FF 009 - Kristy and the Kidnapper
EA pulse-pounding adventure full of elite haxors, Knights Templar, and secret service shootouts, Kristy and the Kidnapper is Ellen Miles’ most ambitious and exciting work yet, and the boys couldn’t be more eager to explore its hidden depths. Except that Jack’s in a bad mood, and Tanner’s not helping. Also, a plea to listeners: Get a cat. Just get a cat! Music credits: “Suspenseful Dark Cinematic Mystery,” by Sun Channel Music “Parting Ways,” by Allen Grey “The Prophecy,” by Fox Beat Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. FF 008 - Mary Anne's Revenge
EAfter heroically grappling with the inscrutable temporal paradox created by having to go and watch the Netflix show in between Friends Forever discussions, our geniuses turn their great brains to the question of whether Cary Retlin is the coolest guy in Stoneybrook, why Cokie Mason has such a big house, and what, precisely, Mary Anne is evolving into. Then Tanner brings on a very special guest to attest to the fact that he is, and always has been, a nice boy. Music credits: “Revenge Dramatic Emotional Apocalypse,” by Luke PN “Love Potion,” by Fasol Prod “Stardust,” by Fox Beat Stock Music Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Cyril for the outro music. FF 007 - Claudia Gets Her Guy
E🚨 CLAUDIA DATES ALAN GRAY CLAUDIA DATES ALAN GRAY CLAUDIA DATES ALAN GRAY CLAUDIA DATES ALAN GRAY 🚨 That's right. The guy is Alan Gray. The guy that Claudia "gets" IS ALAN GRAY. Uh, this one is ... a lot. Music credits: “Beyond the Veil,” by Dreamstate Logic “Rising,” by Music Dog “The Prophecy,” by Fox Beat “Romance Piano,” by Twisterium “Empty Promise,” by UEMonthly “You Gotta Have Theremin and Ukulele,” by Squidlord “Sad Ending,” by Tunes to Go “Dark Magic,” by Allen Grey Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Bye Bye Empire for the outro music. FF 006 - Stacey and the Boyfriend Trap
EAfter the fever dream that was the Netflix video novels, the boys are thrown headfirst back into the twilight world of "Friends Forever," where the Fame Wolf still prowls, danger lurks around every corner, and any moment could be the one where the Boyfriend Trap is sprung. This week, Stacey McGill stands trial for her crimes against humanity and Claudia specifically, and Ann M. Martin lays down a few more clues about how to sweep your crush right off their feet. Music credits: “Western Hero,” by Andy Slatter “Bad Clown,” by Soundroll “Surfing Bird,” by Cinematic Alex “Gothic Rock Opera,” by Allen Grey “Stardust,” by Fox Beat Stock Music Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. BSCTV 010 - Hello, Camp Moosehead! Part 2 (feat. Jaime Greenring)
EThe baby-sitters face their hardest test yet, as they stand on the edge of a dark and forbidding forest; a wilderness wherein they must wander until they learn the the truth about themselves, find meaning in the vastness of experience that stretches out before them, or do a great big smooch with Logan, depending on which baby-sitter they are. No guest from the show this week, but Jack auditions a new co-host and it goes really well. Music credits: “Theatre Music,” by Lucky Black Cat “The Prophecy,” by Fox Beat “Sad to Happy,” by Silverhoof “Sad to Hopeful,” by The Story Shop Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Bye Bye Empire for the outro music. BSCTV 009 - Hello, Camp Moosehead! Part 1 (feat. Sophie Grace and Sophia Reid-Gantzert)
EThe boys send their best and bravest into the heart of suburban Connecticut in search of the secret portal to Stoneybrook, but all they end up with is a nasty case of browntail moths. Coincidentally, that’s what the baby-sitters are getting into this week as well, over at Camp Moosehead, where the moths are poisonous, injustice reigns, and if you’re not careful, you might just lose your face. Kristy (Sophie Grace) and Karen (Sophia Reid-Gantzert) join for a diabolical game! Music credits: “Stardust,” by Fox Beat Stock Music Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. BSCTV 008 - Kristy's Big Day (feat. Mark Feuerstein)
EThings aren’t looking so hot for Batgirl’s big day! Kristy looks like a banana, the officiant is a witch, and Mr. Spier’s shirt smells like meat. After a robust discussion of these important topics, the boys are joined by Watson himself (Mark Feuerstein) for a bracing round of Dad Talk. Music credits: “Chains,” by 3 (Emerson, Berry & Palmer) “Stardust,” by Fox Beat Stock Music “Don’t Leave Me,” by Lionel Schmitt “Sadness,” by Allen Grey Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. BSCTV 007 - Boy-Crazy Stacey (feat. Shay Rudolph and Momona Tamada)
ESomething’s going on with the dads of Stoneybrook this week. Watson’s hiding something behind a mysterious blue door, Mr. Spier is undergoing some kind of unnatural evolution, and John Pike is sending us cryptic messages through his license plate. Then, the boys are joined by Shay Rudolph (Stacey) and Momona Tamada (Claudia), who agree to take an extremely tricky and diabolical quiz about their BSC knowledge. Music credits: “Slash,” by Arc North Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. BSCTV 006 - Claudia and Mean Janine (feat. Naia Cucukov and Lucy Kitada)
EThe boys bring their sharp critical lens to another fascinating video-novel this week as they grapple with a number of complex choices its creators have made around Stacey’s dating life, Mary Anne’s room renovation, and Humpty Dumpty, the shattered eggman. Then the show's Executive Producers, Naia Cucukov and Lucy Kitada, join to hear some provocative and disruptive pitches for BSC-adjacent properties that they need to greenlight ASAP. Music credits: “The Prophecy,” by Fox Beat “Sadness,” by AudioRose “Sadness,” by Allen Grey Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Bye Bye Empire for the outro music. BSCTV 005 - Dawn and the Impossible Three (feat. Xochitl Gomez and Malia Baker)
EThis fascinating video-novel poses three impossible problems: Kristy’s baffling reluctance to accept Dawn into the club; the paradoxical influence of Milton’s Paradise Lost on these texts; and Mrs. Barrett’s impossible legs. Then, the boys bring in Dawn and Mary Anne themselves (Xochitl Gomez and Malia Baker) to subject them to an impossible trial of their own. Music credits: “Sadness,” by Allen Grey “Sadness,” by AudioRose “Chopstick Slapstick,” by OurMusicBox “Stardust,” by Fox Beat Stock Music Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. BSCTV 004 - Mary Anne Saves the Day (feat. Lucia Aniello)
EThis one has nowhere near enough boys’ basketball in it, but that kind of sums up Mr. Prezzioso’s life anyway, so it all checks out. Plenty to discuss this week anyway as the boys encounter a new and improved Dawn, speculate about what’s in Mimi’s special tea, and perform in the auditions of their lifetime with their special guest: “Baby-Sitters Club” Director and Executive Producer, Lucia Aniello. Music credits: “Overture,” by Lionheart “Laisse pas Traîner Ton Fils,” by Suprême NTM “Don’t Leave Me,” by Lionel Schmitt “Stardust,” by Fox Beat Stock Music Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. BSCTV 003 - The Truth About Stacey (feat. Rachel Shukert)
EThere’s a new baby-sitting conglomerate in town and their unique brand of baby-sitting, including sizzle reels, peer-to-peer influencer marketing, and encouraging self-sufficiency by allowing kids to play in traffic threatens to put our precious Baby-Sitters Club out of business. The boys outsource that conversation to trusted Business Scions Goliath Hardbody and Mark Markson, and then speak with Baby-Sitters Club showrunner Rachel “The Hand of God” Shukert about what parts they should play on the show next season. Really a lot of hard-hitting experts on the podcast this week. Music credits: “Stardust,” by Fox Beat Stock Music Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, to Baby Bee Liz for the Guessing the Mystery theme, and to Big Boy Cyril for the outro music. BSCTV 002 - Claudia and the Phantom Phone Calls
This week we find out that the Phantom Phone Caller was inside us all along, which certainly explains why he’s still at large, but somehow isn’t any less frightening. Trevor Sandbourne takes advantage of the (hopefully) temporary non-existence of Pete Black to be the coolest guy in Stoneybrook, and The Hand of God introduces the world to the very first of our Johns. Meanwhile ... dolls. Things are really heating up over here! Music credits: “Overture,” by Lionheart “Fanfare Symphony,” by Silverhoof “The Prophecy,” by Fox Beat Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Bye Bye Empire for the outro music. BSCTV 001 - Kristy's Great Idea
EThis week, the boys slam on the brakes of the Friends Forever series and smash through their windshields right into the first episode of the Baby-Sitters Club Netflix show, cleverly titled “The Baby-Sitters Club.” Prepare for a pulse-pounding, bomb-on-the-bus thrill ride as they explore the dangerous new world of Stoneybrook 2020. With edgy, in-your-face characters such as Beret Lady, the Hand of God, and Bat Girl, this provocative new take on the BSC is an instant classic, and these boys are going to be there every step of the way. Music credits: “Classic Arcade Video Game,” by Adigold “Detective,” by LoopsLab “Stardust,” by Fox Beat Stock Music Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. FF 005 - Kristy Power!
EUnchastened by their disastrous attempts to heckle 8-year-olds during “Claudia’s First Thanksgiving,” not to mention the censorship fiasco in “Mary Anne and the Library Mystery,” Stoneybrook’s surprisingly resilient community of book-burning fascists are back at it again this week trying to get a teacher fired for assigning “Catcher in the Rye.” Is there anyone out there who can stop them? Weirdly, no. The title of this novel doesn’t actually have any bearing on the events in it, but it’s a romp anyway. Music credits: “Spaghetti Western,” by Music Dog “Gothic Choir,” by Allen Grey “Detective,” by LoopsLab “Overture,” by Lionheart “Chopstick Slapstick,” by OurMusicBox “Stardust,” by Fox Beat Stock Music “Requiem Dark Choir,” by Allen Grey Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, to Baby Bee Liz for the Guessing the Mystery theme, and to Bye Bye Empire for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. FF 004 - Claudia and the Friendship Feud
EAccording to Merriam Webster, a “Friendship Feud” is when you have a big feud with your friend about whether it’s somehow a good thing that Stacey and Claudia are fighting and tearing apart the very fabric of the BSC, or whether it is, in fact, a bummer. This was not by any means a bummer of a book though, because it was elegantly and artfully written by the great Laura Dower, from the spectral realm where she lives. Anyway, the boys spend a lot of energy this week discussing Ann’s new ghostwriter, and they also find time for a nuanced and informative chat about the rules of rugby. It’s all very nice and fun, which is a lot more than we can say about the situation between Claud and Stace at the moment. Music credits: “Sci-Fi Trailer,” Ivan Luzan “Parting Ways,” by Allen Grey “Jazz Sad Hip Hop,” by Black Stone Sound “Battle Area,” by Fifty Vinc Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Baby Bee Wolfkiller for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. FF 003 - Mary Anne's Big Breakup
EAnn continues to take a wrecking ball to what remains of our beloved baby-sitting club, this time reducing the passionate and (literally) timeless love affair that began with BSC #10, “Logan Likes Mary Anne” to a pile of dust and rubble. But that’s only the half of it. What’s got these two Weyniacs really worried is an even darker force that Ann has unleashed on Stoneybrook: Something angry. Something fierce. Something … lupine. Music credits: “Dramatic End,” by Tim Cat “Classic Arcade Video Game,” by Adigold “Stardust,” by Fox Beat Stock Music Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. FF 002 - Stacey Vs. Claudia
EWith her Wine Crimes in the rearview mirror, Stacey McGill tries her hand at betrayal. Meanwhile, as Stoneybrook reels from what is presumably a five-alarm baby-sitting shortage, two strangers walk into town with their heads held high and their hearts set on chaos. Will Jeremy and Rachel be the lovable new characters we never knew we wanted, or are they just going to ruin everything? Jury’s still out on that, but the boys find a way to have fun anyway, doing a big “ship,” talking about fashion, and finally revealing the true way to read these novels. Music credits: “Happy,” by Silver Hoof “Typewriter Blues,” by Allen Grey “Bad Clown,” by Soundroll “Overture,” by Lionheart “Olympia, WA,” by Rancid “Spring Street,” by Dar Williams “Stardust,” by Fox Beat Stock Music Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. FF 001 - Kristy's Big News
ETotal mystery what Kristy’s Big News is this week, but Patrick Thomas is getting married and he can’t do that without every member of his estranged, alienated, angry, and abandoned family by his side! Except David Michael for some reason. Also this week: Shark People, Heraclitus, and a timely checkin with WebMD. Music credits: “Fun Quirky Retro,” by Pink Zebra “Dark Skies,” by Marco Belloni Music “Vibe,” by Marble Space “The Prophecy,” by Fox Beat “Sad to Hopeful,” by The Story Shop Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. Friends Forever Special: Everything Changes
EIt had long been foretold that Kristy would be betrayed nine times before the end. But even after Dawn and Mallory turned their backs on her, no one was prepared for the onslaught that followed. The boys return to Stoneybrook this week to sift through the smoldering ashes of what had once been a safe haven. There’s also kind of a surprising amount of discussion about the British mope-rock band, Keane. Everything changes! Music credits: “Nostalgia,” by Raspberry Music “Everybody Changes,” by Keane “Piano Sadness,” by Alex Bird “Inspirational Techno,” by Kornev Music Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. Two Men Play With Dolls
EFailing to heed their own best advice, the boys bring dolls into the sanctity of their homes and play with them. But these aren’t just any dolls: They’re the short-lived but presumably beloved 1991 line of Remco Baby-Sitters Club Dolls, complete with fun accessories like “a hot dog” and terrifying, mutated “halfling” versions of themselves. Music credits: “Virtual Insanity,” by Jamiroquai Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to actual baby, Cyril, for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. California Diaries: Ducky (Three)
EThe California Diaries are over. The time has come for us to roll up our JNCOs, gather up our empty bottles of MD 20/20, feed our Furbies one final time, and wave farewell to Ducky, Amalia, Maggie, Sunny, and Dawn, as they walk—arm in arm—into the warm, comforting glow of Pacific Sunwear. And what is that beautiful music we hear on the wind, like a whispered promise? Could it possibly be an angel, saying, just softly enough for us to hear … "THANK U." Music credits: “90s Alternative Rock,” by FUNTOMASS “Thank U,” by Alanis Morissette “Candle in the Wind,” by Elton John “Sad to Happy,” by Silverhoof “Rock,” by Studio Monkey “Surf Rock Chase Scene,” by Sun Channel Music Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. California Diaries: Amalia (Three)
EOK so Brendan’s acting super weird because he wasn’t there for Amalia when these girls harassed her outside the movie theater and Dawn doesn’t know it but Ducky and Sunny are planning this big surprise party for her? And Meat Pete wrote this one but he didn’t put any baby-sitting in it and ORIM erased something pretty important and the girls are turtles. Got that? Good. Music credits: “90s Alternative Rock,” by FUNTOMASS “It Takes a Village,” by Raffi “Jazz Sad Hip Hop,” by Black Stone Sound “Rock,” by Studio Monkey “Surf Rock Chase Scene,” by Sun Channel Music Thanks to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, to Baby Bee Deanna for the Lerangis Moment song, and to Superbrat for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. California Diaries: Maggie (Three)
EMaggie Blume is dating literally the hottest guy in the world! And if you think that’s Pacey from Dawson’s Creek, you’ve made the biggest mistake of your life, because now the irradiated ghosts that stalk your hallways while you sleep are going to stop your lying mouth with their spectral fingers and make you think again. That was quite a journey, wasn’t it? It was for us, too! Strap in for the episode so nice, we did it twice. Music credits: “90s Alternative Rock,” by FUNTOMASS “Jazz Sad Hip Hop,” by Black Stone Sound “Vibe,” by Marble Space “Rock,” by Studio Monkey “Surf Rock Chase Scene,” by Sun Channel Music “90s Grunge Rock Epic Song,” by Blue Sky Audio Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. California Diaries: Sunny (Three)
EUgh, this one was pretty brutal. Sunny’s mom dies, Sunny’s dad can’t make it through his eulogy at the funeral because he’s crying so hard, and Tanner spends entirely too long talking about which characters from Duck Tales he finds the most attractive. Truly a tough one to get through without crying. Music credits: “90s Alternative Rock,” by FUNTOMASS “Rock,” by Studio Monkey “Surf Rock Chase Scene,” by Sun Channel Music “Three Days,” by K.D. Lang “Constant Craving,” by K.D. California Diaries: Dawn (Three)
EWill Sunny and Dawn ever be friends again? Will there ever be a singer as handsome as Belgian heartthrob Pierre X from Jax? Will the mysterious publishing entity known only as ORIM ever get THEIR KNIVES OUT OF OUR BACKS? That’s right, this week Sunny and Dawn are at war with each other, Jax is at war with the notoriously finicky American music market, and we’re at war with ORIM. It’s not going to be pretty. Music credits: “90s Alternative Rock,” by FUNTOMASS “Rock,” by Studio Monkey “Surf Rock Chase Scene,” by Sun Channel Music “Vibe,” by Marble Space “Rhythm of Time,” by Front 242 “Indie Grunge Anthem,” by Phil Larson “2 Wicky,” by Hooverphonic “Somewhere Out There,” by Our Lady Peace Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. California Diaries: Ducky (Two)
EYNAW, Poundmasters! Ann gave us a sensitive and heavy topic to chew on this week, so we stepped up to the plate like we always do in these situations and did a really deep dive into some other stuff entirely! Look for an extremely detailed conspiracy theory involving Freddy Prinze Jr., some powerful new insights into what’s going on with Ducky, and a surprisingly lengthy discussion of the marginally successful 2001 film Thirteen Ghosts. Music credits: “90s Alternative Rock,” by FUNTOMASS “Rock,” by Studio Monkey “Surf Rock Chase Scene,” by Sun Channel Music “Oprah Loves Bread,” by Charlie Thunder Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. California Diaries: Amalia (Two)
EWhich of us would not sacrifice the very world for just one glimpse of his baggy jeans; his suave super-gelled Brian Austin Green hair; his shy, bluish-green eyes; his edgy but approachable Operation Ivy T-shirt? His name is Brendan Jones, formerly of Short Hills, New Jersey. And he gave Amalia a single rose at the Homecoming Bash during that one Vanish song. You know the one. “Bliss it was in [the late ‘90s] to be alive But to be [a broody teen] was very heaven.” ― William Wordsworth, The Prelude Music credits: “90s Alternative Rock,” by FUNTOMASS “Serious Drugs,” by BMX Bandits “Sad to Happy,” by Silverhoof “The Freshmen,” by The Verve Pipe “Sadness,” by Allen Grey “Rock,” by Studio Monkey “Surf Rock Chase Scene,” by Sun Channel Music “Vibe,” by Marble Space “Don’t Hate Me,” by Get Up Kids “Criminal,” by Fiona Apple Thanks to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, to Baby Bee Stephanie for the Lerangis moment song, and to Superbrat for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. California Diaries: Maggie (Two)
EThe boys settle in for a pleasant and relaxing evening babysitting a gaggle of grumpy teens. Truth Translation: We’re pretty out of our depth here! Things are totally going off the rails with Maggie, and Dawn’s not helping, and Sunny is MIA, and there’s no more box wine in the cabinet because we already drank it all to calm our nerves THIS MORNING!!! OK, deep breath. Everything’s fine. We’re fine. Nothing to worry about here. Truth Translation: *muffled screams.* Music credits: “90s Alternative Rock,” by FUNTOMASS “Contre le Sexisme,” by Sonic Youth “Vibe,” by Marble Space “Rock,” by Studio Monkey “Surf Rock Chase Scene,” by Sun Channel Music Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. California Diaries: Dawn (Two)
EDawn’s stepmother Carol is in the hospital getting ready to bring new life into the world. Sunny’s mother is in the very same hospital looking at the light at the end of the tunnel. Her intentions fall to the floor. It is at this point that the angel closes her eyes, and the confusion that was hers belongs now to the baby down the hall. I can feel it. Not to belabor the point, but in this one, lightning ... definitely ... crashes. Music credits: “90s Alternative Rock,” by FUNTOMASS “Walking in Memphis,” by Marc Cohn “Sad to Happy,” by Silverhoof “Lightning Crashes,” by Live “Rock,” by Studio Monkey “Surf Rock Chase Scene,” by Sun Channel Music Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. California Diaries: Sunny (Two)
ESunny is in a bad mood because of circumstances beyond her control and she’s being a glum plum and bringing everybody down, which is fine, it happens, but that doesn’t mean that it’s OK for her to lash out and take it out on her friends who are just trying to help her. But I don’t know what to do and like I said it’s not my fault and I’m sorry but I’m not really sorry I’m just feeling out of sorts and wait, who are we talking about again? Anyway, this one’s a good one. Pete wrote it I think. California Diaries: Ducky (One)
EThe Cro-Mags are whispering to each other and snickering, as if you’re too dumb or too INVISIBLE to figure out that they’re laughing at YOU. So you do the only thing you can do: You grab your Discman and put on your headphones and lose yourself in the latest episode of the California Diaries, where the boys are talking about The Purge and Resident Evil and a bunch of other stuff that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense but ANYTHING is better than Cro-Mags. Anything is better than trying to be something you’re not for people who barely even know who you are. Music credits: “90s Alternative Rock,” by FUNTOMASS “Vapour Trail,” by Ride “Shook Ones, Pt. II,” by Mobb Deep “Save Yourself,” by Stabbing Westward “Vibe,” by Marble Space “Rock,” by Studio Monkey “Surf Rock Chase Scene,” by Sun Channel Music Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. California Diaries: Amalia (One)
EIt took four books, but we finally get a taste of that Good Clean Baby-Sitting Fun we’ve been so desperately craving this week, from the unlikely direction of Amalia Vargas. She isn’t even in the We Heart Kids Club, but she took pity on us and stopped by a women’s shelter to look after some kids on the way to break up with her toxic boyfriend. A truly scintillating novel, made even more so by the thoughtful inclusion of baby-sitting. Was that so difficult? California Diaries: Maggie (One)
EWhen you have a choice between watching the star-studded world premiere of “Fatal Judgment” or being in the crowd at the Battle of the Bands for the first-ever performance by Vanish featuring Maggie Blume on keyboards and backup vocals, there’s only one choice you can make: Go to both of them. That’s right, the boys have front-row seats at both of the hottest tickets in Palo City this week, and you can be sure they’re gonna be wearing their extra-large Jncos. Music credits: “Vibe,” by Marble Space “Beautiful Love,” by Twisterium “90s Alternative Rock,” by FUNTOMASS “Rock,” by Studio Monkey “Surf Rock Chase Scene,” by Sun Channel Music Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. California Diaries: Sunny (One)
EEverything is still very, very late '90s out here in California and we're all pretty worked up about it. But we're grown adults, so we're going to do the only responsible thing we can in the situation: Throw a copy of "On the Road" into our Jansports, strap on our blades, and blow off class for a day at the beach with a handsome and slightly suspicious drifter named Carson. Hope is a disease. California Diaries: Dawn (One)
EEdgier, more grownup, full of alcohol and angst and bad decisions. Cool. Sullen. Sarcastic. Mad at the whole world and ready to explode. These are just a few words to describe podcast hosts Jack Shepherd and Tanner Greenring. And this week, they’re embarking on an exciting new journey as they follow the BSC’s Dawn Schafer across the country to sunny California for fun, frolicking, and friendship! I wonder what new babies she will sit and what kind of wholesome and agreeable things she will get up to! Music credits: “90s Alternative Rock,” by FUNTOMASS “90s Grunge Rock Epic Song,” by Blue Sky Audio “Rock,” by Studio Monkey “Surf Rock Chase Scene,” by Sun Channel Music “Indie Grunge Anthem,” by Phil Larson Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. BSCCD-ROM: The Baby-Sitters Club Friendship Kit
EA wonderfully surreal and slightly scary world awaits all those who are brave enough to crawl through the looking glass, speak their own secret names aloud, and become new initiates of the legendary Baby-Sitters Club. But this is just the beginning of the quest, and danger awaits: Will the boys be confounded by the deadly Puzzle Box, disoriented by the mysterious Map Game, or debilitated by the incessant ringing of Claudia’s terrible telephone? Answers: Yes, yes, and yes. Fortunately, these guys are professional gamers, so there’s probably no need to worry. Music credits: Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. BSCBBs 009 - Shannon's Story
ETrained from a young age by an elite academy for assassins, Associate Baby-Sitter Shannon Kilbourne is ready for the biggest mission of her life when she runs into resistance from the place she least expects it: Her own mother. The boys travel back in time from the dystopian wasteland they’ve been trapped in to learn more about Shannon’s Story in a last, desperate attempt to save the future before the BSC Readers’ Request books run out. Oh, and Mrs. Barrett was in this one and, um, she was … um, very good in the baseball game we thought! Music credits: “Strange Dimensions,” by Marco Belloni Music “Showtime,” by Stockwaves “Lovely Memories Ident,” by CreativeMedias_net “Jazz Sad Hip Hop,” by Black Stone Sound Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Bye Bye Empire for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. BSCBBs 008 - Logan Bruno, Boy Baby-Sitter
EThe boys head back in time to get frisky with some whales and check up on what Logan Bruno’s up to, which, WOW! He’s fallen in with a group of ‘50s greasers called The Badd Boyz and led by a cigarette-smoking, shoplifting, leather-jacket-wearing rude dude called T-Jam who makes Stacey’s well-documented Wine Crimes look like a walk in the park. And that’s all real! That’s what this wonderful book is actually about. What a gift. What a time to be alive. Music credits: “Ambient Cosmic Soundscape,” by Allen Grey “Showtime,” by Stockwaves “Chopstick Slapstick,” by OurMusicBox “Scottish Bagpipe Rock Anthem,” by Allen Grey Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Bye Bye Empire for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. BSCBBs 007: Logan's Story
EThe boys are both canceled this week, sadly, along with Pete Black, Logan, and everybody else on the SMS Gladiators track team except Austin Bentley. And this is their YouTube Apology video. But despite the setback (and another more extreme one that has trapped one of them in 18th Century Glasgow), they valiantly make their way through this fascinating Readers’ Request about Logan Bruno. ‘Cuz Ann finally made one that’s just for the guys. Music credits: “Celtic Adventure,” by Allen Grey “Baa, Baa, Black Sheep,” by Singing Bell “Showtime,” by Stockwaves “China National Anthem (Rockendary Remix),” by Rockendary “Scottish Bagpipe Rock Anthem,” by Allen Grey Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Bye Bye Empire for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. BSCBBs 006 - Abby's Book
EJack takes a seat on the bench so that Regular Tanner and Future Tanner can solve the maddening puzzle that Jeanne Betancourt has created this week in the form of “Abby’s Book.” This mostly involves being incredibly sad about the fate of the surprisingly handsome Jonathan Stevenson, who — as fans of the BSC know all too well — went to ride the Rainbow Road far too soon. Music credits: “Epic Cinematic Sci-Fi,” by Luca Francini “Are You Sleeping,” by Skrianski Music “Showtime,” by Stockwaves “Sexy Hip Hop,” by Stereo Nuts “Dramatic End,” by Tim Cat “Sadness,” by AudioRose “Sad to Inspiring,” by Stockwaves “Sadness,” by Allen Grey Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Bye Bye Empire for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. The Lerangismas Episode
EThe war on Lerangismas is over! The era of Pete has begun! The boys gather on a snowy night to share some Lerangismas cheer and talk about their very favorite Lerangismas hymns. Music credits: “Magic Christmas Night,” by Musical Smile “Christmas Day,” by Russell Frederick “Christmas Magic Opener,” by Leto “Christmas Curiosities: Top 12 Oddest, Most Baffling, Absolute Worst, Never-to-Be-Classic Holiday Music Offerings,” by Peter Lerangis Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro and outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. BSCBBs 005 - Kristy's Book
EWith a little bit of help from their best friend Doctor Who, the boys take a magic phone box into the past and hang out with some of history’s most excellent people as they attempt to decipher the sacred text known as Kristy’s Book. Is Patrick Thomas really as unpleasant as he seems? Can we finally get to the bottom of what’s going on with Kristy and Bart? And how on Earth do you pronounce “Jeanne”? Only Isaac Newton knows the answers, apparently. Music credits: “Rocking Hard,” by Stellar Tracks “Who Let the Dogs Out,” by 8-Bit Misfits “Superheroes,” by Stockwaves “Showtime,” by Stockwaves “Haunted,” by LucaFrancini “Scottish Bagpipe Rock Anthem,” by Allen Grey “Dramatic End,” by Tim Cat “Sad to Hopeful,” by The Story Shop “Typewriter Blues,” by AllenGrey Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Bye Bye Empire for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. BSCBBs 004 - Mary Anne's Book
EOur adorable Time Babies run into an impenetrable temporal anomaly inside a beautiful and possibly slightly magical Lake House as they navigate their way deep into Mary Anne’s past to find out what happened to Alma, why Kristy and Claudia have been acting so strange lately, and what it is exactly that farmers do when they’re standing out in their fields. And with a little help from their very best friends, Baby Terminator and Baby John Connor, they might just find their way back to a future that we can all be happy with. But probably not! Music credits: “You Are My Sunshine (Piano),” by ROSA Pianist “Inspiring the Magic,” by The Story Shop “Showtime,” by Stockwaves “50’s Showcase,” by The Story Shop “Haunted,” by LucaFrancini “Dramatic End,” by Tim Cat “Sadness,” by Allen Grey “Sadness,” by AudioRose “Jazz Sad Hip Hop,” by Black Stone Sound “Typewriter Blues,” by AllenGrey Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Bye Bye Empire for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. BSCBBs 003 - Dawn's Book
EThe boys invent a nifty little machine in their garage that creates a time loop which will allow them to go all the way back to 1995 and attempt to foil a nefarious plot by Baby-Sitters Club ghostwriter Jeanne Betancourt to make it seem like she came up with all of the BSC lore before anyone else did. And it all goes horribly, horribly, horribly wrong. Music credits: “Hush,” by Ohm Lab “Teenage Freakout,” by Mules “Hush Little Baby (Musical Box),” by Allen Grey “Brahms’s Lullaby,” by Allen Grey “Sexy Hip Hop,” by Stereo Nuts “Carnival Lament,” by Robert Austin “Dramatic End,” by Tim Cat “Sad to Hopeful,” by The Story Shop “Typewriter Blues,” by AllenGrey Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Bye Bye Empire for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. BSCBBs 002 - Claudia's Book
EOur intrepid Time Babies take another trip back to save the future, this time into Claudia Kishi’s past, where the Great One (She Who Lurks in the Darkness and Devours the Innocent) lurks. It’s all pretty scary and this is a scare warning! Music credits: “Falling Skies,” by Allen Grey “Peaceful Magic,” by Silver Hoof “Brahms Lullaby Music Box,” by Rob Fehily “Terminator OST 8 Bit Remix,” by Artur Andreevich “Showtime,” by Stockwaves “Carnival Lament,” by Robert Austin “Haunted,” by Luca Francini “Dark Lullaby,” by J Blanks “Playful Baby Logo,” by Luca Francini “Scottish Bagpipe Rock Anthem,” by Allen Grey “Sadness,” by Allen Grey Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Baby Bee Wolfkiller for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. BSCBBs 001 - Stacey's Book
ELobstrosities, Clone People, a malevolent Cloud AI ... and they’re all converging on the sweet, sweet feet of the sweetest Baby-Sitters Club Ghostwriter we know. But that’s not even the worst of it. The worst of it is that there’s only two guys who can stop it, and they’re Time Babies. This godforsaken mess (and more!) is what you get when the boys attempt to read about the ancient past of the BSC in the pages of the Portrait Collection. This week, “Stacey’s Book.” Strap in. Music notes: “Falling Skies,” by Allen Grey “Nicest Rockabye Baby Lullaby,” by Little People in Training “Hush Little Baby (Musical Box),” by Allen Grey “Showtime,” by Stockwaves “Sexy Hip Hop,” by Stereo Nuts “Scottish Bagpipe Rock Anthem,” by Allen Grey “Typewriter Blues,” by AllenGrey Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb (and actual Baby, Cyril) for the intro music, and to Bye Bye Empire for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. Daddy Eats Cat Food
EDaddy and Tanner get some expert help as they navigate the sparse and unforgiving terrain they seem to have navigated themselves into after finishing the Baby-Sitters Club Mysteries. With no birds interested in taking them, and no more guidance from the ethereal voices of Ann M. Martin and Elle Fanning, desperation has set in as the boys wander, naked and bewildered, in the desert. And to make matters worse, they're starting to get hungry ... Music credits: “Walking on Sunshine,” by Allen Grey “Holiday in Paris,” by Shorties “Kids Logo III,” by Musical Smile “Modern Rock Stinger,” by Phil Larson “Dramatic Cinematic Build,” by bd Productions “Children,” by Musical Smile A very special thank you to all of our kind, funny, and incredibly helpful friends. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. BSCAC 001 - Kristy's Great Idea Audio Book
EOK, so someone called “Elle Fanning” went back and changed a bunch of things in this one, but you know what she couldn’t hide? THE TRUTH. This week, on a very special episode of the Baby-Sitters Club Audio Club, the boys are going back to where it all started, except this time they’re actually LISTENING. And guess what they find out? That every single thing they ever suspected about these books was right, and nobody – least of all Elle Fanning – is going to keep that from coming out. Anyway, Kristy’s back having the idea for the Baby-Sitters Club again in this one and getting ready to do the whole thing all over again and it’s frankly pretty wonderful. Music credits: “Carnival Lament,” by Robert Austin The Theme to Wii Sports by Kazumi Totaka “Uplifting Positive Techno,” by Kornev Music “Drama,” by Clean Mind Soundz “Sad to Hopeful,” by The Story Shop “Jazz Sad Hip Hop,” by Black Stone Sound “Sadness,” by Allen Grey Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. BSCMC 036 - Kristy and the Cat Burglar
EWell, it was always going to end in cat burglars, but if any of us had even begun to suspect who those cats and who those burglars were, let alone what horrible things they had in store for the dreamy Sergeant Johnson, we might never have embarked on this dangerous and mysterious quest in the first place. The Grey Man is here of course, and Tanner uses the dark arts of “Numberology” to solve the Ultimate Mystery, and Kristy and Cary Retlin are kidnapped by a literal gun criminal. What a way to go out! All that and more in the final Baby-Sitters Club Mystery Club before the boys crawl into a field and let the birds take them. Music credits: “Crime of the Future,” by The Story Shop “Victorian Detective Mystery,” by Niki N “Triumphant Opener,” by Stereo Nuts “Typewriter Blues,” by AllenGrey “Parting Ways,” by Allen Grey “Jazz Sad Hip Hop,” by Black Stone Sound “Mischief & Mystery Carnival,” by Allen Grey “Beautiful Darkness,” by Allen Grey “Sadness,” by Allen Grey Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Baby Bee Liz for the “Guessing the Mystery” theme. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices.
