In this episode, we talk with Lindsay Thomas of the QDMA about the role that quality deer management has played in the current state of our deer herds and how the mindset of hunters has changed over the years. We also talk about ways that anyone could implement QDM practices on their property.

This week we had the pleasure to talk with Omar ‘CRISPY’ Avila. If you haven’t heard of CRISPY, you should. He is one of the most positive and inspirational people out there. From his stories of his time spent in the service, to his journey to becoming a passionate bow hunter, this was hands-down one of our favorite conversations we’ve ever had on the show.

This week we sit down with the founder of Modern Carnivore, Mark Norquist. Mark’s organization takes a different approach to recruiting new hunters, and with the current state of hunter numbers in our country, it’s much needed.

Jason Chaffetz served as a representative for Utah’s 3rd congressional district from 2009 until 2017, and now serves as a contributor to FOX News network. In this episode, we talk about some of the public lands issues and questions currently circulating throughout our country, as well as Jason’s background in hunting and conservation.

With the recent discovery of CWD in our home state of Mississippi, there have been several questions as to what this all means. In this episode we talk with Brian Murphy, CEO of QDMA, a knowledgeable voice on the subject, and answer several commonly asked questions about the disease and the implications for us as deer hunters.

The bond between a hunter his dog is one is hands down one of the most enticing factors of bird hunting, and getting the chance to see a talented dog in action is truly one the coolest things a hunter can witness out in the field. This week Lake and Jordan sit down with Master Trainer of Mossy Oak Kennels, Bill Gibson. Bill has been training British Labradors for most of his life and is now doing it professionally for Mossy Oak. In this episode, we discuss with Bill the how Mossy Oak Kennels came to be and the training regimen he goes through that builds dogs into incredible retrievers.

This week we talk with Hank Forester of the QDMA and Charles Evans of the Georgia Wildlife Federation who are behind one of the most successful hunter recruitment programs going on right now called Field to Fork. It’s a program that involves introducing individuals to hunting with a strong emphasis on the meat that it provides. We learn the origins of the program, and why it has been so successful.

Eric Dinger is the founder and CEO of Powderhook, an organization with the mission of making hunting and fishing accessible for all. In this episode, Lake talks with Eric about the current state of hunting and fishing in our country and what Powderhook and others are doing to help ensure than hunting, fishing, and conservation will still be around in the future.

Chad Mendes is more than just an incredible and successful fighter in the UFC. He’s also an avid outdoorsman that has been hunting his whole life. In this episode, Lake talks with Chad about his beginnings in the outdoors, how he balances his hunting with his busy fighting schedule, using his wildgame meat for food during training camps, and swap some fun hunting stories!

Memorial Day is special day for our country. In this special episode we talk with our good friend, Tom Fuller, who served in the military for over 20 years, most of that time being spent as an Army Ranger. We discuss the importance of Memorial Day, and about an incredible organization called Ranger Road that Tom works with that helps veterans transition from military to civilian life.

Jordan Blissett has been on a hot streak as the lucky camera man this year, filming more kills than anyone in the entire crew so far. He and Lake sit down to talk about his most recent hunts spent with Jimmy and Troy. They also talk about good setups for hunting the rut in the south and a creative way to find new spots to hunt!

Brad Farris had a week full of ups and downs! Going from having to pass on one of the biggest deer he’s ever seen on Cottonmouth due to a camera malfunction to killing two great bucks on back-to-back days, it turned into a week worth hearing about!!

Last week was an incredible time in the deer woods at Cottonmouth!! We were able to kill 3 bucks in 3 days!!! Lake Pickle and Troy Ruiz sit down to dissect each hunt, and go over each and every detail to what made each of them successful!!

Brad Farris and Lake continue their hunt for the biggest deer on Cottonmouth that they call “Rocker”, and it seems like they are closer to getting him now than ever before!! They also talk about current deer activity, different strategies they have tried this season to make the whole team more successful, and how the woods are starting to change as a result of being right on the fringes of the rut!!

Brad Farris has waited 19 years to finally draw a tag for a public land elk hunt in Nevada. After a 3 day adventure spent hiking, glassing, and killing a great bull, Brad and Lake sit down to discuss the ins and outs of the hunt, what made them successful, and all the cutting-up and fun that happened along the way!

Cuz has been dear friend of Primos since the very beginning! This year, he tagged along with us for an elk rifle hunt in New Mexico. While in camp, we got to sit down for a few minutes with him to share a few old stories, talk about his elk hunt, and hear his views on the future of hunting.

For those of us who love chasing Elk, September is sacred. The 2017 season was one to remember, from Will’s largest bull, to Lake’s first elk with a bow. We talk about the good, bad and ugly while explaining what made us successful!
