E3 2012 is officially underway! Whether you liked or disliked today’s Nintendo Press Conference, there’s no doubt that there was a lot of news to take in. Mario and the gang are back on the courts in Mario Tennis Open, and we’ve got our full impressions of the 3DS game in today’s episode of the Random Nintendo Podcast! That’s just the tip of the iceberg, though: with E3 2012 mere days away, we dive in to all the latest game announcements, including Injustice: Gods Among Us for Wii U and Castlevania for 3DS, along with the final round of pre-E3 Wii U rumors. There are rumors and then there are crazy rumors. The idea of a Metroid/Star Fox crossover game falls into the latter category. It’s not often that Nintendo combines franchises, so an intergalactic mashup of this nature deserves special attention. Nintendo is not very well known for its online support. After all, this is the company that brought us Friend Codes and the tiny 40 MB file size restrictions for WiiWare. But in what appears to be a complete 180 for Nintendo, it will begin to offer the majority of its games as digital downloads. Our first double-digit episode of the Random Nintendo Podcast is all about the comebacks. It’s been a rather strange two weeks in the world of Nintendo. First, the Wii U shows up at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), but as nothing more than rehash of what we saw at last year’s E3. Then, Nintendo announces a stand for the 3DS, which allows you to play Kid Icarus: Uprising without worrying about how to hold the system (was that an issue in the first place?).
