This week Tom & Zeus review the 1977 Love Gun which was in support of their 6th studio album, Love Gun. This is SIOL's 11th KISS tour reviewed. Love Gun was released on June 17, 1977 and the tour began on July 8, 1977 in Canada and ended September 5, 1977. This is probably KISS at its peak. The band was still continuing to get bigger and better. This is before the solo albums, before the movie and before the major cracks began to take its toll. The stage for the tour is probably the most famous, with the staircases and Peter's drum riser. The costumes are probably KISS' most famous as well. The setlist featured 5 new songs from Love Gun and many of the classic songs from the first three albums, including Deuce were dropped. As usual, the guys breakdown the costumes, stage, set list and overall tour. They then rank the costumes, stage, set list and overall tour against the previous 10 tours reviewed so far. Fresh out of the Betty Ford Clinic, Ozzy was presented with songs from his guitar great Jake E. Lee. Bob Daisley once again added lyrics, but did not perform on the album. Ozzy had a new rhythm section, Phil Soussan on bass and Randy Castillo on drums. Ultimate Sin was Ozzy's highest charting studio album at the time at #6. On the 68th Episode of the Album Review Crew of Shout It Out Loudcast, Tom, Zeus & special guest, SIOL Hall Of Famer, the host of Trunk Nation on SiriusXM, the Eddie Trunk Podcast, That Metal Show, the one and only Eddie Trunk to review the 1976 classic rock album from Rainbow, "Rising." Rainbow's Rising was the 2nd studio album by Rainbow, the band that guitar god Ritchie Blackmore formed when he left Deep Purple. This album saw a whole new band, with the exception of the legendary Ronnie James Dio on vocals. Jimmy Bain joined on bass, Tony Carey on keyboard and SIOL favorite Cozy Powell on drums. Rising not only continued where the debut album left off, but surpassed it by leaps and bounds. The musicianship, the lyrics and the neo-classical form of metal was unmatched. The whole band shined on this album, but especially, Dio, Blackmore and Powell. Though there are only six songs on the album, songs like Tarot Woman, Stargazer & Light In The Black which are classics which may never be topped. This was Zeus' pick. His third Rainbow album, each with a different lead singer. So grab your wizard costume and get ready to rock with Buffalo Bill at the end!
