During the 1600's, the early Christians in England celebrated a day to honor Mary, the mother of Christ. By a religious order the holiday was later expanded in its scope to include all mothers, and named as the Mothering Sunday. Celebrated on the 4th Sunday of Lent (the 40 day period leading up to Easter), "Mothering Sunday" honored the mothers of England.During this time many of the England's poor worked as servants for the wealthy. As most jobs were located far from their homes, the servants would live at the houses of their employers. On Mothering Sunday, the servants would have the day off and were encouraged to return home and spend the day with their mothers. A special cake, called the mothering cake, was often brought along to provide a festive touch.As Christianity spread throughout Europe the celebration changed to honor the "Mother Church" - the spiritual power that gave them life and protected them from harm. Over time the church festival blended with the Mothering Sunday celebration. People began honoring their mothers as well as the church. With the passage of time, the practice of this fantastic tradition ceased slowly. The English colonists settled in America discontinued the tradition of Mothering Sunday because of lack of time.

These defendants have not been granted their due process of the pre-trial granting of bail to await their trials and have been imprisoned now for close to two years. They have not been convicted of anything, nor did they harm anyone or any property, they just took a righteous stand against the abuses they suffered from the federal Bureau of Land Management Agency after two decades of seeking address and remedy at the county, state and federal levels to no avail. Cliven, Ammon and Ryan Bundy, as well as the other defendants in the Nevada trials are now detained at the private corporate owned Nevada Southern Detention Facility in Pahrump, Nevada. And we’re going to be looking at NBC’s attempt to win back their throne for must see TV with a new sitcom called Great News. And the first thing you’ll notice about this new show is the disturbing similarities to 30 Rock and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and you wouldn’t be wrong. With Great News though, we’re following a news producer, Katie, played by Briga Heelan who we find has an unnatural attachment to her mother who has her work life disrupted when her boss hires as an intern for the news station, her loving and overbearing mom played by the great Andrea Martin. And while the focus is news versus late night, the frustrated goofball at the center of a constantly careening television production has a familiar tone. From a genetic perspective, the similarities make some sense. Great News was created by Tracey Wigfield, who's written for 30 Rock and The Mindy Project, and its executive produced by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. That makes it Fey and Carlock's EP follow-up to Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, their follow-up to, of course, 30 Rock itself. And if Katie's mom is her Tracy Jordan — the unstoppable force that suddenly upends an already delicate work environment — then her Jenna Maroney is Portia played by Nicole Richie, as the brazenly needy and overconfident co-anchor who constantly frustrates Chuck, the puffed-up anchor played by John Michael Higgins at the center of the show. Admittedly, the entire cast doesn't map that neatly, but when you hear the music from Jeff Richmond and Giancarlo Vulcano — who also scored 30 Rock and Kimmy Schmidt — you'd be forgiven for thinking you're back in Liz Lemon World. And that's not a bad thing at all.Like 30 Rock, Great News is a joke-based comedy. That might seem self-evident, but it's not, really. As comedies have become more tonally experimental and often much darker, the visual goofs and quick hits that are part of the Fey/Carlock house style executed so well here by Wigfield can't be taken for granted. The fact that the equivalent of the Kathie Lee/Hoda pairing in Katie's world is called Morning Wined Up With Kelly and Mary Kelly is just silly fun; it's a bit that proudly disclaims thematic ambition. It's the kind of comedy with jokes in it.

Thanks in part to the brilliant casting and skillful acting that positions Genius to be one of the most richly detailed historical shows. Genius intends to be an anthology series about the lives of historical figures who fit the title, and the natural choice to kick off the series was the life of Albert Einstein. Now I know a number of you are going to roll your eyes and say “I don’t care for PBS programming”. The thing is, Genius does tell the story in a very dramatic and thought-provoking way, but the portrayal is so filled with heart and sincere moments that you’ll forget your hesitations.So this season is a dramatization of the life of Albert Einstein, and it’s more than just a wild-haired caricature which most of us have come to know and gives real insight into the young Einstein. Not only did h revolutionize physics, but he also lived through turbulent times including two world wars set against his own eventful personal life. And the show starts off with a bang as we see Einstein’s friend, the German foreign minister, Walter Rathenau, be shot and blown up in his car by a gang of Nazis.Then we cut to Einstein, played by Geoffrey Rush, in his study, making love to his secretary, Betty, against a blackboard covered with equations. Welcome Renegade Nation it’s me Naughty Nicole and it’s time for another Renegade Review. And I know it’s been awhile and I promise, I’m going to try and make up for lost time. Now as many of you know, I’m a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE fan of the Marvel universe, and I’m one of those rabid fans you find camping out for Comicon in Cosplay, excitedly waiting for the newest panels. In short, Marvel would have to do something pretty f****d up for me to hate one of their movies… like… Killing Loki off, yep, that would make me lose faith in the Marvel machine, or seriously bad casting – I’m looking at you Dr. Strange, but even with occasional mis-steps, I still love me some Marvel. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 – already got tickets, new Thor, can.. not… wait… Which brings me to today’s ditty. Logan. Now I’m one of the first ones to say I love the X-men. Old class, new class, Michael Fassbender’s a**, I’m there. But I’m a Marvel purist. I love the action, the campy one-liners, the bad guys that aren’t all that bad, good guys that aren’t that good and gimme, gimme, gimme those special effects. But Logan, well it’s a tired, worn out waste of time and the considerable talents that went into this movie. And it’s a great big middle finger to the fans because it’s so clear this is a throwaway picture aimed at milking the fan base out of their money. Color me unimpressed and a little bit pissed. So what’s the movie about? Well, it’s about… nothing, except marking the ninth incarnation as the tired, deflated mutant, Wolverine (a.k.a. Logan). And you franchise fans who hate spoilers, well; you get a middle finger too, because in this case Marvel comics’ readers know what’s going to happen before anything actually does happen. We knew eons ago, before filming commenced, that Logan is the one where the leading man dies. But in the 2 hours and 16 minutes it takes him to break his Edward Scissorhands claws, slash up the entire cast and bites that final bullet, the non-stop action is nothing more than a rehashing of business as usual.

Drudge tweet could mark end of era at Fox. Bill O'Reilly's fate may not have been written on a proverbial wall or in a legal document, but in a tweet from Matt Drudge.The reclusive Drudge sent a rare and ominous tweet about O'Reilly on Tuesday, writing that the embattled Fox News host "has had a tremendous run." "Very few in the business get to decide when and how things end," the conservative media personality tweeted. "Media is most brutal of all industries."The Drudge Report founder's tweet comes after a New York magazine report Tuesday that said the sons of Rupert Murdoch, the 21st Century Fox and Fox News executive chairman, are weighing pulling the highly rated host off the air in the wake of a sexual harassment scandal.CNN and The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday evening that O'Reilly and Fox are in exit talks. O'Reilly's camp denies via sources any such talks are occurring.If a Drudge tweet projecting the end of the career for an Fox News icon sounds familiar, it's because a similar scenario happened just nine months ago, shortly before the exit of former Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes.The New York Times called the July 19 tweet regarding Ailes from the reticent Drudge, who rarely states anything in public, "The tweet heard round the world.""Shortly after 4 p.m., Matt Drudge of The Drudge Report website, wrote on Twitter that Roger Ailes was leaving as chairman of Fox News with a $40 million financial package, after an investigation into allegations that he had sexually harassed Gretchen Carlson, a former Fox anchor," reported the Times. "Accompanying the tweet was what appeared to be a separation agreement between Mr. Ailes and the network, which he founded 20 years ago."The stunning news appeared on the Drudge Report, which attracts more than 1.4 billion page view per month, in big block letters under a siren image that signals a must-read story to the site's visitors.Drudge, without explanation, pulled the story after seemingly every media outlet ran with it, but it turned out to be true.Ailes did resign from Fox News the next day and did receive a $40 million financial package. Whether the separation agreement was meant to be seen by the public is another matter and was likely the reason the story was pulled from The Drudge Report.
