashioned animal flavors without actually harming any animal. However, these kinds of foods remain with the harmful effects of highly processed products and are filled with harmful chemicals and dyes. That begs the question: Are fake meat alternatives healthier? Are we making a healthier choice when we opt for plant-based meat alternatives over the real deal? This is what we explore today in this episode of Fatal Conveniences. Get ready to dive into the world of Fake Meats. What we discuss: 05:04: What is the history of fake meats? 09:56: Is Beyond Meat healthier than real meat? 12:35: What role does Fake Meat play in obesity? 15:24: What are the ingredients of Fake Meat? Finding Your Inner God and Listening to Downloads From Spirit with Eben Britton

E

Do you listen to the downloads the Universe gives you? In this episode of The Darin Olien Show, I chat with Eben Britton about his transition from the NFL towards becoming a Yogi. While it was difficult making the shift, Eben learned how to listen to the messages that the Universe kept sending him but have been ignoring for a long time. Through studying these messages and experiences that came from them, he learned how to move forward and step into his most powerful self. Eben also shares how important it is to trust your intuition when you are presented with these downloads as they allow you to find your inner God. The best way to find your inner God is to get in touch with your higher power through meditation practice. Eben Britton is the host of "The Eben Flow" Podcast, is a former NFL player, and cannabis advocate. What we discuss: 01:47: How Eben learned about Shakeology 05:55: About Eben 09:47: What wrongs Eben most about those in the plant medicine realm? 18:19: What happened when Eben and Mike parted ways? 24:57: How did Eben leave the NFL? 34:15: How do we carry shame and guilt? 43:11: How important is it to study experiences? 48:27: How important is it to act upon the messages you receive? 53:18: What is intuition? 59:05: How does Eben show up in life? Key Takeaways: Newsflash: Spirit doesn't give a fuck. When Spirit gives you a download, it couldn't care less if YOU do the work or not. Spirit has a message to spread and needs someone to act on it. And if you don't, regardless of whether you getting the download for a good reason, then Spirit will find someone else to carry your message. And you'll have to watch them do it. So if you're getting a message that is meant for you and you know it is from the bottom of your soul, but you're not acting upon it, then you're wasting your time, potential, and energy on other things. Too often, we spend too much time researching and hoarding information and not enough time going out there and getting our hands dirty with the studies we find. But the thing is study and experience work together. Without each other, meaning on their own, they are worthless. The information you learn but never apply and the experiences you live through but never reflect upon after the fact are equally worthless. We all have an inner God, we just need to develop a daily practice that allows us to get in touch with it. Whether it's through a meditation practice or spending time in nature, you need to quiet down the voices in your head to leave room for this inner God to come through and share its message. Kids Meals | Fatal Conveniences™

E

Parents have a lot on their plate, trying to raise and support their children. At the end of the day, battling with your child to eat healthy food may seem like a battle you're too tired to fight. Hence why so many parents turn to giving their kids food like chicken fingers, french fries, grilled cheese, and mac and cheese. The kids eat it without a fight…that's great, right? While in the moment this may seem like the easiest and best option, what are all these deep fried and processed foods doing to your children's health, in the short term and the long term? How to Replenish Life Force in Water With BioGeometry | Dr. Ibrahim Karim

E

In today's world, it's easy to get confined in the way that we heal our bodies and only think inside the box for ways to heal. That's why in this episode of the Darin Olien show, my guest Dr. Karim helps open our eyes to the lesser known, yet highly effective, practices that we can start to utilize to heal and optimize our bodies, such as biogeometry and sound therapy. Understanding biogeometry will change the way you think about your body and your health as it shows that we are not separate from the shapes, angles and proportions that surround us all the time, and that these shapes create energetic patterns that can introduce equilibrium and harmony into our own biological makeup. Dr. Ibrahim Karim, Ph.D. /Dr.Sc. is a graduate of the prestigious Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich, Switzerland and the Founder of the qualitative science of BioGeometry & the new Architecture and industrial design school that uses the subtle energy effect of geometrical shapes to induce harmony to our modern technological or natural environments. He currently teaches at several universities and supervises numerous postgraduate studies on the applications of the science of BioGeometry. What we discuss: 08:46: What is the biogeometry of the earth? 10:34: How did Dr. Kim discover biogeometry of the earth? 22:30: What is the life force on this earth? 38:17: Are the 8 rotations clockwise? 48:31: Are there really doctors in biogeometry? 53:45: How can you bring life force back to water? 01:06:32: How important is belief in biogeometry? 01:17:32: What role does your senses play? 01:24:59: Where to learn more about Dr. Karim Key Takeaways: BioGeometry is a science that deals with the Energy of Shape; it uses shapes, colours, motion, orientation, and sound to produce a vibrational quality that balances energy fields. BioGeometrical shapes are two or three-dimensional shapes specially designed to interact with the earth's energy fields to produce balancing effects on multiple levels on biological systems. Water is the basis of life force and has been for centuries, which we know through the traces ancient civilizations left us to discover. What we don't realize in today's modern world is we are engaging in activities that continuously deplete our water of its life force, which can cause health and environmental issues. Replenishing life force into our water can simply be done through the understanding of biogeometry and using the right types of energy to amp up its abilities. It's important to note that water's life force is never completely lost, but only diminished through imbalances in the surrounding energy. Preserving Our Lands and Developing Life Skills Through Nature | Jeffrey Ryan

E

How often are you immersed in nature on a weekly basis? For some of you, that question actually might be, how often are you immersed in nature on a monthly basis? Ideally we can get into nature daily, but in today's society, that often feels nearly impossible. This is what we are going to chat about today with guest Jeffrey Ryan, who recognizes the challenges of getting back to nature in today's society and provides solutions on how to do so. In this episode, Jeffrey and I discuss the deep need to connect to nature for our overall well being, the difficulties we face connecting to nature in our urban society, and the imbalances in the world from an environmental perspective. But most importantly, we talk about why it's important to preserve and manage land and the exciting prospect of "rewilding". Jeffrey Ryan is an author and speaker known for his travel and outdoor adventure writing. Ryan's books include "Appalachian Odyssey: A 28-Year Hike on America's Trail," "Blazing Ahead: Benton MacKaye, Myron Avery, and the Rivalry that Built the Appalachian Trail," and "Hermit: The Mysterious Life of Jim Whyte." In his writing, Ryan combines his interests in nature, history, and storytelling to create engaging narratives that inspire readers to explore the outdoors and learn about the past. What we discuss: 12:56: About Jeffrey 18:23: Why should you make being outdoors a priority? 22:21: What skills can you gain from hiking? 31:21: How is the preservation of nature enforced? 37:59: Where does the awareness of the preservation of nature come from? 49:35: What are the challenges that National Parks face? 53:05: Why don't people grasp the importance of our lands? 56:45: What are we doing right and wrong when it comes to taking care of our land? 01:04:25: What can nature teach us about ourselves? Key takeaways: Our land belongs to all of us. It belonged to the people before us, to us, and the next generations. Thus, the importance of preserving it. Our lands were protected throughout generations and through plenty of civilizations for a reason; they were saved for us because our lands are what allowed past generations to survive. This brings the question: why are we trying to destroy land that was saved for us? These are life skills that most of us tend to develop through experience, as life goes by. But what if we could gain these useful life skills a lot faster and under better terms? Hiking in nature can help you gain this life skill. When you're in nature without any help from the outside world, you have to learn how to deal with the spontaneous things the forest may throw at you. Whether it's a trail being blocked by a fresh stream that wasn't there before or a tree blocking your way, these situations help build that problem-solving muscle. As you experience more of these types of situations where you have to think on your feet, the easier it will be for you to deal with the next one coming your way, whether it's in the forest or at work. Sometimes, spending time with nothing else but ourselves is the thing we are most scared to do. That's why we listen to podcasts on our walks and blast music on our speakers when we shower. But when we do that, we're missing out on the opportunity to reflect and look within, which is important for our personal growth. This is why it's important to take time with yourself seriously and to completely disconnect and learn to spend time with your thoughts in nature. Microwave Popcorn | Fatal Conveniences™

E

Microwave popcorn is a worldwide popular comfy food we have all enjoyed while at parties, movie nights, family or friends gatherings, and much more. Many brands offer a wide variety of flavors and presentations, and while we all know it can be a nice addition to happy memories we will explain how it is simply much better to wipe them out of your diet. Not only do they have a high concentration of chemicals, preservatives and unnatural ingredients that can be harmful to human health they are also a relevant contributor of waste and unwanted chemicals in the environment. Regardless of their practicality and easy-to-prepare methods, the potential negative impacts that you might experience later on are not worth some popcorn. E

What do you do when life keeps throwing curveballs at you? In this episode of The Darin Olien Show, I chat with Oksana Masters about her childhood and how those first few difficult years of her life helped her become who she is today. While it could have been understandable for Oksana to feel a bit bad for herself given the experiences she lived through, she did not allow herself to dwell for too long. And as life threw more challenges at her, she continued to push through. As she looks back at all of the obstacles she surpassed, she shares with us her wisdom about the hard parts of life. Oksana also shares what motivates her to keep pushing in sports and reach excellence, despite all the challenges she faces. Oksana Masters is the most decorated Winter Paralympian in U.S. history. She's won 17 Paralympic medals — 14 at the Winter Games in cross-country skiing and biathlon, and three at the Summer Games in rowing and cycling. She's recently added the title of "author" to her extensive resume and her book, "The Hard Parts: A Memoir of Courage and Triumph," details her adoption story as well as the chilling traumas she endured during her time in the orphanage system in Ukraine. What we discuss: 002:47: About Oksana 06:52: Where does Oksana's drive come from? 13:41: Does Oksana view herself as a victim? 18:36: How did Oksana learn from her second leg amputation? 24:45: What's the hard part of Oksana's experience? 28:55: What is Oksana's experience in the orphanage? 33:02: How does being uncomfortable help you grow? 42:47: What's Oksana's experience with being "in the zone"? 46:36: Did Oksana feel like she was escaping from herself through sports? 49:27: Who is Oksana now? 52:05: When is Oksana's book coming out? 54:32: What is Oksana doing next?
