Ep 333Getting back to what brings you fulfillment
I recently started doing more construction and service work after nearly a year focused on working from home. With my focus on making remote work my main source of income, I was a bit surprised at the satisfaction and joy I was finding in hard physical labor. It got me to thinking about the ebbs and flows of life, and created a question in my mind: what are other things I've quit doing that previously brought me joy, and inversely, what are some things that I'm currently doing that would make me happier if I quit doing them? What are those things for you?

Ep 332Engaging Audiences: What's the Secret?
I recently got my hands on Gary Vee's latest book, *Day Trading Attention*, which explores how to find and engage with your audience, whether it's through social media, email, or other platforms. This book goes beyond the basics, guiding us on how to provide genuine value rather than just seeking attention for attention's sake. I'll share my initial thoughts and insights from the book and discuss how we can all be more innovative in capturing attention in our businesses. Plus, I want to hear from you! How are you drawing people in and adding value? Reach out to me via email or social media and let's continue this conversation.

How do you continue to support those you're responsible for, whether it's clients, family, or friends, despite feeling like you're falling short? It's all about resilience, owning your responsibilities, and pushing through the hard times. Ep 330Struggling with Motivation? Try This!
It's important to remember that sometimes motivation won't come easily, and we may have to confront difficult tasks head-on, knowing that there may not be an immediate reward. In these instances, simply mustering the courage to face the challenge can be a victory in itself. Ultimately, by recognizing the end goal and visualizing the positive outcome that awaits us on the other side of our efforts, we can inspire ourselves to push through and do the hard work necessary to achieve our goals. So, embrace the discomfort, tackle the tough tasks, and take pride in doing good work.

In this episode, I address the common misconception that your job equals your passion. It's crucial to understand that for many people, their job doesn't align with their passion, leading to a lack of fulfillment. Surprisingly, research shows that a significant 88% of individuals are not content with their current job roles. However, even if your job isn't your ultimate passion, there are ways to find elements within it that resonate with what you love.

Ep 32321 Prompts to Clarify and Achieve Your Life Goals
Today's episode is a bit different from our usual format. As I look ahead to the next year of our Mastermind program, it's crucial to focus on setting and achieving our life goals. To help you with this process, I've compiled a list of 21 insightful questions that will guide you in setting extraordinary, meaningful goals aligned with your values and vision. Grab a pen and paper, and get ready to do a deep dive. Let's set the right goals for the life you truly want to lead. Tune in, take notes, and let's get started on this transformative journey!21 Questions: What is it that you really, REALLY want? Dig deep… What is the SPECIFIC outcome you're looking for? What is the PAIN for you of NOT achieving your goal? Is this goal in line with your life vision/overall life-plan? (Don't know - what does your gut tell you?) Is this goal in line with your values? (Unsure? Ask yourself what’s REALLY important to you in life - will this goal help you achieve more of that?) Are the goals something YOU truly want, or are they something you think you SHOULD have or SHOULD be doing?(Tip: If it is a SHOULD, it may be someone else's dream…) When you think about your goal does it give you a sense of deep contentment or 'rightness', happiness and/or excitement? (If so, these are good signs that it’s a healthy goal.) If you could have the goal RIGHT NOW – would you take it? (If not, why not? What issues are there?) How does this goal fit into your life/lifestyle? (Time/effort/commitments/who else might be impacted?) Can YOU start & maintain this goal/outcome? (ie. Do you have complete control over achieving it?) How will making this change affect other aspects of your life? (ie. What else might you need to deal with?) What's good about your CURRENT SITUATION? (ie. What's the benefit of staying right where you are?) Then ask, how can I keep those good aspects while STILL making this change? WHAT might you have to give up/stop doing to achieve this goal? (Essentially, what’s the price of making this change – and are you willing to pay it?) If there was something important around achieving this goal (to help you succeed, or that could get in the way) that you haven't mentioned yet, what would it be? WHO will you have to BE to achieve this goal? Is your goal the right size to be working on? Too big? Break down into smaller goals. Too small? Fit into a larger goal. What would be the MINIMUM/Super-Easy level of goal to achieve? What would be your TARGET level of goal to achieve? What would be your EXTRAORDINARY level of goal to achieve?Resources - get moving: What RESOURCES do you already have to help you achieve your goal? Make a list! (eg. things, support from people, contacts, personal qualities, knowledge, skills, money, time etc). What RESOURCES do you NEED to help you achieve your goal? Make a list!

Ep 317Pillar #1: Systems Over Goals

You've likely heard about setting big, stretch, and S.M.A.R.T. goals as the ultimate path to success. But what if there's a more effective way? Inspired by popular books like "Atomic Habits" and "How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big," we'll explore why focusing on systems can provide a more sustainable path to living a life of purpose. In this episode you'll learn why creating systems helps you make consistent progress and keeps you from feeling like you're spinning your wheels. Ep 3155 Keys to Maximizing Your Impact!

Each key plays a part in building a life that aligns with your passions and brings profit in a meaningful way. Listen in for practical strategies and actionable advice to help you become a more compelling storyteller and enhance all facets of your life. Get ready to transform your conversations and connect with others on a deeper level.

Ep 313Are Your Habits Holding You Back?
Today's topic is one that shapes the foundation of our personal and professional success: the systems behind our goals. Many times we set ambitious goals or resolutions, only to find ourselves falling short. Why is that? In the book "Atomic Habits," he shows how the results we strive for are less about the goals themselves and more about the consistent systems and habits we build. Whether you're aiming to lose weight, become a successful business owner, or master a new craft, it's not just about setting the goals—it's about becoming the kind of person who achieves them. It requires change from the inside out.

I give practical tips from things like attending local sports events to leveraging relationships at your hardware store. So, grab your notepad and get ready for some innovative ways to expand your connections and, consequently, your business. Get ready to start connecting and make your entrepreneurial ventures even more successful!

Ep 311Are you living life on a see-saw, or a balance beam?
Today's episode is a thought-provoking discussion on the elusive concept of work-life balance. The traditional notion is that balance means equal time for all aspects of life.I would argue instead for a more dynamic approach. 'The One Thing' suggests that achieving extraordinary results requires a significant, albeit temporary, imbalance—prioritizing professional goals over personal pursuits for extended periods. This is in contrast with the easier-to-manage, shorter commitments needed in our personal lives, which focus on quality rather than outcomes. Get ready to rethink how you distribute your time across your passions and responsibilities, as I explain why treating life like a seesaw, not a balance beam, might be the key to achieving big things.

Ep 310Values to LIVE By.
Insights for today's episode come from both John Maxwell and Socrates. Life is much simpler if we align our actions with who God created us to be, and establish a set of core values to steer our decisions. I challenge you to identify your fundamental values (mine are "growth" and "impact") and to consistently measure your life against these benchmarks. Knowing your 'why' can profoundly influence your journey towards personal and professional fulfillment. If you follow the steps in this episode, you'll come away with a clearer map to guide your life.

Ep 309Don't forget the little things
Sometimes it can be a challenge balancing urgency and importance in our daily tasks. This can be simplified if you start using the Eisenhower Matrix as a framework. If you can start to leverage the Eisenhower Matrix to categorize tasks effectively, focusing on what's important but not urgent, to enhance productivity and reduce stress, you'll begin to manage your time better and focus on what truly pushes your life and business forward. Join the WhatsApp group, and come along with me for the 75HARD challenge, and change your life and business.

Ep 308The SECRET to PRODUCTIVITY!
Let's talk about a common struggle many of us face: burnout and a lack of motivation. The plain and simple truth is, discipline trumps motivation when it comes to overcoming the feeling of overwhelm. If you want some practical advice on staying motivated, including effective list-making strategies, the art of alternating tasks to maintain focus, and the significance of breaking down long-term goals into manageable tasks, then this episode is for you. You'll also be treated to some special insights from Amy Dingman of A Farmish Kind of Life, who offers her own unique method of productivity that marries well with our daily technological and non-technological tasks. In just 5 minutes, you'll learn how to maintain discipline in your routine, hack your productivity, and keep your "why" clear to motivate you every single day.

Ep 307Can You Handle the Challenge?
Join the NEXTLevel Men community on WhatsApp to join me in the 75HARD challenge and transform your life.More info about 75HARD from the creator, Andy Frisella:https://andyfrisella.com/pages/75hard-info*This program was NOT created by me* I've taken it from Andy Frisella's website. The rules are stated below, direct from his site. WHAT ARE THE RULES OF 75 HARD?Completing 75 HARD takes the execution of five simple tasks ... every day ... for 75 days ... with ZERO COMPROMISES & ZERO SUBSTITUTIONS.And if you mess up on ANY task, at any time during the 75 days of 75 HARD ... you start over at Day 1.It doesn't matter if you're on Day 2 or Day 74 ... if you fail to complete a task, you must restart 75 HARD completely. Here are the 5 critical tasks that you MUST complete on a daily basis...75 HARD RULESTASK #1: FOLLOW A STRUCTURED DIETYou must follow a diet geared toward YOUR GOALS ... and follow it for 75 days with zero deviations, zero excuses, zero alcohol, and absolutely NO CHEAT MEALS.Your diet can be whatever you want it to be (Keto, Paleo, Vegetarian, etc.) ... as long as it is aligned with your goals. This task is meant to cultivate extreme discipline that you can transfer to all areas of your life, but it only works if you follow it EXACTLY for 75 days, without deviation. While this is the most difficult rule of 75 HARD for most people, task #1 will help you gain control of every decision you make, in any situation you find yourself in.Plus, as a byproduct of actually following a structured diet for 75 days, you will be in the best physical shape of your life ... but that's far from the purpose of this program.TASK #2: TWO 45-MINUTE WORKOUTS (1 MUST BE OUTSIDE)You must complete two workouts each day during 75 HARD.Both of these workouts must be a minimum of 45 minutes long, and one of the two workouts MUST BE OUTSIDE.Regardless of the weather or circumstances you find yourself in, if you fail to complete at least one outdoor workout each day ... you must restart 75 HARD.The type of workout doesn't matter. You can run, lift weights, do a cross-training workout, go for a walk, or even do yoga. As long as you're getting up and getting your body moving with the intent to get better, it counts.Throughout 75 HARD, task #2 will teach you the ability to control what you can control, while not making excuses about what you can't control ... because the job has to get done no matter what.By learning this skill, you can increase your value in all areas of your life ... as you will be someone who "gets things done" ... rather than making excuses for why you can't.TASK #3: DRINK A GALLON OF WATERDrinking a gallon of water each and every day will teach you discipline, and that sometimes in life the simplest tasks are the hardest ... but you can't let them slip through the cracks. It doesn't matter how simple or easy a task is to complete ... you've got to find a way to get it done ... every time.In addition to the mental benefits that task #3 is designed for, drinking a gallon of water is just good for you. It's something you should be doing every day for the rest of your life ... whether you're completing 75 HARD or not ... as it is good for both your physical AND mental health.TASK #4: READ 10 PAGESTask #4 is designed to teach you a habit that will benefit you greatly from now, until the day you die.You must read something that is non-fiction, educational, and can be used to improve any area of your life.Whether it be about entrepreneurship, personal development,...

Ep 295Proverbs: Blueprint for SUCCESS
There is SO MUCH WISDOM to be found in the book of Proverbs.Myron Golden made the comment in one of his recent videos that the amount of know we have about a particular thing is only a teaspoon full compared to the ocean of knowledge available on that topic. That hit hard.Keep learning, growing, applying and impacting. And always do good work.

Ep 294Boy, that grinds my gears!
In this episode, I share a compelling story about one of my mentors experiencing a stressful situation with his landing gear while flying. His landing gear malfunctioned, refusing to retract or come down properly during their flight. To resolve the issue, he had to manually crank down the landing gear using a small crank mechanism in the aircraft. Despite numerous attempts, the gears wouldn't catch, leading to a nerve-wracking situation where it seemed like no progress could be made. This struggle resonates with the feeling many of us face in life, where our efforts seem futile, and we're merely grinding gears without any advancement. However, a turning point came when my mentor decided to shift his approach slightly. By altering the angle of the crank, the gears finally engaged, allowing him to successfully lower the landing gear and land safely. This pivotal moment poses a reflective question to listeners - what changes could occur if we adjust our perspectives in challenging situations? By making subtle shifts in our approach or seeking guidance from others, we may find that progress becomes achievable. The analogy of adjusting the angle of the crank serves as a metaphor for altering our behavior or seeking external advice to overcome life's obstacles effectively.I encourage listeners to consider changing their viewpoints and exploring new strategies when facing stagnation or difficulties. By seeking input from mentors, joining support networks, or embracing different approaches, individuals can break free from the cycle of grinding gears and begin moving forward towards their goals. Embracing change, even in small increments, can lead to significant advancements and propel individuals towards success. The key takeaway is to be proactive in seeking alternative solutions and adopting a mindset open to adaptation and growth. By implementing these subtle changes, listeners can navigate challenges more effectively and steer themselves towards positive outcomes.

Ep 2935 ways to be more innovative
Entrepreneurs often face a challenge where they have multiple ideas but struggle to innovate over time. This stagnation can hinder progress and lead to boredom within a business venture. To combat this, I offer five strategies to enhance innovation within a business setting, applicable to both businesses with employees and solopreneurs. It all starts with maintaining a balance between purpose, passion, and profit in daily operations, ensuring that innovation remains a priority alongside other tasks. For businesses with employees, creating an open atmosphere where all team members feel comfortable sharing their ideas is crucial. Employees possess valuable insights from interacting directly with customers, handling equipment, and delivering products, making their input invaluable. By fostering a collaborative environment, businesses can tap into the creativity of their employees and significantly enhance the overall innovation process. On the other hand, solopreneurs can benefit from seeking input from various sources, such as industry peers, successful entrepreneurs, customers, and even individuals with no prior experience in the field. These diverse perspectives can provide fresh ideas and unique insights to spark innovation and creativity. Establishing a platform for idea generation, whether through physical brainstorming walls or digital tools, can facilitate the collection and development of innovative concepts. Moreover, encouraging collaboration and experimentation among employees or within a solopreneur's network is essential for nurturing innovation. Allocating dedicated time for individuals to work on their ideas can yield groundbreaking results, as evidenced by success stories like Google's development of Gmail through employee-driven projects. By incentivizing creative thinking and rewarding innovative contributions, businesses can sustain a culture of innovation that fosters continuous growth and progress. Finally, refreshing traditional meeting formats and infusing them with energy and excitement can reignite creativity and engagement among team members. Small changes in meeting dynamics, such as altering the environment or introducing new elements, can revitalize discussions and stimulate fresh ideas. Ultimately, embracing a collaborative approach to innovation and involving others in the creative process can lead to transformative outcomes and sustained success in business endeavors.

Ep 292Purpose is magnetic!
In this episode, we dive into the profound human need for purpose, and how people are naturally drawn to meaningful endeavors. Whether in business, personal relationships, or on the mission field, the driving force behind any successful venture lies in its underlying purpose.

Ep 291Mini Blueprint for a Meaningful Life
I recently came across an inspiring quote from Donald Miller's book, "Hero on a Mission," which perfectly aligns with our core philosophy. We build live of meaning by stating an ambition, by enduring challenges, and by sharing our lives with others. ~ Donald Miller

Ep 290Forget the "HOW", Find Your "WHO"
Join the NEXTLevel Mastermind for men.Last week was disrupted due to a family death. I was all set for the Self Reliance Festival in Camden, Tennessee, when I learned about my wife's grandmother passing away. This cause us to miss a slight beat here on the podcast. But rest assured, we'll catch up with an additional episode this Saturday.Today's topic is a powerful one – the concept of "Who Not How," a principle discussed in my men's mastermind group and one that was beautifully illustrated at a recent virtual event I helped facilitate. It's all about shifting focus from the overwhelming question of "How?" to the empowering inquiry of "Who?" can help us navigate through tough times — pointing to faith, community, and the importance of having the right people around to turn impossibilities into realities.

Ep 289Self-Talk Sabotaging Your Success?
Limiting beliefs can hinder us from pursuing our aspirations, whether it's starting a business, approaching someone we admire, or embarking on a new endeavor. These beliefs manifest as thoughts like "I'm not good enough," "I lack the skills," or "I don't have what it takes." They act as invisible barriers preventing us from reaching our full potential and fulfilling our purpose in life. However, it's essential to recognize that these limitations are self-imposed and can be overcome. It's crucial to acknowledge that we are created in the image of a limitless God, as mentioned in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." This verse emphasizes that with faith and determination, there are no boundaries to what can be achieved. By relinquishing control and allowing divine guidance, we can surpass our perceived limitations and thrive in all aspects of life. Moreover, the power of language plays a significant role in shaping our beliefs and actions. By reframing negative statements such as "I can't" to more empowering phrases like "I choose not to," we take control of our narrative and open ourselves up to new possibilities. Small shifts in our self-talk can lead to significant growth and transformation, enabling us to break free from the constraints of our own making.By embracing a mindset of abundance and possibility, we can unleash our true potential and live a more fulfilling life. It's essential to challenge the limiting beliefs that hold us back, whether they stem from past experiences, societal norms, or our own insecurities. Through mindful language shifts and a steadfast faith in our capabilities, we can rise above self-imposed limitations and embrace the boundless opportunities that lie ahead.

Ep 288It's all about the questions you're asking
In this reflection, I recount the profound experience of witnessing communities unite during times of grief and loss. Recently attending my wife's grandmother's funeral, the outpouring of familial, communal, and religious support was truly moving. It's remarkable to witness how people come together, assisting with funeral arrangements and the overall process. This serves as a poignant reminder of the beauty that arises from shared sorrow. In today's society, we often rely on commercial services to handle such matters, but in more traditional communities, members band together to provide support in times of need. The solidarity and togetherness that emerge during such moments are beyond words. This sentiment resonates deeply with the concepts discussed in the book "Who Not How," highlighting the importance of seeking assistance from others rather than solely focusing on individual efforts. The key lies in identifying the right individuals who can contribute to achieving shared goals.Emphasizing the significance of community, the discussion delves into the idea of reciprocation within relationships. Rather than approaching interactions with a mindset of receiving help, the emphasis should be on offering support and contributing to the well-being of others. By embodying traits of generosity and service, one can attract like-minded individuals and cultivate a strong sense of community. The reflection underscores the value of utilizing one's unique gifts and talents to serve others effectively. It stresses the importance of not stretching oneself thin by attempting to fulfill every need but instead focusing on leveraging individual strengths to make a meaningful impact. By nurturing and expanding these abilities while maintaining a balanced approach to giving, individuals can enhance their influence within their communities.Overall, the discussion explores the transformative power of building and engaging with a supportive community. By seeking out collaborations, extending a helping hand, and embodying a spirit of service, individuals can create a network of mutual assistance that fosters personal growth and positively impacts those around them. The key takeaway is to embrace the concept of reciprocal support, both in seeking aid for oneself and offering assistance to others, thereby fostering a culture of communal strength and empowerment.

Ep 287If you focus on problems....
In this episode, I share an inspiring story about Ronald Reagan's journey from a young man with big dreams to a two-term president of the United States. Despite being discouraged by his friends at each step, he didn't let negativity hold him back. Reagan wanted to play football in high school, but his friends doubted him due to his size. He pursued it and excelled. Next, he set his sights on becoming an actor, facing skepticism from his football buddies. Again, he proved them wrong and found success in Hollywood. After conquering the acting world, Reagan aimed for a political career, aspiring to become the governor of California. Despite his friends' doubts, he achieved that goal as well. Not stopping there, he eventually decided to run for president, facing more skepticism from those around him. Yet, he defied the odds and became the President of the United States for two terms. Reagan's unwavering belief in himself and his ability to tune out naysayers played a pivotal role in his success. The key takeaway from Reagan's story is to focus on opportunities rather than dwelling on problems. By seeking out evidence that supports your goals and surrounding yourself with supportive individuals, you can defy expectations and achieve remarkable feats. It's crucial to listen to those who have faith in you and have walked a similar path before, disregarding the voices of negativity that may try to deter you from your aspirations. Keep pushing forward, staying committed to your objectives, and doing the necessary work to make your dreams a reality.
