COW COUNTRY NEWS The SEC Seeks To Halt A $191 Million Cattle Ponzi Scheme According DTN Progressive Farmer and Meating Place, The Securities and Exchange Commission has frozen the assets of a Texas-based cattle marketing company, alleging the company fraudulently sold securities in "cattle contracts" as a $191 million Ponzi scheme that would "soon implode." The company, Agridime LLC out of Fort Worth, Texas, is now under a court-ordered receivership under the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas with Agridime's assets frozen after the SEC obtained a temporary restraining order against Agridime and its owners. Agridime has raised $191 million since 2021 from more than 2,100 investors in at least 15 states, the SEC stated. The SEC stated Agridime, however, had less than $1.5 million in cash as of Sept. 30, and insufficient operating revenues. The SEC stated, "It appears that Agridime's Ponzi scheme will soon implode unless it continues to raise money from new investor-victims." Agridime sells investment contracts related to the buying and selling of cattle, dubbed as "cattle contracts." The SEC complaint stated Agridime promised investors

S1 Ep 7Paraguay Beef & Raven Angus
EPISODE 7 DETAILS OUR TOP NEWS STORIES Not a bad day in South Dakota. Raven Angus held their annual Customer Appreciation and Bred Heifer sale at the ranch just east of Colome, SD. The sale offering consisted of a select group of registered bred heifers and a large group of commercial heifers. The commercial heifers either originated from the Raven Angus cowherd or had been purchased from top producers in the area, many which have utilized Raven Angus genetics. All were either AI bred to Raven Angus sired or pasture bred to Raven Angus bulls. 10 Registered Angus Bred Heifers averaged $5,575, 617 Commercial Angus Heifers averaged $2,976 and 3 Ranch Horses averaged $11,833. According to the Tri-State Livestock News, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig and seven other Secretaries, Commissioners, and Directors of Agriculture from Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Missouri, Ohio, Nebraska, and Wyoming sent a letter today to United States Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack raising concerns about a new rule allowing for the importation of beef from Paraguay. The group of agriculture officials is asking the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) to pause the implementation of the Importation of Fresh Beef from Paraguay final rule. Given that the South American country has a history of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD), and that the severe and highly transmissible disease could pose a significant threat to our nation’s critical livestock sector as well as the beef production system in the United States, the state leaders are asking for a more current and reliable risk assessment to be completed. The best remedy is to be proactive versus reactive, and we have the solution for you. It is Farmatan from Imogene Ingredients! But here is the kicker. It is not an overnight magic cure all. We need to get this into the cows diet 60 to 90 days prior to calving to get maximum results. It is simple and easy. Just ask your feed supplier for Farmatan. You can feed in a lick tub form, as a liquid, in a TMR ration, and/or free choice. We go through the details and success stories with Paul Mitchell with Imogene Ingredients, who brings us Farmatan. Bec shares news from Capitol Hill, beef import information from Paraguay, and the WASDE Report for the 2024 forecast. But that’s not all. We have market updates, sale barn reports and lots more, even some Christmas gift ideas from the crew from Medora Boot and Western Wear. And our Top Hand this week goes to Cracker Johnson. Hear his story! We have it all for you in this jam-packed episode of The Ranch It Up Radio Show! As always Tigger & BEC and the Ranch It Up crew dive into the latest agriculture news, rodeo action not to miss, and cover the cattle markets. WHAT CAUSES SCOURS IN BEEF CATTLE/CALVES Clostridia-Enterotoxemia The most common form of Clostridium in cattle is caused by Clostridium perfringens. The gram-positive bacteria are a challenge due to its ability to form spores and lay dormant for long-periods of time. The bacteria reproduce by releasing spores into its environment (soil, feed, manure). The spores can even lay dormant in the animal’s intestine until opportunity presents itself. Infection takes place either through ingestion of spores or through an open wound. The most severe cases happen within the first month of a calf’s life, and can result in sudden death. Clinical Signs • Diarrhea - Bloody, Mucus Present, Bubbly • Dehydrated • Bloat • Blindness Prevention/Treatment: Prevention can be difficult due to the Clostridia spores being extremely durable and present almost everywhere. Complete cleanout and disinfection between calves is helpful, but not always effective. A good vaccination program will reduce clinical disease. The best method is to develop good gut health and the immune system of the calf. Farmatan has been shown to strengthen the intestinal wall, helping to prevent infection from taking hold. Coccidiosis Cattle are host to numerous species of Coccidia, a single-celled protozoal parasite. Infection and clinical symptoms can happen any time during a calf’s life, with the most severe reaction usually occurring between 3-6 weeks of age. The life-cycle of coccidia requires time to infect the intestine causing destruction of the mucosal and epithelial lining. The oocytes mature outside the host in warm, moist environments before being consumed, causing infection of a new host. Clinical Signs • Diarrhea - Watery, Bloody • Depression • Weight Loss Prevention/Treatment: Prevention of Coccidiosis is possible by keeping young calves separate from older animals, providing clean water and feed, and dry conditions. Isolation of infected animals is key to preventing transmission. Keeping the pen dry is the most important step a farmer/rancher can take in preventing Coccidiosis. Treatment can have a good impact on reducing secondary disease, and speeding up recovery time. Farmatan has been shown to disrupt the reproductive cycle of Coccidia; and may help strengthen the intestinal wall to prevent infection, in both the cow and calf. Coronavirus Bovine Coronavirus is a ubiquitous, envelope-viral disease, causing respiratory and enteric infection. There are many serotypes for this virus, making it difficult to test for, and create a vaccine. Coronavirus can present as either diarrhea and/or respiratory illness; transmitted through nasal discharge and/or feces. Animal reservoirs continue to spread the disease, and make eradication almost impossible. Clinical disease will likely occur between days 10-14, and present for up to 4 days. Clinical Signs • Diarrhea - Watery • Nasal Discharge • Coughing Prevention/Treatment: Prevention is difficult due to wild animals transmitting the disease. Keeping wild animals out of animal enclosures is essential. Isolation of infected animals is critical to preventing the spread of Coronavirus. Adequate colostrum intake, along with a good vaccination program will help prevent clinical disease. Learn more about the positive effects of Farmtan’s active ingredient on Coronavir

S3 Ep 161This Is How To Make The Cow Herd More Profitable & Efficient
We give you the information to make your cow herd more efficient because uniformity reduces cost and creates profit. This is a big one and we have it all covered on this episode of the Ranch It Up Radio Show! Join Jeff 'Tigger' Erhardt, the Boss Lady Rebecca Wanner aka 'BEC', and our crew as we bring you the latest in markets, news, and Western entertainment on this all-new episode of the Ranch It Up Radio Show. Be sure to subscribe on your favorite podcasting app or on the Ranch It Up Radio Show YouTube Channel. EPISODE 161 DETAILS To get our cow herd as efficient as possible, one has to take the guesswork out of the equation. This can be tough no matter what we do because we are dealing with mother nature. But we CAN use mother nature and science to find the perfect genetic match for our cows. The seedstock industry has been using these tools for the past several years and they are available for anyone in the commercial business to use. No more wasted matings, disappointments and not understanding why we had all the variation come weaning time. Let’s get prescribed matings and add uniformity to our calf crop. Marty Ropp with Allied Genetic Resources joins us today for a very in depth conversation. It is complex but it does not have to be confusing and all these wonderful tools are readily available at our fingertips. We have the latest market recaps from Kirk Donsbach with Stone X Financial, Inc. Plus the news and information you have come to rely on each and every week! As always Tigger & BEC and the Ranch It Up crew dive into the latest agriculture news, rodeo action not to miss, and cover the cattle markets. ALLIED GENETIC RESOURCES The Allied approach combines consistent genetic value improvement with services to reward producers for making better cattle. Allied services are designed primarily for commercial customer success with practical genetic solutions applied to your specific production system needs. The seedstock industry’s only purpose is to drive genetic change in the commercial cattle industry by breeding and developing bulls with balanced traits and bred-in profit drivers that add value at the ranch and beyond. Their efforts and dedication are vital to an industry challenged with producing a product that must excel in varying environments, with differing management practices, balanced with maternal and terminal requirements, all while performing in the feedlot and consistently delivering an enjoyable eating experience for the consumer. Not an easy job to say the least. You’ve worked for years, in some cases for generations, at constant genetic improvement. It would be hard to measure the time and money you’ve invested in genetics to ensure your commercial customers can confidently buy the bulls you produce each year. But that alone is not enough to differentiate you from your competition. In today’s ever-increasingly competitive seedstock business, you’ve got to offer customer service after the sale, including marketing options for your bull customers to capture the value they’ve invested in from your program. That’s where Allied can deliver solutions… Allied values its relationship with Superior Livestock Auction, providing its bull customers with greater access to the nation’s largest buyer base and the risk management of forward contracting. Clint Berry has worked with buyers and sellers of high-quality cattle for more than a decade, building a solid reputation with ranchers and feeders. Along with his growing team of Superior Livestock reps, strategically distributed throughout cattle country, Clint works daily in the market to build the supply and the demand for load lots of cattle, with added value options that deliver profit throughout each segment of the industry. RightMate, Precision Mating Technology, Powered by Top Genomics LLC Genetic providers have had solid tools to assist in making consistent genetic progress for many years. In the past few years improved EPDs, bolstered by the inclusion of genomic evaluation, have been a great step forward to making the potential for progress even greater. Now there is a tested program that offers substantially more rapid improvement and success from your investment in data collection and genomic testing. RightMate generates specific, precision mating options that take full advantage of complementarity genomics between sires and dams plus all of the EPD power created from today’s massive trait databases and it is easy to use. RightMate will absolutely change the trajectory and consistency of your genetic improvement program. Never before has a tool been available to the beef business that drives positive change and reduces variability so quickly. Yes, RightMate technology can also help you create a more consistent calf crop. With the slow nature of improvement, because of the relatively low reproductive rate of cattle vs. other species, you simply can’t afford to make decisions that don’t assure progress. This is especially true for thos

Plus, the weekly market recap with Kirk Donsbach with Stone X Financial, Inc. We have it all for you in this jam-packed episode of The Ranch It Up Radio Show! As always Tigger & BEC and the Ranch It Up crew dive into the latest agriculture news, rodeo action not to miss, and cover the cattle markets. WHAT CAUSES PINKEYE IN CATTLE Preventing traditional summer pinkeye in cattle involves eliminating the many eye irritations listed in this report. Identifying and taking steps to resolve physical hazards in your operation, including face fly control, may be more effective than pinkeye vaccinations. Offer protection from the sunlight by providing adequately sized shade and allow cattle to graze at night when face flies are not active. Make sure mineral consumption is adequate months before the pinkeye season. Selenium, copper, and zinc are vital for maintaining eye health. Be vigilant and immediately isolate the first case of pinkeye. Seek a veterinary diagnosis. Develop a treatment and prevention plan with input from your veterinarian. WHAT IS PINKEYE The scientific name for pinkeye is infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis (IBK). It is a disease of cornea (eye surface) and the conjunctiva (eyelids). IBK is reported as the most common cause of eye disease in all breeding females and calves more than three weeks old. It is second only to calf scours, the most prevalent condition affecting pre-weaned calves (Dewell). According to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the first clinical signs of any eye irritation, including IBK, is often tearing, tear staining, and eyelid squinting. Tearing often increases as the pinkeye progresses. IBK may suddenly appear as an opaque spot on the cornea, making early recognition difficult. Conjunctivitis is sometimes seen but not in every case. Corneal ulceration may occur as pinkeye progresses. Some cases of IBK spontaneously resolve. Others result in severe damage to the cornea and blindness. IBK is costly and labor intense to treat. Suffering cattle have decreased appetite because of pain or decreased vision and the inability to locate food and water. Cattle with scarred or ‘blue’ eyes with prolapsed corneas, or blind cattle have reduced value at the market. ASSOCIATED PINKEYE FACTORS Normal eyes have adequate defense mechanisms to prevent infection and subsequent corneal ulceration. Any form of eye irritation allows pathogens to penetrate the cornea: Physical trauma from aggression between animals, overcrowded bunks, self-feeders; handling during transport; abrasive bedding, grazing close to field margins where thorns, barbed wire and tufts of dry stalks of grass can scratch the cornea; rust/corrosion and the sharp edges from galvanized handling systems and penning; tail switching especially when crowded together under shade Blowing dust and sand, weed seeds/chaff Face flies UV irradiation (bright sunlight) causes cell damage to the conjunctiva and cornea Chemical trauma, i.e. fresh nitrogen on pasture Other IBK associated factors include stress from shipping, processing, and insects which can all be immunosuppressive. Younger cattle are more susceptible to IBK than are older cattle. Cattle with white faces, except Brahman cattle, appear to have a higher incidence of IBK. Mineral deficiencies involving selenium, copper and zinc have been diagnosed in recurrent IBK herd outbreaks. MICROBIAL AGENTS INVOLVED WITH PINKEYE The eye has a limited number of ways to respond to disease or injury; clinical signs look the same for a variety of reasons. Since the 1970’s, Moraxilla bovis is accepted as the most common cause of traditional IBK (‘summer pinkeye’). M. bovis is a gram-negative rod-shaped bacterium with pili that allows them to attach to eye surface. M. bovis produces a toxin and hemolysin which play roles in pathogenicity. M. bovis can be isolated from normal eyes; asymptomatic carriers reside in herds. Other Moraxella species were identified as causing IBK, t

S1 Ep 2This Is How Much Crop Land Is Selling For At Auction
EPISODE 2 DETAILS Cropland Auction Sets Fresh Record in North Dakota PIFERS AUCTION AND REALTY According to a post on Facebook, on November 1, Pifer's Auctioneers hosted a live and online land auction. The farm featured 320 acres of highly-productive land in Pembina County, N.D. That's the very northeastern corner of the state in the Red River Valley. The auction house says the land sold for $17,500 per deeded acre to a family farm operation. It says that shattered the all-time high for North Dakota cropland. Roughly 30 bidders were on hand for the auction. The Pifer team says that area is known to be tight where very few farms ever get exposed to the market. Another of the enticements comes from the crop rotations in that region. Farms typically grow potatoes, sugar beets, wheat, corn, barley and soybeans. The ability to produce sugar beets and potatoes on medium to heavier loam soil, without irrigation, was a strong draw. Be sure to subscribe on your favorite podcasting app or on the Ranch It Up Radio Show YouTube Channel. EPISODE 157 DETAILS Your questions are always welcome here at The Ranch It Up Radio Show. One of our listeners from Missouri texted us in regard to last week's program. We featured Doug Bichler from Bichler Simmentals in South Central North Dakota. He already had a very successful seedstock operation supplying Simmental and SimAngus Genetics. His accident in 2017 caused him and his family to re-evaluate how they were running their cattle, the efficiency of bloodlines, and the predictability of the bulls being offered for sale each year. This caused the operation to transition from a winter and spring calving cowherd to a summer calving cowherd. They changed from selling Spring Yearling Bulls each February to selling Virgin Long Yearling Bulls in November. David from Missouri was wondering how to care for these fall yearling bulls and how it is different from caring for spring yearling bulls. We bring Doug to answer more questions about managing new herd sire prospects. We start a new segment where you, our listeners get to nominate a person, farm/ranch, business, product, horse, dog, etc, that does not matter for our weekly Ranch It Up Radio Show Top Hand. Today, we relieve our very first winner. Not to mention the weekly market recap with Kirk Donsbach with Stone X Financial, Inc. We have it all for you in this jam-packed episode of The Ranch It Up Radio Show! As always Tigger & BEC and the Ranch It Up crew dive into the latest agriculture news, rodeo action not to miss, and cover the cattle markets. HOW TO MANAGE YOUR NEW HERD SIRE We spend all that time trying to find the perfect bull for our operation. And now congratulations! You found him and got him purchased in your price range. Now what? Learn how to manage your new herd sires and how to get them through the cold months on into breeding season. BICHLER SIMMENTALS The Program: The Bichler Simmentals ranch is owned and operated by Doug and Maria Bichler, representing the third generation to farm the land and live on the homestead. Since the farm’s inception in 1920, the Bichler family has strived to care for the land and their animals to the best of their ability. And, in 2022 that core value has never wavered. The program has grown significantly in the past 17 years. Since they began their production sale in 2005, they have been able to not only increase the number of bulls and females offered but also create more genetic and phenotypic consistent cattle. They use AI and embryo transfer extensively to ensure they are propagating the best genetics. The ranch is located in south central North Dakota and consists of 250 mother cows which are comprised of both registered and commercial females. Commercial females are utilized in the ET program. The Philosophy: Their philosophy is that quality is always centered around the cowherd. This is why they cull heavily for not only performance and genetics but for relevant traits important to customers such as disposition, udder quality, and structural soundness. Any females failing to meet these requirements are either moved into the recipient herd or are simply culled. The Bichler family believes the best-performing cattle are moderately framed, easy fleshing, and deep-bodied and you will see this in the cattle they produce. They flush superior cows in the herd to produce superior females which in turn are mated to produce bulls for the purebred and commercial producers alike. RANCH IT UP RADIO SHOW TOP HAND We are starting a new feature here on the Ranch It Up Radio Show. Each week a particular operation, business, person, outfit, bull, dog, it does not matter, is highlighted as Tigger & BEC approved, and they are the Top Hand of the Week. You can nominate any operation just send us an email of who or what you are nominating and why you are nominating. Today our Top Hand is JYJ Red Angus of Columbia, Alabama. Jim and Jessica Yance. Jim became very interested in the Red Angus breed 23 years ago when he visited R.A. Brown Ranch in Throckmorton, Texas. As a result, he bought his first Red Angus bulls and set out to transform a very hodge-podge herd of commercial cattle into a very impressive, uniform, highly marketable calf crop. After graduating from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, he returned to the family farm with a passion for rebuilding the farm’s cowherd, and in just a few years was able to utilize breed-leading

S3 Ep 153Can You Build A Foundation Cowherd From Scratch? Absolutely
EPISODE 153 DETAILS We all want to improve our genetics and add more potential value to our cowherd. But taking a commercial herd and converting it into a viable seedstock operation is no easy task. That is exactly what one North Dakota producer did. Brad Zimmerman started using Purebred Gelbvieh bulls to inject hybrid vigor into his calf crop. Seeing the results and following his love for seedstock, he made the decision to convert his cowherd to a foundation herd of Gelbveh and Balancer. He is extremely proud of the fact that all of his cows have the Zimmerman prefix. He can trace the lineage all the way to the beginning and how his herd is backed by performance and consistent quality. We have some of the most recent news on Mandatory Country of Origin Labeling (MCOOL), the story of a high school in Oklahoma that added meat processing to its curriculum and an update of the new sires being offered from Select Sires! GELBVIEH AND BALANCER Gelbvieh and Balancer cattle are well known throughout the beef industry for their maternal strengths and superior growth. With attributes such as more pounds of calf weaned, added fertility, greater cow herd longevity and heavier carcass weights, just to name a few, Gelbvieh and Balancer offer genetics that work for the commercial cattle business. Balancer cattle are registered hybrid seedstock that have documented pedigrees and expected progeny differences (EPDs). Balancer animals are 25 to 75 percent Gelbvieh with the balance of Angus or Red Angus. Balancer cattle combine the Gelbvieh growth, muscle, leanness, fertility, longevity and low yield grading ability with the carcass qualities of Angus Balancer cattle offer a simple and powerful way to maintain hybrid vigor and a profitable blend of British and Continental genetics without a complicated crossbreeding system. These cattle fit well into all aspects of the beef industry including commercial cow/calf operations and on the rail. S3 Ep 152Who Makes Change Happen In The Beef Business? We Find Out!
EPISODE 152 DETAILS Whose job is it to change the cattle industry. Is it the cow-calf man, who raises the majority of the beef? Is it the seedstock producer who raises the genetics that we need? Is it the stocker, who gets the calves on feed? Is it the feed yard to get the cattle to finish? Is it the packer who processes and harvests the beef? In reality, it is all of these segments coming together to make the changes we need in the cattle business. However, it is the seedstock producer who can influence that change probably more than any of those aforementioned segments. We had a great sit-down conversation with Steve Koester, the immediate past president of the Red Angus Association of America and Co-Owner and Manager of Koester Red Angus. We have the news from cow country that you need to hear. Plus feeder calf sale reports are on fire!!! KOESTER RED ANGUS Our vision for the future...Rooted in heritage and stewardship while envisioning tomorrow. We look beyond the current season and market, seeking fresh genetics that will add value to our customers’ calves and cowherds for generations into the future. We know – and accept the responsibility – that our decisions today impact the livelihood of the cattlemen who trust our genetics. All of our registered Red Angus Cows and heifers calve in August and September on pasture, where we weigh and tag daily. We also udder and disposition score each dam as she calves. All of our cows are DNA tested and display genomically enhanced EPDs which predicts their potential to the highest level possible. In early November, we synchronize, AI and sort into breeding groups for a 45-day breeding season. Matings are done which enhance our customers’ profitability to the best of our ability. We wean calves in March and collect DNA samples for GGP testing. We also weigh and body condition score the cows as well as record her foot scores. The heifers are summered on pasture with only protein block supplements. We run the bulls on grass with just enough supplement to maintain their development and prepare them for yearling carcass and data collection. They are not put on a feed test. The Sale Bulls come into the lot in late August where we develop them as long yearlings for the sale in March, held in conjunction with Leland Red Angus at their ranch near Sidney, Montana. In addition to genomically enhanced EPDs on the Sale Bulls, we continually monitor performance, feet, and disposition, culling accordingly until only the highest profitability bulls are maintained for sale. We welcome guests to visit our family operation during any season or phase of production. COW COUNTRY NEWS USDA Tests “Raised Without Antibiotics” Beef Claim. FARMATAN BY IMOGENE INGREDIENTS Imogene Ingredients works to access specialty feed ingredients at competitive costs from sources around the world. New regulations and technologies are changing the feed industry. Ingredients that would not have been used 10 years ago are considered mainstream today. Coating technologies have increased the efficiency of ingredients and further research of enzymes, amino acids and naturally occurring antibiotic alternatives continue to change our perception of what is economical in today’s ration formulations. FARMATAN by Imogene Ingredients is nature’s answer! Naturally produced tannic acid has been used for generations in Europe to protect animals from pathogens that can attack the immune system. Now, Farmatan is available here, and can be mixed in a TMR, liquid form, and in tubs! This is a must-have tool for anyone in the cattle business, from the cow/calf operation to the feeding industry and any others in between! RED ANGUS ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA Red Angus females are in high demand from commercial producers far and wide. Their longevity, fertility, adaptability, and efficiency, coupled with their good disposition, make them the ideal cow for today’s producers. Data from Superior Livestock has shown that Red Angus females command up to $17/cwt more than females of all other breed types, which solidifies the fact that Red Angus cows can position your farm or ranch to thrive in today’s volatile markets. Additional data¹ from Superior Livestock show that bred Red Angus heifers command an average of $150 more per head than all other breed types ($140 more than Angus-sired, $133 more than English x Continental and $177 more than Brahman-influenced bred heifers). Serious data for serious consideration: what can Red Angus do for your herd and your bank account? Have you been watching the prices of cattle and calves lately? We know you have! And congratulations for finally getting the prices we all deserve. Beef is king! But none of that matters if you do not have relationships with buyers and marketers to bid on those calves. That is where Allied Feeding Partners from Allied Genetic Resources comes into play. As always Tigger & BEC and the Ranch It Up crew dive into the latest agriculture news, rodeo action not to miss, and cover the cattle markets. ALLIED FEEDING PARTNERS Allied Feeding Partners (AFP) was formed by some of the nation's top seedstock producers who trust in the value of feeder cattle sired by their genetics & are dedicated to customer service after the sale. The primary goals of AFP are to build stronger, long-term relationships with bull customers, ensure competition on sale day when customers are marketing their calves, and capture & share feedlot/harvest data with our customers to make better bull selection decisions & to utilize in future years when marketing their calves. Data past the ranch of origin is typically missing for most cattlemen, but AFP provides our customers with the chance to leverage that data for their long-term benefit. Make no mistake...AFP plans to make money feeding cattle, this is not a charity. But our primary objective is to enhance the relationship between our commercial bull customers & our seedstock partners. By sharing critical performance, health & carcass data through harvest, customers of AFP have the insight to streamline their genetic selection decisions & the ability to build a stronger reputation with potential buyers of their cattle by providing them with past results. This philosophy works in all forms of marketing but is most evident when marketed with our Rep Team on Superior Livestock Auction. In general, when a buyer purchases feeder cattle that perform well, they are not incentivized to share that data with the seller for fear of increasing the price of the cattle in future years. But AFP's goals are to assist our bull customers in their own profitability, with the trust of that dedication being rewarded with long-term relationships between our seedstock suppliers & our customers. S3 Ep 144Are You Sick Of These This Summer?
Are you sick of dealing with flies this summer? It seems like there are so many more than years past. Regardless, if they are bugging you, they are pestering the livestock and pets. With cattle prices on the rise, are you prepared? Do you know what your cost of gain is? Do you know your breakeven? We give you some nuggets to help get and keep your operation in the black! Do you know what type of flies you are battling on your outfit: We give you some great points on how to identify the flies and what those potential economic losses could be. We are all watching the markets and trying to gauge how high or low cattle prices will be when we need to sell. Do we have the knowledge and facts of just what those prices need to be for us to make a profit? We bring you some great tips on how to get started. As always Tigger & BEC and the Ranch It Up crew dive into the latest agriculture news, rodeo action not to miss, and cover the cattle markets. FLIES, FLIES, AND MORE FLIES If your outfit is like ours, you are battling the flies, and lots of them this year. It seems nothing is getting a break. It is very important that we know what types of flies we are fighting. There are 4 types of flies that exist on a cow/calf, stocker, feedlot, and dairy outfit. They are Horn Flies, Face Flies, Stable Flies, and House Flies. All of them have a tremendous economic impact on our bottom line, as much as $50 dollars a head and up! Those are real-life numbers and significant ones at that. Horn Flies and Face Flies are the most common in a cow/calf operation and with stocker cattle. Horn Flies exist on the backs of cattle while Face Flies feed around the eyes and tear ducts. Stable Flies bite the legs of cattle and often cause them to bunch up. Economic losses due to the mismanagement of flies can result in as much as one billion dollars a year! S3 Ep 143Here Is The Latest Cattle News And Market Reports
We cover many topics that you need to hear about on this episode of The Ranch It Up Radio Show. Studies claim there could be an uptick in diseases from animals to people. It is the lowest cowherd size in over 50 years, what could this mean? We recap Western Video Market’s Silver Legacy Sale and so much more. Join Jeff 'Tigger' Erhardt, the Boss Lady Rebecca Wanner aka 'BEC', and our crew as we bring you the latest in markets and Western entertainment on this all-new episode of the Ranch It Up Radio Show. Be sure to subscribe on your favorite podcasting app or on the Ranch It Up Radio Show YouTube Channel. EPISODE 143 DETAILS Let's Ranch it Up! A new study by Harvard Law School and New York University claim that there could be an increase in infectious disease from animals to humans. Of course, we offer our opinions on this one! More and more government regulations seem to creep into our industry. Now the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a questionnaire to inspectors, to use with establishments that slaughter any cattle. Did you know that the mid-year cattle inventory is the lowest that it has been in over 50 years? And the numbers are down even lower from last year. Plus Tigger & BEC have an update from Western Video Market’s Silver Legacy that may be a gauge of what cattle prices will bring this fall! As always Tigger & BEC and the Ranch It Up crew dive into the latest agriculture news, rodeo action not to miss, and cover the cattle markets. WESTERN VIDEO MARKET SILVER LEGACY SALE The Silver Legacy Sale from Western Video Market was certainly glimmering for just about everyone involved. The location was Reno, Nevada and the dates were July 10 - 12. There was a tremendous offering of feeder and stocker cattle, cow/calf pairs, bred heifers, and bred cows. The demand seemed especially strong for heavier-weight stocker cattle. Many load lots were offered and we summarize the sale by picking various weight classes, and load amounts and even going through the cow/calf pairs and bred females. WHY are these recaps so important? Because it’s all bout the MARKETING! Sure it’s great to hear how cattle are selling in other parts of the country. But the main reason The Ranch It Up Radio Show and Podcast goes over these numbers week in and week out is to get you, the producer, to start thinking about how you are going to market your calves. And don’t just settle for one option. There are many, many different approaches and ways to sell those calves this fall. Your local auction barns are a great place to start. Don’t forget about listing those calves for free on LivestockMarket.com! You can utilize the knowledge and expertise of our partners like Superior Livestock and Allied Feeding Partners. And you can always market your cattle private treaty. And Jeff “Tigger” Erhardt and Rebecca Wanner aka “BEC” have done plenty of that on their outfit. Knowledge is Power! And get that knowledge! COW COUNTRY NEWS The interaction between humans and livestock may continue to threaten to expose people to a variety of infectious diseases, according to a new study by Harvard Law School and New York University. USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a questionnaire to inspectors, to use with establishments that slaughter any cattle. This one is all about the use or the lack of use of antibiotics The Mid-Year Cattle Inventory is the lowest it’s been in over 50 years. What could this mean for the beef business? And so many are wondering, will these higher cattle market prices remain until sale day? The time to put a marketing plan into place is NOW! So we need to ask ourselves, “Are my bull purchasing or buying decisions paying dividends?” “Do I have the information that puts my feeder cattle at the forefront of buyers and continue to demand attention?” This is where Allied Feeding Partners may come in and help. Set yourself up for success now and in the future! As always Tigger & BEC and the Ranch It Up crew dive into the latest agriculture news, rodeo action to not miss, and cover the cattle markets. In general, when buyers purchase feeder cattle that perform well, they are not incentivized to share that data with the seller for fear of increasing the price of the cattle in future years. But AFP's goals are to assist our bull customers in their own profitability, with the trust of that dedication being rewarded with long-term relationships between our seedstock suppliers & our customers. To learn more, contact Clint Berry (417) 844-1009 or your Allied seedstock provider. COW COUNTRY NEWS The National High School Finals Rodeo is happening as we speak in Gillette, Wyoming!
