4 Keys to Hustle with Heart – Key 1: God Defines – Ep 113
As a Christian business coach to ambitious women of faith (and being one myself), I find they’re most often struggling in some way with overwhelm, overachievement or under fulfillment (and many times, all three). As we work through the Hustle with Heart process, I’ve found there are four steps to success in teaching them to redefine hustle and pursue success God’s way: Define: Discovering how God defines us, our purpose and ultimately, success. Direct: Discovering God’s direction for us in business. Discipline: Establishing the daily discipline for putting His definition and direction into action. Develop: Identifying the roadmap for our ongoing growth and development, and that of our businesses. And the foundation of it all is allowing God to be our CEO! Join me for this special series as I break down these four steps to success, starting with Step 1: Define! Because who better than He who created us to define: Who we are and whose we are. What success means for every one of us. Our path for making Kingdom impact. And that is worthy of raising a hallelujah for us ambitious Christian entrepreneurs! Earlier this month, we began this series on how we ambitious women of faith struggle in building our businesses. And we’ve found freedom in knowing: how God defines success how he directs us to pursue it how our obedience works best through daily discipline And we’re finishing strong with freedom from that successful-yet-unfulfilled wall we tend to hit on our journey. Episode 112: The Struggle is Real: Overachievement
All the overachievers throw your hands in the air! And wave ‘em like you just don’t care! Ok, ok, I’m not trying to be a rapper. Still, isn’t it just like us overachievers to show how busy we are and how much we’re doing by waving it around like a badge? I know...I am one! While God made us ambitious and gave us a business through which we use our gifts to serve the Kingdom, He definitely doesn’t direct us to be overachievers. From tying our identity to achievement to trying to prove something to the world, His direction and our obedience can free us from this struggle! Let’s see what the Bible says about it in this episode! Overwhelm - that catch-all word for the struggle of trying to carry too much, overflowing our to-do lists and the “if it is to be, it’s up to ME” mentality. Our surrender to Christ calls us to freedom
You’ve got your list of prospects, and you know you’ve got to reach out (because fortune is in the follow up, right?!), because you’re committed to doing business. So you’re about to dial, or text, or email, and the nervous fear kicks in. Maybe your stomach is churning, or you’re sweating, or your mind is racing about how they’ll respond. Drop a 🙋🏼♀️if you can relate. Early in my entrepreneurial journey, someone taught me that this fear arises from ego: we’re thinking too much about ourselves and not about how we can serve those on the list. Here’s great technique to calm the fear: picture that person on the list and think “how can I serve this person?” I swear it immediately stops the butterflies in my stomach! Go ahead, try it! So what does this have to do with freedom in pursuing success God’s way? Our surrender to Christ calls us to freedom because our eternal life is secure in His sacrifice on the cross. And that freedom is not to be kept to ourselves or used to further our agenda. As Paul says in this verse, we are to use this liberty to serve others in love. This liberty is a result of surrendering our agenda and our way, even in business. Our personal agenda and those worldly business practices (for me that means the driving, striving, and achievement chasing) no longer fit who we are in Him. He breaks every chain that holds us back from becoming what we’re created to be: His ambassadors and co-laborers, purposed to build up, encourage and serve others. Which is what we get to do in business! I hope that reminds you of your freedom today! Try out that exercise and DM me with how it works for you!

Episode 105 : The Call to Completion
We finish up the series this week with The Call to Completion God gave us our businesses as a vehicle to impact the Kingdom, and pursuing success God’s way means answering His call every day. This month on the podcast we’re talking about three C’s to which we’re called as God-centered entrepreneurs: Commitment, Consistency and Completion. Ever have that conversation with God that goes something like, “These desires I’m pursuing are the ones You gave me Lord; the ones You placed in my heart. I’ve made the commitment to You and Your way. I’m working consistently. So what the heck with timing? Am I just walking on a treadmill? Where’s the completion?” I hear ya, I’ve been there (recently). Episode: 104 The Call to consistency
Up this week: The Call to Consistency God gave us our businesses as a vehicle to impact the Kingdom, and pursuing success God’s way means answering His call every day. This month on the podcast we’re talking about three C’s to which we’re called as God-centered entrepreneurs: Commitment, Consistency and Completion. So you committed to “doing” business when you decided to start, and you’ve taken action. But do you ever feel like you start and stop, or gain momentum then it fizzles out? I’m raising my hand here because I live that struggle too. 🙋🏼♀️ Just like commitment, consistency is a daily decision. And just like God honors commitment, He honors consistency too. Let’s talk about it! erinharrigan.com/explore
Just like commitment, consistency is a daily decision
So you committed to “doing” business when you decided to start, and you’ve taken action. But do you ever feel like you start and stop, or gain momentum then it fizzles out? I’m raising my hand here because I live that struggle too. 🙋🏼♀️ Just like commitment, consistency is a daily decision. And just like God honors commitment, He honors consistency too. Consistency isn’t only about getting things done and being productive. Consistency is how we apply commitment. It’s the discipline of daily work. God honors consistency because consistency honors God. When we are consistent, we keep the commitment we’ve made to ourselves, and more importantly to God, to create and grow a productive business for His Kingdom. Our consistency keeps commitment to the people He has pre-appointed for us to serve. When we keep these commitments, our confidence is strengthened. Our business partners, the people in our network, and our clients become confident in our service and know they can trust us. As confidence in us grows, so do the introductions and connections, referrals, and new business opportunities. Don’t just take it from me: “The strength is in the repeat not the retreat.” @bishopjakes “Small disciplines done consistently lead to big results over time.” @craiggroeschel “Little step, little step, little step...look for the opportunity.” @keith.kochner “The impact of finishing is greater than the excitement of starting.” @stevenfurtick @elevationchurch God is calling us to consistency...will we answer His call or send it to voicemail? Drop a comment below! PS For more on this topic, catch the next episode of my podcast on June 21 (episode 104)! Be sure to subscribe to get the latest episodes too!
Episode 103: The Call to Commitment
First up: The Call to Commitment God gave us our businesses as a vehicle to impact the Kingdom, and pursuing success God’s way means answering His call every day. This month on the podcast we’re talking about three C’s to which we’re called as God-centered entrepreneurs: Commitment, Consistency and Completion. How committed are we to pursuing success God’s way...even when it doesn’t look the way we thought? Hmmm...good question, right?!

Episode 99: The power of Community: Accountability
In his Life Principles Bible, Dr. Charles Stanley’s Life Principle #28 is no Christian has ever been called to “go it alone” in his or her walk of faith. As God-centered entrepreneurs, our lives include our businesses, therefore, this principle applies to business too. Still, when I talk to Christian women in business, I find a gap exists in having a Godly community around us. We crave a community that provides what I call the fundamental ABCs (and a D) for building a God-centered business: Accountability - to keep us accountable to God’s assignment and the action He gives us to take. Belonging - to give us a place where we belong with others that understand how to do business His way. Connection - to provide a safe and encouraging space to share our challenges and celebrations. Discernment - to help us strengthen our discernment of God’s Word and wisdom for our business. This month we’re digging into the power of community to provide each of these fundamentals and what the Bible has to say about it, starting with...accountability! Reference verses: Galatians 6:1-5, 1 Thessalonians 5:11, Proverbs 27:17, 2 Corinthians 5:10, James 5:16 Wondering if this kind of community actually exists? IT DOES!! Episode 98: Double Minded Distraction
As you heard from the last two episodes in which I shared our personal financial crisis, living double minded got the best of me in the past, and despite all God has delivered us through, it’s still something I struggle with. 🎵 My double vision always seems to get the best of me 🎵 Got that song stuck in your head now, right? It’s one of my fave Foreigner songs and the album by the same name! But I digress… What I know is this: God, my family and business can’t get the best of me when I’m focused on the outcomes, or overly concerned about what will sell and what won’t. What helps me is shedding light on the subject, talking about it openly, and asking God to remind me of His provision and purpose for my business. Four steps for finding calm in chaos: Celebrate! This month we’ve been looking back at the anxiety and chaos of the last year and how we can find C.A.L.M. (Max Lucado’s formula) in the midst of it to shine Christ’s light in business to be effective Kingdom entrepreneurs. In case you missed the milestones of this journey, go listen to the previous episodes! Approaching Good Friday and Christ’s sacrifice for us. Does “celebration” feel like too strong a word for such a somber day? Does it seem like a strange word to describe what we’ve all experienced in the last year? Maybe. Ever have trouble asking for help? Help in your home, in your business, but most of all, help from God? Often we think as owners, creators, deliverers of service/products that we have to do it all. And our most powerful business partner - GOD - is waiting for us to ask for His help, guidance, direction, etc.! He’s ready to shoulder our burdens, to fight the battle, to banish our darkness with His light. All we have to do is ask. Go ask. God is waiting! Episode 93: Four steps for finding calm in chaos Leave it
Ever feel like a phrase is so overused that it’s hard to believe it could even be true? Or it’s used by people of some authority or “older” generations, and you think “Really? Is that all you’ve got?” Or it’s so cliche, you think it can’t truly apply to your situation? The phrase I’m thinking of here is “Let go, let God.” (I saw that eye roll LOL). What if the letting go is really about taking our hands off the proverbial steering wheel in our life and business to let Him take over? Funny that “let go, let God” sounds better as @carrieunderwood singing Jesus Take the Wheel, right?! (PS Carrie, love that song BTW!). Continuing our 4-part series on Max Lucado’s book, Anxious for Nothing and his C.A.L.M. formula, it’s time to leave your burdens at God’s feet (yep, let go and let God)! The timing is perfect for this part 2 as we look ahead to the new year and begin putting our dreams, goals and action plans on paper. Let’s see what guidance Paul has for us before we step into 2021! Episode 84: Living in Joyful Obedience, Part 1
Ever read a book or attend a training and “feel” transformed, but never really put the lessons into action to establish long term habits? Yep, me too! What’s missing in our transformation to pursue success God’s way is often the action we don’t take. This might sting a little but let’s just call it what it is: disobedience to His direction to follow through. How can we be more obedient in our businesses and do so with joy? What does this mean for our Hustle with Heart journey? Let’s find out together as we dig into Paul’s instructions from Romans 12 to understand “joyful obedience” and how our surrender to it is what enables us to bring our transformation in Christ and the Word to life as we do business! Reference verses: Romans 12:1-8 Enrollment for the ROOTED Group Coaching community is open through December 31! Click here to reserve your spot today! Episode 83: Small steps, big power
Ever feel like all your action is seemingly small steps, and you can't see where they're leading to "meaningful" outcomes? If we look at our steps through our human eyes, we can't see the power in them. But when we view them through the lens of pursuing success and outcome God's way, we begin to see that every small step is a ripple! Zechariah 4:10 tells us not to despise small beginnings, and as pastor Craig Groeschel says, "Small disciplines done consistently lead to big results over time." I think you're going to love what we unpack together! Here we are at the end of November already - the Monday after Thanksgiving, with 31 more days left to this year. And let's face it, 2020 has not lived up to the hype! Episode 81: The Four Agreements for Hustle with Heart, Part 4 (a 4-part series)
“It doesn’t matter if you win or lose...if you aced the test...if you (fill in the blank), as long as you did your best.” Anyone remembering the parent, coach or teacher that told you that? What we know beyond a shadow of a doubt is God loves us no matter what, and excellence honors God. So while this agreement may seem like a no brainer, and the enemy would love nothing more than to get us tangled up in doubt about whether we actually did our best, the bottom line is we get to decide what is truly our best. Our best work, our best thinking. I love the title of Oswald Chambers’s devotional book My Utmost for His Highest. It’s our utmost that God desires, and what honors Him. And yet He gives us grace for the times we aren’t our best. And we can definitely be thankful for that! This week we’re continuing the four-part series on The Four Agreements, applying the truth of scripture with a business lens, with agreement #4: Always do your best. Reference verses: Colossians 3:23-24 ESV Ecclesiastes 7:9 9:10 NLT Proverbs 16:3 ESV 2 Timothy 2:15 ESV 1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV And hey don't miss out on getting your exclusive holiday book package!! Episode 80: The Four Agreements for Hustle with Heart, Part 3 (a 4-part series)
You know what they say about assuming...I’ll let you finish that one in your head! How often do we make assumptions? Assumptions about what people think of us. About what people meant by what they said. About how someone else feels or how they operate in the world. About someone’s background or experience. “Opportunities” for assuming are all around us, but we have a choice not to make assumptions. And with practice, we can change that habit. This week we’re continuing the four-part series on The Four Agreements, applying the truth of scripture with a business lens, with agreement #3: Don’t make assumptions! Episode 79: The Four Agreements for Hustle with Heart, Part 2 (a 4-part series)
What do you take personally? Before you chastise yourself for this, give yourself some grace and realize that awareness of taking things personally is the first step to change! I am aware that I take people’s opinions personally and I have been known to get defensive at the slightest hint of someone questioning why I do something (just ask my husband). Who else is willing to fess up, take a deep breath and share with us? Episode 77: Faith in the Fourth Watch
Well, it’s official. Q4 2020 is upon us, and by now it’s worn out to say it, but I’m saying it: 2020 is not what we thought it would be when we made our plans January 1! Right now, you’re probably reading all the usual “finish strong” posts and mantras for your business, no matter what business you’re in. And all that’s true. Still, in all that chatter, there’s something we can’t overlook. Something that brings unsurpassed peace to us God-centered entrepreneurs (and can bring peace to those seeking it). And that is this truth: The Lord is unchanging. Join us to take a look at what we learn from the disciples' "fourth watch" experience with Jesus, and how this gives us faith for our fourth watch of 2020!
