In this Monday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly bringing in a rookie undrafted free agent offensive lineman that they showed interest in during the pre-draft process. We then move on to provide a health update of the Steelers as they have their second off day of their 2023 training camp. The steelers released their first depth chart of 2023 on Sunday so Alex and I go over the notable things on it, both right and wrong. The Steelers are giving offensive lineman Kendrick Green an opportunity to show what he can do at fullback as of this past week, so Alex and I have a longer conversation about that development. We go over Green's updated path to making the 53-man roster this year and the potential of him playing snaps at fullback in the team's preseason opener on Friday night. We fold the Green conversation into a talk about the top five training camp developments for the Steelers to this point. That actually turns into seven in total as part of the back and forth that Alex and I have. It makes for a great discussion overall. July 21, 2023 - Season 13, Episode 155 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning show, I am joined once again by Josh Carney and Jonathan Heitritter as they sit in for the vacationing Alex Kozora. We start this show by reviewing the latest concerning Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker Alex Highsmith, who signed a four-year contract extension this past week. We talk about how deserving Highsmith is of that deal, the message and example his deal sends to the rest of the organization and what we expect to see out of him on the field moving forward into his career. Moving on past Highsmith deal, the three of us discuss the latest negative-based narrative concerning the Steelers and them presumably overspending on the defensive side of the football. Not surprisingly, Colin Cowherd of Fox Sports attempted to take this narrative to a higher level on Thursday by comparing what the Steelers are doing with their spending to what the Kansas City Chiefs have been doing. We rip through the complete narrative the best way can and attempt to look at all sides of it. We all discuss what a successful 2023 season looks like for the Steelers both on defense and offense. Included within that, we discuss how Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett holds the keys to the team's Super Bowl window fully opening in 2024. In this show, I go over the early known details related to the Highsmith contract extension. I talk about new money average, likely guarantees and likely structure of the deal. I also give my thoughts on what Highsmith's new salary cap charge for 2023 is likely to be, or at least in the neighborhood of. Later in this 30-minute show, I talk about how the Highsmith deal was fairly easy to predict overall with the only real unknown being the length of the extension. I also discuss how the threat of the franchise tag in 2024 possibly played a part in the contract negotiations with Highsmith. In this Tuesday morning show, I am joined by Josh Carney and Jonathan Heitritter as they sit in for a vacationing Alex Kozora. We start this Tuesday show by discussing the outlook of the NFL running back market on the heels of three players at the position not receiving long-term deal after receiving franchise tags earlier in the offseason. On Monday, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris weighed in with his thoughts on the running back market, so we discuss that and what the outlook is for him with his fifth-year option decision due after the 2023 season. We discuss what a good 2023 season looks like for Harris and if a long-term extension with the Steelers is in the future. The three of us move on to talk about Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett and what 2023 potentially holds for him. We discuss how bullish the outlook is for Pickett in 2023 and if he will top certain over/under statistical plateaus. Who will be the Steelers' top wide receiver in 2023 between Diontae Johnson and George Pickens and will either top 100 receptions or 1,000 receiving yards? Josh and Jonathan both give their answers to those questions. I move on to ask Josh and Jonathan about their top offensive and defensive offseason additions made by the Steelers and also get their thoughts on second year player jumps in 2023. Who is the Steelers' unsafest, safest player this summer? Josh and Jonathan both attempt to answer that question ahead of training camp getting underway next week. We close this show out by going over who will be the Steelers top rookie in 2023 and what the team's top three positions of need are right now when it comes to the 2024 NFL Draft. In this Tuesday morning show, Alex Kozora and I start things off by talking about the Netflix 'Quarterback' series that just dropped. We have a lengthy conversation about Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett in this show on the heels of a recent interview that he did. We talk about the top coverage he likes to see, his maturation process and much more as he enters his second NFL season. Steelers wide receiver Allen Robinson II was a co-host on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Friday morning, so we quickly cover a few things that he had to say to open that show.
