S4 Ep 41Email Marketing with Newsletters

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to use an email newsletter to grow your business. Email newsletters can activate past clients, share value, help potential clients see why they need you, and more. Sending newsletters is a powerful strategy to build revenue potential in your business. So yes, I promise, they ARE worth the time and energy you put into them (and really, they don’t take much time or energy at all). If you got even just one client a year from an email newsletter…wouldn’t that be worth it to you? If you’re still thinking… “my clients are too big and important to subscribe,” or “the technology is overwhelming,” or “I’m too busy”…this episode is for you! Key areas discussed in this episode: Watch this episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/nAH706j2dEo or listen on your favorite podcast app: http://enlightenedmarketing.com/podcast/ to learn how to make email newsletters work for you.

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to create a three-part client attraction system. A system is a repeatable process you do that gets predictable results. But a sustainable marketing system can help you make more money with more ease and joy. It gives you access to generating clients when you want and need them, and gives you some control over your business. S4 Ep 371 Page Marketing Plan

1-Page Marketing Plan On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to create a 1-page marketing plan for your business this year. Honestly, most of the consultants I’ve worked with don’t have a plan at all. But part of the secret sauce of a profitable, joyful business is a 1-page marketing plan that drives all your marketing. This plan also includes prioritizing yourself: because prioritizing yourself is going to make you a more centered and present business owner. We can pre-think about the year. We can think about the outcome that we want to have for this year, and then we can boil all of that down to one page that can guide our daily activities. In this episode, I teach you how. Key areas discussed in this episode: Join the ranks of the very rare group of consultants who have an actual marketing plan! Download my template for making a 1-page marketing plan here. ️️️ Connect with me on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

S3 Ep 36Your Word | Theme | Intention For The Year

EP36: Your Word | Theme | Intention For The Year On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to set clear intentions for your business with a word or theme for the new year. If you’re reading this: you made it! It’s 2021. I’m excited for this year to be so much better than 2020, and that’s the topic of this podcast episode. You are powerful and you can create more of what you want to see in 2021. Most business owners think a bit about a plan for the year. Rarely is there a complete marketing plan (we’ll talk about that in the next episode!), but the best thing you can do if you’re doing the very least - is to choose a word for the year. It can help guide you as you go as well as understand and interpret things that happen. Learn how in this episode! S3 Ep 35Celebrate Your Success

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to grow your business by celebrating more! Celebration is a topic that’s very close to my heart. Rewarding yourself for the wins and successes you’ve gotten is one of the best ways to make the things you want to have happen in your business happen. And yet, so few consultants make celebration a regular practice. They forget, they feel awkward, they don’t value it.... But, you can really use it to change your life - celebration causes us to more quickly shift our attitude when things are hard, build new habits, and venture outside our comfort zone! Key areas discussed: I hope this episode encourages you to build a celebration habit in the new year - it has truly changed my life and I know it will change yours, too! Watch this episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/1LJVPFX8gK4 or listen on your favorite podcast platform: https://enlightenedmarketing.com/podcast

S3 Ep 34How to be More Productive in your Business…But Not in a Soul-Sucking Way

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to be more productive in your business…but not in a soul-sucking way. When most people think about productivity, they’re thinking, “How can I get more done in less time, be more efficient and push harder?” And I don’t think you need another podcast episode talking about that. So in this episode, I talk about ways to do productivity differently - ways that allow for flow, creativity and spending more time in the heart and intuitive space. When my clients do this, they are far and away more productive, more effective, and even earn more money (a wonderful side effect!). We’re not robots, so let’s stop talking about productivity and business like we are or should be. Your business should have space in it for you to think, be creative, and be a human. Listen to this episode to discover: Watch this episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/4LHhWlYI7Q4 or listen on your favorite podcast app: https://enlightenedmarketing.com/podcast.

S3 Ep 30How to Get More Client Testimonials

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to get more client testimonials for your consulting business. We all know that testimonials are gold in your business and that your happy clients want to give you testimonials. They want to say good things about you and help you to get more clients like them. But the sticking point happens when it turns into an obligation for them. We want to ask for testimonials, not delegate To-Do’s. In this episode, I share exactly how to do this so you can grow your business through consistent, supportive client testimonials. Key areas discussed in this episode: I know that if you do the things I’ve described in this episode, it’s going to be so much easier for you to get testimonials and share them with your audience. Listen to this episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/5yYMpcRqMfw or on your favorite podcast app: https://enlightenedmarketing.com/podcast/

S3 Ep 29Why You Need a Virtual CFO For Your Business

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn why you need a virtual CFO for your business with guest Patty Lawrence. Patty, my long-time client and friend, is the Consulting CFO and Founder of TurboExecs. She works with results-oriented business owners to reveal the story behind the numbers with financial tools that skyrocket profitability, productivity and remove barriers to growth and profits. Her clients typically increase the bottom line by at least 15 percent and feel in control of their finances and results. Business owners are often baffled by their numbers and the blurry picture those numbers paint. Their books are at best, a mystery, or at worst, a mess. So it’s no surprise that some business owners are their lowest paid employee. They’re unsure about how much they can afford to invest, or even if they’re prepared for what life throws at them (hello, COVID). Patty knows that. She understands that they need to hear from a calming voice about their business finances. That it’s going to be OK. And that’s exactly what she delivers. If you’re ready to get clear on your numbers, pay yourself well and discover the story behind the numbers in your business, this episode is for you. Get ready to take notes as Patty and I talk about: You’ll also hear Patty’s remarkable journey from solo entrepreneur to having a team she can trust and the gutsy hire she just made to (gulp) replace herself! Connect with Patty on LinkedIn and head to her website to use her free salary tool, an Excel sheet that helps you set clear financial goals. Catch this episode: On YouTube: https://youtu.be/5yYMpcRqMfw On your favorite app: https://enlightenedmarketing.com/podcast/

In this episode, you’ll learn how to have a more profitable and joyful business through stress-free client management. We’ve talked in the past about both selecting perfect clients and getting results through your clients. Client selection is the number one determiner of profitability (and I would add: joy) in your work with clients. But once you have that client on board, the next most important thing is client management. We have to manage the work and the clients so that we are able to achieve results through them - and in this episode, I teach you how. Key areas discussed in this episode: If you implement just a few of the actions I mention in this episode, you will see yourself on the path to better client relationships, and that means better results for them and more joy for you. On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to use play - yes, PLAY - to become more creative, achieve your goals, and experience more joy in your business. Of all the consulting niches I’ve come across, Strategic Play Consultant Gary Ware’s is my favorite! S2 Ep 24Stop The Revenue Rollercoaster

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to stop the revenue rollercoaster. You'll never be able to grow your business joyfully if you're constantly fighting the peaks and valleys of feast and famine. I see the revenue rollercoaster happening with people like my client Liz. Liz has many small clients and one huge client. After closing that huge client, she’d coast for so long that she’d start to feel the famine. Another client, Katie, had a really great spring and signed on tons of new business. Busy with delivery, her firm then fell into a lull, and that lull is starting to really stress her out. Sound familiar? In this episode, I’m sharing why the revenue rollercoaster happens in our businesses and what we can do about it. S2 Ep 23Video Marketing is Hot!

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to grow your business with videos. Video marketing is effective, efficient, and powerful — and yet so many consultants hesitate to use video at all or as much as they should. There are many reasons for that, like… “Making videos is hard.” “Making videos isn’t convenient.” “There’s never enough time to make videos. I can’t fit that into my week.” “All the equipment, technology, editing, production…it feels overwhelming.” Sound familiar? I hear you. S2 Ep 22Visioning To Grow The Business You Want

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to grow your business by using visioning and vision statements. Visioning is about envisioning the future and then engineering your path towards it. When you see what you want to have happen in your business, you can get insights and ideas into how to build it. This technique has huge opportunities, but a lot of people aren’t using it. And those that are using it, I find, aren’t using it to the great possibility that they could. Key areas discussed in this episode: Visioning puts you in a position of clarity, control, and decisiveness — and that leads to the kind of action that grows your business. S2 Ep 21Strategic Alliances

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to grow your business with strategic alliances. The truth is, there are not many shortcuts in business. You really just have to put in the work. Many people you might think of as overnight successes have been working for seven to ten years before you ever hear of them. With that being said, this is one of the few methods where you can quickly tap into someone else's audience and put yourself on a path to success faster than doing it on your own. If you have seven to ten strategic alliances, you could almost not do any other marketing and rely on them as referral sources. (You could, but don’t.) That’s how powerful strategic alliances are, and they’re an incredibly valuable foundation for your business. Key areas discussed in this episode: Listen to this episode to learn how to grow your business with strategic alliances wherever you get podcasts or click here to listen and subscribe: https://enlightenedmarketing.com/podcast/.

S2 Ep 20Grow Your Business with Case Studies

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to use case studies to build your business. Last week, I talked about getting results for your clients. This week, I’m sharing about how to promote those results and use them to grow your business. This is one of my favorite marketing techniques. I call it, “I’ll have what she’s having.” (You might remember this line from the movie “When Harry Met Sally”!) Case studies are detailed, informative stories of your clients’ success. They’re a much less salesy way to share your results, because they don’t just make claims about how amazing you are; instead, they document your results. Interestingly, potential clients often come away from reading a case study thinking how amazing you are, because the results conveyed it to them. That’s why you need to be creating and sharing case studies for your business. Key areas covered in this episode: ✍️A case study has credibility. It builds authority and a desire for readers to get those results for themselves. I share the process I use to develop case studies that you can use to grow your business. ✍️The exact format to use for your success story, including key questions to answer (and even why it matters what name you give your client in the story). ✍️Case studies can be the core marketing pieces in your business. I share the key thing to make sure your case study does so it’s actually effective. ✍️The different versions of your case study to create so you get the most out of it. ✍️Your case study shouldn’t feel like a marketing piece. I talk about how to make it feel more entertaining and educational instead. I answer some questions consultants have asked me about creating case studies (you can submit your own questions for a future episode by leaving me a voice message at enlightenedmarketing.com/podcast). Case studies are an incredible way to sell your work without selling it (and they’re fun to both read and write). Listen to this episode to learn how to grow your business through strategic case studies wherever you get podcasts or click here to listen and subscribe: https://enlightenedmarketing.com/podcast/.

S2 Ep 19Results that Get More Clients

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to build your business by getting results for your clients. Years ago when I was in the third year of my consulting business, I was taking a marketing class. One of the assignments was to write down some success stories. I was horrified to realize that I didn't have any success stories. And the reason I didn't have them? My clients weren’t unhappy, but they weren’t implementing the work. When I followed up with them to find out how things were going, they would say, “Oh, well, ah, you know. Yeah, thanks. That was great. Our priorities have changed. We're working on something else right now.” Realizing that was both frustrating and eye-opening. I started to dedicate myself to ensuring that if I started a project, it was going to have success at the end of it. That caused me to learn a lot about what it really takes to get results. I’m known for helping people add $100K to their business in a single offer. I'm known for turning $400K proposals into $800K yeses. I’m known for helping a client add $600K in the first year of working with me, for helping another who was charging $5,000 per client before and now has just sold another $6,000 per month engagement. I could go on and on. I'm talking about the results that I'm getting for my clients and that my clients are getting through working with me. That is what builds my business, and it does more than almost any marketing messaging that I can do. Key areas discussed in this episode: Listen to this episode to grow your business with great results wherever you get podcasts or click here to listen and subscribe: https://enlightenedmarketing.com/podcast/.

S2 Ep 18Strategic Visibility

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to grow your business with strategic visibility. Is your business brand visible? When your audience needs a leadership consultant or a finance person or help with their IT, do you come to mind for them?Being visible is a key way to grow your business. Because your audience doesn’t have psychic powers. They’re not going to just find you one day. You need to make the work easy for them - by being visible. Here are some of the key areas covered in this episode:Why you’re not as visible as you should be (there are tons of limiting beliefs that go into this) and how that’s actually (surprise!) a self-sabotage strategy. You want to have a high top of mind awareness in your niche for your audience. I break down what that means and how to get there. You don’t need to be everywhere, but you do need to be way, way more visible than you think. I deliver the “where and how” on this. The visibility strategy my former employer, The Coca-Cola Company, used that you can apply to your business. You want to build your identity as the go-to person for your people in your niche. I share some actionable strategies to use to create a body of work that begins to teach people who you are.I hope this podcast episode helps you shift your beliefs and actions around visibility, so you can help more people, have more fun, and make more money.Listen to this episode to learn how to grow your business through strategic visibility wherever you get podcasts or click here to listen and subscribe: https://enlightenedmarketing.com/podcast/.

My team makes me a better version of myself.” Those are the beliefs that I want you to nurture and cultivate in yourself. S1 Ep 11Pricing Your Consulting Services With Samantha Hartley

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to price your consulting services. There are many ways to price your services. When I was a brand new baby consultant, the client asked me what my daily rate was. I didn’t have one and had no idea how to come up with one. I had just gotten the price for some tickets for a vacation that were $1,050 a day. I thought, “That sounds like a good number.” It was a pretty random way to price something, but the client said yes. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Years later, I was trying to come up with a price for a new client. While touring the facility, the marketing manager revealed to me that the marketing budget the client had per year was $68,000, and that none of their marketing was doing anything. I thought, “Well, they're currently flushing $68,000 a year down the drain. So I think $60,000 would be a good amount to spend with me.” As it turned out, they agreed. Flash forward to very recently when I had a new coaching client who invested $60,000 with me. She said it was the most that she'd spent for anything in her life except her house, and she got a really good return on that investment. But what I think was important is that she had been struggling with not charging enough for her services and working with clients who were too small. She went right out, got a client and told them that the price was $60,000. By investing with me, she'd expanded her idea of her own value and she was able to embody it. And this client said yes to her. “Your price should honor you for the work you put in and for your value.” Pricing is both an art and a science. When it comes down to it, price communicates the value of what you’re offering. In this episode of the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, you’ll learn: Pricing is both an art and a science, and getting it right helps you have a more profitable, joyful business (which is my wish for you!). Listen to this episode wherever you get podcasts or click here to listen and subscribe: https://enlightenedmarketing.com/podcast/.

S1 Ep 10Self-Care: The Secret Of Successful Consultants

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to create a more profitable and joyful life and business with consistent self-care. Do you remember several years back when millennials were first of the age that they could start to make their own decisions in their lives? A lot of them decided instead of going to college or work right away that they would travel. So we had all these millennials who were traveling the world and backpacking, working, or doing freelance work from Thailand. I remember that at the time, the boomers went crazy. But millennials were reacting against the boomer mindset of spending your whole life working, then traveling when you’re old. From our Gen X point of view, my husband and I loved what millennials were doing and thought it was awesome! The mindset millennials bring into our world is the opportunity to choose living for now instead of living for later, pursuing joy first, and then working later. As entrepreneurs, that’s an incredibly important belief for us to look at. You can probably quote me 100 memes right now about how we’re supposed to hustle and grind right now, so we can enjoy our success later. There’s an idea that to have the business and life you want to have, you need to be putting in 60, 80, 100 hours a week. However: “There's a huge risk that before you achieve the thing you want to achieve, you burn out.” If you want to be profitable and joyful, I don’t think that’s the way to work. There are other ways to have a business that creates more money and more joy, and that’s what we’re exploring in this episode of the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast. Listen to this episode to discover: Whatever your relationship is with self-care, I think this episode will help inspire a deeper practice to help you thrive in your life and your work. Because when you are not at your best, everyone loses - and when you are at your best, we all win. Watch it on YouTube: https://bit.ly/PJConYT or listen wherever you get podcasts! S1 Ep 9Crafting $100K Offers

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to craft high-ticket offers. High-ticket can mean different things in different industries. In the Internet marketing world, for example, a high ticket offer is anything over $5,000. But in the consulting world, $100,000 isn't actually that large size of the engagement. I've worked personally on helping clients to craft offers from $100K to $500K to $800K. It’s not about coming up with some random high number and throwing it out there. What’s important is that you’re able to fully stand in the value of what you're charging and really feeling that you’re embodying that value. “Working at your highest level, working at the level for which you might charge what seems like an outrageous amount of money could help you to make a world-changing impact.” That’s what I’m teaching you in today’s episode of the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast. S1 Ep 8Selling With Integrity: Beliefs

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to sell with integrity and finally feel good about selling. I was inspired to talk about this by a sales meeting I had with someone this week where I was in the position of being sold to. I'd brought my husband to hear about a program I was super excited about, and I asked the person running it to tell us a little more about the program. He stammered for a minute and then said, “Well, this isn't a predatory call.” I thought that’s weird. Why would he use that word? Because I’m really excited and I want to enroll. The program had three levels, and I asked him to tell us more about that and so he did. Eventually, I said, ‘Wow, this is so exciting. When can I enroll and how does that work?” He said again, “Well, this isn’t a predatory call.” Again, I was just stopped in my tracks. I thought I'm not a gazelle. I don't feel like I'm being preyed upon. I came to this to hear more about the program because I want to buy it. It was clear that he really didn't want to look as if he were selling us something. But what happened was actually worse: His limiting beliefs about selling were getting in the way of his ability to explain the program to me and my ability to make a decision about whether this is the right next step for us to take. We can’t even start talking about selling with integrity until we understand our limiting beliefs. That’s where we start in this episode - with working through your limiting beliefs about selling. In this episode, you’ll discover: If you’ve ever said, “I hate selling,” this episode is for you. I can’t promise that you’ll LOVE selling when you’re done listening. But I do think you’ll have a fresh perspective. Watch it on YouTube: https://bit.ly/PJConYT or listen wherever you get podcasts! You can also subscribe and listen here: https://bit.ly/PJCpod.

S1 Ep 7Jaw-Dropping Self-Introduction with Samantha Hartley

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to answer the frequently-asked question, “What do you do?” Over the last several years, there's been a backlash against elevator pitches as being inauthentic, awkward, and reducing someone to their profession. Of course, there are many facets to a person, not just their work. But we still need to be able to explain our work and the value of our work to others so they can recognize if they need to work with us or want to refer us to someone else. Our answer to this question should engender goodwill and create a conversation with someone who has taken the courtesy of asking us the question in the first place by taking an interest in us. I’ve talked in past episodes about how I answer the question, “What do you do?” Today’s episode is a deep dive into the specifics and how you can put this message together for yourself. When someone asks, “What do you do?” they’re really asking, “Do I need to know you?” It’s harsh but realistic. We're all busy. We only have so much brain space and so much capacity for new colleagues, contacts, and friends. What people want to know is: can you offer them or someone they know the value? Can they offer value to you? They’re figuring out if they need to know you and how you can fit in their lives. The proof that they do need to know you is in your response to that question. If you answer it right, their jaws can fly open or their eyebrows can go up and they may say, “Oh, wow, interesting,” or “Can you help me?” or “Can I have your card?” The truth is, the right answer to this question can be very profitable. S1 Ep 6How To Create A Business Model For Your Consulting Business

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to create a sustainable, profitable business model for your consulting business. In an address at the University of Arkansas, Sam Walton said, “If you have four, you’ll never be poor.” He was referring to revenue streams, and I agree with him. In this episode, I’m going to talk about the four kinds of revenue streams that you can put together in your business. There should always be a lot of ways for people to pay you to help them. That’s basically what “never be poor” means: make it easy for people to pay you money and get your services. A business model describes all the ways your business makes money and revenue streams refer to the products or services that you provide to your audience. We’re in a time when we need to get creative about serving people because some of the things we've been doing might not be working anymore. There are absolutely opportunities out there. So let’s talk about those opportunities! S1 Ep 5Get Better Results & Profit More With Transformational Engagements

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this week’s episode, you’ll learn how to use what I call “transformational engagements” to deliver more value, get better results and finally get off the revenue roller coaster in your consulting business. When I first started as a consultant, I was frustrated because I would go in and do a project to solve a particular problem. Like most consultants, I’d work on a project basis, whether from six months to an ongoing basis. That’s all well and good! But my frustration was that I would solve these problems, then go away and come back to ask, “Hey, can I follow up with you? I want to hear how things are going.” A lot of times the organizations would say, "What? We've moved on. We've actually kind of forgotten about that.” In short, my work didn't get implemented. It was my fault for not staying on long enough to do this, but the clients would drop the ball and not implement. "Shift the way you look at your work from quick-solving problems to providing strategically relevant long-term results to your clients." This was sometimes because organizational priorities changed and sometimes because it was just too hard and they didn't want to admit to me that implementing the work wasn't happening. But I was not going to stand for that. A little while later, I began to create offers and conduct my work in such a way that I could better ensure that the results of the work the client and I did together would stick. So how do you get client results to stick? The answer is transformational engagements. In this episode, you’ll find out what a transformational engagement is and how it differs from the way you’re working now. You’ll also learn: · How to get client results to stick· The types of work you need to do to get off the revenue rollercoaster and create consistent income· Exactly how to pitch this kind of high-ticket transformational work to your clients · How my clients have transitioned to working this way and how you can, too Loved this episode? S1 Ep 3Branding Your Consulting Business with Samantha Hartley

The core question in creating your brand for your business: what do you want to be known for? You definitely don't want to be known as someone who bites off more than you can chew. Keeping the promise of your brand is crucial. In this week's episode, Samantha Hartley shares her illuminating strategies for building a successful brand. Part One of ‘Branding Your Consulting Business’ Some small businesses don't use the term brand. There are companies that talk about brands multiple times in a day. Not just referring to specific individual brands, but actually to the job of what a brand was doing, what it was communicating, whether this action we were taking was in alignment with the brand. But things have changed a lot over the years. One of the things that millennials have brought us is a generation of influencers. It's not only millennials that are influencers. But before them, we didn't have as much personal branding work. “Work with a broader audience or a specific niche.” — Samantha Hartley (13:07-13:12) Personal brands can be created for your career, for influencers, your business, and more. A brand creates expectations of what that identity is going to be and the experience that you're going to have. How does that apply to you as a consultant or building a consultancy? You can decide what you want your business identity to be, and you can make that and then communicate it. If you don't, it will be created anyway, accidentally, but you won't necessarily be able to control as well or influence what that identity will be. So, you definitely want to take control and create your brand with intention. Niche and specialty are also aspects of the brand that you can work with and incorporate into your brand. Specialty is that thing you do, which you're amazingly good at. It's a subset of all of the aspects of things that you could do. Second is the niche, meaning the audience you are targeting. Let's say, food companies or food manufacturers. For instance, if you are a crisis communications PR person for food companies, that's a particular niche. It's highly advisable to focus on your work. It makes it really easy for you to get known for a specialty. You can see how you stand out from all the other PR people. When someone calls you, they're going to know precisely who you are. If you're a marketing consultant, narrow that down to your specific work. For example, business growth for female consultants. You can stay a generalist and work with a niche, or you can be a specialist who works with a broader audience than a specific niche. Part Two of ‘Branding Your Consulting Business’ When deciding what you want to be known for, think of popular brands that you know. When you think about those brands, and you bring them to mind, what are the words that you associate with them? What are the experiences that you associate with them? One of the ways that you can decide what you're going to be known for is by looking at perfect clients. Who are the perfect clients that you're going to work with? What are the problems that you want to get known for solving? What kind of solutions do you bring, or specifically how do you do that? How you present solutions is a thing you want to be known for. What's also important is setting an expectation. Your brand is a promise that the work you do fulfills. The work that you do is actually delivering on that promise. It's fulfilling it. We decide what we want people to expect from us. You create boundaries in your brand. You don't want people to expect certain things from us we...

S1 Ep 2How to Find Clients for Your Consulting Business

Many entrepreneurs don't realize that business growth requires working with perfect clients. That’s the key to sustaining a profitable and joyful business. How perfect your clients are, how aligned they are, and how they bring out the best in you. That is 100% what makes or breaks your business. The million-dollar question is, how and where do you find them? Do you want to turn even your former employer as your client? Let's make that possible! In this week's episode, Samantha Hartley talks about finding clients for your consulting business.Part One of ‘How to Find Clients for Your Consulting Business’How do you find perfect clients? Simple. Clarity about who they are. Knowing who they are is about eighty percent of finding them. By formulating an excellent question, you're seventy-five percent of the way there to answering that question. Stay clear on who you're looking for. They're out there for you, and you can find them. People who read their goals every single day eventually achieve them. Because they keep these things in mind. You keep your mind actively thinking. You must have the conviction to find these clients you're compelled to serve. It connects to the idea that your perfect clients are out there. They're hoping, wishing, and praying for you to show up. They're tormented by whatever's going on with them. You can solve it for them. Someone out there urgently needs what you do.“Your attitude, mindset, and energy affect how you conduct your marketing.” — Samantha Hartley (04:22-04:27)Have confidence. Be confident that your client is out there. That you can connect with them. If you start any marketing effort with confidence, you must believe that things are going to work for you. Be intentional and be open to receiving more clients. Your attitude, mindset, and energy affect the way you conduct your marketing. The next thing that you need to prepare is your message. People are going to say, what do you do? They're going to think, why do I need to know you? We need to be ready and prepared with a concise, clear, and compelling message to communicate with them.Preparation is necessary before meeting perfect clients. Maximize opportunities. Many people struggling to grow a consulting business are either avoiding or overlooking the necessary things. Success requires returning to the most straightforward, basic marketing techniques.Part Two of ‘How to Find Clients for Your Consulting Business’It's great to send out a Facebook ad and reach thousands of people, and create a sales conversation to convert. But even in person with the perfect client, you must know exactly what to say, what to ask, how to engage that person, to get them interested in their services. You’ll feel amazing when you have the opportunity to have a face to face conversation with a potential client. Watch their energy to see how they seem when they talk about what their challenges are. Those kinds of fundamental pieces of feedback are critical. There's so much that you can learn from face to face interaction. That's why prioritizing offline marketing and offline connections are vital. You can see that when you deliver your marketing message, you're going to see a lot of micro-expressions.The good thing about offline marketing is that anyone can do it. You don't have to have excellent technical skills. You don't have to have a high-speed Internet connection. You don't have to understand the ins and outs of social media. You can walk out your door and go and connect with potential clients and listen to them. It's very gratifying because the things that work offline will work online, and the things that don't work offline very often don't work online either.You...

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to find perfect clients. The key to having a profitable, joyful business is working exclusively and only with perfect clients. Now, this may seem obvious. Let's talk about the areas that the upcoming episodes will cover. “It is essential to work with clients who are considered a perfect match for your business.” — Samantha Hartley (00:43-00:53) First of all, find perfect clients. When you work with perfect clients who are a perfect match, your business becomes incredibly joyful and profitable. They bring out your genius. You're going to have access to divine downloads. You get to develop talents and skills with perfect clients. Working exclusively with perfect clients is one of the most important rules. Often, consultants react to what their clients need. Their clients come to them and place an order. You should have a signature approach or programs. That's one thing you can develop. You will have the opportunity to learn different marketing strategies when it comes to creating offers. These offers range anywhere from $100,000 to $800,000. This includes real-world examples of how they got developed and how you can do the same. Part Two of ‘What the Podcast is About’ The next thing is the brand and messaging. When you have an offer, you want to notice who responds to it immediately. Branding is all about what you want to be known for. For making sure that you communicate clearly to those who are looking for you. “Selling with integrity means having someone tell you their needs and meeting them right where they are.” — Samantha Hartley (02:32-02:48) The next aspect is selling with integrity. For many consultants, selling feels like a chore, but it's way beyond that. Selling is incredibly intimate because it's a way that you can bring your true self to this moment. Someone's telling you their hopes, dreams, fears, and what they want for their business. You have the opportunity to meet them where they are. Encourage them to work with you. One of the goals of this podcast is to help you feel better about the sales process. Even if you know sales, get ready to learn additional skills and tools that will develop the kind of mindset ready for success. Having a mindset for success is critical to be more successful with your clients. Hopefully, you will subscribe to this podcast and share it with your friends, family, and colleagues.
