Resistance Brief 3.27.26

I’m tired of being told one thing while watching the exact opposite happen. They tell us they support small businesses, but write policies that benefit corporations. They say they care about safety, but fund systems that don’t prevent crime. They claim to stand for freedom, while taking rights away.At some point, it stops being confusing—and starts being obvious. You know who they are. Vote accordingly.https://vic4hd47.com This is a public episode. If you'd like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit resistorvic.substack.com/subscribe

Resistance Humor? 3.26.26

We’ve been watching Republicans endorsed by Trump lose all over the country, in special elections and in primaries. The latest being a special election for the Florida State House district that includes Mar-A-Lago. So I thought, “what the heck? I might as well try to get my opponent endorsed by Trump.”This video is part humor, part fundraiser, and part strategy. If, by some twist of fate, my video were to make it to Trump’s eyes and he endorses my opponent then I can run ads telling everybody that Trump endorsed him. I don’t think that can hurt me.About that fundraising component….. If this video gives you a giggle, you can drop me a buck or two here. This is a public episode. Resistance Query 3.24.26

I went to a community event in Walsenburg, CO expecting to listen. What I heard forced me to ask a question I didn’t expect to ask out loud. Are Republicans evil? This isn’t about labeling people. It’s about responsibility, silence, and the choices we all face heading into 2026.If you want to help me fight the evil, please support my campaign. Thank you. This is a public episode. Resistor Vic Pod 39: Julie Gonzales

State Senator Julie Gonzales appears to be leading the pack in the Democratic Party primary for U.S. Senate in Colorado. She has a solid lead in party preference polls conducted at local party assemblies. The State Assembly is this weekend (March 28). Incumbent Senator Hickenlooper has dropped out of the caucus process after securing enough signatures to get on the ballot. If he had stayed in the caucus and not received at least 10% of the coming vote, his petitions would not have qualified for him for the ballot. Stay tuned. This is a public episode. Resistance Brief 3.20.26

I went into the Heritage Foundation’s voter fraud database and did the math myself. Out of roughly 2.4 billion votes cast over four decades, they found 1,620 cases of fraud. Only 99 involved non-citizens.That’s not a widespread problem. That’s statistical noise. So why are we seeing calls for stricter voting laws, federal control of elections, and aggressive voter roll purges? In this video, I walk through a simple analogy that makes the scale of the issue impossible to ignore.vicmeyersfordemocracy.com This is a public episode. Resistance Hope 3.18.26

I’ve spent a lot of time talking about what’s broken. This time, I want to show you what’s starting to work. In Colorado, we’re seeing signs of real change driven by activism and community. Resistance Brief 3.14.26

In this video, I explore why America is weaker today — from leadership purges to policy failures — and why voting Republican in 2026 only continues the trend. A concise, evidence-driven breakdown for voters who want clarity. This should be the national message for Democrats. Since our party leaders are still horrible messengers, I’m hoping to show other candidates across the country that this message resonates. If it resonates with you, go here and donate to my campaign. If I raise $5, then I’m wrong. If I raise enough to impress, then other candidates will adopt this message because I’ll be telling them how much you liked it.Also, the more you share it. Resistance Exasperation

The United States has spent trillions of dollars fighting wars tied to oil.But what if we invested that money at home instead? In this video I look at what those trillions could have done for American energy independence, including a simple idea: what if we invested in energy storage for every household in America instead of fighting another war for oil?Sometimes the question isn’t whether we can afford something. It’s whether we’re choosing the right thing.https://vicmeyersfordemocracy.com/ This is a public episode. Resistance Brief

Last year the Colorado legislature passed the Worker Protection Act. Governor Polis vetoed it, and the House was one vote short of being able to override that veto.I helped organize a coalition of Colorado content creators to push for the bill and encourage people across the state to contact their legislators and the governor’s office. We came close, but not close enough. This week my opponent, Ty Winter, voted against the Worker Protection Act again. If I win this seat, the House will finally have the vote needed to override the governor’s veto the next time this bill comes forward.Colorado workers deserve better.vicmeyersfordemocracy.com This is a public episode. Work. Resistor Vic. Campaign. Work. Resistor Vic. Campaign……..Sometimes a guy just has to take a minute and have some fun. That’s what this video is. I read that John Mayer got his big break at Eddie’s Attic. I hope that’s a sign of where Billy is going. That’s why I made this video to help promote his gig. This is a public episode. Mike Francingues (Big Mike on TikTok) is a union worker and part-time journalist. He’ll be guest-hosting for me for the foreseeable future so I can focus more energy on my campaign for Colorado House Dist 47. I’ll step in occasionally as time permits. His guest for his first episode is The Leftist Timothy. One of my favorite TikTok-ers because he’s an incredibly smart guy with great research skills and an incredible knowledge of history.Mike and Tim talk about our war on Iran, Israel’s influence on said war, and the Texas primary victory of James Talarico. Resistance Brief 3.3.26

We’re being told that Iran has killed “over 2,000 Americans” over the past 47 years. That number isn’t random, and it isn’t neutral. In this piece, I look at how casualty figures are framed to trigger emotional memory, why certain historical comparisons are invoked, and how war is sold to the American public. From Orwellian language to congressional politics, this isn’t just about foreign policy — it’s about how narratives shape consent.vicmeyersfordemocracy.com This is a public episode. Resistor Vic Pod 36: Vic Meyers

Now that I’ve entered the race to represent my Colorado State House district, I find my time seriously constrained. That being the case, I’ve asked Big Mike (Mike Francigue) to step in and guest host the Resistor Vic podcast. I may jump in from time to time and host an episode. It just depends upon when or if I have the time. I picked Mike because he’s been interviewing candidates from around Colorado. He does a good job of asking good questions and I feel I, we, can trust him to take care of the Resistor Vic podcast. I’ll still be helping to arrange guests and publishing. I’m kinda jealous about Mike getting to interview one of the guests I’m currently working on getting. Resistance Outrage 3.2.26

I’m not interested in partisan takes on the latest strike. I’m thinking about something else — the silence. The muted response. The familiarity.Columbine once shattered us. Now children die in schools, here and abroad, and the reaction feels routine. This is about conditioning. About desensitization. Resistance Policy

I’ve published a new surveillance policy that calls on Colorado to prohibit license plate reader cameras on government property and ban the collection, use, or sharing of that data by state agencies. There is already bipartisan concern about these systems. Resistance Brief 2.26.26

I have been thinking about America as a young nation still trying to grow deep roots. Resistance Endorsement

In this video I give two clear examples of how the party establishment is trying to protect their turf by making life hard for challengers to the status quo.Karen Breslin in Colorado has been campaigning for a year while holding down her day jobs. The party establishment is making it hard for her to get visibility and raise money. If she emerges from the caucuses as the only challenger to Hickenlooper, she’ll take off.Kat Abughazaleh is hated by AIPAC and the party establishment in Illinois is falling in line by trying to reduce her visibility. These are the kinds of candidates that we need to succeed if we’re going to change the status quo. Resistance Brief 2.24.26

I used to treat the State of the Union as a civic responsibility. It was a moment to hear policy direction, to evaluate leadership, to judge whether Congress was doing its job.Today it often feels like spectacle layered on spectacle. Counter events, boycotts, viral moments, and endless commentary can distract from the simplest and most revealing thing: letting people watch for themselves. This piece is about how we got here, what changed, and why sometimes restraint is the most powerful political response.#Politics #Democracy #PoliticalCulture #StateOfTheUnion #CivicResponsibility #AmericanPolitics This is a public episode. Resistor Vic Ep35: Alex Kelloff

I sat down with Alex Kelloff, who is running for Congress in Colorado’s 3rd District, to talk about what representation is supposed to look like.We covered the district itself, rural economic realities, infrastructure investment, job creation, and something I think matters more than almost anything right now: Congress reclaiming its authority as a co-equal branch of government. For too long, Congress has surrendered its power to the executive branch. That has consequences for accountability, for budgets, for war powers, and for everyday Americans who deserve legislators who actually legislate. This conversation wasn’t about buzzwords. It was about responsibility. If you care about the role of Congress, the future of rural communities, and what serious governance looks like, I think you’ll find this one worth your time. The Supreme Court ruled some tariffs illegal. That doesn’t mean the damage disappears. Consumers won’t get refunds. Small businesses don’t magically reopen. Repping Resistance

Real representation means more than speeches and photo ops. I took a close look at HB 26-1048, the back to school sales tax holiday proposal. Resistance Brief 1.30.26

When the primaries are over, we can circle the wagons. But first we have to make sure we have the right wagons to circle.“Their hands are tied.”That’s the line I keep hearing from people defending Congressional Democrats who refuse to fight from the minority. So I went and read the rules. In this video, I walk through some specific House and Senate procedures that allow even a single member of Congress to force transparency, slow the process, and put executive power on the public record. It’s about making power visible, because transparency is often an inoculation against corruption. If you’ve ever found yourself excusing inaction, this is your invitation to look at what Congress can actually do. Resistance Endorsement

In 2014 I ran for Congress in Colorado CD4. In 2021 I was redistricted out. In 2031 I’ll probably be redistricted back in. It’s a pattern around here. It’s also why I care about who the congressional representative for that district is. Trisha Calvarese is a homegrown, working-class, proven Democrat who has done more for the district as a candidate and a staffer for the AFL-CIO than any actual Representative in the past 25 years. She’s helped bring jobs. She’s helped rural hospitals navigate grants to get ambulances. And she’s turning red voters blue.So I decided to make a video to endorse her in the primary. I didn’t rush to comment. I watched the statements. I watched the video. And I kept coming back to the same question. When does a right stop being a right and start becoming a permission? This piece is about more than one incident. From Ukraine’s frozen battlefields, to neglected infrastructure in the American South, to the question of due process and constitutional rights at home. It’s not a policy breakdown. It’s a reflection on what happens when politics grows cold.We need to remind the American people every day between now and Nov 3 that the Republicans are the party of I.C.E.I don’t know that I qualify as a poet, but I didn’t know how else to title the post. Resistance Needs A Plan: P7

Music has always been part of resistance — from the Underground Railroad to the civil rights movement to the digital platforms we use today. In this entry of Resistance Needs a Plan, I talk about why people in power try to control culture, why music has always been treated as a threat, and why sharing the right songs can help build something larger than any single voice. This post ends with an open invitation to artists who make music that challenges power or speaks to this moment. If that’s you, leave a comment. I’m opening space for artists on upcoming TikTok and YouTube livestreams.Once a week, share a protest song. Tag the artist. Another violent ICE encounter in Minneapolis. Another round of silence from the people who want to be president someday—but won’t lead today. This piece isn’t about party politics or campaign strategy. It’s about the absence of visible, vocal leadership when congressional Democrats pass DHS funding and the public is left asking who, if anyone, is willing to draw a line. The question isn’t who’s running. Resistance Needs A Plan: P6

In this installment of Resistance Needs a Plan, I focus on something bigger than protests, moments, or viral calls to action. I talk about organized labor as an institution, one of the few remaining structures in American life that is still shaped and controlled by regular people instead of politicians and donors. This piece is about collective power, why showing up locally matters, and how protecting labor is also a way of protecting democracy itself. Resistance Needs A Plan: P5

In Part 5 of Resistance Needs a Plan, I focus on the line that defines the difference between resistance and the very forces it opposes. Violence doesn’t just cause harm — it erodes legitimacy, weakens moral authority, and strengthens authoritarian narratives. This piece looks at why nonviolence is not passivity, but a strategic choice that preserves power, credibility, and the possibility of a democratic future. This is a public episode. Resistance Needs A Plan: P4

In Part 4 of Resistance Needs a Plan, I focus on the guardrails that make democracy work: institutions that slow down power, protect access to information, and create accountability. These aren’t abstract ideas — they’re people, rules, and systems that show up every day to keep things fair, open, and explainable. This piece looks at why those guardrails matter, how they weaken when we stop backing them up, and why defending them is a form of resistance in itself. This is a public episode. Resistance Needs A Plan: P3

In Part 3 of Resistance Needs a Plan, I shift from endurance and community to leverage. Resistance isn’t just about showing up — it’s about knowing where pressure actually works. This piece looks at why waiting for the next election may be waiting too long, why claims of powerlessness fall short, and how citizens can focus their energy on the institutions and leaders who still have the ability to act. Strategy matters. Direction matters. This is about pushing where it matters. This is a public episode. Resistance Needs A Plan: P2

This is Part Two of Resistance Needs a Plan. This piece focuses on community — not as a social nicety, but as a form of civic power. Movements that thrive on division depend on people feeling isolated and alone. Democratic culture survives when people know each other, support each other, and stay visible together. From families and local groups to clubs, teams, and everyday spaces, this episode explores how small connections form networks — and how those networks make people harder to silence and easier to stand with.Part Three will focus on how to use that power. Resistance Needs A Plan: P1

This is Part One of Resistance Needs a Plan, a series of videos where I offer what I think is a better plan for moving forward than what we’ve been following so far. Some of it is about what we are already doing. Some of it is about what we need to do different. I hope you find it to be worth your time. This first piece focuses on something that often gets dismissed: self-care as a form of strategy. Systems that thrive on chaos and exhaustion don’t need to silence people if they can simply wear them down. Staying informed, staying connected, and staying motivated all begin with taking care of yourself.Part Two will move outward, from the individual to the community — and how building real connections strengthens democratic resistance.
