Resistance 'What if' 4.9.26

People often ask why the military hasn’t stepped in during to save us from Trump. In this video, I explore a different possibility—one that challenges the assumption behind the question itself. Drawing on my perspective as a veteran, I walk through a scenario that may explain more than we realize, and why the absence people see might not be absence at all.Vic Meyers for Democracy This is a public episode. Resistance CTA 4.8.26

The 25th Amendment isn’t the safety valve people think it is.It requires action from the very people who have shown no willingness to act — and Congress can’t invoke it themselves. That’s the reality we’re dealing with.So if that’s not the answer, what is?In this video, I break down what the 25th Amendment actually says, why it won’t work in this situation, and what action still matters right now.Vic Meyers for Democracy This is a public episode. This episode was supposed to feature Alan Govenar. Alan is a Guggenheim Fellow who made an excellent documentary on Jasper, Texas. Unfortunately, 4 hours before record-time, I received an email saying he couldn’t make it. I called my friend Will Westmoreland. We had both been wanting to do something like this for some time now so he accepted my last-minute invitation.I’m so glad he did because it was a great conversation about rural America.Enjoy. Resistance Warning 3.5.26

I’ve been talking about picking a side. Now I’m asking a different question.Where is the line?At what point does this stop being politics and start being about the safety of the country and the people serving it?If you want to help me keep asking these questions and holding people accountable, you can support the campaign here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/vic-meyers-2(ActBlue state’s in their policies that they don’t share or sell donor emails. Resistance Honor 4.2.26

We are days, if not hours, from having boots on the ground in Iran. Republicans could have stopped this. Before voting on the war powers resolution they all told us that they would vote differently if this were going to be a “boots on the ground situation.”They failed. Now the coming days, weeks, and maybe years will give us more stories like that of Sergeant First Class Alwyn Crendall Cashe. Remember this and vote accordingly. This is a public episode. If you'd like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit resistorvic.substack.com/subscribe

Resistance Trepidation

Long before I was on Substack, I made a series of videos on my YouTube channel about Trump’s long obsession with ending birthright citizenship. He’s been talking about it for over 10 years.Today it’s very likely that Trump lost before the Supreme Court. This video is encouraging people to go back and watch my Dec 2024 videos on this. These are links to the videos.Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4I hope I’m way off base. Unfortunately, too many of the things I’ve predicted about a 2nd Trump presidency have come true. At a minimum, I think we need to be thinking about the things I said in these videos. This is a public episode. Resistance in 2 Parts 4.1.26

This is Part 2 of a two-part series. In Part 1, I asked you to picture a logjam building on our river of liberty. In this video, I zoom in.These “logs” aren’t abstract ideas. They’re real systems already in place — surveillance laws, data collection, facial recognition, AI, and the ways that information is being used to shape outcomes in our daily lives. Some people are trying to manage this.Others are blocking those efforts. And that’s where the real problem begins.Vic Meyers for Democracy This is a public episode. Resistance in 2 Parts 3.31.26

This is Part 1 of a two-part series.I’m asking you to picture a river, a logjam, and a lake downstream that represents our democracy.Logjams don’t happen all at once. They build slowly over time. And if they’re not managed, they can change the course of the river… or break all at once and send everything crashing downstream. In this video, I lay out that picture and what’s at stake if we ignore it.In Part 2, I’ll show you what happens when that pressure finally breaks.Vic Meyers for Democracy This is a public episode. Resistor Vic Pod 40: Logan Davis

In this episode Big Mike interviews award winning journalist Logan Davis of the Colorado Times Recorder(CTR). CTR had a groundbreaking story about ICE hold rooms in Colorado. The story was then expanded to ICE hold rooms all across the country. Mike asks Logan about this.Mike also talks with Logan about Colorado Democratic Party caucus results, left versus centrist candidates, and honest journalism vs whatever we call today’s media. Resistance Rights 3.29.26

I’ve been thinking about something that feels obvious on the surface, but falls apart the moment you look closer: do we actually value public education?Every state constitution requires a system of public schools. But neither the U.S. Constitution nor any state constitution guarantees a child the right to be educated. That gap matters.Because when you look at how we actually spend money, what we prioritize, and what policymakers choose to focus on, the goal doesn’t seem to be learning — it seems to be maintaining a system. In this video, I walk through how we got here, what changed, and why that missing “right” might be more important than we think. If we want a functioning democracy, we need an educated population. And right now, we’re not acting like that matters.Vic Meyers For Democracy This is a public episode. Resistance Brief 3.27.26

I’m tired of being told one thing while watching the exact opposite happen. They tell us they support small businesses, but write policies that benefit corporations. They say they care about safety, but fund systems that don’t prevent crime. They claim to stand for freedom, while taking rights away.At some point, it stops being confusing—and starts being obvious. You know who they are. Resistance Humor? 3.26.26

We’ve been watching Republicans endorsed by Trump lose all over the country, in special elections and in primaries. The latest being a special election for the Florida State House district that includes Mar-A-Lago. So I thought, “what the heck? I might as well try to get my opponent endorsed by Trump.”This video is part humor, part fundraiser, and part strategy. If, by some twist of fate, my video were to make it to Trump’s eyes and he endorses my opponent then I can run ads telling everybody that Trump endorsed him. I don’t think that can hurt me.About that fundraising component….. If this video gives you a giggle, you can drop me a buck or two here. This is a public episode. Resistance Query 3.24.26

I went to a community event in Walsenburg, CO expecting to listen. What I heard forced me to ask a question I didn’t expect to ask out loud. Are Republicans evil? This isn’t about labeling people. It’s about responsibility, silence, and the choices we all face heading into 2026.If you want to help me fight the evil, please support my campaign. Thank you. This is a public episode. Resistor Vic Pod 39: Julie Gonzales

State Senator Julie Gonzales appears to be leading the pack in the Democratic Party primary for U.S. Senate in Colorado. She has a solid lead in party preference polls conducted at local party assemblies. The State Assembly is this weekend (March 28). Incumbent Senator Hickenlooper has dropped out of the caucus process after securing enough signatures to get on the ballot. If he had stayed in the caucus and not received at least 10% of the coming vote, his petitions would not have qualified for him for the ballot. Stay tuned. This is a public episode. Resistance Brief 3.20.26

I went into the Heritage Foundation’s voter fraud database and did the math myself. Out of roughly 2.4 billion votes cast over four decades, they found 1,620 cases of fraud. Only 99 involved non-citizens.That’s not a widespread problem. That’s statistical noise. So why are we seeing calls for stricter voting laws, federal control of elections, and aggressive voter roll purges? In this video, I walk through a simple analogy that makes the scale of the issue impossible to ignore.vicmeyersfordemocracy.com This is a public episode. Resistance Hope 3.18.26

I’ve spent a lot of time talking about what’s broken. This time, I want to show you what’s starting to work. In Colorado, we’re seeing signs of real change driven by activism and community. Resistance Brief 3.14.26

In this video, I explore why America is weaker today — from leadership purges to policy failures — and why voting Republican in 2026 only continues the trend. A concise, evidence-driven breakdown for voters who want clarity. This should be the national message for Democrats. Since our party leaders are still horrible messengers, I’m hoping to show other candidates across the country that this message resonates. If it resonates with you, go here and donate to my campaign. If I raise $5, then I’m wrong. If I raise enough to impress, then other candidates will adopt this message because I’ll be telling them how much you liked it.Also, the more you share it. The farther it will go. This is a public episode. If you'd like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit resistorvic.substack.com/subscribe

Resistance Exasperation

The United States has spent trillions of dollars fighting wars tied to oil.But what if we invested that money at home instead? In this video I look at what those trillions could have done for American energy independence, including a simple idea: what if we invested in energy storage for every household in America instead of fighting another war for oil?Sometimes the question isn’t whether we can afford something. It’s whether we’re choosing the right thing.https://vicmeyersfordemocracy.com/ This is a public episode. Resistance Brief

Last year the Colorado legislature passed the Worker Protection Act. Governor Polis vetoed it, and the House was one vote short of being able to override that veto.I helped organize a coalition of Colorado content creators to push for the bill and encourage people across the state to contact their legislators and the governor’s office. We came close, but not close enough. This week my opponent, Ty Winter, voted against the Worker Protection Act again. If I win this seat, the House will finally have the vote needed to override the governor’s veto the next time this bill comes forward.Colorado workers deserve better.vicmeyersfordemocracy.com This is a public episode. Work. Resistor Vic. Campaign. Work. Resistor Vic. Campaign……..Sometimes a guy just has to take a minute and have some fun. That’s what this video is. I read that John Mayer got his big break at Eddie’s Attic. I hope that’s a sign of where Billy is going. That’s why I made this video to help promote his gig. This is a public episode. Mike Francingues (Big Mike on TikTok) is a union worker and part-time journalist. He’ll be guest-hosting for me for the foreseeable future so I can focus more energy on my campaign for Colorado House Dist 47. I’ll step in occasionally as time permits. His guest for his first episode is The Leftist Timothy. One of my favorite TikTok-ers because he’s an incredibly smart guy with great research skills and an incredible knowledge of history.Mike and Tim talk about our war on Iran, Israel’s influence on said war, and the Texas primary victory of James Talarico. Resistance Brief 3.3.26

We’re being told that Iran has killed “over 2,000 Americans” over the past 47 years. That number isn’t random, and it isn’t neutral. In this piece, I look at how casualty figures are framed to trigger emotional memory, why certain historical comparisons are invoked, and how war is sold to the American public. From Orwellian language to congressional politics, this isn’t just about foreign policy — it’s about how narratives shape consent.vicmeyersfordemocracy.com This is a public episode. Resistor Vic Pod 36: Vic Meyers

Now that I’ve entered the race to represent my Colorado State House district, I find my time seriously constrained. That being the case, I’ve asked Big Mike (Mike Francigue) to step in and guest host the Resistor Vic podcast. I may jump in from time to time and host an episode. It just depends upon when or if I have the time. I picked Mike because he’s been interviewing candidates from around Colorado. He does a good job of asking good questions and I feel I, we, can trust him to take care of the Resistor Vic podcast. I’ll still be helping to arrange guests and publishing. I’m kinda jealous about Mike getting to interview one of the guests I’m currently working on getting. Can’t say too much yet but I think you’ll want to hear this one.Stay tuned. And if you’re wondering about my campaign, got to VicMeyersForDemocracy.com to learn more. This is a public episode. Resistance Outrage 3.2.26

I’m not interested in partisan takes on the latest strike. I’m thinking about something else — the silence. The muted response. The familiarity.Columbine once shattered us. Now children die in schools, here and abroad, and the reaction feels routine. This is about conditioning. About desensitization. About what it means when tragedy no longer stops us in our tracks. We listen for the bell. This is a public episode. Resistance Policy

I’ve published a new surveillance policy that calls on Colorado to prohibit license plate reader cameras on government property and ban the collection, use, or sharing of that data by state agencies. There is already bipartisan concern about these systems. I believe regulation is not enough. We need a clear constitutional line. The full policy paper is available on my campaign website. I hope you’ll read it and share it. This is a public episode. Resistance Brief 2.26.26

I have been thinking about America as a young nation still trying to grow deep roots. Between political corruption, what we are learning from the Epstein files, and the broader direction of the country, I find myself wondering whether we are strengthening those roots or weakening them. This is a personal reflection about responsibility, accountability, and why participation in primaries still matters. This is a public episode. Resistance Endorsement

In this video I give two clear examples of how the party establishment is trying to protect their turf by making life hard for challengers to the status quo.Karen Breslin in Colorado has been campaigning for a year while holding down her day jobs. The party establishment is making it hard for her to get visibility and raise money. If she emerges from the caucuses as the only challenger to Hickenlooper, she’ll take off.Kat Abughazaleh is hated by AIPAC and the party establishment in Illinois is falling in line by trying to reduce her visibility. These are the kinds of candidates that we need to succeed if we’re going to change the status quo. Resistance Brief 2.24.26

I used to treat the State of the Union as a civic responsibility. It was a moment to hear policy direction, to evaluate leadership, to judge whether Congress was doing its job.Today it often feels like spectacle layered on spectacle. Counter events, boycotts, viral moments, and endless commentary can distract from the simplest and most revealing thing: letting people watch for themselves. This piece is about how we got here, what changed, and why sometimes restraint is the most powerful political response.#Politics #Democracy #PoliticalCulture #StateOfTheUnion #CivicResponsibility #AmericanPolitics This is a public episode. Resistor Vic Ep35: Alex Kelloff

I sat down with Alex Kelloff, who is running for Congress in Colorado’s 3rd District, to talk about what representation is supposed to look like.We covered the district itself, rural economic realities, infrastructure investment, job creation, and something I think matters more than almost anything right now: Congress reclaiming its authority as a co-equal branch of government. For too long, Congress has surrendered its power to the executive branch. That has consequences for accountability, for budgets, for war powers, and for everyday Americans who deserve legislators who actually legislate. This conversation wasn’t about buzzwords. It was about responsibility. If you care about the role of Congress, the future of rural communities, and what serious governance looks like, I think you’ll find this one worth your time.
