Rams Day 3 picks are in and the UDFA class is signed. The 2024 Draft is a wrap, and the Rams seemed to have carried over some of the same methodologies from 2022 that propelled them to a 10-win season in 2023. But now, with a 1st round pick in Jared Verse, pairing him with his brother in Braden Fiske and truly bolstering up the defense from top-to-bottom, there's plenty of reasons to believe this team is going to be really tough to beat again in 2024. They have exactly what they need to put another really successful product on the field for us Rams fans once again. Day 2 has come and gone, and the Rams added more talent to their front-7 in Braden Fiske (Mob Squad 2.0?), running back Blake Corum from Michigan (all he does is score touchdowns) and Kamren Kinchens from Miami, who we believe to be the steal of the entire draft. After 8 long years, the Rams sat comfortably and drafted a pass rusher from Florida State at #19 overall. Jared Verse is an incredible edge prospect who is going to start immediately for the Los Angeles Rams, opposite of Byron Young who will be entering his 2nd year. The Rams continue to build out their young core and made a ton of Rams fans happy by sitting at 19, not trading away assets and taking the pass rusher with the highest floor in the draft. The greatest defensive player of all-time has decided to retire after 10 seasons. The Rams have made some pretty significant moves over the past few days, and particularly TODAY in signing Jonah Jackson and Colby Parkinson. The Rams have kicked off the 2024 offseason by cutting Brian Allen, and re-signing Demarcus Robinson to a 1-year, $5MM deal. Sean McVay also discussed working out a deal with Coleman Shelton and his representation in a recent press conference, as well as the future of Joe Noteboom. The Rams made a final decision on Brian Allen and released him from the team while saving a total of $4.9MM towards their 2024 salary cap. The Rams have officially hired three new coaches to their staff in Giff Smith (defensive line coach/run game coordinator), John Streicher (coordinator of football strategy) and Chili Davis (special teams assistant). All of which will serve a significant purpose as Sean McVay has to re-build his staff for the 100th time. The Rams are in a unique position: one where they have their 1st round pick for the 1st time since 2016 when they selected Jared Goff. Rams hire Chris Shula (only 37 years old) to be their new defensive coordinator, who is somebody they have a TON of familiarity with. He's an internal hire that has 7 years of coaching experience under Sean McVay and has successfully coached in multiple roles throughout his career with the Rams. He has coached everything from the inside linebackers to the outside linebackers to the defensive backs. He was Sean McVay’s college teammate and roommate, and actually lived in Sean McVay’s HOUSE back in 2017 when McVay bought his 4600 square foot, 6-bedroom house in Encino Hills, California. The Rams are currently on the hunt for a new defensive coordinator. They're also in the process of filling out other staff needs, as Sean McVay's coaching staff continues to get poached year after year. Raheem Morris is taking Zac Robinson with him to Atlanta, coach Henny is already at USC, and the Rams are going to be interviewing Brandon Staley and Dennard Wilson next week (based on what has been reported). For the Rams to continue their success in the 2024-2025 season, all they'll need is for Les Snead to continue doing what he has been doing since Sean McVay arrived in Los Angeles. But more specifically: capitalizing on some of the foundations they've set forth coming out of 2023. That means continuing to find talent in the draft, but also shuffling some things around (Restructures, Extensions) to create additional cap room for the upcoming season so that the Rams have legitimate spending flexibility in free agency. The Rams unfortunately fell a bit short last night, and it was due to two major reasons: their lack of red zone efficiency, and the defense's inability to adjust until the 2nd half. This is a fun week for Lions and Rams fans. Specifically, as it relates to the Quarterbacks and all of the parallels that exist between the two players and franchises. The Rams' playoff destiny officially begins in Detroit, as the Rams beat the 49ers for the 1st time after losing to them in 9 consecutive regular season games (can't forget about the NFC Championship, too). But what Carson Wentz did, under Sean McVay and Mike LaFleur's leadership, was truly heroic and it simultaneously allowed our favorite rookie ever in Puka Nacua to break not only the receptions record for a rookie, but also the receiving yards record which was more than 63 years old. It seems everything came together for the Rams at the right time this season, and there's a belief amongst Rams fans that this game in Detroit is going to be more pressure-packed for the home team than it is for the visiting Rams. The Rams are traveling to San Francisco with playoff seeding on the line. They've decided to take gambles in starting Carson Wentz and sitting a majority of their core in Aaron Donald, Ernest Jones, Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp and Kyren Williams (while SF is presumably electing to do something similar, with Purdy & McCaffrey already out). They're also somewhat dependent on the Bears finding a way to beat Green Bay in Lambeau Field, because it then guarantees the Rams are locked into the 6th seed and will likely have the favorable match-up that the world desires in Detroit. The Rams are officially PLAYOFF BOUND! The Rams are currently a heavy favorite to make the playoffs prior to Sunday's game, and just need to handle their own business (get a win on the road) and hope Seattle loses in order to clinch a playoff spot. No game in this league is every easy, though as the Eagles learned the hard way on Christmas when Tyrod Taylor had an opportunity to tie the game in the Giants' final possession. The Rams took care of business in their biggest game of the season. On Thursday night, they played host to the New Orleans Saints (now 7-8) in what was essentially a playoff game. The score may have been somewhat close in the end, but the Rams were pretty much dominant throughout the entire game. They're plenty poised to make some noise in the final weeks of the season/early in the playoffs, on the backs of their weight-bearing walls, as well as their draft class and veteran free agents. The Rams are in the process of preparing for their biggest game of the season. On Thursday night, they'll play host to the New Orleans Saints (also 7-7) with massive playoff implications on the line. If the Rams win, their playoff odds skyrocket and their chances of being the 6th or 7th seed in the NFC are very much real. A loss makes the road to the post-season MUCH more difficult, as well as having to face the 49ers in the final week of the season. It's no secret, the Rams are making a legitimate playoff push at 7-7 with 3 games to play. The relationship with Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp continues to grow stronger, as Matthew Stafford is clearly playing some of the best football in his career. Kyren Williams (despite the two fumbles) is as effective in this offense as Todd Gurley once was. The Rams' offensive line is also doing it's job and staying healthy for the majority. The Rams (6-7) are playing host as 7-point favorites to the Washington Commanders (4-9), who are coming off a bye (the Rams’ 4th opponent this season that’s coming off a bye) and have given up an average of 38 points in four straight losses. The once .500 Washington Commanders lost EDGE help at the deadline in Montez Sweat (in Chicago) and Chase Young (in San Francisco) on Oct. 31st and have gone 1-4 since with their only win being over the Patriots back in early November. The Rams (now 6-7) had put together an impressive streak of 3 straight wins against Seattle, Arizona and Cleveland to get back to .500. But, the Ravens proved they were a tougher task, and a walk-off win on a punt return (with an obvious missed block in the back call) ended up being the difference. It’s important to not get caught up on the final result of this game, because the Rams are playing some really good football right now. And with the Commanders, Saints and Giants on deck, there’s no reason to suggest they can’t win all three games and find themselves in one of the final NFC playoff spots. The Rams' offense took roughly 9-12 weeks to come together, and their inexperienced defense is starting to follow suit. They've also (finally) solidified the kicker position for a potential post-season run. They're now facing arguably their toughest match-up yet (the Baltimore Ravens), with the Ravens front-7 playing as well as any in football right now. How can the Rams put together a gameplan strong enough to remain within 1 possession in the 4th quarter? From there (if they can execute), they have a legitimate opportunity to continue shocking those who claimed they were officially in "tank mode" after losing to the Packers. The Rams have now won 3 straight games, leaving them very much in playoff contention as the current 8 seed in the NFC. Let's not kid ourselves: this team has been really impressive and is playing complimentary football over the last three weeks for the first time this season. The tanking narrative is starting to slip away, and Rams fans are starting to focus-in on the final stretch of the season. The question is: can this current roster actually pull off a playoff push, or will they fall short? We've been on record all season saying they're good enough to grab the 6th or 7th seed in the NFC. The Rams are in a position to grab the 7th seed in the NFC and win three games in a row for the first time this season. The Cleveland Browns and (potentially) former Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco are in their way, as the Rams are going to have to be smart with how they approach their gameplan if they want to come away with a win. The best way would be to win consistently at the line of scrimmage, and negate the pressure that Myles Garrett and ZaDarius Smith cause in the pass game by heavily utilizing Kyren Williams and Royce Freeman. Was this as close to a perfect game as this Rams roster can play? We're thinking it was. Not only have the Rams now won back-to-back games for the first time this season (in dominant fashion, hanging 37 points on the Cardinals), but they’ve now swept a division rival in back-to-back weeks. Led by Kyren Williams' heroic effort, it’s the first time they’ve won back-to-back games since weeks 2 and 3 of last year. Is this Rams team poised to make a bit of a run come prepared to play two AFC teams over the next two weeks? Only time will tell. But, they showed some promise today. The Rams are heading into Arizona as underdogs (as it stands right now), which is interesting considering the Rams have handled Arizona the last 8 times they’ve traveled there. But, this Arizona Cardinals team in Week 12 is completely different from the team we saw in Week 6, primarily due to players like Kyler Murray, James Conner, and Budda Baker. When we talked through the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6 and their inability to move the ball in the second half, we knew they’d give us a better effort when they were fully healthy later on in the season. The Rams haven't played good football over the last 5-6 weeks. There's no way around it. But for some reason, they always seem to do just enough against the Seattle Seahawks. Sure, a ton of their offense was aided by the 130 penalty yards Seattle committed. But, that doesn't mean the Rams stepped on the gas (offensively and defensively) in the 2nd half when they were down their Super Bowl MVP and Triple Crown winner. The Rams are a pretty confusing team right now. Are we a solid football team if we string together a few wins over the next few weeks? Do we NOT want to win, in hopes our draft slot is better? The Rams fell to the Green Bay Packers in dramatic fashion, which makes for embarrassing losses in back-to-back weeks. Fans are angry because they felt like they were originally sold optimism by the coaching staff on the 2023 season when in reality, they all somewhat knew that the Rams were lacking in the talent department (with the exception of their three “weight bearing walls”). It felt like the Rams had a legitimate opportunity to come away with a win today at SoFi Stadium, where the Rams hosted the now 4-2 Pittsburgh Steelers. In a weekend that united the whole Rams Brothers team, the Rams fell to the Eagles, 23-14 at home. While the Rams' fans were representing, there were tons of Eagles fans to balance out the energy in the stadium -- and in most scenarios, it favored the away team.
