The self-appointed guardians failed their duty - - and now are demanding the reigns of power and control to be placed back in their irresponsible hands. In America’s corporate stables, gargantuan money from predatory investors such as BlackRock, Vanguard and others forced their way onto boards of seemingly impenetrable organizations with woke fascistic intentions. As we celebrate the birth of Christ and enjoy our Christmas season, we should recall that much of what we take for granted in the orthodox Christian faith was seriously challenged by the rise of Gnosticism in the 1st and 2nd centuries. One of the core Christian doctrines that were under attack was the incarnation of Jesus Christ. The story of the Trojan Horse has transcended the ages as an example of how an impressive seemingly strong object or plan would be attractive for a nation that later is shown to be filled with horrible and tragic consequences. If you were a kid growing up in the 70s and 80s you had one existential threat that we all had to prepare for whenever we left the house or whenever we left the sure-footed concrete pavement. It was the threat that nearly every TV show and every other movie would eventually put on horrific display as a warning that all of us needed to protect ourselves and prepare our friends for: Quicksand. Truth be told, quicksand was no real or substantial threat to any of us. Yes, there are some goopy “jelly sands” in California and there are clay-laden river banks and swamps throughout the United States that you could lose a shoe in but there is no real or ever-present threat of being slowly sucked into the death vortex of quicksand. It appears that the entire nation, for one reason or another, is focused on the trial brought by the thoroughly woke State of Wisconsin surrounding Kyle Rittenhouse for the deaths of Anthony Huber, Joseph Rosenbaum and the shooting of Gaige Grosskreutz. At the same time, DHS Secretary Mayorkas has stated, "Justice is our priority. That includes securing our border and providing relief to those [migrants] who qualify for it under our laws." In other words, DHS Secretary Mayorkas was telling the Senate committee that Americans should not have a secure border until they also provide justice for migrants. This whole discussion of what "justice" means to the Biden Administration is vitally important for everyone to understand. Is there a different "justice" for those considered oppressed by the Biden Administration as opposed to those of us that they have placed in an “oppressor” category? If so, are there two systems of justice in the United States? The answer to this question is that the only "justice" that is of any concern to the Biden Administration is "social justice." A Marxist-inspired “justice” that is applied to collective groups in the midst of a massive revolution that is being waged in the United States. Gaslighting is a form of psychological abuse where a person or group makes someone question their sanity, perception of reality, or memories. People experiencing gaslighting often feel confused, anxious, and unable to trust themselves. Gaslighting is normally manifested where the manipulator will boldly lie to their victims and never back down or change their stories, even when you provide proof of their deception. Gaslighters will also attempt to discredit their opponents by shaming, creating false accusations, or by claiming epistemological authority. Lately, Gaslighting has been used by those that support Critical Race Theory to discredit those that have objected to the use of CRT at public school board meetings, educational institutions, religious institutions, and in the corporate world. In each of these affinity groups, the opponents of Critical Race Theory are told that CRT is not being taught in their institutions. In our final discussion of the Changing Tides video series, Michael O’Fallon and James Lindsay discuss the alchemic properties of Hegel’s understanding of science. His view of science isn’t what most of us consider science. Hegel’s view of science is self-referential, more like a “theoretical lens” (or eisegesis) than a skeptical and empirical inquiry into the nature of reality. In other words, for Hegel and his ideological descendants, Theory comes first and evidence after. Though it seems removed from the ideas of today, Hegel’s view of science inspired other “scientific” views down through the modern era, most importantly that of Karl Marx. Marx believed he had a Science of HIstory in his Wissenschaftlicher Sozialismus, “scientific socialism.” He couldn’t have been more wrong. Thinking that his model was truly scientific, however, had a great deal to do with Hegel’s notion of science in which his own speculative idealism, taken as a systematic philosophy, generates the one correct way to understand the world and ourselves within it. In the previous episode of Sovereign Nations’s Changing Tides, The Seeds of Collectivism, James Lindsay, Stephen Hicks and Michael O’Fallon began with the metaphysical collectivist thought of Jean-Jacques Rousseau. They then examined Hegel and Kant, and concluded with Dr. Hicks’s assertion that if it weren’t for the success of the Russian Revolution, Marx would be considered a second or third tier philosopher. As the team begins Encroaching Darkness, Dr. Hicks brings the conversation from Marx and into the existentialists and their emphasis on the existence of the individual person as a free and responsible agent determining their own development through acts of the will. Dr. LIndsay analyzes Gramsci and his concepts of cultural Marxism. Dr. Hicks then provides a broad overview and remarked that the early 20th century highlighted the concept of false consciousness. Both men discuss the Frankfurt School and the influence of the critical theorists. The discussion progresses to Maoism with Dr. Lindsay making the statement “Mao did what Gramsci thought.” We end in Postmodernism and the ideological collectivist stew of Neo-Marxism. This past week, a grieving mother of a young man killed in Afghanistan was deleted and deplatformed from Facebook and Instagram for expressing her displeasure with President Joe Biden and his careless withdrawal from Afghanistan. This should bring to mind the stories of grieving parents and spouses who lost their loved ones in service in 2017 who in turn expressed displeasure in President Trump. These stories were shared in every major media outlet throughout the United States, and in particular, on social media.
