In this Monday episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking more about the 2024 schedule that the Pittsburgh Steelers will face on the heels of it becoming official last Wednesday. This is more of my view of the schedule, fairness, potential pitfalls and more on the heels of Alex discussing the topic with Joe Clark and Ross McCorkle during the Friday episode for which I was absent. We discuss how the Steelers Christmas game against the Kansas City Chiefs was an additional kick below the belt on the heels of the team having to play all six of their AFC North games within their final eight scheduled contests. With Steelers DT Cameron Heyward now seemingly looking for a contract extension as of last week, Alex and I take a deep dive into his situation moving forward into the summer. We discuss what an extension might look like for Heyward that could work well for both him and the Steelers. We also discuss what a bad deal might look like for the Steelers from a guaranteed money standpoint past 2024. Alex and I discuss when we think we might see the Steelers and Heyward strike a new extension deal and if either of us are worried about him potentially bypassing all of the OTA sessions this summer. This conversation included the oddities of having all divisional matchups over the final eight weeks, a pair of short weeks preceded by Ravens rivalry games, and much more. In this Wednesday episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about some of the supposed 2024 schedule leaks for the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of the official version dropping on Wednesday night. If you believe the early leaks, which is dangerous to do, the Steelers will open on the road against the Atlanta Falcons and Denver Broncos and that sets up great early-season storylines if those two games hold true. The Steelers will also supposedly play the Kansas City Chiefs at home on Christmas and that game will presumably be streamed on Netflix to out of market viewers. While the Highsmith contract restructuring isn’t huge news in the grand scheme of things, the timing of it is and we tell you why that is.
