#SlamRadio - 541 - Function (recorded at Paradigm Festival)
To relaunch his seminal imprint, Infrastructure New York, David Sumner aka Function presents his new 12", Green EP. Celebrating 27 years of Function releases this year and the label’s 25th anniversary, the label will serve as an outlet for his new material, reissues of out of print classics from Synewave, Sandwell District and Ostgut Ton (and of course, Infrastructure), as well as developing new artists and launching a long awaited Bandcamp page - exploring the annals of nearly three decades of the Function sound. As a member of the Sandwell District collective, Function, from 2007 onward was instrumental in cultivating and ushering in a new sound of dark, cerebral hypnotica - forcing the hand of change in global techno. Green EP serves as a testament to this, further exploring these depths. The EP pays homage to the day when David arrived in Berlin with his green suitcase where his record “Isolation” on Sandwell District was released, hitting the ground running and spring boarding into an incredibly successful career, becoming a stalwart DJ/producer, after years as a struggling artist. Green EP encapsulates the same raw power and hypnotic energy of his genre defining Sandwell District releases Isolation, Anticipation and Variance, updated with a modern flair. Subject f (Function) has clearly transcended, as expressed through the opening track “Initiation” arriving at his “New Designation”. On the b-side Function communicates his divine alignment through the broken beat, etheric “Aeternum (Meridian)”. Finally, Function closes Green EP with a live extraction of “Desire and Memory”, a brooding club stormer in contrast to the more experimental leanings of the original version, which appeared on Rrose’s label Eaux. Next to releasing a new EP and restarting the label, an attached Bandcamp page and label webshop will be launched. These portals will in time see the release of previously out of stock releases as well as re-issues and unreleased Function material, next to new releases by other artists. No doubt fans will be excited! One thing is clear: Function is back on track and more on form than ever! #SlamRadio - 540 - Nadia Struiwigh
From deep pools of ambience to the brain-feeding mechanisms of electro and techno, Nadia Struiwigh’s gift is in expressing herself with conviction through her machines. As an accomplished live artist and producer, her affinity for synthesis and sequencing results in a spellbinding strain of electronica drawn from a richly personal sonic space she has marked out for herself. Struiwigh’s recorded output has appeared on labels like Central Processing Unit, Nous’klaer Audio and Dekmantel - albums and EPs which reach from crunchy sequenced beats to vast swathes of pure, melodic tones. Her roots in Rotterdam and current location in Berlin equally speak to her affinity for techno - propulsive, dynamic machinations which manifest in DJ sets as well as live hardware performances. As a teenager enthralled with the Warp school of electronica and leftfield downtempo, Struiwigh was set on a path of discovery where the intricacy of production met with her impassioned, intuitive approach to composition. Her exacting approach to the technical aspects of the craft has earned her the knowledge to extract her own voice from any medium, but more importantly her music emerges from a very human need to communicate and connect. That connection is best manifested outside the studio. Struiwigh’s live sets range from patient, beatless immersions to kinetic peak-time rushes, sometimes straddling the divide in line with her omnivorous passion for ambient and techno alike. At times she’ll present her released works in a more patient, listening setting, while for the sensory overload of the dancefloor she tends towards a more improvised, open-ended approach to techno and electro. The exact make up of her live rig changes from gig to gig, keeping her inspired and ensuring no two performances are the same. High-profile shows in concert halls sit alongside strobe lit club sessions - she’s since become a resident DJ for Tresor to indulge her love of driving, psychedelically-charged techno, while warm-up sets give her the chance to indulge the deeper dimensions of the music she loves. The range of her tastes can be heard across leading platforms such as RA, Phantasy, Bleep and Red Light Radio, who have all invited her to their esteemed mix series’. Plugged into the moment and constantly exploring new dimensions of her sound, Struiwigh champions electronic music as a springboard for possibilities. With an exquisite clarity which comes from both technical skill and clear-eyed intention, her music thrives on heart and experimentation, powered by machines with as much character as the human at the controls. #SlamRadio - 539 - Kerrie
Irish-born, Manchester-based Kerrie is a multi-disciplinary artist, incorporating live sets, DJing, producing and running her label Dark Machine Funk across her repertoire of work. Having garnered a rich musical education through working at and holding a DJ residency for one of the UK's most respected record shops Eastern Bloc, Kerrie's in-depth knowledge and unwavering dedication to music shines through her notable back catalogue and bolshy, unforgiving DJ and Live sets. Honing her craft for over a decade, Kerrie has played worldwide in celebrated venues such as Tresor, Berghain, fabric, FOLD, Elsewhere NYC and festivals including Freedom Medellin, Freerotation, Drift and Basilar. First learning to mix via her brother's turntables in the early 2000s, it wasn't until 2009 that Kerrie invested in her own set-up and built an extensive record collection, covering everything from ambient, electronic, house, EBM, acid, electro, and her go-to genre, techno. Kerrie delivers tough moods from the turntables, as conveyed in her mixes for Reclaim Your City, Bassiani, SLAM and Crack, where she carefully blended high-energy styles of UK, Detroit, and European techno, many of which stem from the 90s and the 00s. It's frequent to hear Kerrie weave broken elements into her mixes too, chopping up the 4/4 groove at just the right moment to keep things propulsive. Kerrie's Live sets are fast becoming renowned for their trippy motifs and high impact on the dancefloor, applauded by Berlin's long-running club Tresor, where she made several appearances with her Elektron machines. Kerrie's Live set at Freerotation in 2019 was one of the festival's most talked-about debuts, and this year, Kerrie will return to and debut at multiple festivals and clubs across Europe and the Americas. Following well-received releases on labels such as Don't Be Afraid, Cultivated Electronics, I Love Acid and Symbolism, Kerrie launched her imprint Dark Machine Funk [DMF] in 2020. The label homes her distinctly raw aesthetic and honours her love for dark, gritty, metallic and industrial sounds melded with elements of funk, heavily influenced by second-wave Detroit artists, UK techno and music by some of her favourite artists; James Ruskin, Blawan and Surgeon. Kerrie's first release on DMF, "Inner Space PT1", was praised by Resident Advisor, who credited her ability to make "lean, fierce techno that knows how to groove." 2022 was a watershed year for Kerrie's productions. She debuted on the monumental UK techno label Blueprint with her EP "Raw Regimen", which landed acclaimed reviews. Truly welcomed to the Blueprint family, Kerrie will share her second EP on the label in May 2023 and join the crew at Blueprint showcases around the globe. This year marks the release of Kerrie's 10th EP on vinyl, and considering her consistent output on DMF, Blueprint and many more labels, the producer shows no sign of slowing down. Coming to international prominence in more recent years, regardless of her decade-long tenure in Manchester's vibrant scene, Kerrie is deeply invested in the culture of electronic music, starting from her teenage era as a raver in Ireland up to her innovative projects today. In 2017, she founded Eastern Bloc's in-house event space to nurture local talent, which remains at the heart of Manchester's music community. Kerrie is forging a long-lasting path fuelled by drive, passion, authenticity and a community-first way of thinking. #SlamRadio - 537 - Dave Wincent
My commitment to techno started at quite a young age. First I played music at school parties and later I performed at different venues in Hungary, like Kashmír club. At about the age of 15 I threw myself into writing music and started my own label (Cryptic) about 3 years ago. In the past few months my music has been released at Soma, one EP at Developerí’s Olympian and one EP at Materia this year. One of my biggest dreams has come true with Soma releasing my EP soon, after two V.A. releases. Later this year another EP is going to be released at Airsound records and some other releases are in progess, too. My musics have been played by the biggest names in the genre. I have already played music in France, Malta and Vietnam and I hope I can get to a lot of other countries and perform there, too. I have already played music in all the biggest cities in my country and I have a residence in my hometown. In April 2023 I am going to perform at Deadcode Production’s Hyperspace Budapest, a techno festival with a long tradition with a lot of fans coming partying from Hungary and from some neighbouring countries. I would like more and more people to get to know me and like with every DJ, my dream is to be able to perform in a lot of different places in the world.

#SlamRadio - 536 - Anastasia Kristensen
Anastasia Kristensen's greatest gift is to weave an electrifying sonic thread through her DJ Sets. She gathers sounds from a vast array of styles, enthusiastically researches off-grid electronics and blends them together through an adventurous, if not infectious, mixing technique. Dance oriented Avantgarde - that is exactly her edge. Her BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix turned so many heads that it got nominated for the Best Essential Mix of 2022 and is a testament to her ability to select and synthesize. To become the selector that she is today, Anastasia embraced non - conformity and fortitude throughout her life. Non - conformity, that means a musical curiosity that explores the less conventional places in electronic music, but it also means continuously aiming for her audience to let go on the dancefloor. At present she hosts regular all-nighters at Den Anden Side, a new underground venue in her hometown Copenhagen and holds a residency at Mainstream, the city's most reputable LGBTQ party. Both platforms stand for her versatility and community orientation and are key contributors to her experience of playing foggy high quality basements and festival stages dexterously and with devotion. I’s a rare quality to perform with such an ease in these divergent ambiances. Even more so, to provide such an engaging variety of sounds there and to captivate the audiences in an instant. Whoever attends one of Kristensen’s kaleidoscopic sets should be ready to get lost and experience the unpredictable. Having played the experimental UNSOUND Festival, and clubs like FOLD, BLITZ and Elysia in Basel, the Danish DJ convinced many knowledgeable crowds and gained praise for it. This is no different for her rare live performances - like the opening of the CTM Festival in 2018. To care for a community and to further build it up is of significant importance for the artist. Her 2020 efforts to curate the compilation “Rewire and Acquire” and bring 18 producers together in service of the organization “Equality Now”, show that she walks the talk intrepidly. Being a producer, too, the energy of dance - oriented Avantgarde is detectable in her releases and remixes. Following the debut “Maxima” (2019) on the cutting edge outlet Houndstooth, the EP “Ascetic” on Warps sub- label Arcola exhibits a futuristic genre blend between electro, IDM and spooky techno. Houndstooth is also the home for her latest release “Volshebno” that captures mesmerizing dancefloor moments. Fittingly, “Volshebno” stands for “magic” in Anastasia’s mother tongue, Russian. 2023 will be a continuation of her mission to represent musical curiosity and community, as Anastasia will host listening sessions in Copenhagen. Community Members will showcase music they love and tell the connected stories around them. Besides that, she will hold a residency at the highly reputable NTS Radio. By embodying authentic, tasteful curation and selection, by connecting individuals in communities they feel belonging to, Anastasia Kristensen will no doubt further transcend her inspiring artistic footprint into the electronic realm. #SlamRadio - 535 - The Serpent & The Owl (Brad Lee & Wetworks )
Ouroboros is a gnostic and alchemical symbol that expresses the unity of all things, material and spiritual, which never disappear but perpetually change form in an eternal cycle of destruction and re-creation. Native American peoples attach several meanings to the appearance of an owl, but owls are generally seen as messengers from the spirit world to humans. Among the Hopi people, owls represent a warning about sorcery. For the Ojibwe people, owls always warn of evil and death. Our Brotherhood has been tried, tested, and fortified. Stand present for auditory discipline. We have a statement to be delivered. #SlamRadio - 527 - Laure Croft
Dutch-born, Berlin-based DJ Laure Croft lives by the mantra ‘keep it sexy’. Her intention when she takes to the decks is to initiate the liberation that comes from the most powerful dancefloor experiences, when clothes come off and the energy reaches fever pitch. Her sound is a constant rush of high-intensity techno spanning the mid 90s to the mid 00s, mixed with the tactile, precarious thrill of vinyl. Continually digging for the tracks which fit her particular creative vision, she holds true to techno’s inherent futurism by creating something new and ever-evolving from the music she plays. Pulling together the pieces of the puzzle from decades of techno culture carved into a near-infinite pool of uptempo, forward-facing machine music. #SlamRadio - 522 - Sorcery
Sorcery cuts a unique presence in electronic music’s experimental underground. A passion for the interaction between acoustic and electronic instruments has lead to the creation of intricate, mind bending and challenging compositions. Whilst the intense, polyrhythmic power-play that underpins Sorcery’s live performances leaves a compelling mark, his compositions reveal a mastery of both the acoustic instruments and analogue equipment that define his sound. With a long-established artistic persona proving as polymorphic as his skillset, Ettore’s message cuts as striking and uncompromising, defined by a bold aesthetique-noire he can call his own. There's an unrelenting and visceral impulse to his work, defined by a life-long and far-reaching passion for the rhythmic qualities of music. It’s a compelling, abrasive alchemy, defined by a belief in pursuing the ‘Gesamtkunstwerk’. This is 'total' music production: composition, collaboration, performance and recording - of which Ettore is proven a master in all four disciplines.

#SlamRadio - 521 - OVERDRIVE
OVERDRIVE (VII Circle and Tham) Two like-minded shadows scouring through the night, distorted sounds hailing from the void, obscure images emerging out of the dark – a new musical formation has risen from the edge of our postmodern world: OVERDRIVE. The musical duo, consisting of Synoid’s THAM and the Destroy To Rebuild head VII CIRCLE, have arrived to deliver some sorely needed sonic clarity to the raving nation. Processing the aching zeitgeist of this decade, the two artists have combined their technical craft and musical vision to create an artistic body of work second to few. Distorting sounds into a gaping pit of overwhelming sonic force, bending rhythms into patterns of ecstasy, multiplying harmonies, grooving them into the very present – OVERDRIVE is the name of the game. What should you expect? – Unapologetic DJ sets, driven by an unquenchable thirst for rave. DJing, not understood as a blunt sequencing of matching records, but as building up musical narrations. Telling the stories of our youth, not with words but with synth lines, high hats, snares, and a hell of a lot of bass drum. Converting sonic energy into physical movement, transforming pain for a broken world into the blissful ecstasy of the night Tracklist via -Spotify: http://bit.ly/SRonSpotify -Reddit: www.reddit.com/r/Slam_Radio/ -Facebook: bit.ly/SlamRadioGroup Archive on Mixcloud: www.mixcloud.com/slam/ Subscribe to our podcast on -iTunes: apple.co/2RQ1xdh -Amazon Music: amzn.to/2RPYnX3 -Google Podcasts: bit.ly/SRGooglePodcasts -Deezer: bit.ly/SlamRadioDeezer Keep up with SLAM: fanlink.to/Slam Keep up with Soma Records: fanlink.to/SomaRecords For syndication or radio queries: [email protected] & [email protected] Slam Radio is produced at www.glowcast.co.uk

The Finnish-born, Berlin-based DJ is in her element when performing energetic peak-time or closing sets, such as at Tresor, where she is a regular. Paula is inspired by the queer techno scene, where she finds expressive freedom as a part of the LGBTQIA+ community. #SlamRadio - 517 - Risa Taniguchi & Black Asteroid
Risa Taniguchi is arriving at the forefront of the dark techno wave that has washed over the underground in recent years. The Tokyo born - and based - artist has spent the last four years cultivating a lo-fi sound of distorted textures, fizzing synths and a quietly burning energy, which consumes all who hear it. Preferring to play sets which are "late night, for the weirdos", Risa has a knack for getting crowds in a nocturnal trance, before delivering shocks and surprises with a curious motif or unpredictable element. For those who like to cut loose in a dark environment, she is the perfect selector. In the studio as well as the club, Risa focuses on the drums, programming kicks that bring visceral and often aggressive thrills next to a uniquely addictive layer of well designed snares and hi hats. Her signature has become her own subtle and intriguing vocal samples, best heard on Slipped My Mind and This Guy. She adds layers of acid bass and an always raw, edgy aesthetic. Having experienced them first hand whilst living in London, in 2010, Risa also has an enduring love of underground UK bass sounds, which can be heard in many of her tracks. The multi-talented act is also formally trained and a skilled player of the piano, who continues to play daily. Since her first release back in 2018, Risa has attracted high profile interest from A-list players Amelie Lens, Dense & Pika, Pan Pot, Perc and Daniel Avery; has hit the Top 5 of the Beatport's Leftfield Techno Chart and played everywhere from De Marktkantine in Amsterdam to Watergate in Berlin, and of course all the most revered spaces all across Japan including Contact, Womb, and Vent. Despite the pandemic, the recent years have proven to be a high watermark for Risa as she has delivered a continuous flow of new music, primarily on Pan Pot’s Second State and on Dense & Pika’s Kneaded Pains. With both of these mighty techno duos giving Risa their support and platforms, it has enabled her to start taking her first major footsteps into Europe, picking up her first headline bookings there. In 2022, she teams up for the first time together with Black Asteroid, a former engineer for Prince, and the duo will deliver three gritty, hard-hitting techno tracks on Chris Liebing's CLR. BRYAN BLACK aka BLACK ASTEROID started his music career as a sound designer and keyboard tech for PRINCE at PAISLEY PARK STUDIOS in his hometown of Minneapolis. While working for Prince, black proceeded to create his own music- some of the most innovative techno records released on labels such as MUTE and KOMPAKT. These records caught the ear of MARTIN GORE from DEPECHE MODE. Soon after, Black was on tour with Depeche Mode with his band MOTOR, and recording songs with Martin Gore at his home studio in Santa Barbara and Berlin. Together Black and Gore wrote a top 40 single “Man Made Machine”. In 2011 the debut BLACK ASTEROID single, “Engine 1” introduced Black Asteroid to the world, and introduced an industrial rock sound into techno that quickly took off, propelling Black to play at clubs such as Berghain, Fabric London and major festivals. The focus was in favor of song structures and vocals in a techno template. After a string of EPs, the debut album “Thrust” was released in 2017 with many cross over singles, featuring vocals from ZOLA JESUS, COLD CAVE and MICHELE LAMY. The fashion designer RICK OWENS picked up on what was happening, and used Black's music for his runway shows in Paris. The two quickly became friends and collaborators. Currently Black Asteroid is prepping a new album and several EPs, in addition to working in the fashion world, having just released a collection of sunglasses with Valley Eyewear, and music for Raf Simons and Rick Owens.

Born and raised in Thessaloniki she started her music career in 2012. Annē is a promising upcoming talent fully dedicated to techno music and focused on developing her career as a DJ & producer. Her sets are powerful & pumping with never ending dynamics, focused on the perfect interaction with the crowd. Her track “Fairy Dust” on Out of place records gained massive support from the scene counting more than 700.000 streams on Spotify & many more on all other platforms. She has already two shows in HÖR berlin, while she booked a third one this September! Her future though seems brighter, with her new collaborations with Ben Sim’s label Hardgroove, Soma records, as long as many vinyl releases & V/ A vinyl compilations later this year. Her point of view is that a Dj is never greater than his audience. This is a unique situation where the dancer becomes part of the whole setting of the music being played. In this, her role is as much part of the audience as the dancers. Basically, she always has one foot on the dance floor and one in the booth. #SlamRadio - 503 - DLV
Vienna-born and Berlin-based DLV is not a blank slate in Europe’s techno industry. He defines his music as a realm of sinister peak-time Techno. A strong focus on productions and his DJ career made him score an underground hit called “Rave Instructor“. This heavy dance-floor weapon achieved some big support coming from techno royalties such as Amelie Lens, Regal, and many more. Besides his longstanding residency at Grelle Forelle, he kept pushing his personal limits. As founder of Acid Techno Techno Club, a Vienna-based label and event series he started working as well behind the scenes and contributing to the techno industry. Soon he became a well-known and respected figure in the Austrian capital’s Techno scene. The dedication to his work and passion for music, resulted to perform at Red Bull’s Soundclash in Stuttgart back in 2019, followed by shows in Europe‘s infamous Techno capitals Berlin and Paris. With convincing performances, he could gain international attention for his projects. During the current pandemic situations, he focused on new productions and could score a release on Klangkünstler‘s OUTWORLD. With „Der Teufel (Gazometer 98 Mix)“ he once more gained international support by Kobosil, Amelie Lens, Dax J and many more pushing him to the top of the Beatport Hard Techno charts. #SlamRadio - 502 - Vendex
Vendex has found his way, the path of Techno, with a philosophy that envelops him in a cloak of darkness. Influenced by the literature of Dante Alighieri in his work the Divine Comedy, as well as everything related to history, Vendex comes with the intention of creating a path to an inner journey wrapped in dark melodies, blunt and sharp bass that defy the natural , reaching supernatural sounds that touch or even reach what would be the sound of the underworld. Generating sounds that guide the Dantesque idea of a trip in the underworld with the aim of reaching paradise. All this through a forceful and enveloping sound, this creating a path to the nine levels of hell, purgatory and finally reaching paradise Tracklist via -Spotify: http://bit.ly/SRonSpotify -Reddit: www.reddit.com/r/Slam_Radio/ -Facebook: bit.ly/SlamRadioGroup Archive on Mixcloud: www.mixcloud.com/slam/ Subscribe to our podcast on -iTunes: apple.co/2RQ1xdh -Amazon Music: amzn.to/2RPYnX3 -Google Podcasts: bit.ly/SRGooglePodcasts -Deezer: bit.ly/SlamRadioDeezer Keep up with SLAM: fanlink.to/Slam Keep up with Soma Records: fanlink.to/SomaRecords For syndication or radio queries: [email protected] & [email protected] Slam Radio is produced at www.glowcast.co.uk

#SlamRadio - 497 - Philippa Pacho
Having grown up in a house where collecting music was the norm, Swedish-born DJ Philippa Pacho has carried this through to her adult life. As a result, the Berlin-based artist is a well-tuned and confident selector who knows how to capture an audience in any given situation. It all began with her father’s hobby of collecting jazz, blues and folk records. As a teenager, Philippa built her own music library before attending her first rave, and later discovering the underworld of dance music and club culture. As standard in a community of electronic music heads, Philippa made friends from the scene in Stockholm and in 2010, formed a collective with a handful of girlfriends. Together, the women curated their night every Thursday at 2:35:1; an art gallery and club located in the city centre. It was here that Philippa delved into DJing headfirst, taking advantage of the creative freedom on offer and learning the skills of mixing and working the dancefloor until dawn. With two years of DJing under her belt, by this time she earned a residency at the Stockholm-based club Under Bron — where she remains the longest-running resident since the space opened in 2010 — Philippa’s early sound leant towards hypnotic techno, but she has since graduated to a include myriad of bouncy and tripped-out rhythms within the genre. Playing at forest raves on the outskirts of Stockholm and upending abandoned warehouses in the city — balanced between Under Bron bookings — these raw experiences infiltrated Philippa’s sound down to the last cadence, resulting in her groove-heavy collection and quick-fire blending. Making the move to Berlin in 2014 allowed Philippa to flourish and finesse her sound. Known today for merging contemporary and old-school techno while dipping into different tempos and sub-genres, Philippa has played for Ellen Allien’s We Are Not Alone series, Synoid parties and DJ Tool, D.Dan and Hyperaktivist’s event, Mala Junta. Such a diverse range of bookings has allowed her to reveal other dimensions to her sound, and joining MESS line-ups — a collective that celebrates diversity and supporting DIY club culture worldwide — has recently contributed to the growth of Philippa’s profile. A recent chapter for Philippa sees her founding the label ‘positivesource’ together with Blue Hour. The pair release various artist EPs from artists including Oprofessionell, Newa, Sugar, Alan Backdrop, Rove Ranger, Lady Starlight, LDS, Blue Hour himself and many more. With the return of nightlife, Philippa’s focus remains crisp and clear; her goal is to get you to move your whole body in expressive ways. She sees herself as a dancer first and foremost and has that always in mind when she performs. "A good DJ set is like a candy bag. You need a bit of the sweet, sour and some unexpected flavours to tickle your taste buds." #SlamRadio - 496 - madwoman
When the wretched becomes the strong, when the obscure becomes the norm, when the twisted becomes reality, that is when madwoman blooms to her fullest. Hailing from Stockholm, the Berlinette-by-choice has taken her own sweet time to rise to the attention of ravers around the globe, and her body of work makes it clear that she has come to stay. Fueled by diverse musical influences and guided by a strong as impeccable sense of aesthetics, madwoman has developed a sound very own to no one but herself. Inspired by bits and pieces of seemingly unconnected styles like Metal and Opera, Trip-Hop and Psychedelic Rock, she has found a way to incorporate all the above and more, to make them her own, to build something new. Where others see differences, she sees similarities, where others make distinctions, she finds connections, where others see emptiness, she feels rooms full of opportunities. Set in order by her vast creative mind, all her influences molded together and created a heavy artillery of sonic weapons aimed directly at the dancefloor. Her highly energetic up-tempo beat, interfused with heavy Industrial bits, blended with obscure sounds from beyond, manages to create atmospheres like no other. madwoman incites the rawest, purest form of rave on any dancefloor, and she enjoys it to the fullest.
