Redefining Hustle Principle 2: Faith+Trust – Episode 168

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said “Faith is taking that first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” And, friend, we don’t need to see the whole staircase if we already know Who has written our story! Faith, then, is having that belief, while trust is taking the step and putting that belief in action. Faith is believing God is God and we are not. Trust is obeying his instructions, knowing that He will fulfill his promises. And trusting that however he fulfills those promises to us is far greater than our plan or our way could ever be. In today's episode we're talking about how faith and trust work in your business because God’s promises are never empty, and when you have faith in Him and move in trust to do the work He directs you to do, He will accomplish so much more than you could ever do on your own. Plus you'll hear how I first hit the "successful yet empty” wall and realized I needed a NEW definition of hustle...which took a revival of my faith and then the trust to take action. Episode 165: Grow Your Godfidence, Grow Your Business

After last week's episode about resilience, you may be thinking, "Ok, got it - stick to it! I've got this...I've got confidence!" And that's awesome...still, let's slow the roll for a minute. The world sees confidence as “a feeling of self assurance, arising from an appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities.” Hmmm…is it just me, or does that sound a bit like pride? Uh oh, did I ruffle some feathers? Listen, I'm not judging because there was a time that I believed that definition, too. But the truth is, it's really about checking ego at the door and realizing confidence isn't really about us. It's about trusting God's power in us...that we are equipped and empowered BY Him to carry out HIS assignment. After much prayer, study, trial and triumph, I arrived at a multi-layered definition that I call GODFIDENCE that calls for surrender > self-reliance, and goes far beyond what we could ever do on our own. It means: 💥 Knowing God is God and we are not. 💥 Trusting that His Word and His way is such that we are committed to follow how He defines and directs me. 💥 Allowing our trust in Him to override dependence on self. When you show up with GODFIDENCE, He will bless your obedience and commitment to leaning into how He defines and directs you. He will bless your discipline. And He will develop your business in ways that you would never have even considered or imagined! Resilience: God’s Counting On You – Episode 164

Do you ever feel like you just want to quit? Like it's just too much? It (whatever “it” is!) is not going the way you thought it would? Or maybe it would just be easier for you to do something else? Don't give up, friend, because God is counting you to be resilient in walking out His assignment! Resilience is another commitment we make when we accept His mission, so let's unpack this together so you can cling to His strength in your life and business. Here's an outline of where we're going: 3 Definitions of Resilience The power or mobility of a material to return to its original form or position aber being bent, compromised, or stretched; elasticity. The ability of a person to adjust or to recover readily from an illness. The ability of a system or organization to respond to or recover readily from a crisis or disruption. What does it mean to be resilient for us Christian business women? We give God the glory in the good, the storm and the aftermath of the storm. We practice surrender over self-reliance We’re flexible and allow Him to direct and develop us, even when we’re being stretched. It requires our commitment. It results in our development. And it enables us to be directed by the Lord. So stay the course, friend. And tune in next week as we continue to explore our commitments to God in our kingdom business. Do you have a hard time giving yourself permission to rest? Ever wonder how rest could actually move your business forward? This month on the podcast we're talking about the commitments necessary for building a Kingdom business, and the first one may leave you wondering "are you serious...commit to rest?" Yes, friend, commit to it, because God first committed to it and made it a commandment, a gift and a blessing. And it truly is the best-kept secret in your business! Armored: The Sword of the Spirit – Episode 162

You've probably read this somewhere: God is for you, not against you. (Romans 8:31, in case you need the reminder) You've probably heard it in a sermon or maybe from a friend when you were feeling like the dark clouds seem to follow you everywhere. But let me tell you again: GOD IS FOR YOU, NOT AGAINST YOU. You may be battling the enemy's schemes right this very minute, and feeling weary from the fight. Discouraged, distracted, doubtful. So today's episode is perfectly time to give you that last, small but mighty, piece of armor: the sword of the Spirit. The word for sword used in Ephesians 6:17 actually means dagger - a weapon used for close combat. You know, when the enemy is all up in your business and you’re working through (what feels like) hand-to-hand combat. It's the one tool that is used for both offense and defense. Putting on the Armor of God will allow us to do that in any and every situation we may face. It will allow us to reflect God’s love to all those we meet. It empowers us to have that calm and peace in the midst of chaos. It’s not about asking God to make the battle stop - it’s about standing in the victory of Jesus, and applying that to your business and to your life. It’s about making Him our FOCUS: Focus On Christ Until Steady Let me help you put on the last piece of armor today - the sword of the spirit! Armored: The Helmet of Salvation – Episode 161

When you were a kid, did you ever hear your mom or grandma or some other motherly figure in your life tell you not to leave the house without a hat in the winter? And do you remember rolling your eyes 🙄? Because it might mess up your carefully coiffed hair, or you'd look way less cool on that skateboard or bike, or it might get in the way of making that snowman. Or any other reason why you didn't want to wear it, right?! The thing is, they knew protecting your head was important. To help you stay warm, or protect you if you fell, or protect your ability to keep your eye on the ball (ok I made that one up). The same is true with the helmet of salvation as we put on the armor of God. In Roman times, this was the last part of armor that a soldier put on: because if his head was wounded, he couldn’t think. For us it means protecting our ability to walk with the mind of Christ and be under God’s control in building our businesses. And that means we are able to show up in our business with intention and clarity, and pursue this all with discipline (the 3rd of our 4 Keys). Most importantly, that helmet seals in our hope that, no matter what happens, we have His salvation! Even the fiery darts of the enemy can't stop that! Let me help you put on the next piece of armor today - the helmet of salvation! Enjoy today's episode and check out all the resources in the links below! Armored: The Shield of Faith – Episode 160

By the time you hear this episode, Brian and I will just be getting up on our last full day of our mission trip with Honduras Compassion Partners (@honduras.cp), the mission organization associated with our church here in Southern Maryland. It's my second trip in 18 months, and Brian's first, and right now, we're a combination of tired, heartbroken, encouraged and inspired: Tired: physically and mentally, as part of our service on this trip was building a house for a family, in addition to installing water filters and playing with the children of La Paz (the town where we serve). Heartbroken: over the physical poverty we see everywhere Yet encouraged and inspired: Despite their poverty, the people of La Paz are filled with such hope and love for Jesus. I'd even say OVERFLOWING in His light and love. They inspire us to walk more closely with Him, and it encourages us to give more of our time, talent and treasure to care for His people. It's been a test to the shield of faith that we carry as part of the armor of God, for sure, and that's exactly what we're covering on today's podcast episode. Plus I've got a NEW tool for you (that's so new I didn't even talk about it on the episode!) - grab it in the links below. Armored The Shoes of Peace – Episode 159

I'm not a shoe girl. But, I have proof that my husband IS a shoe guy - check it out on my Instagram (but seriously, how many pairs of athletic shoes do you need?) My motto is definitely "comfort over fashion," and I'm a total flip flop girl. So, you’re wondering, “what the HECK does this have to do with my business, Erin?” Well, according to Paul in Ephesians 6, having our feet “shod” with the right shoes is an integral part of the armor of God. “…and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” (Ephesians 6:15). Ready to walk forward and take action (putting feet to faith), and ready to pivot however the Lord calls you. Now you may be thinking...wait, shoes after belt and breastplate? Huh? Yes, my friend, Paul says shoes are next, so that's where we're going as we suit up to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. Every piece is important to resist the enemy in the time of evil, so that even after the battle you will still be standing firm. And to stand firm, you've got have both protection and grip to move quickly when necessary (because things move fast in your business - one day you're up, the next you're down, and the enemy wants you unsteady from all that movement). Standing firm requires the right shoes: having your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. Let me help you get your armor in order - enjoy today's episode and check out all the resources in the links below! Armored: The Belt of Truth – Episode 158

So there you are, moving and grooving in your business, everything is in the flow, and you’re like “Yasss Jesus, all glory, hallelujah! Look at what You’re doing with my obedience!” And the next day…BAM! You’re face down on the Berber carpet (does anyone even have that anymore?), crying out “WHYYY Lord? Why is this taking so long? Why so many no’s? Why haven’t more people bought my services (or products)?” And 💥BOOM💥 there’s a fiery dart from the enemy. And 💥WHAM💥 there’s another one! Have you been there? I know I have (like last week). And that’s why I believe God put this month’s podcast series on my heart earlier this year, yet waited in His direction for me to share now…because I’m walking this journey right beside you, friend! ARMORED: Putting on God’s armor for business. Yep, that's right: unpacking Ephesians 6:10-18. In each episode this month, we're talking about another piece of armor, building our full body of armor one piece at a time, if you will. Really excited to share this with you! God’s Business Strategy: He Perfects – Episode 157

In today's episode, we finish up our convo on God's Business Strategy this week with this truth: He perfects us. As Dr. Charles Stanley says, "It is God working in us - God perfecting us - that allows us to do anything worthwhile for the Kingdom." God doesn’t change us in a blink of an eye - He perfects us over time. And that, my friends is what development is all about (hint: Develop is the 4th Key to Redefine Hustle - get your copy at https://erinharrigan.com/4Keys) He can take our small steps, taken in obedience and trust, and magnify them exponentially! In this crazy world of feeling ill-equipped, confused, and unqualified in your business…you are not alone. Even after a time of struggle, in 1 Peter, we see that God promises that He will perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle us. It will take endurance, being proactive in our faith, and seeking and obeying Him. He will accomplish His purpose in us as we allow Him to position us, prepare us, provide for us, and, ultimately, perfect us. I hope you will take the lessons of this past month, as you have been uncovering God’s plan for your business, and pray over them, looking for ways to incorporate them into your life and business strategy. Remember to reach out if you need any help or support in that area. In the meantime, I’ll be praying for you as you explore how to hustle with heart in your Kingdom business. God’s Business Strategy: He Provides – Episode 156

Do you ever find yourself prescribing how you want God to provide in your business? As in, "here are my goals and plans, Lord, and here are the outcomes I want. So, now could you just bless them?" (it's ok...I've done it too - did you watch the reel?) As we continue discussing God’s business strategy for us, centering on the “Four P’s” - how He positions us, prepares us, provides for us, and perfects us - this week we’ll be uncovering how God provides for us in our business. Let me be clear: I'm NOT talking about any law of attraction or prosperity Gospel! I'm talking about the truth that the Lord always provides for His people - though most often it doesn't look anything like we want it to look! Instead, it's always HIS best for us. Raw Thoughts: Reflecting Jesus Today – Bonus Episode

This episode wasn't on my planning sheet or even on my radar. Proverbs 19:21 says: You can make many plans, but the LORD’s purpose will prevail. Recent conversations with Christian business women and one of my BFFs were God's ways of tapping me on the shoulder to say "hey, this is a topic my daughters need for their Kingdom businesses right now. So get to recording...I'm the one in charge of the content, remember?" How could I say no to that command? So here it is...amid the world's noise over the recent SCOTUS ruling (noise from BOTH sides in what feels like Dolby stereo), here are my raw thoughts - backed up by Biblical truth - on: 👉🏻 how we're actually called to reflect Him (which does not give us free license to BE Him) 👉🏻 how we can be better at emulating Jesus today 👉🏻 guidance on how to show up in your business while you're processing conflicting emotions, feeling distracted, and trying to discern God's instructions for how you show up Download the 4 Keys at https://erinharrigan.com/4Keys Scripture references in this episode: These verses were part of the message in today’s episode. 3-D Drifting: Doubt – Episode 153

Where are my "One Word" fans out there? (link below for the book) For the past few years, I’ve chosen my one word, and it never ceases to amaze me how He uses that word throughout the year, bringing it to fruition! Time and again, it plays out in my life and my business in ways that I never could have seen or planned. My word this year is Trust. And for what seems like the whole month of June, it's been tested (mostly because I've been drifting in doubt in some areas). It's especially significant for today's episode as we wrap up the series on drifting with the last of the “3D’s”: Doubt (yes with a capital D). Because, ultimately, doubt is failing to put our trust in the Lord; to trust Him with our business. It is failing to believe that He will provide for you as and where He leads me; that He has equipped and qualified you with gifts to accomplish His purpose and the mission He’s given you. Remember that we have the shield of faith (Ephesians 6:16) that can protect us against the fiery arrows (the 3 D’s) and help us grow a Kingdom business. Join me in wrapping up this series, and making time to ask yourself these questions: Am I feeling distracted right now? Do I feel discontented? And why? Am I feeling doubtful? 3-D Drifting: Discontentment – Episode 152

As I’m recording today’s episode, I can hear the wind raging outside. It makes me feel a little unmoored…a little untethered. And it makes me think of today’s concept: discontentment. It’s a tool that Satan uses against us time and time again. According to Napoleon Hill, drifting is “the process through which the devil controls the souls of mankind.” He accomplishes this through “lack of purpose, confusing ideas, excess, and fear.” Today we're looking at Hosea and his ever-discontented wife, Gomer. If that sounds like a strange place to go for applying Biblical truth to your business, consider this: Gomer was never satisfied. Although Hosea lovingly provided for her, and faithfully served her, it was never enough. She sought out others who she thought would fulfill her and satisfy her needs her way. But, friends, how often do we do that? It's what happens to us when we're living in the “castle of pride” described in the Spiritual Strongholds blog post I've referenced in this series. Gomer's pride corrupted her heart and led her away from the Lord’s best for her life. And the same is true for us when we drift in discontentment. Ouch, right? Listen in as we go deep on discontentment! And be sure to download your 4 Keys guide too! Scripture references in this episode: These verses were part of the message in today’s episode. Follow along as you listen, and/or use them for your own continued study. 3-D Drifting: Distraction – Episode 151

In his book “Outwitting the Devil,” Napoleon Hill interviews Satan and discovers how the enemy distracts the believer, namely, through encouraging us to drift. He defines it as “the process through which the devil controls the souls of mankind.” The enemy accomplishes this through muddying up our sense of purpose, confusing us, giving us an unhealthy desire for excess, and - last but certainly not least - instilling fear. This week we're unpacking the first D of 3-D drifting: Distraction. Distraction is defined as “drawing away or diverting, as the mind or attention”; or “extreme agitation of the mind or emotions.” We’re pulled away from focus; pulled away from the things God calls us to do. But we can be pulled away by good things, too! Those “shiny objects” that feed our self-reliance, cause us to covet and compare, get us drifting off the path… Concentrating on things that have happened in the past can also cause us to drift (see the story of Lott in Genesis 19), as can feeling regret or sorrow about leaving things behind. The only cure is FOCUS: Focus on Christ until steady! How do we practically work through this concept? Get out your journal, grab my Four Keys download (https://erinharrigan.com/4Keys), and ask God, these questions: Define - “God, how are you defining me? What is my assignment? What does success need to look like for me?” Direct - “What’s the next step I should take? Who would you have me serve?” Discipline - “What habits and processes should I incorporate into my business?” Develop - As you overcome and work through the above concepts, take note of how your business - and your life - develops! Download your copy at Now don't let distraction stop you for being still and listening for His answers! PS if drifting has you stuck and you're ready to grow through it, let's chat about how I can help! The Perils of Drifting – Episode 150

WOOHOOO!!! Celebrating episode 150 today!! I had no idea when I started sharing God's message of redefining hustle and pursuing success God's way that the show would reach this many episodes, much less win any awards (like @sparkmedia.ventures 2022 Best Business Podcast or @thepodcastmag 2022 Top 50 Moms in Podcasting). Yet here we are, and I can't wait to see what God does next. And here's what's funny. Even as I have clarity that THIS is exactly where God has positioned me, that He's positioned this podcast exactly where He planned, and it's grown for His glory, I STILL experience the perils of drifting in distraction, discontentment and doubt. Can you relate? In his book “Outwitting the Devil,” Napoleon Hill interviews Satan and discovers how the enemy distracts the believer, namely, through encouraging us to drift. He defines it as “the process through which the devil controls the souls of mankind.” The enemy accomplishes this through muddying up our sense of purpose, confusing us, giving us an unhealthy desire for excess, and - last but certainly not least - instilling fear. This month we're talking about the perils of drifting, how to recognize it and get through it, using the "Four Keys to Redefine Hustle.” Download your copy at https://erinharrigan.com/4Keys PS if drifting has you stuck and you're ready to grow through it, let's chat about how I can help! Chaos vs. Clarity: The Fog We Face – Episode 149

Ever noticed that when you’ve handed over your business reins to the Lord, established that He is your CEO, and committed to serving Him…that’s when the fog sets in. And sometimes - it’s like Golden Gate Bridge level fog! Listen, friend. The enemy knows how powerful it is to give our lives to the Lord. And as he seeks to steal, kill and destroy, in your business it looks like: Coveting Distractions Discontentment Doubt The clarity of knowing that the Lord is the light to your path will hold you steady can get you through the fog safely! The Code of Clarity: Nothing Is Wasted – Episode 148

Did you ever have one of those days, or one of those seasons, where nothing seemed to go right? The pieces of the puzzle just didn’t seem to fit. You weren’t attracting the clients you thought you were supposed to serve. Business was just not going well… Well, I’d like to introduce to you “the Code of Clarity.” By “Code,” I refer to something that needs to be deciphered. Oftentimes, we can’t interpret this by ourselves; it requires a coach or mentor to give us a unique perspective. But today we’re going to crack the code to discover how God redeems everything! Journal Prompts for this lesson: 1 - What do I need to release in order to come boldly to You? 2 - Am I willing to let His will be done, even if it means it doesn’t look the way I want? 3 - Lord, show me a glimpse of how you can redeem this. Scripture references in this episode: These verses were part of the message in today’s episode. Follow along as you listen, and/or use them for your own continued study. The Claim of Clarity: How Are You Gifted – Episode 147

Please be patient with the gaps in audio...wifi was giving me a fit so I discovered some audio issues! You might be asking: “What does clarity look like in my business? It’s a great idea, but how do I put it into play?” I’m so glad you asked! When we were saved, God showed up in our lives with precise gifts to make Kingdom impact, and we get to claim those gifts for our business too! Once you know about your gifts, you can apply them to your mission in the marketplace, and you can stake your claim with CLARITY to use them as you walk out His assignment. And, best of all, you’ll be doing it with a Kingdom mindset! Let's go! Journal prompts for working through this concept: 1 - Lord, who do You say I am? 2 - What gifts have you given me? 3 - How do I administer those gifts in my business…in volunteering…in my relationships? Most importantly, however, after you ask these questions, sit in silent expectation of an answer! The Cause for Clarity: What Will You Stand For – Episode 146

Please be patient with the gaps in audio...wifi was giving me a fit so I discovered some audio issues! "If you stand for nothing, Burr, what’ll you fall for?" Alexander Hamilton, as in Hamilton the musical. This isn't about politics, though I do love a good political musical. It's about clarity. Just like Hamilton's question to Burr. As in: are you clear, Mr. Burr (sir), about what you stand for? What is your cause for clarity? Same is true for your business. Are you clear what you stand for? I mean are you clear about your message and whom you serve? That clarity is all about knowing on Whom your foundation is built. What message He's given you to share and with whom. And your obedience to following His directions. … Clarity brings everything into focus. And with that focus, you can walk out God’s assignment on steady ground. There is a cause for clarity, and your Kingdom impact depends on it. … Like Peter getting distracted walking on the water and starting to sink. Then he looked back at Jesus, regained focus and became steady again. Focus On Christ Until Steady Scripture references in this episode: These verses were part of the message in today’s episode. Follow along as you listen, and/or use them for your own continued study. Exodus 20:3 John 15:4-5 Mark 8:36 Ephesians 2:10 Journal Prompts: Here are some journal prompts to help you build the focus that brings clarity - 1 - Lord, how are you asking me to show up today? 2 - What is the message that You’ve given me? 3 - Lord, how do I share it, and whom do I serve? Fulfillment: No One Hit Wonder – Episode 144

Have you ever wandered from one topic to another, like your synapses are firing and taking you down one tunnel to another? And then you wonder how the heck did I even get on this topic? That was me as I prepared today's episode, tying the bow on the fulfillment series. Here's how it went: Every day we get to decide where we're seeking fulfillment, and if we discover we're chasing the empty things of the world, we can repent from that and allow God to remind us (again) that fulfillment is found only in Him. That made me think... Fulfillment is not a one hit wonder. That made me think about music one hit wonders, and I spent time trying to remember some favorite songs. That let me to the @google search for top one hit wonders of the 80's (because I love the all things 80's), which led me to @vh1 100 Greatest One Hit Wonders of the '80s! You can find a link to the list below. So now that we're down the rabbit trail together...let's wrap up this series on fulfillment by understanding we get to accept God as our portion every single day! Where Discipline Meets Fulfillment – Episode 143

We're all prone to wander, even with our disciplined schedules. And sometimes the intention behind our discipline is actually the search for fulfillment (ouch). We're prone to it. God knows it. The same was true of the Israelites, hence Solomon's prayer in 1 Kings 8:58: The Lord our God be with us, as he was with our fathers. May he not leave us or forsake us, that he may incline our hearts to him, to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments, his statutes, and his rules, which he commanded our fathers. The part that gets me is: "Walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments, his statutes and his rules." Knowing He directs me gives freedom from self-reliance, and that's a relief! In other words, our discipline isn't supposed to be about seeking or earning fulfillment. It's about glorifying Him. Because our fulfillment comes from honoring the Lord, not from our productivity, achievements or others' approval. So where does our discipline intersect with seeking fulfillment? Tune into today's episode and we'll unpack it together! Scripture references: These verses were part of the message in today’s episode. Follow along as you listen, and/or use them for your own continued study. 1 Kings 8:58 Psalm 119:36-37 Galatians 1:10 Galatians 5:22-23 John 19:30 Prayer of Salvation: if are ready to give your life to Jesus, here is a simple prayer of salvation, and I would love to hear from you after you pray so I can pray over you as well! Dear Lord, I admit that I am a sinner. I have done many things that don’t please you. I have lived my life for myself only. I am sorry, and I repent. I ask you to forgive me. I believe that you died on the cross for me, to save me. You did what I could not do for myself. I come to you now and ask you to take control of my life; I give it to you. From this day forward, help me to live every day for you and in a way that pleases you. I love you, Lord, and I thank you that I will spend all eternity with you. Amen. Wrong Exit to Fulfillment – Episode 142

“Once I have THIS, I’ll be satisfied.” Ever looked around at your business and thought “This is good, but it will be so much better when THIS happens!” Because more or better or a different direction is what gets us closer to fulfillment, right? Not by the Kingdom definition. Sometimes we’re rejoicing for God’s provision and searching for fulfillment in the achievements of business at the same time, and that’s like trying to drive in two different directions. See, God only meant for the achievements and things to be milestones along the journey, not exit ramps to some land of ultimate fulfillment. The Bible says we can’t serve two masters…and that’s why we need His direction to point us to where real fulfillment is found: in Him! As we continue talking about fulfillment on the podcast this week, let us remember that our Great Positioning Shepherd (GPS, remember?) is our best navigator as we build a thriving business for His glory. And it's only in His direction that we find our way to His fulfillment! Scripture references: These verses were part of the message in today’s episode. Frustrated and Unfulfilled – Episode 141

Fulfillment [ fool-fil-muhnt ] the act or state of fulfilling: to witness the fulfillment of a dream; to achieve fulfillment of one's hopes. the state or quality of being fulfilled; completion; realization: "Have it all! Go for more! Never be satisfied!" These are some of the things that the world insists we do to be successful. As an ambitious Christian business women, there is one key question to ask yourself as you pursue success and seek fulfillment: Do you know who you are and Whose you are? Without this understanding, we are subject to being swayed by the shiny, distracting and temporal things of the world to find our fulfillment. But with it, and reminding ourselves of it daily, we know our fulfillment is found solely in the Lord. It challenges us to move from looking to the next goal, the next promotion, the next client for fulfillment, and instead anchor our identity and fulfillment in Him. Yes, build your business, set your goals, execute your strategies, and celebrate your success. AND leave fulfillment to the Lord...because only He can meet that need. Consistency in Action: Daily Discipline – Episode 139

Got a question for you: Are you willing to take consistent action even when it seems mundane? Even when it seems the seeds you plant aren't sprouting? Your answer may be a resounding "YES! But Erin, what exactly does consistency in action" look like?" Listen in as we answer that question on today's episode! And here's a hint: it's probably NOT what you think! Look at it this way: WWJD as a business owner taking action? (actually, maybe this should read "what DID Jesus do") He would (and did) put His Father's direction into action with daily discipline like: ✅ Bookending His day with time with the Lord ✅ Praying before every interaction ✅ Asking for His Father's direction for setting priorities so that His "to-do list" was mission-focused And the same goes for us. I love this quote from @stevenfurtick: “The impact of finishing is greater than the excitement of starting.” (I love it so much, I put it in my book!) Remember this as you embrace the discipline of being consistent. Because your consistency matters: It shows that you are trustworthy. It influences your customers and clients to do continued business with you and to refer you to their friends. It shows that you are enduring and unchanging in the work that you do. Our Consistency GPS: the Great Positioning Shepherd – Episode 138

Raise your hand if you remember using an actual printed map (which once unfolded could never go back to it's original size)! Today that GPS is at our fingertips on our phone for ultra convenience, and when we go off track, it automatically redirects us. Except, of course, when we lose our cell service and everything goes fuzzy. Consistency in our business is like that too. There you are, rolling right along, doing the do, and your "connection" to the Eternal GPS (the Great Positioning Shepherd, a.k.a. Jesus) gets fuzzy. Developing Our Commitment: Fear to Focus – Episode 136

"You always have two choices: your commitment vs. your fear." Sammy Davis Jr. Why are we so afraid of commitment? I mean, not ALL of us are I guess. But despite knowing that commitment generally means doing what we said we would do long after the excitement of starting it fades. And biblically means to trust God in any and all circumstances, and do what He's give us to do (even when it doesn't look the way we planned), I think our fear is the surrender of our way for His, right?! What I mean is, embracing God's direction for our business and even putting it into discipline means letting Him lead. And with our tight grip of supposed control, we're a little afraid to let Him lead because... ➡️ what if it slows you down? ➡️ what if the results aren't what we planned - like at all? ➡️ what if he redirects you? The Direction (Command) of Commitment – Episode 134

Does not follow directions. Anyone remember a teacher writing that on a report card? (or maybe you've seen it on your child's?) If you're a rule follower like me (OCD much?), this may not be an issue for you. Until...God gives you direction and you're thinking, "um, are you SURE it's me you meant for that job?" It's good to know we're not alone in that (how about Moses standing in front of that burning bush giving excuse after excuse as an example - Exodus 3), right? And last week we were reminded of how God is sooooo committed to us and His word is iron clad. On today's podcast episode we're unpacking God's direction (read: command) to commitment - as in the commitment to listen and obey commanded by Moses (yep same guy from the burning bush) in Deuteronomy 6 (visit The Bible Project for the lesson on the Shema that I mention in the episode). Because commitment honors Him, and it's the LEAST we can do for all He is and does for us! Join me for the conversation as we employ the 4 Keys - Define, Direct, Discipline and Develop - to committing our work to the Lord (and download your own copy of the 4 Keys guide at https://erinharrigan.com/4Keys ). Defining Commitment – Episode 133

As entrepreneurs, we've all heard the saying: "Commitment is doing what you said you would, long after the mood you said it in has left." And we'd all like to think that we're committed to God's assignment for our business, knowing it is one vehicle for administering the gifts and talents He's given us (as well as a vehicle for impacting the Kingdom). But...what about when things don't go the way we planned or how we wanted? Or when the outcomes seem to be taking too long or look different than we planned? Ever found yourself wavering on your commitment at those times? It's ok to admit it...actually let me start: YES! Yes I have found myself there! Now you can take a deep breath and admit it too...see, you're not alone, friend! So you may be wondering: ➡️ How do we define commitment as Christian business women? ➡️ How does God direct (ahem, command) us to be committed in our businesses? ➡️ How do we put our commitment into discipline? ➡️ How does keeping our commitments develop us and grow our businesses? I'm so glad you asked, because that's where we're going this month on The Hustle with H.E.A.R.T. Podcast, and the 2nd month of the year is the perfect time to renew our commitments to Him (because we know He is ALWAYS committed to us)! According to Christian Today, we can define commitment with a few key points: 💥It's about trusting in God It requires us to love It means making sacrifices (think surrender!). 💥Doing certain things on a regular basis (stay tuned for more on consistency in March). 💥It involves giving everything we have. Join me for the conversation as we employ the 4 Keys - Define, Direct, Discipline and Develop - to committing our work to the Lord (and download your own copy of the 4 Keys guide at erinharrigan.com/4Keys). D is for Discernment – Episode 132

Based on the truth that no Christian has ever been called to “go it alone” in his or her walk of faith (including business), we finish up our series on the power of community to provide us the fundamental ABCs (and a D) we crave in building a God-centered business, and this week we're talking about Discernment. Do you have prayer warriors in your life? You know, the ones whose prayers seem so powerful and to whom you turn for that next level discernment? 🙏🏻 What about for your business? 🤔 Earlier this month I asked you a question: Who's in your corner? Who's part of the community that keeps you accountable, lifts you up, encourages you? 🙌 Because we all need community, and one benefit of it is surrounding ourselves with the Godly discernment of others walking this Hustle with Heart journey alongside us. Because that helps us strengthen our discernment of God’s Word and wisdom for our business. Listen in to today's episode as we wrap up the Community series! 🎧 PS Such a community exists in the ROOTED Group Coaching Membership - and I invite you to join us! According to @wordhippo, it is a verb meaning: 👉🏻A feeling of understanding and ease of communication between two or more people. 👉🏻A kinship relationship between people. Finding a safe and encouraging space to share our challenges and celebrations sounds amazing, right? 💜 Still, ever feel like you belong to a "tribe" but the connection isn't quite there? The ABCDs of Community – Episode 128

In his Life Principles Bible, Dr. Charles Stanley’s Life Principle #28 is no Christian has ever been called to “go it alone” in his or her walk of faith. As God-centered entrepreneurs, our lives include our businesses, therefore, this principle applies to business too. Still, when I talk to Christian women in business, I find a gap exists in having a Godly community around us. We crave a community that provides what I call the fundamental ABCs (and a D) for building a God-centered business: Accountability - to keep us accountable to God’s assignment and the action He gives us to take. Belonging - to give us a place where we belong with others that understand how to do business His way. Connection - to provide a safe and encouraging space to share our challenges and celebrations. Discernment - to help us strengthen our discernment of God’s Word and wisdom for our business. This month we’re digging into the power of community to provide each of these fundamentals and what the Bible has to say about it. So if you've been feeling alone in your business, rest assured that is not God's plan for you! PS It's not too late to plan your first 90 days of 2022! Serenity Series: The Joy of Decluttering

The Joy of Decluttering. The task of decluttering has been elevated to an art form...even a way of meditating on what brings you joy. What if our minds and our lives were a closet we needed to clean out to walk in God's will for our business, to stop trying to wear what doesn't fit us, and instead put on Jesus (and His strength and power) daily in our pursuit of success God's way? Imagine the freedom and joy that would bring. Imagine the SERENITY! Let's get to decluttering for His glory! Need help decluttering your mind as you plan ahead for 2022? Here's a great exercise that will help: the brain dump (not my original idea, so kudos to whomever thought of this first!). Set a timer for 5 minutes and write down everything that's cluttering your brain right now - all the to-do's, the follow ups, the general STUFF. When the timer is done, you're done. Now take 3 deep breaths, and set the timer for another 5 minutes to sort the list by business, family, etc. Now you'll have organized the information, and when the timer is done, you're done. Take 3 deep breaths, and set the timer one more time for 5 minutes, and use the Under Control tool to determine what's really in your control vs. God's. Then turn the paper over and break down your list further to what's really yours vs. other people's! Get the tool at erinharrigan.com/undercontrol. Serenity Series: Our businesses are the gift from God

As Christian business women, we know our businesses are the gift from God, to be the vehicle by which we walk out our Kingdom purpose. Namely: love people as Jesus loved us and make disciples. It's through our businesses that we reach people we may never have otherwise met, and the results of our efforts are always to glorify God. Still, how often do we associate God's blessings with the "package" they came in? How often do we look back at how He's blessed us and expect blessings to only come from that same place or in that same way? Are we using this Hustle with Heart journey to live expectantly of His new ways of blessing us? And are we truly surrendered to allow for His new blessings in new packages? Deep questions I hope keep you on your toes like they've done for me this week - because when we answer YES to being disciplined for Him, we unlock SERENITY!
