This story is about some weeds that grow next to a farmer’s field. The weeks are worried about their children and what will become of them? They ask the rye for advice but the rye is not very pleasant with his reply and so the weeds were left to decide on their own. They asked the breeze for help to spread their seeds and the breeze agreed but each of the weeds asked the breeze to not tell the other weeds. Butterwops is a beetle who has lived for a long time. The younger beetles call him “the general” and he tries his best to guide them. In part 8 of our story, Doctor Dolittle and his pets are on the pirates ship and sailing away as fast as they can but the pirates block their way. Doctor Dolittle tries to talk to the pirate and reason with him and keep him distracted while the ship starts to sink. When the pirates realize that their boat is sinking they get into the water and the sharks start circling. The sharks start circling around and Doctor Dolittle asks the pirates to promise to change their way and they promise. If they forget the sharks have promised to come back for them. Doctor Dolittle is finally on his way home. The monkeys shook his hand and then Doctor Dolittle and his pets head off to the shore wondering how they will make it home with no boat. When Chee-chee goes on ahead to look for coconuts the group gets lost and ends up heading into the Kings backyard. Of course the King locks them up again but Polynesia manages to fly away before anyone sees her and she and Chee-chee come up with a plan to get everyone out of the dungeon. In the fifth part of the Tale of Doctor Dolittle the doctor is sleeping. Chee Chee stands guard until the doctor finally wakes us and when he does he says it is time for them to leave. All the animals in the forest can’t believe he is going to leave, they thought he would stay. They try to think of ways to convince him to stay but Chee Chee explains to them why they need to go.
