<p>SWM 108 - What does the Bible say about hell? Check out the <a href="https://uncoveringintimacy.com/swm-108-what-does-the-bible-say-about-hell/">show notes here</a> for more details and links.</p><p>This podcast episode is a Bible study about the topic of hell.</p><p>One of the most confusing subjects in Christianity is the topic of hell. I think it's so confusing because most base their beliefs on a handful of passages and then a heavy dose of pop culture.</p><p>And the popular view is that hell is a place of eternal torment where vengeful God sends you for all of eternity for not obeying Him. People use this belief to try and scare people into being Christians. The "If you don't, you'll go to hell and be tortured for eternity" type of evangelism. </p><p>Unfortunately, this makes the basis of your salvation one of fear rather than love and also turns God into a sadist rather than a loving Father. Because what sort of loving God would create trillions of people, knowing the vast majority would reject Him and then keep them alive for eternity to torture them?</p><p>That is a difficult question for Christians to answer, and they usually resort to an argument that amounts to "He's God and can do what He wants." </p><p>If you read certain parts of the Bible the way you must justify this view, it also makes heaven a front-row seat of the torture of hell, making all saints sadists who will revel in the agony of the lost for eternity.</p><p>It's no wonder people look at Christianity and think you must be insane to follow such a God. </p><p>You cannot support this view without leaving out large portions of the Bible. Instead, I think the Bible shows that even hell shows a loving and merciful God who gives us a choice between eternal life or eternal death. Then He grants us our selection like a loving father would.</p><p>So, let's see what the Bible says about hell. Do people get tortured for eternity? Is it just an infinite existence of everlasting torment? Is God really that sadistic?</p><p>Now, I know this subject is going to upset some people. I challenge you to read it until the end. Check the Bible verses for yourself. This post will be mostly Bible verses with my thoughts interspersed so you can know what I'm getting from those verses.</p><p>Do your own study. I don't require you to agree with me, and I'm more than willing to be challenged on this so long as you do it in good faith. <p>My Vasectomy Experience. I posted some of their testimonial on social media (with permission). You may have seen it.</p><p>During their email, they also asked some questions, which I wanted to pick up here. Here’s the continuation of that testimonial:</p><p><i>But as we chuckled about 9 consecutive days of sex... we both paused...We are 42 and 43 yrs young... Having another child is not something we feel God is prompting us to do. We very clearly felt His timing for all 4 kids. We do not feel any direction that way right now. And so... the V-word crossed both our lips. At the same time. Vasectomy. And I'm not sure what to do… Natural Family Planning is hard when we are keeping each other aroused daily, lol.</i></p><p><i><a href="https://www.uncoveringintimacy.com/what-would-be-on-your-pre-vasectomy-wishlist/">Your post about your surgery</a> is 5+ years old.... any updates, additional thoughts, additional things to research? We are Southern Baptist raised, and raising our kiddos Baptist/ non-denominational. In other words, denomination is not a factor in this decision. But there are so many opinions out there, I’m at a loss. I know that is what they are, just opinions. At this point, if I spend time in prayer and the Lord brings me peace... I’m going to trust God to give my husband the same peace. But as a little context that got me thinking - my wife and I had a night in a hotel recently to celebrate our anniversary (which was actually 6 months ago, better late than never). As a treat and for fun, I bought her some lingerie that had a hole in the crotch area. It was very sexy and she loved them and we made love while she wore them. To which she exclaimed, "It feels so naughty!"…which I had to agree with, but I’d probably describe more like lots of "fun" whether naughtiness was an element or not. It seems like every time he gives me oral sex, I end up orgasming within just a few minutes. Now, as great as orgasming is, I feel like after I orgasm so quickly, I am not as stimulated by penetration. Also, I really enjoy oral sex and I wish the experience could last longer. My husband and I waited until marriage to have sex. But before I was following Christ and before I met my husband, I was sexually active, including oral sex, and this never happened. So my questions are: 1) is this normal? is "premature ejaculation" a thing in women? 2) are there any ways to fix this and/or last longer? and 3) in women, if you orgasm once, is there a "come down" period? <p>Is a sexual activity wrong if it was learned from a sinful source? We enjoy a nice variety of activities and positions. Our frequency is definitely on the higher side, so I really have no complaints.</em></p><p><em>We have used porn, either separately or together, for much of our relationship and are working on that issue. I understand the problems with that and the implications. That is not what this is about. </em></p><p><em>Many of the things we do sexually have been learned and implemented from watching or reading porn. We have discovered many very enjoyable activities from that area of our lives together.</em></p><p><em>So, here is the question. Does a sexual activity become wrong or sinful if it was introduced from a sinful source? I feel that as long as the activity involves a man and woman married to each other, that activity becomes blessed in the marriage bed. I know others who don't feel the same way. <p>Are sexual fantasies okay for Christians? Does it matter what the fantasy is? If it's only in your mind, does that make it okay? There have been ups and downs of course, but for the most part, we really have no complaints that way.</em></p><p><em>One part of that sex life that has been around since very early on is fantasy. We both, me somewhat more than her, enjoy and get very aroused by telling each other different fantasies. The ones that are the most effective and "fun" are ones that involve other people, and even more, same-sex activity. She gets extremely aroused and has very intense orgasms when I tell her about me having sex with another man, vice versa when she tells me about having sex with another woman. Neither of these has ever actually happened, it's strictly fantasy, and neither of us actually has a desire to fulfill these fantasies, but they continue to be part of our sex life. </em></p><p><em>I don't feel guilt or shame about this at all as I feel it's only in the fantasy realm. She is all over the map. Sometimes she feels intense guilt and shame, sometimes she is ok with it. Sometimes, she tries hard to not go there, and other times she asks me to take her there. It's quite confusing for both of us.</em></p><p><em>I just want to get some feedback and perspective on this in an open, Christian forum.
