What is it like to celebrate a medal win at Paralympics GB House? In the final of the Men’s SL3 Para Badminton at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games on Tuesday (3 September 2024) Bethell in his second Paralympic Games won a Silver with just missing out on Gold to Kumar Nitesh of India. RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey caught up with Dan on the terrace of Paralympics GB House to find out how the competition for Dan had been over the whole games and how he was feeling winning his Silver medal and just missing out on Gold. Robert Doorington is one of the Paralympics GB Volunteers who has been helping to ensure that everything runs smoothly at Paralympics GB House in Paris, meeting some of the Paralympics GB Athletes and ensuring that they get to there press interviews on time. It takes a lot of organisation to look after all the athletes competing in the Paralympics 2024 in Paris and Allan Russell got to head behind the scenes with House Co-Ordinator Terry Race for a tour of GB House. On the terrace of Paralympics GB House RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey was joined by Dave Ellis and his pilot Luke Pollard who won a Gold in the Paratriathlon PTVI classification at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.Following a few moves of the start of the Paratriathlon Dave and Luke’s start got away at 12 noon on Monday 2 September 2024 and about half an hour before Dave’s partner Claire Cashmore competed in the PTS5 classification and coming away with a Silver medal too.Image shows Toby talking with Dave and Luke on the terrace at GB house

With the swimming in full swing at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey caught up with twins Scarlet and Eliza Humphrey who were competing in the Women’s S11 400 Metres Free Style final on Friday Night (30 August 2024). Sadly no medals so far for Scarlet and Eliza at their first Paralympic Games with 6 place for Scarlet (just over 23 seconds behind the leader) and 8th place for Eliza (just over 40 seconds behind the leader).There will be more than likely Paralympic medals for the Humphrey Twins in the future as they continue on their Paralympic swimming career.(Image shows RNIB logo. Ocean Outdoor and Paralympics GB have launched for the first time paralympic fan zone locations around England for fans to get together, watch the games, socialist and try out various different sports. Hubert has visited the flag ship location at Battersea Power station, and he managed to grab a chat with the Power Station’s marketing director Louise Errington-Thomas.

With the Paris Paralympic Games just around the corner here on RNIB Connect Radio we are catching up with some of the Paralympics GB visually impaired athletes who will be competing out in Paris with the hope of winning some medals too. At the home of British Rowing in Caversham just outside Reading and on the edge of the Redgrave Pinsent Rowing Lake RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey caught up with Paralympics GB visually impaired rower Sam Murray who will be competing in Paris in the new PR3 mixed double sculls boat class with Annie Caddic. Rowing in this new event will see Sam fulfil a Paralympic aspiration that started at a talent identification event back in 2007 where he was first noted as a potential rower. Sam and Annie have rowed together since 2023 and were recently crowned European champions. Sam tells Toby about how he got into rowing, being inspired by tales of his Great Grandfather who was a Thames Lighterman, how he and Annie feel coming into the Paris Games as European Champions in this new boat class, how rowing in the mixed double sculls differs from the mixed coxed four and how it works on the boat between him and Annie.
