Voices In My Head Podcast Episode #282 : Meet John Tibbs

Voices In My Head Podcast Episode #282 : Meet John TibbsOur featured guest this week on Voices In My Head is musician John Tibbs. In 2016, John released his debut full-length, Dead Man Walking, to great critical acclaim. Reviewers said about the album, “with shades of Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp and Creedence Clearwater Revival, the heartland rock Tibbs traffics in is just right for the weightier, darker side of the redemption story.” Following the success of his 2016 debut record which garnered a Top-20 AC (Christian) single and a Dove Award nomination in the Rock/Contemporary Album of the Year category, John partnered with ToneTree and Bethel/Heritage Media to release his follow up, Heartland, crowd-funded through his online community via PledgeMusic to continued great critical acclaim. "Unabashed Midwesterner John Tibbs has released more authentic, epic and quality tunes in his short run as a professional songwriter than many artists will produce in a lifetime. Heartland brims with the kind of honest rock and roll that the late, great Tom Petty trafficked in, with the 'heart-on-his-sleeve' craftsmanship that creates an immediate bond with the listener on the first pass." — Jesus Freak Hideout"With the Heartland EP, John Tibbs combines thought-provoking lyrics with his rock roots style. The captivating sonic landscape will keep listeners entertained song after song, indicating good things to come from Tibbs in the future.” — New Release TodayBlessings,Rick Lee Jameswww.RickLeeJames.com This is a public episode. Voices In My Head Podcast Episode # 269: Crowd Music Founder & CEO Mike Castronovo

My guest on this episode of Voices In My Head is Crowd Music’s Founder and CEO, Mike Castronovo. Crowd Music is an Industry Renovator that values music and realizes that today’s music creators are being robbed of their intellectual properties.Mike wasn’t looking to start a music company, but on January 22, 2014 he read a piece in the Wall Street Journal that opened his eyes to a massive problem. He learned the current music industry wasn’t fairly compensating those who actually create the music we enjoy, which ultimately hurts all of us as music listeners and fans in the long run. The more he dove in to trying to understand the problem, the more he was amazed that nobody had come up with a viable solution that would work for everyone.A lifetime guitarist and songwriter himself, Mike was still far enough outside the industry that he was able to take a different perspective. He imagined how the music business could be changed in a way that would benefit everyone. And so Crowd Music was born. Voices In My Head Podcast Episode 242: Tim Timmons on Cancer, Kids Music, and 10,000 minutes.

Our Guest On This Episode Is Tim TimmonsSinger/songwriter, worship leader and record producer Tim Timmons, in partnership with 10,000 MINUTES Kids, recently released his second children’s project, Who I Am. This all new Bible-based, “kid-tested” and “parent-approved” debut is available now at iTunes, Amazon.com and other digital retailers internationally, and directly at www.TimTimmonsMusic.com (digital and CD). Produced by Timmons and Christian Hale, Who I Am features 10 fully-charged pop songs intended for kids and parents “to pray all week long.” With all songs either written or co-written by Timmons, each song was carefully crafted with the question in mind, “what do we want our kids to pray?” “The idea of both the title track, ‘Who I Am,’ and the whole record – is actually our identity of what it looks like for us to know that we are loved by Jesus all week long, no matter what,” says Timmons. “It’s about working through our fears, working through the issues that we have, even when we ‘blow it’ or ‘do dumb things.’” Inspired by Timmons’ 10,000 MINUTES movement and his personal life story, the release of the record coincides with the launch of the 10-week Who I Am Family Blog Series created by Timmons in order to help provide support and a resource for adults and families. The series will feature both weekly devotional blogs and practices geared to help families follow Jesus all week long through family discussion of scripture, devotional readings and practical suggestions found every week in “This week’s 10000 MINUTES Practice.” Timmons, who writes an “X” on his wrist each day as a reminder of God’s love for him despite his circumstances, adds, “Who I Am was created to encourage kids to walk with Jesus all week long – and to remind them of their identity in Jesus. My hope is that kids and parents alike will remember that we are all loved by God—the God of the Universe, no matter what. It’s who we are! It’s who I am in Him!” More from Rick Lee James This is a public episode. ETHICS In CHRISTIAN MINISTRY: Voices In My Head Podcast Episode # 241 with guest Charles Christian

When you are in the ministry long enough, you see not only great joys and the triumphs, but you also see some of the brightest and most talented pastors and leaders depart from their ministries because of poor ethical decisions. In his book, Ethics in Christian Ministry: A Guide for Pastors and Mentors, Dr. Charles Christian, who holds a PhD in theology and ethics, draws from his experience of 25 years in the pastorate and his experience as a professor of theology and ethics at Fuller Theological Seminary and MidAmerica Nazarene University to take the reader on a journey through the professional and personal life of today’s pastor to provide an overview of the important ways a leader can avoid ethical snares in the context of ministry. It is an honor to have Charles Christian as our featured guest this week on Voices In My Head. Get your copy on Amazon:Ethics in Christian Ministry: A Guide for Pastors and Mentors, by Charles W. Empathy For The Devil with JR. Forasteros

...The sins of wrath, idolatry, and abuse of power are closer to us than we think. How do we guard against them? We learn not only by following moral exemplars, we also need to look at the warnings of lives gone wrong. In his new fictionalized narrative, Author JR. Forasteros reintroduces us to some of the most villainous characters of Scripture. He shows us what we can learn from their negative examples, with figures such as Cain, Jezebel, King Herod, and even Satan serving as cautionary tales of sin and temptation. Forasteros vividly tells their stories to help us understand their motivations, and his astute biblical and cultural exposition points out what we often miss about their lives. We soon discover that we might have more in common with these characters than we would like to admit. But by the grace of God, we can avoid their mistakes and be freed from our own villainous tendencies. Take a fresh look at the scoundrels of Scripture, and find sound pastoral guidance here to walk the path of righteousness. This podcast was recorded in person with JR. Forasteros in Dayton Ohio in early October 2017. While the book was only available on pre-order then, it is now available to buy:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076BTYDNT/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1. This is a public episode. Does Christian Music Need A Reformation? - Guest Dave Trout of UTR Media - Voices In My Head Podcast Episode #237

It’s the 500th anniversary of the start of the Protestant Reformation. To “reform” is to improve or amend something that is wrong, corrupt, or unsatisfactory. With that definition in mind we thought it would be a great idea to record a conversation about whether or not there is a need for reformation in Christian music. If there is anyone qualified to have this discussion it is Dave Trout of UTR Media.Dave has been in Christian radio in some form or fashion for over 23 years. He has worked for WETN-FM in Wheaton IL, WCFL-FM in Morris IL, Moody Radio, and ReFrame Media. He started the “Under The Radar” radio show in 2008 while working at ReFrame, and in 2014 that show became its own independent non-profit ministry, under Dave’s oversight. In 2017, the organization underwent a creative relaunch, and now produces a wider variety of media projects under the new name, UTR Media. Besides well-crafted music, Dave loves pizza, watching Netflix/Hulu, Apple products, fishing, the Cubs, and driving 5 mph over the speed limit. He lives in Oak Lawn, IL with his wife and 5 children.Listen in as Dave Trout and Rick Lee James have a great discussion on Christian music and what UTR Media is doing to bring about reformation in the industry through great podcasts, innovative videos, and even producing album.Follow Rick Lee James on Spotify This is a public episode. Voices In My Head Podcast #235: Soul of Cash with Brian Owens

My guest today on Voices In My Head is R&B Singer BRIAN OWENS. With his music being compared to legendary artists like Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding and the Reverend Al Green, Brian has been featured on the Ellen Degeneres Show, Entertainment Tonight and Fox and Friends among others. Aside from making incredible music with Grammy award winning artists like Michael McDonald, Brian is also an Air Force veteran, a husband, a father, and a man of faith who provides leadership development for urban youth in his hometown of Ferguson, Missouri through Life Arts Incorporated.Brian’s original music is full of messages that are encouraging, thought-provoking, and touching with subjects that range from social awareness to family life. His latest album, Soul of Cash, is a cover album of songs made famous by Johnny Cash. But unlike most cover albums, Soul of Cash reimagines the Man In Black’s hit song giving an R & B feel that makes them feel fresh and original. Filled with guest appearance by artists like ROBERT RANDOLPH, THE DEACONS OF SOUL, RISSI PALMER, and DYLAN MCDONALD just to name a few, Soul of Cash breathes new life and emotion into the songs of Johnny Cash for a new generation. Brian Owens, it is my great pleasure to welcome you today as my featured guest on Voices In My Head. NOTE: Stay tuned until the end of the podcast for special surprise, a speech delivered by Johnny Cash himself. The speech was recorded at the Academy of Achievement Summit at the Glacier Park Lodge at majestic Glacier Park in Montana.
