Ep 2626 - How to Create an Online Course w/ Dr. Carrie Rose
Welcome back to the Instant Impact podcast with your host, Elyse Archer! In today’s conversation, Elyse sits down with Dr. Carrie Rose to talk about building an online course. Dr. Rose is a #1 Best Selling Author, Educator, Entrepreneur, & Keynote Speaker, Thinkific Expert, and notably one of Huffington Posts Must Follow Women Entrepreneurs. Currently, she works with entrepreneurs, online marketers, and businesses around the country to provide the highest quality of learning strategies with the greatest amount of impact on a variety of different platforms. Carrie has created a course building process that uses the findings from over 500 research studies on how the human brain connects to content. Her strategy is based around the user and what benefits they are getting from the course and today she offers some insight into what that entails. First, she shares with us who may be a good candidate for building an online course. She says that in the end, you owe it to your family and yourself to put yourself in a place where if something were to happen, you could shift your focus to what is most important and meet the needs of your family. Outside of that, it depends on what you’re trying to sell--be it a service, coaching, or brick and mortar, there are plenty of opportunities to create a course. If you have something that you’re known for, expertise you can share, and a process that has the clear intention of getting your customer on the right path, you’re in a good place to hit the ground running. Carrie talks about the first steps we can take when we’re looking to build an online course. Something to watch out for, she says, is taking every bit of knowledge you know and shoving it into a course. This can turn into a 45-hour long course with massively long videos, which won’t retain the value you’re hoping to give. A better approach would be to look at your standard customer’s pathway to success and break down places where they may need guidance. You want to bring them from point A to point B and give them the quickest route to the most immediate win. Try to hone in on the ‘why’ and ‘how’ and turn those into your objectives. Finally, Carrie and Elyse talk about pricing, one of the most difficult things to do in the practice. Carrie’s insight is to think about the value of the solution you’re providing. The fastest and easiest way to gauge where you’re pricing should be is to test it in the market. If you’re giving it away for free, you’re not getting true data on who is interested in purchasing the course. She suggests not to wait to grow a list before marketing your course--run after it. Remember that quality is greater than quality. A shorter list with engagement is more valuable than a long list with none. What you’ll learn in this episode In today’s episode, you’ll gain some insight into what it takes to build an online course. You’ll learn what makes a good candidate for someone looking to establish a course, the benefits of having an online learning system, and how to price your content. Dr. Rose shares the foundational mentality that is needed to build an effective course and how to shift our focus to the perspective of the user. Ep 2525 - Unlocking Loyalty w/ John Ruhlin
Thanks for stopping by the Instant Impact podcast with your host, Elyse Archer. Today, Elyse talks loyalty with the loyalty expert himself, John Ruhlin. John is the author of “Giftology”, a book where he explains his philosophy on how to build better, deeper relationships in a shockingly easy way. He’s also a speaker and leads his team of giftologists who have created gift packages for some of the largest companies and pro sports teams in the world, but their mission and heart is to serve and take relationships for mid-sized, privately owned businesses to a new level using their Proven Process. John is a farm boy. He’s a blue-collar man who got his start interning at Cutco selling knives. With the help of his mentor, who he watched give free knives to CEOs, John had a lightbulb moment. It wasn’t about the knives, it was about the message behind sending the gift unprompted and without expectation. John and Elyse talk about how to get referrals without asking. Asking for a referral can be uncomfortable and awkward. John’s points out that most people give gifts out of obligation--be it a holiday or a special event. They also give cheap, meaningless gifts with a logo slapped on there. A better way to approach giving is to be consistent. The gifts your giving aren’t for giggles. They’re acting as artifacts that will leave an impression that can lead to being referred based on your generosity, thoughtfulness, and genuine care. As far as loyalty goes, John emphasizes the importance of inspiring actively loyalty. This means they are thinking of you and talking about you in their circles, bringing in more referrals. As he says, you don’t need to hire a full-time sales representative if your clients are referring you. By showing love with no strings attached, relationships flourish. Elyse mentions that industries are often dog-eat-dog and these thoughtful gifts cut through that. Remember, it’s not about the gift itself—they are a tangible way to show the care you have. So, what if you have a loyalty problem, either with clients or employees? Where do you start? John suggests that you take care of your own team and start internally. For example, John has his employees homes cleaned regularly and has their cars detailed on Mother’s day. By establishing a strong relationship with your employees and showing them love, the loyal bond that’s built pays off long term. John also suggests avoiding temporary gifts like food. Think about the cost per impression. You want a gift that will keep you in your client’s minds 365 days of the year, not the afternoon some fruit will last. Create lifelong, bucket list experiences for clients. What you’ll learn in this episode In today’s episode, you’ll learn how to build loyalty, both internally with your team, and externally with your clients through meaningful gift-giving. John shares some insight on how to identify a loyalty problem and how you can mend relationships by showing love to those around you. John tells us how much to spend on strategic gift-giving and what makes it so impactful. Thanks for tuning into another episode of the Instant Impact Podcast with your host, Elyse Archer. Today’s conversation is with Dr. Richard Shuster. Richard is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, host of The Daily Helping podcast, and genuinely great person. Elyse and Richard discuss how to shift our mindset to find our zone of genius, how to check if we’re feeling fulfilled, and why reaching that doesn’t need to be hard. Richard’s life was put into perspective when he had a near-death experience in a car accident. Before that moment, Richard went through the motions building the empire and grinding into success. But once he was forced to step back and evaluate who he wanted to be and where he wanted to go, he left the company he was working for and went into social work, ultimately becoming a clinical psychologist. Richard is all about helping those around him and shifting the focus from the self to others. When we are helping others, he says, our bodies respond positively physically and psychologically. By helping people become the best versions of themselves, Richard was able to find his Zone of Genius. When he finds himself here, work is effortless. He explains that when you come from a place of contentment in your life personally and professionally, goodness overflows into other aspects of your life. Elyse and Richard chat about how we are programmed into negative self-talk and how important it is to break out of that. Finding a catalyst in an experience to reframe your mindset. Find a silver lining in an event that impacted you. This is a process and a process that isn’t for everyone. It’s a journey moving through lamenting previous choices into a positive outlook. Finally, Richard gives us two simple checks we can ask ourselves to see if we’re fulfilled in our personal and professional lives: What do I love? Am I spending enough time in those areas? Yep—it’s that simple. If you wake up and are excited and ready to take on your Monday, bingo. If you’re dreading the morning on Sunday night, it might be time to make that shift. Ep 2323 - Making Quantum Leaps In Your Personal Brand w/ Gaynete Jones
Welcome back to the Instant Impact Podcast with your host, Elyse Archer! Today’s guest is Gaynete' (Edwards) Jones, a leading Millennial mentor, motivational speaker, best-selling author, blogger, YouTuber, founder of G.A.M.E. Changing Industries, and creator of The Book Boss Blueprint and The Goal Chaser VIP. Gaynete's mission is to help Millennial women turn their passions into profit, creating a life of comfort, fulfilment, and freedom for themselves. In this episode, she shares her incredible story and offers some tactical tips for building a brand based on adding value through genuine connection. Gaynete’s story is an inspirational journey of realization and growth. As a student, Gaynete was held at gunpoint by a band of crooked cops in South America. It was this humbling experience that opened her eyes to what really mattered. With this experience as a foundation, she explains that everyone has “hostage” situations—one where they may feel trapped. It’s in those moments that we assess our priorities. Her own priorities were brought front and center when her parents were both diagnosed with cancer. These events shifted something inside her. By taking little steps every day, she was able to snowball into bigger steps, leading to her finishing her best-selling book in just under three months. This “deathbed” perspective forces you to think about what you want your legacy to be, and that’s a key part of success. Gaynete offers insight into kicking complacency. She says motivation ebbs and flows. It’s natural to have moments where there’s no motivation at all. What’s important, though, is to remember that the results are the same regardless of motivation. The first step, she says, is to surround yourself with people who are doing things—those who are successful. Connect in real life or on social media and build a brand through the channels you form. Gaynete gives us her tips for intentional audience building: Post 1-2 minute focused videos every day. Encourage your audience to respond or write back. Reach out to pages with larger audiences to boost your following. Comment on resonating posts from large pages with something that will add value. This will bring traffic towards your page. Post simple infographics! These are helpful and more shareable. Try to answer questions or respond to every comment. Continue the conversation in DMs! What you’ll learn in this episode In this episode, you’ll gain some tactical tips for building a brand based on adding value through genuine connection, how to maneuver out of ‘hostage situations,’ and kick complacency by assessing your priorities. Ep 2222 - Secrets to Scaling w/ Mike Schumann
Welcome back to the Instant Impact podcast with your host, Elyse Archer! In today’s discussion, Elyse talks growth with Mike Schumann. Mike currently serves as the Vice President of Corporate Development for the start-up accelerator, MassChallenge. In this role, he leads the functional group responsible for helping MassChallenge's corporate partners to achieve innovation-related outcomes through relationships with high-potential startups that are aligned with strategic priorities. Elyse and Mike talk about some of the first things we can do to generate revenue from scratch. We’re talking from the ground floor. Mike shares with us that it’s all about having an outcome and goal in mind and working backwards from there, focusing on planning and structuring your strategy for growth. He says it’s vital to pick up the phone and learn. Elyse adds that it's important to constantly be on the lookout for feedback—what people are liking and what they aren’t. Mike delves into what some common factors that seem to be constant for successful startups. He emphasizes that it’s essential to be clear about what the problem is you’re solving. It’s equally as important to know who it is who has the problem and what it means to them if you can find a solution. On top of that, Mike shares that success can come from offering a $100 solution for a $10,000 problem. Beyond that, capture the proof. Use case studies as leverage and build a scalable sales process to match the growth. On the topic of problem-solving, Mike and Elyse chat about some actionable tips people can take to find the problem it is that they’re trying to solve. Mike says to think about the gaps in service. What small adjustments can you help make to open the door to a new market? He goes on to explain that you have to be open to failure. Frame it as an experiment—make mistakes and learn from them. Take obstacles and look at them as lessons. Mike also offers insight on pricing. The fact of the matter is, every company is going to have a different expectation for their ROI. Think about the alternatives they may go to and consider the momentum they have with the process they already use. How can you disrupt that and bring value? Finally, Elyse and Mike dive into how we can cultivate an intentional environment that sets us up for success. Mike says the place to start is with yourself. Think about how well you take care of yourself—what’s your morning routine? Are you mindful of your nutrition? Do you exercise? All of these factors come into play when we think about our environment. What about what you’re putting in your brain? Set aside time to fill your mind with positivity and something that will make you better. Additionally—network! Don’t be afraid of being in service—it will come back. What you’ll learn in this podcast In today’s episode, you’ll get some practical advice on how to grow and scale your brand. Ep 2121 - How to Cut Through the Noise in a Crowded Industry w/ Charles Specht
Welcome back to the Instant Impact podcast with Elyse Archer! On today’s show, Elyse has Charles Specht, a coach at The Permissions Group where he teaches insurance agents how to build a million-dollar book of business. Charles is an expert in helping people stand out against the crowd and rise above the noise in a crowded industry. Charles got his start working as a commercial insurance broker in 2000 before eventually shifting to a consultation position. That entailed helped large businesses oversee the agent they brought on. While he was doing this, he noticed how difficult it was for clients to trust their agents. This is when Charles pivoted into helping agents build trust through their planning and branding. In his industry, it’s often a price game. To avoid getting caught in the rat-race, Charles talks about how he helps his clients focus on their strengths. This can be anything from their passions to what it is exactly their firm can provide. A key part of this is finding a personal micro-niche. His process of finding that niche includes something he calls “C-3” or “Cold Call Carrot.” This is one statement that separates you from your competition. This statement includes who your work is for, what the rewards are, and how you get the job done. Charles also mentions how important it is to know what your client “ceiling” is. As he says, it’s better to go small than to go big. What he means is finding that perfect number of clients you can reasonably service, and build your micro-niche from there. By nailing down who you are trying to help and how you can solve problems they may be having, you can establish trust. Charles shares some actionable things we can do to establish that trust quickly. One of those things is showing prospects a timeline of what working with you could look like. By providing, in writing, specific solutions, trust can be built almost instantly. Another way to establish trust with a prospect is to provide testimonials. If you can say, show, and have other people back you up on what you’re an expert in, you’re much more likely to gain that vital trust. Finally, Charles and Elyse talk about the fine line of how much we put our personal lives out there on social media for everyone to see. For Charles, authenticity is a great way to build trust. People are attracted to transparency because they are able to relate to you on a human level. What you’ll learn in this episode In today’s episode, Charles shares some surprising tips on how to earn the trust of your prospect or existing clients. He gives us a window into how he helps people establish that trust through Cold Call Carrots, a statement of what puts you above the rest. He offers insight into building your brand on transparency and authenticity while providing excellent service through problem-solving. Ep 2020 - How to Double Your Income in 61 Days w/ Scott Groves
Thanks for tuning into Instant Impact with Elyse Archer! Today’s guest is Scott Groves, a top-level mortgage loan officer in California. Scott has built a career out of providing exceptional service from application to closing. Helping clients find mortgage solutions that meet their long-term financial needs is his primary focus. He’s the author of the best selling book Lead Generation: Double Your Pay in 61 Days. With this in mind, Scott is able to share with us his tips for increasing pay, revenue, and results efficiently and in a shorter amount of time. Scott built his Consolidated Coaching business by building those key, strong relationships in all aspects of his life, from professional to personal. Eventually, this lead him to write his best-seller. In a word, Scott tells us that it doesn’t matter what you’re selling—you need to do lead generating activities. But why 61 days? He says it’s about forming a new habit. By reading a chapter every day, just one tip, you’re committing to getting 1% better in some way, shape, or form. Carrying on that mentality, Scott shares with us the switch he made that gave him the biggest impact almost immediately—swapping his vocabulary from using “motivation” to “commitment.” You have to be committed to making those cold calls, committed to reading those few pages every day, committed to expanding your brand. Through that, we can achieve the lifestyle we’re after. A good place to start, Scott brings up, is creating an environment where you can be successful. By changing the physical nature of your surroundings, you can control the steps you’re taking to get things done. By setting ourselves up for success physically, we actively take a role in reminding ourselves what it is we should be focused on. This can take countless forms, be it a schedule, a stack of books you want to read, or a list of calls you need to make. Scott and Elyse break down what we can do to get in the mode of generating leads: Schedule a time for yourself to do lead-generating activities. Set aside a time of your day where you know you’re going to buckle down and get those calls out to clients and make connections Get good at interrupting interruptions. Turn off those automatic notifications and only keep up two apps that you know are essential. Show value to your clients by picking up their calls, but show value to yourself by establishing that your time generating leads is valuable. Later on, Scott and Elyse discuss the difference between marketing and lead generation and some important distinctions. Essentially, Scott explains, marketing is the last “stage” of lead generation. If you have great content and are getting lots of engagement, unless you’re going out and making the calls and connections, nothing will come of it. Following up is essential! Scott then mentions that there isn’t a formula to all of this. People in different positions and stages of building will be focusing on different areas, they’ll be wearing different clothes, and they’ll be talking to different people. There is no right or wrong, but we need to be aware of the space we’re occupying, and adapt accordingly. Finally, Scott tells us the importance of being “famous with your spouse.” Tune in to find out how important it is to have a strong, core 50 connections you can always rely on. What you’ll learn in this episode In today’s episode, Scott breaks down lead generation and how we can maximize our time to bring the most value to our clients and to ourselves. He explains how to make the switch from “motivated” to “committed” and what it means to your business when you take small steps every day to create productive habits. Ep 1919 - Living Life by Design w/ Darrah Brustein
Thanks for tuning in and welcome back to Instant Impact with Elyse Archer. Today, Elyse is talking with Darrah Brustein, a writer and entrepreneur with articles on lifestyle design that have been read by over 1 million people across Forbes, Entrepreneur, and Thrive Global. Her motto "build a life of your own design, a career to fund it, and a network to support it" has inspired thousands to reach higher and dream bigger. Recently, Darrah launched the video series “Diving Deep With Deepak & Darrah” to make deep topics relatable and translatable into your life. Darrah and Elyse chat about challenging ourselves to be the writer of our own story—the artist of our own masterpiece. Ask the question “Why am I doing what I’m doing?” This is at the foundation of the idea of intentional networking. Darrah explains that it’s about surrounding yourself and connecting with people who elevate who you are and what you do. She shares some tips on how to do this, like building your network from where you are and starting with those who already know and trust you. That way, you can cut down time in this new arena. Elyse asks for some of Darrah’s Do’s and Don'ts for icebreakers. The wrong way, she says, is leading with “what do you do?” People want to be seen and want to know you can who they are first. Remember to add value first. A better thing to ask would be “what’s on your mind?” or “what brought you here?” Let them share what’s important to them so you can develop a more meaningful relationship. Darrah offers some insight into how she lives the life she does—meeting high profile people and connecting with an expansive network while maintaining happiness and freedom. A massive part of it, she says, is intention. It’s essential to reflect and make sure what you’re doing is working for you, specifically. Ask yourself if you’re on the right path. Are the dominos falling naturally or are you swimming upstream? Next, it’s realizing that it’s the people you know who will open the doors. By having that trust, you’re able to build long-lasting relationships with more people. Finally, having financial freedom can be attributed to side hustles. Do what you can to create flexibility for your pursuits. You don’t have to grind. Focus on effortless living. Darrah explains that this means to follow what is working and steer clear of what isn’t. What you’ll learn in this episode In today’s episode, Darrah shares her insight on what it takes to design a lifestyle that works for you through intentional relationship building. She lets us in on some tips on how to build meaningful, long-lasting relationships with people who may seem out of reach. She explains what we can do to cultivate a network in a new arena and how we can up-level by surrounding ourselves with people who elevate us. Ep 1818 - Building a Huge Social Following in a Heart-Led Way w/ MJ Gordon
Welcome to Instant Impact with your host, Elyse Archer. Today’s conversation centers around building an audience, cultivating meaningful relationships, and connecting with individuals through authenticity and heart. This episode’s guest has done just that. MJ Gordon is one of the most versatile health and meditation coaches on the planet. She has a proven track record of creating balance and results in a wide variety of different industries and endeavors. She is the creator of multiple online training programs and the host of a YouTube channel with over 100,000 subscribers with content related to living a healthier and more centered lifestyle. MJ specializes in helping high achieving individuals who are struggling with imbalance and helps them to find more peace, fulfillment, and centeredness in their lives. MJ starts us off by sharing how she’s managed to build such a massive community on Youtube and Instagram. She says one of the keys to her success in such a short amount of time was using the platform as not only a way to share information but to be authentic, and focus on building relationships instead of a business. She stayed true to who she was and connected with people she felt comfortable with. It wasn’t an easy journey to where she is now, though. An immigrant child, she dealt with abuse at home and was left feeling disempowered. It was with the motivation of the coaches she had growing up that opened her eyes to the value in creating value for yourself. Through genuine soul, MJ was able to find balance within her personal life and that which she shared with her audience. It’s a fine line between authenticity and oversharing. It’s an even finer line between connecting with the audience and looking like you’re seeking attention. Her primary mantra she always remembers is energy over strategy. As Elyse says, it boils down to your instincts. It’s about a feeling of peace and centeredness. We’re meant to connect as people and to grow, MJ says. MJ and Elyse chat about Quality v.s. Quantity of the content put out, and if MJ schedules her posts. For her, as long as the content is consistent, that’s fine. But more importantly, the quality of the content must be top-notch. By reserving her perspective to that of her audience, MJ is able to craft content that brings them value. MJ’s final advice is to slow down and ground yourself. Start to focus on the impact itself and not just the numbers. It’s so important to feel fulfilled in what you do, and the place to start is internal. What you’ll learn in this episode In today’s episode, MJ Gordon shares with us her authentic, heart-driven approach to building an audience, cultivating relationships, and making meaningful connects with her community. She keys us in on important things to focus on when generating content—and it’s not always in the numbers. Links Connect with MJ at her website, mj-gordon.com or Google MJ Gordon! Ep 1717 - How to Confidently Master Video w/ Jonathan Mahan
Thanks for tuning into this episode of Instant Impact with Elyse Archer! Today, Elyse talks with Jon Mahan, a video success coach with BombBomb, a program that allows you to communicate with videos through direct emails quickly and with ease. Videos can be a massive form of leverage for your brand, and Elyse can attest to the massive impact videos have had on her success. Jon and Elyse chat about some tips for those who are just getting started with creating video content. He suggests starting out slow—record yourself 10-20 times and send them out into low-risk situations. This could be a friend, coworker, or even a client that you know already loves you. Someone who won’t mind that you may feel a little awkward—that’s normal! As you progress in your comfort, then you can send them to high-risk situations. Next, Elyse asks Jon his opinion on the production of these videos. Jon says there is a time and place for both raw, authentic videos and flashy, shiny videos. Generally, he mentions, videos that lean towards the more authentic side of the spectrum tend to do well. The market is flooded with advertisements and people don’t have time for more of those, he says. If you’re editing just to look more professional, chances are you’re over-producing the video. In fact, Elyse even admits she doesn’t watch the videos she posts for fear of not wanting to post them! Jon shares with us his process for creating content. For him, batching his content and setting aside one hour a week to generate it works best for him. He writes down ideas as they pop into his head, and when the time comes, he chooses 3-6 topics and makes videos on them. With all this being said, Elyse and Jon discuss when you should hold off making video content. The key is, Jon says, that videos act as an amplifier for your message. If your message isn’t up to stuff, reconsider what it is you’re trying to say. A weak message is still a weak message if it is amplified. Jon also lets us in on some key knowledge: throughout your communication, you need to be sending a message that you’re here to help. Videos can help clients pick up on non-verbal cues that can help prove, in real-time, that you’re the real deal. Finally, Jon breaks down why people watch his videos, and why they may watch yours too: They care about who you are. This can take time and requires that you build relationships, but it’s a good reason for people to watch your content. They care what you’re talking about. People care more about your message than anything else. Offer a solution to a problem they may be facing. Curiosity. Put a brief blurb in your post that leaves enough room for curiosity to cause a click. What you’ll learn in this episode In this episode, Jon lets us in on some key factors that can level-up our video content. He offers up suggestions on how we can use videos to build our brand, and what it takes for a video to be successful. He breaks down aspects of video content that can improve your growth, and shares insight into how he does it himself. Ep 1616 - From High School Teacher to $16 Million in Online Sales w/ Mike Auton
Welcome back to the Instant Impact podcast with your host, Elyse Archer. Today’s guest is Mike Auton. Mike left his teaching job 11 years ago and now runs an online marketing business—he’s made over $16 million dollars doing so. He uses a seemingly counterintuitive strategy to gain strategic partnerships and to build his brand by adding value for those around him. Like a flip of a switch, Mike decided it was time for him to get rich. His first thought, the internet and social media, despite knowing next to nothing about it. His first Google search was ‘how to make money online.’ This lead him to direct linking from Google to Amazon for every product under the sun. But before he could get rich, he needed to build a brand that would help him get there. He shares with Elyse his mindset—do what feels right. Often times, we are told to always put in a call to action in our content—Mike isn’t so sure about that. Mike explains that he knows his audience—high value partners that don’t need that call to action or a button to link them to get in touch. He shares that his philosophy is to attract these partners to him instead of seeking them out. He mentions that while a call to action in the copy of the content you’re putting out is totally fine, but his aim is to help people first. So, what about his content? Elyse and Mike talk about his unorthodox technique when it comes to content creation. Mike sells without selling. He says that if you want to build a long-term, healthy business, you need to be the content creator, not the advertiser. He says he focuses on putting out genuine, authentic content that’s primary goal is to help those around him. He tells Elyse that the production quality of the content comes secondary to the message. No one opens their social media feeds to see a Vogue advertisement. Instead of being interesting, he says, be helpful. There is a lot of pressure we put on ourselves when we try to be interesting. However, if we’re being helpful, if one person gets something valuable out of the content, you’ve achieved that goal. Finally, he adds to add value without expectation. It’s important to remember that this is a slow process, and take patience once the practicality is sorted. With practicality in mind, Mike chats with Elyse about ways to keep your head above water while being patient. He suggests the 80/20 concept, where 20% of your content includes a call to action. He also mentions that it’s okay to have an outside job to pay the bills while you build your brand. His strategy was to regulate money. If he had $2,000, half goes to his life and the other to his advertisements. Ep 1515 - From Chaos to Calm w/ Annelies Gentile
Thanks for tuning into another episode of Instant Impact with your host, Elyse Archer. Today, Elyse is talking with her longtime personal coach, Annelies Gentile. Annelies is a pioneer thought-leader with a presence-based approach to coaching, helping professionals navigate change, mindfully, creatively and successfully. Having traveled to 22 countries and 47 US states for business and pleasure, Annelies discovered that most people want the same three things: to be heard, to feel safe, and to hold a sense of belonging. She is the author of the book From Chaos to Calm: Leading Change from the Inside Out, a personal story, philosophy, and guide for resiliency in times of change. In today’s episode, she outlines how to be solid in all aspects of mindfulness. Elyse and Annelies start their conversation discussing chaos in the many relationships we have in our lives—be it personal, business, or professional. The first step, Annelies says, is to identify what chaos looks like. The catch is, if you realize you’re in chaos, it’s too late, so it’s essential that we can notice any possible warning signs. Elyse gives her own example of feeling a tightness in her chest or a pit in her stomach when there is the potential for conflict in a relationship. It’s important, Annelies points out, to address the problem as it is. She talks about ‘hidden grief’ that can collect like dust and influence how we perceive interactions throughout our day. A lot of chaos can be tied to electronic communication, Annelies mentions. A good way to notice when chaos is on the horizon and it’s time to make a different form of connection is when you’re firing off emails left and right or the opposite: ruminating too long on how we’re communicating. Her tip is to pause if you’re sending off emails too fast to ensure you’re effectively communicating your ideas, and if you’re a ruminator to back up and assess the situation and look for a different channel of communication. Annelies brings up an excellent point: people are mirrors of ourselves. Communicating through chaos is a good chance to self-reflect. Through direct, human connections, we can engage in a dialogue to better understand how we’re being perceived and how accurately we perceive others. She goes on to talk with Elyse about taking things personally. Her advice is this: if you find yourself blaming, judging, or over-assessing the situation, there’s a good chance you’re taking something personally. She says this is a waste of time, energy, and creativity. There are so many other things you could be spending those on! Noticing you’re tethered is the first step to moving past this. Lifting the anchor and processing is the way to go. Something that comes up in the chaos is the eternal struggle of control v.s. going with the flow. Overall, Annelies says, we don’t have much control to begin with. If we’re constantly focused on the next thing, we lose sight of our human-ness. The goal is to gain perspective. Finally, Annelies explains why she left Facebook, and how it opened her eyes to how vital it is to connect with people on a human level. What you’ll learn in this podcast How to notice and identify chaos in all its forms, and how to pause without judgment. The importance of taking three deep breaths before assessing a situation and acting on it. How to calculate how stressed you feel and what steps to take from there. Ep 1414 - How to Create an Amazing Client Experience through Chat Bots w/ Andrew Bilak
Thanks for tuning into Instant Impact with Elyse Archer. Today, Elyse is talking with Andrew Bilak. He helps businesses and brands connect with their customers through interactive and engaging Chatbots. Playing on his passion for marketing and strategy, Andrew Founded RoyalWood Media and created a Chatbot Agency nearly two years ago. In that short time, the market has seen rapid growth in the adoption of Chatbots across various industries. In this episode, Elyse and Andrew discuss how utilizing conversational commerce to create a frictionless process for potential clients and how it can deepen that relationship. Andrew wants to shed some light on what Chatbots are exactly and clear up some misconceptions about them. A chatbot is a computer program that simulates a conversational experience. Andrew explains how these programs can help businesses and brands create and establish more meaningful conversations with clients. Through voice interaction like Alexa or Google or though text-based programs, a conversation can be sparked. Andrew goes on delve deeper into the practical uses of conversational commerce and the powerful information it can provide. He points out how conversational experiences bridge the gap to a client. Chatbots can also be used internally to shift the business into a direction that is more efficient and effective. Elyse and Andrew chat about creating an initial touch point. This is key, Andrew says, in landing customers. There is a split second where contact is made, and if it’s perceived negatively, you could lose a lifetime client. These Chatbots can be catered to the needs of the business or coach. It can provide vital information instantaneously, and that’s something clients value. Conversational commerce provides the ability to follow up the moment the potential client interacts with your widget. It could be in your social media bio, your website, or in an email. Any time they click on it, a conversation will be started. What you’ll learn in this episode In this episode, Andrew Bilak will clear up some misconceptions about Chatbots. He sheds light on what conversational commerce is and how it can help establish, retain, and satisfy clients. You’ll learn the potential power of conversational commerce through the information it provides, how it can deepen your relationships with clients, and how to create a frictionless process overall. Ep 1313 - Building a Personal Brand in a Corporate Environment w/ Glenn Pasch
Welcome back to another episode of Instant Impact with your host, Elyse Archer. Elyse chats with Glenn Pasch, CEO of PCG Digital, an Inc 5000 agency that specializes in helping dealerships generate qualified leads. His firm has worked with everything from single-point dealerships up to companies like GM, Lithia, Berkshire Hathaway, Asbury Automotive, and Subaru. Glenn is an expert at all things digital marketing and shares steps he takes to build a personal brand in conjunction with his company’s brand. He brings experience that can help anyone running some sort of brand online cut through the noise. Glenn and Elyse talk about the history of Glenn’s personal brand and how it grew alongside his company’s brand. In early 2010, Glenn was building a business of his own, realizing they were the size of a small shop—about 10 or so people were on this team. Eventually, Glenn says, they stumbled into some verticals in the form of the automotive industry. This lead to Glenn going to expert panels and realizing he needed to find a way to be the one at the front of the room. Through digital marketing, Glenn has now built up a substantial brand both personally and professionally. To explain how he got there, Glenn shares that he had to come to a conclusion: people like to have a face for a company. He turns towards some of the biggest companies in the world. Microsoft, for example, had Bill Gates, Apple had Steve Jobs, etc.. Once you realize that you are the company, things change. This can feel selfish at first, but once it clicks, Glenn mentions, you’re able to build a team that can provide the same quality of work you do. Elyse brings up a key to building a personal brand beside your company’s is having a separate, personal website that bridges into your business’s website. This way, your personal brand can be used as a lead generator for your company’s revenue stream. Eventually, other people will go along the journey with you. What people think of you becomes what they think of the company. When that evolves, Glenn adds, people will start paying more attention, and you can introduce them to your team. Elyse inquires into Glenn’s impressive presence on social media. He says it was easy to forget about promoting himself when you’ve got your head down running a company. He found building a team that can help with his posting is smarter than forgetting constantly. He hired someone to build a calendar for him—one that would show what to post on which platform and when. Glenn offers some insight into how he built up his brand: Figure out where your audience is, what platform they use, and learn from it. It’s better to do one platform well than to be overwhelmed by trying to manage multiple. Make individual content for the platforms you post on. Make sure that specific audience knows this post is for them. Find a way to make your posts consistent. Have a standard bit of content that you produce every week, have your team write a blog, and pull from there. It helps to schedule what you’ll post, when, and why. Over time, people will come and connect with you. Once you’ve established a long-term outlook, Glenn brings up, you can start looking at analytics. Report your results, but don’t get discouraged. Look, listen to your audience, and learn from the posts you’re putting out there. Get into the mentality of helping people, not just providing a service. Elyse notes that it’s a slippery slope when it comes to promoting on social media. A brand can quickly become a “me monster.” The real magic, Elyse says, happens when posts are focused on the audience instead. She shares that she tries to connect emotionally to her audience in order to better communicate with them. Then the conversation turns to the type of content that we put out for a personal brand. Videos, Glenn says, can be an effective way to reach your audience. However, a lot of people are insecure about their voice, their appearance, or their public speaking skills. He reminds us that people will meet us eventually, anyways. Something he has found that helps is having a conversation with a friend and recording it with a camera behind them. A lot of people will be surprised at how naturally they speak when they aren’t focused on the camera. Finally, Glenn offers some tips on how to cut through the noise of today’s market. Google UTM, he says, can offer some great insight into where your ad clicks are coming from, allows you to label your ads individually, and generally is a useful tool when it comes to publishing ads. In addition to that, having proper SEO writing on your website is essential to coming up as a search result when people are looking for a service you provide. What you’ll learn in this podcast After listening to this episode, you’ll walk away with some actionable steps you can take to cut through the noise on social media. You’ll get some tips on how to build a personal brand alongside a professional one, and you’ll have insight into what it takes to p

Ep 1212 - Dancing on the Glass Ceiling w/ Cynthia Barnes
Welcome back to Instant Impact with Elyse Archer! Today, Elyse has a conversation with Cynthia Barnes, founder of the National Association of Women Sale Professionals (NAWSP). Cynthia has built an enormous community in an incredibly short amount of time. She grew her brand from a single meetup chapter in Detroit to over 13,000 members in just two years. She cut her daily sales calls from 125 a day to only 12 a day and quadrupled her revenue. She shares how she did this and gives us insight into the mentality it takes to foster a brand. Cynthia first shares her story—she’s been in sales since Girl Scout cookies were only $1.50 a box. She remembers her father giving her some valuable advice: she already has two strikes against her—she’s black and she’s a woman. That meant she would have to work twice as hard to get half as recognized. Her father told her there are three types of people in this world: those who make things happen, those who wait for things to happen, and those who wonder what happened. When Cynthia was given two sheets to fill selling cookies, she decided she then she would be someone who made things happen. In 2016, Cynthia left her job to follow her passion for helping women reach the top. She explains that traditional sales training was made by men, for men. She wanted to change that. Cynthia talks to Elyse about some primary differences between men and women in sales. Women, she says, are inherently great at relationship building. Where they could use help, she continues, is building strength in their presence and confidence. Elyse mentions that there seemed to be an internalization of this negative language at a recent meet up she attended. At some point, these women were knocked down. Cynthia adds that part of what she does is helping women overcome imposter syndrome—they are there for a reason. Cynthia wanted to build a community that lifts women in a way that works for women. This meant following intuition and using the plethora of strengths women have to reach the top 1%. Elyse and Cynthia discuss what it took to establish such a thriving community. Cynthia says sales training and coaching is secondary, what we need is someone who gets us—someone who understands. Many of NAWSP meetups are fireside chats where women can plug-in. She developed the NAWSP App so women can get the support they desire anytime, anywhere, and join a sisterhood of like-minded individuals. This happened, though, almost entirely through LinkedIn. Cynthia is LinkedIn for Sales Blackbelt certified. This means she successfully completed a program on how to leverage LinkedIn for sales. This is when she was really able to boost her revenue and decrease the number of cold calls she was making. The first step, Cynthia shares, is having a business development profile. Most profiles on LinkedIn are job-seeking and occasionally a branding profile, but a business development profile allows you to attract a targeted market and close sales. It’s important, Cynthia says, to include SEO keywords in your profile so you pop up on Google’s first page when the service you provide is searched for. After that, it's up to you to use the tools LinkedIn provides to target a market with granularity and specificity to connect with. Once a relationship is established, you can move the conversation off LinkedIn and move through the sales process. Elyse mentions the different approaches to making relationships. There is a grinding mentality, where you play the number’s game, making hundreds of calls a day, and there is a relationship-driven mentality, which can sometimes be too passive. Cynthia mentions that time is precious—the goal is to be as effective and as efficient as possible. She suggests LinkedIn’s Sale Navigator, where you can search for specific roles, titles, etc. within companies. The program also sends you an email of targeted clients and tells you how many prospects you have. Cynthia says this is a massive help when it comes to narrowing down your focus. Speaking of focus, Cynthia talks about how she brands herself. She wants to find what she can do that no one else in her field can. Finding a niche is essential, but more importantly, staying true and focused on that niche is vital. She explains that finding where your passion lies is key in keeping to your brand, you don’t want the water to get muddy. What you’ll learn in this podcast In today’s podcast, you’ll learn what it takes to build a brand effectively and efficiently. Cynthia offers key tips on how to stay true to your brand and stay the course. She tells us how to make LinkedIn work for you, and how she used it to fuel her passion for lifting women up to the highest possible degree. Ep 1111 - Building a High End Brand w/ Keir Weimer
Today’s Episode of Instant Impact with Elyse Archer features Keir Weimer. Keir’s story is one of redemption, hope, and perseverance. He had no job, no opportunities, he was broke and living at home. Through hard work and genuine introspection, Keir was able to elevate himself out of the hole he found himself in. Keir is now the Founder and President of multiple 7-Figure businesses and an expert at breaking through extreme adversity to achieve greatness. In just five short years, he went from the bottom to consistently being named the #1 sales broker and team at Select Sotheby’s International Realty. Elyse and Keir discuss how this all started, and Keir mentions that he comes from a place of gratitude. At 24, he was sent away for his involvement in a terrible boating accident. When he returned, he was met with rejection after rejection, every door he worked so hard to open was being shut in his face. For Keir, these denials acted as a major pivot point in his life. As he says, there was a shift in accountability—he took full responsibility for everything that has happened up to this point, and will take the same responsibility for everything to come. Keir attributes his success to a few different factors—an unrelenting focus on his vision, an unparalleled work ethic, and refusing to allow failure to slow him down. Elyse delves into some of the biggest factors that people like Keir have to overcome. Keir mentions overcoming fears, setbacks, self-denial, and external obstacles. He talks about being flexible—the ‘how’, as he calls it, will come eventually. Patience is key. He also suggests writing down your core values and your vision. He asks listeners to meditate on what they want to be remembered for. What is it that will drive you without end? Keir suggests aiming high. He targeted the top of the market and rode out the storm when things weren’t growing quickly, if at all. That perspective, Keir says, is essential. Things could always be worse. We need to divorce ourselves from a negative mentality. Elyse brings up the point that not running from failure demands a certain amount of respect. Keir agrees, adding that actions speak louder than words. He focused on putting in the work and showing up for the best customer service he could provide. People can turn things around, and Keir is a perfect example of that. Finally, Elyse asks Keir to name some things that can help listeners build relationships with current or potential clients. There are simple things, like holiday gifts and events that one can offer to help establish a long-lasting relationship with the client, but more importantly, Keir mentions, it is about valuing the relationships we do make. Something that’s often overlooked is the frequency, quality, and form of communication we have with clients. It’s essential to ask questions. How do they prefer to communicate? When? Then listen. Meet people as they want to be met, not how you’d like to meet them. Finally, come from a place of authenticity. What you’ll learn in this podcast Today’s episode is all about overcoming failure. Keir offers insight into what it takes to power forward in the face of adversity, how to establish and foster high-end relationships, and how to build a personal brand in a short amount of time. Listener’s get a window into the world of redemption, and how personal branding, whatever form that may come in, is essential to staying true to yourself and cultivating a successful business.

Ep 1010 - Defining Your Innate Value w/ Traci Phillips
On today’s episode of Instant Impact with Elyse Archer, Elyse talks introspection with Traci Philips, a Leadership & Performance Strategist. Traci helps her clients locate and utilize the ‘genius’ in each of them. Through analyzing both verbal and non-verbal language, Traci assists individuals and teams in applying effective tools and approaches to identify core issues and challenges that are blocking desired objectives and outcomes. As they’re talking, Elyse and Traci discuss how important it is to define what we have to offer, or as Traci calls it, our “unique brilliance.” She mentions how difficult it is to unearth these innate skill-sets from under years upon years of conditioning from the outside world; those thoughts that keep telling us what we should look like professionally. Traci talks about merging this innate skill-set with learned skill-sets in order to reach our fullest potential. She points out that people are well-versed in what they can do, but only based on what they’ve learned. She then pushes us to look for something that a close friend, family member, or co-worker has pointed out about us that may have come as a surprise. Sometimes, she says, we’re so good at a particular innate skill, we don’t notice it. Once we’ve gotten a hold of our unique way of doing things we can better utilize and apply it practically. But first, Traci brings up, we need to identify the patterns that can pin us in a negative mindset. These can take the form of belief systems like religion or cultural practices, and can subconsciously limit our successes. That’s where Traci comes in. These limiting beliefs often show up in the language we use. Traci taps into this. It’s called ‘language profiling,’ and some of us do it every day. As Elyse puts it, a spotlight is great, but it can expose those bad habits. For example, think about how many times a day you say “I have to.” Traci suggests changing that to “I get to.” This can help shift our mindset from negative to positive, and in turn, can bring to light a plethora of opportunities we may have missed because we weren’t looking for them—we were stuck in looking for the negative. Once we’re focused on what we want, it shows up everywhere. People often lose trust in themselves in no small part due to the layers of conditioning we’re exposed to every day. We often promise ourselves things that we haven’t, or couldn’t, follow up on. So, when we try to make that change, there’s that voice in the back of our head reminding us we can’t, or won’t, do it. Traci reminds us that people don’t want bulletproof. Humans don’t connect with perfect. Imperfection makes us approachable. Finally, Traci shares with us three actionable steps we can take to rewire those negative thoughts and rescript our brain: Pay attention to your language patterns. Avoid words like “just,” as they diminish the importance of what you’re talking about. Try to step away from telling yourself what you haven’t done already. Honor yourself! Take the time to put ‘you’ first. Monitor how you prioritize things. Remember, you can’t help others if you aren’t helping yourself. Get used to asking for support. We’re often keen on offering support endlessly but can limit ourselves from getting the same help. Communicate with yourself and communicate with those around you. What you’ll learn in this podcast Traci helps elucidate the limiting beliefs we may run into in our day-to-day lives. She points out how our language can be a window into the script that is constantly running through our brains. More importantly, Traci offers solutions that we can apply practically to help rewire and improve the way we think about ourselves. He’s the President of The Cauble Group and Parasol Property Management and author of the best-selling book Open for Business: The Insider's Guide to Leasing Commercial Real Estate. Tyler went against the grain and networked in a way that was previously ignored by his peers in the industry—and it paid off in a big way. In this episode, Tyler emphasizes the importance of networking in whatever form that may be. He explains how building “true” relationships with community members can foster success. As he put it, these relationships are give and take—you get value if you give value. As crucial as meeting people is, following up with potential clients is equally as important. Tyler reminds us that it’s never too late to follow up. It could be 24 hours, 48 hours, or three weeks. The business is out there if you go and get it. Tyler offers some tips on effective ways to network. He suggests hosting local events or fireside chats. By doing this, he says, you are able to establish yourself as an authority in your field while building a platform, cultivating untapped relationships, and gaining information yourself, all at the same time! Obviously, public speaking isn’t easy for everyone. Tyler suggests preparing a visual aid or powerpoint with concise points that you expand upon during your presentations. Other helpful tools to keep you on track and people engaged could come in the form of prompt cards or anything that could help you, as a speaker, feel more relaxed. Tyler’s best-selling book had a massive impact on his business. It sets you up as an authority figure (or someone who knows what they’re talking about) and can be used as a networking tool if sent to influential people or as thank-you gifts. Tyler is an expert at building a personal brand in unconventional ways. He utilizes Instagram to connect with people directly. Tyler’s Instagram isn’t just any profile, though. He puts a lot of focus on quality for his pictures and captions. Tyler explains how this can both modernize your brand help you build a niche for yourself. For him, it was focusing on small businesses and ensuring they get the quality of care that they deserve. Beyond that, Tyler recommends differentiating yourself in your field. Tyler decided to keep his (admittedly impressive) beard to allow him to stand out amongst his otherwise clean-cut peers.
