Recently, it’d felt like people were following me. I always felt a presence around me whenever I left the house but when I turned to search for and catch a culprit, there was always no one. Hi, my name is Roxy and you might be wondering why I’m lying on the floor of the biggest hotel in Texas, the Clarion Hotel. I’m not unconscious, but I want them to believe I am. I should have probably just sat on my doorstep and waited but instead I decided to go to my neighbor’s house. It was a weird place by the way – the windows were tinted and it was very hard to see what was going on in there. I’d only seen my neighbor – a middle aged man – about four times. I couldn’t believe my luck! I was so excited.Who knew I could make dye from plants? I took a closer look at my exam papers, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.I mean, I could believe it because I knew I was kinda dumb but I was wondering what my parents would say. Would they kill me? Would they abandon me? Perhaps they’d ground me for life? Send me to boarding school? Something was poking my head. I sleepily reached up and pushed it away."Get away from me."My voice was barely audible. I was so hungry. Last night was a bad night. “Which lane should we start in first?” Mom asked as we entered the supermarket. “Snacks!” I pulled her along happily. Once on the snack lane, Mom looked around before she nodded at me. I quickly opened my lunch kit and threw a few snacks in before I slammed the lid shut. Soon after, we walked to the juice aisle where I placed six juice boxes into my kit. Next, Mom grabbed some fruit, paid for it and we walked out of the supermarket. I know what you’re thinking but Mom told me that she spoke with the manager, Mr. Hillman, who allowed her to take a few things and when Mom got paid she then paid him for the stuff. We have to hide while doing it because Mom told me, the employees get jealous because they don’t have the same privileges as we do so we must be careful not to let them see us. Come on guys cut me some slack. I was eight and she was my mother, what else was I supposed to believe? But that was just the beginning of my crazy adventures with my mom.
