Netflix announces new Swedish comedy film Netflix has greenlit a new Swedish film starring Hedda Stiernsted. The film titled, One More Time, will revolve around a 40-year-old woman who relives the best day of her life again and again after she is hit by a bus on the eve of her 40th birthday. The film is directed by Student Academy Award winner Jonatan Etzler and stars Miriam Ingrid, Elinor Silfversparre Fahlén, and Maxwell Cunningham in supporting roles. Aishwarya Lekshmi, Amala Paul, and Sneha to star in new Mammootty film After directing Aaraattu starring Mohanlal, filmmaker B Unnikrishnan is set to helm his next project with Mammootty. Dungeons & Dragons to be directed by Red Notice filmmaker Entertainment One’s Dungeons & Dragons series will be helmed by Red Notice’s writer-director Rawson Marshall Thurber. The popular role playing television game will be backed by Hasbro-owned eOne and Paramount Pictures. Thurber is set to write, direct and executive produce a pilot episode for the series. The Outrun to feature Saoirse Ronan Saoirse Ronan has been cast as the lead in The Outrun, a film focusing on alcoholism and human’s bond with nature. Written by Amy Liptrot, the film will be helmed by The Unforgivable director Nora Fingscheidt. Ronan will play Rona in The Outrun, a woman grappling with alcoholism and just released from rehab. She returns to her hometown in Scorland’s wild Orkney Islands after 10 years and somehow reconnects with the place that she grew up in. Raj and DK’s new Netflix series titled Guns & Gulaabs A new Netflix series has been greenlit by filmmakers Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. titled Guns & Gulaabs. This is going to be the director duo’s second collaboration with the streaming giant after last year’s Telugu movie Cinema Bandi. Guns & Gulaabs, the filmmakers' state, blends aspects of crime thrillers and 90s romance dramas, to present a story about the “misfits of the world.” Other than Guns & Gulaabs, Raj and DK are also teaming up with Shahid Kapoor for an Amazon Prime Video untitled thriller. The Fall of the House of Usher begins production Mike Flanagan has kickstarted the production of his upcoming Netflix project titled The Fall of the House of Usher, the director announced on Twitter. The series has also added a new cast member, House of Cards and Scream: The TV Series actor Willa Fitzgerald. Among the others who are part of the cast are Mary McDonnell, Frank Langella, Mark Hamill, Carl Lumbly, and Kate Siegel. Hocus Pocus 2 set for Halloween 2022 release The sequel to the popular comedy horror film Hocus Pocus is set to release nearly 30 years after the original, confirms producer Adam Shankman. Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler, and Kathy Najimy will reprise their roles as the witches. Directed by Anne Fletcher, the film will also feature the return of Doug Jones and is set for Halloween release later this year. Netflix acquires rights to Sundance documentary Descendant Netflix has acquired the rights to Margaret Brown’s documentary film Descendant. The film, which premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, won the Special Jury Award for Creative Vision. Netflix has collaborated with Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground Productions, for the film’s presentation. Descendant revolves around a community in Alabama who hailed from Africa. Referred to as Africatown, this community consists of members who were illegally transported as slaves in the last known slave ship, the Clotilda. Kevin Costner to direct period Western Horizon Kevin Costner will reportedly helm the upcoming period Western film titled Horizon. The production for the film is slated to begin on August 29 under Costner’s production banner. He will also feature in Horizon. The film charts the years following the Civil War that led to the expansion and settlement of the American west. Masters of the Universe film lands at Netflix Mattel Films’ Masters of the Universe has landed at Netflix, with West Side Story actor playing Prince Adam or He-Man. The live-action feature, based on the famed 1980s action toy line hero, was earlier in development at Sony. The film will be directed by the Nee Brothers, who are best known for directing Band of Robbers and The Lost City. The new movie will follow an orphan named Adam who learns he’s a prince born to be a savior of a distant land. Keith Moon biopic in works The Who’s celebrated drummer Keith Moon biopic is now in the works, and will be shot in Britain in June this year, as per reports. The project has been tentatively titled The Real Me and will be backed by the band’s lead singer Roger Daltrey and guitarist-singer Pete Townshend. Jason Momoa joins Fast & Furious 10 Jason Momoa has joined Vin Diesel in the upcoming 10th installment of Fast & Furious. The Aquaman and Dune star is rumored to play one of the antagonists in the movie, also starring Sung Kang, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Michelle Rodriguez. Sizzling news first up, Downton Abbey: A New Era release date pushed Downton Abbey: A New Era’s release has been pushed, the production and distributions companies Focus Features, Universal Pictures and Carnival Films announced recently. The film was scheduled to release on March 18 but the release got delayed by a month in the UK and now the US release has also been postponed to late May. Similar to the original film, Downton Abbey: A New Era will follow a family of aristocrats and their enterprising servants as they deal with the changing times around them. Moon Knight screenwriter Jeremy Slater to pen Mortal Kombat sequel Warner Bros and New Line Cinema are developing the second part of the film, based on the extremely popular video game, Mortal Kombat. Jeremy Slater, who came onboard as the screenwriter of Disney Plus Marvel series Moon Knight, will be penning the screenplay of the spin-off. Details regarding the cast and crew are yet to be revealed. The Batman not an origin story, confirms filmmaker Matt reeves The Batman director Matt Reeves has thwarted all notions of the upcoming film featuring an origin story of the famed Caped Crusader. In an interview with Esquire, Reeves stated, “We’ve seen it [an origin story] so many times. It’s been done too much. I knew we couldn’t do that.” Reeves instead focused on the story of a young Bruce Wayne, trying to figure out his path to glory. The filmmaker took references from Batman: Year One by writer Frank Miller and artist David Mazzucchelli. Baahubali prequel series at Netflix reportedly being reevaluated Baahubali: Before The Begininng, Netflix’s highly awaited prequel series to the tentpole Baahubaali franchise, is being reevaluated now, as per reports. The show is based on Anand Neelakantan’s novel The Rise of Sivagami which charts the titular heroine’s journey of becoming an all-powerful queen. Netflix greenlights political thriller The Diplomat from Grey’s Anatomy writer Grey’s Anatomy writer-producer Debora Cahn has inked a multi-year overall deal with streaming giant Netflix, under which she will be penning and producing the political drama show The Diplomat.
