Ep 1768Packers Weekly #39: The Super Bowl Window is WIDE OPEN for the Packers!

If you want to maximize your enjoyment of the draft, don't get hung up on hoping for players and enjoy watching one of the best GMs in the league make your Green Bay Packers a better football team. One of the things that makes Gute such a good GM is the way he finds opportunities that are less than obvious. Moving back 4 spots, picking up 2 additional picks, and still getting your guy, may seem simple but it's how he finds players like Dontayvion Wicks and Karl Brooks. He could've taken Cooper at 41 and everyone would've celebrated it, and no one would've questioned why he didn't move back and pick up additional picks. Instead he still gets Cooper and gains 2 additional picks that he can trade or use. You could end the draft now with just these 5 picks and this team is better. Enjoy the rest of the ride on day-3, Packers fans! Go Pack Go!Be sure to join Myles Teteak and Tim Hamilton every week as they breakdown what’s going on in the world of the Green Bay Packers. Ep 1763Packers Weekly #38: Your Essential Packers 2024 NFL Draft PREVIEW

After all the talk, film breakdowns, positional analysis, we are finally doing our own mock draft to see who might be around when the Packers are on the clock. What unexpected moves should Packers fans be prepared for? Gute is never fully predictable. Just when you think you are 100% certain that he wouldn't sign a free agent RB at the top of the market, he goes off and signs Josh Jacobs. When Gute says he would like to have 13 or 14 picks in this draft, I want to roll my eyes, but he just might do it. There hasn't been a GM better at drafting than Gutey over the past 2 -3 years. It may be a wild ride, but Gute knows where he's taking us... straight to NOLA. Ep 1760Packers Weekly #37: Who Are The Packers NOT Drafting?

Going into his 15th season coaching, Marty Jenkins is currently coaching DBs at West DePere HS. He joins us for the QB episode of our NFL prospect breakdown, and so it's only appropriate that we also talk about other players the Packers will NOT be drafting this year. Regardless of how you rank the QB prospects in this draft class, the Packers are not likely to be involved with these guys until day-2 at the very earliest, but more likely day-3. The Bears fans have the unique pleasure of bickering about who they think is the best guy to be their team's next QB. We have clearly established that Packers fans can sit back, relax, and let Gutey cook. There may be some smoke coming out of Gutey's Kitchen already with the chatter about Zach Tom potentially moving to center. Is this a real move, or is this meant to contribute to the fog-of-war leading up to the draft? Draft Day is almost here, Packers fans! Ep 1757Packers Weekly #36: The Packers DREAM Draft Scenario

It seems like every year throughout the pre-draft process we naturally gravitate towards "OUR" guys. The guys we end up liking the most for one reason or another. We're diving into our list of OUR guys and digging into what makes them our guys. Will OUR guys be part of the Packers' dream draft scenario? What is the Packers dream draft scenario anyway? Enjoy the luxury of this being a tough question to answer. The Packers have set themselves up to truly draft the best player available (unless that ends up being a QB in round 1...). With 11 picks, and not necessarily enough room on this roster for 11 rookies, hopefully Gute finds more quality than quantity. Ep 1755Packers Weekly #35: DEBATE: Who Is The Top Safety Prospect For The Packers?

The most debated position among Packers fans right now might be the Safety position. There isn't a consensus top Safety in the draft. Some of the early favorites tested poorly and their perceived draft stock suffered accordingly. So who is the top Safety prospect in this draft class for the Packers? Don't sleep on day-3 of the NFL Draft, especially at WR and CB. There will be impact players taken off the board on day-3, and Gute is one of the best in the league at finding impact players on day-3. To discuss it all and more, we're joined by Coach Justin Budiac. Myles and Justin were teammates on the football team at UW-Oshkosh. Justin has been coaching at Fond Du Lac HS for 12 years, and has had the opportunity to coach some exceptional athletes. One of those players is particularly popular in the state of Wisconsin, and is a very interesting prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft class. Ep 1752Packers Weekly #34: Did the NFL Just Ban Tackling???

Whether you agree that the "hip-drop" tackle is dangerous or not, this ban just gave the refs exponentially more power to control the outcome of games. In a time where some games are borderline unwatchable because of the officiating, we need to equip the refs to be better, not worse. There is absolutely an argument to be made that the players need to be better trained how to tackle, and there is absolutely an argument to be made that some of these tackles are causing unnecessary injuries. That said, if this were really in the name of player safety, why is there not a real conversation about the field surfaces that are also causing unnecessary injuries? Changing field surfaces costs money. Changing rules doesn't. We got some interesting nuggets of information from Gute in his latest interview that may give us some insight into future moves. Who are the top CBs in this draft class??? At this point it really just depends on who you ask. How deep does this WR class actually go??? DEEP. It will be very difficult for the Packers to get out of day-2 without taking a WR. Ep 1750Packers Weekly #33: Packers Offseason Drama in Full Swing

After making a big splash in day-1 of free agency the Packers have cooled off on the open market in favor of re-signing some of their own guys. AJ Dillon was probably the biggest surprise, adding experience and depth to the RB room that is likely to have at least one rookie. On his way out, De'Vondre Campbell stirs up Packers fans on twitter with his explanation of why he didn't play better in 2022 and 2023. Some fans took this as a shot against the organization, but he was very clear, his shots were directed at select coaches (Joe Barry) only. He was clear about his appreciation for the organization and the fans. We're going deeper on this RB draft class. Don't sleep on it, there is a lot of talent in this class, and difference-makers will be available all the way through round-7. The draft will be here before we know it! Saying farewell to longtime Packer greats Aaron Jones, David Bahktiari, and DeVondre Campbell (not totally unexpected), Brian Gutekunst swung for the fences and brought in the top free agent running back AND safety. How will the offense fare with Josh Jacobs at running back? Is safety still a draft target now that Xavier McKinney is manning the backside of the defense? Where do we go from here? Listen in as CD, Kelly, and Jersey Al talk you through the most intense opening of free agency in years for the Packers.Be sure to join C.D., Al and Kelly on their regular jaunts through the Packers Universe. Ep 1746Packers Weekly #32: Most Polarizing Day EVER in Packers Free Agency?

Gute woke up on March 11, 2024 and chose violence. We shouldn't be surprised by anything at this point. One thing you cannot argue with, Gute is not afraid to make any move. Like it or not, he's usually right when he makes these difficult decisions. While two all-time greats exit Lambeau, the Packers just added two young playmaking leaders on the offense and defense - Josh Jacobs and Xavier McKinney. While Jacobs was a pretty big surprise, most Packers fans had their eye on McKinney, and in a rare occurrence actually got the free agent they wanted! Both players are seemingly entering their primes, and playing at the highest level of their respective positions. Saying goodbye to Aaron Jones and David Bakhtiari was never going to be easy or enjoyable. However, the Packers probably have the best young nucleus of any team in the NFL right now, and they still have 11 draft picks to add even more talent to this young roster. Strap in, Packers fans. This is a new era of Packers football, and it's looking like it's going to be a lot of fun. Ep 1743Packers Weekly #31: NFL Scouting Combine REVIEW - Future Packers

No doubt one of the stars of the show this year was Xavier Worthy, breaking the record for the fastest 40-yard time. Worthy was one of two WRs that met with the Packers at the Combine. The other was his Longhorn teammate Adonai Mitchell. Combine meetings don't necessarily mean a whole lot, but it's not nothing. We'll go through a list of guys that got our attention at the Combine, and who we think the Packers actually might be more interested in. We aren't going to bore you with endless mock draft simulations and meaningless predictions. We're going position-by-position to highlight who we think is on the Packers radar. Ep 1739Packers Weekly #30: NFL Scouting Combine PREVIEW

If you can win a press conference, Hafley won his first press conference as the Packers DC. There was a lot of emphasis on players being able to react and play without thinking too much. It will be very interesting to see which positions they prioritize in the draft to fill out the skillsets Haffley is looking for but may not have on the roster yet. Might we see a similar draft strategy to what Ted did in the 2009 draft? This week at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis there is a lot to be gained, and maybe not as much for some. Will much be changed about how the top prospects are viewed? Probably not. Will some lesser known guys start to make some noise? Absolutely. We've got some small ball guys to watch out for, and who stands to gain the most from a strong performance this week. Ep 1739Packers Weekly #29: Digging Into the Trenches of the 2024 NFL Draft

The final (critical) piece to the 2024 Packers coaching staff has been added. Introducing new Strength and Conditioning Coach, Aaron Hill. Formerly Assistant S&C coach for the 49ers, Hill takes on the responsibility of keeping the hamstrings strong in Green Bay. He's been part of the team that has kept CMC healthy/strong after his string of injury issues with the Panthers. A player familiar to Packers fans, Kurt Benkert, has nothing but good things to say about Hill after his time in San Francisco. Hopefully he can step in to improve the soft tissue injuries. We're diving back into the Edge Rushers and Offensive Tackles in this episode. Focusing specifically more on day-2 guys that have characteristics the Packers historically have preferred. While it's fun to dream about our favorite players wearing the green and gold, some of them simply aren't "Gutey guys". Tune in next week for a Scouting Combine preview! Ep 1735Packers Weekly #27: Super Bowl or Bust with a New Defense?

Jeff Hafley appears to have a very different philosophy than Joe Barry in almost every way he can. This new defensive staff appears to be a press man CB's dream. One thing seems certain, the aggression level is going up. With the offense looking primed to continue the success they found in the second half of 2023, if the defense can improve, even in the slightest, this team may be headed for a Super Bowl next season. If that sounds crazy to you, then consider us the leaders of the nut house. One thing we can all agree on right now, it's nice to have an offseason without major drama brewing in Green Bay. Ep 1732Packers Weekly #26: How Will You Remember the 2023 Packers Season?

All the boxes that needed to get checked, have been checked. Hiring a new DC doesn't count, because that's the first item on 2024's list. You have a franchise QB, a future LT and RT, playmakers on both sides of the ball, and as a bonus they all have playoff experience now. It may have been a disappointing end, but don't let that make you forget the overall success the season was. If that isn't enough, the GM might be the best in the league right now. The way he's drafted the past two years should make everyone very excited about the talent that will be added to this group that was only a few plays aways from playing for another Lombardi. But as the Packers lick their wounds, there's a bright future ahead for them. Ep 1729Packers Therapy #452: Packers Dead and Barry-ed in San Francisco

"When all the laughter dies in sorrow…” While the end of the Packers season is not as fraught as the Lance Rentzel memoir, it certainly stung. But why? Green Bay was playing with the proverbial “house money,” was it not? The post-season was a surprise gift, right? So, shouldn't this one be easily set aside as just a learning experience on the way to certain improvement next season and a string of playoff appearances thereafter? Like many Packers fans, Chris and Dave struggle with accepting the loss in that manner, knowing that the Niners game — and another appearance in the NFC Championship Game — was there for the taking…and that the future is far from certain.PROGRAMMING NOTE: Chris and Dave plan to do a “Season Wrap” pod in a few weeks. Ep 1728Packers Weekly #25: Ugly End to a Beautiful Beginning

Playing with house money. There's no pressure. We're not even supposed to be here. Right? That sentiment was valid going into the 49ers game. As soon as we saw that the Packers could actually win the game, all of that went out the window. If you're eager to compare this playoff loss to a previous playoff loss, look no further than the 2009 loss to the Cardinals. The window is opening, not closing. The Packers just went toe-to-toe with the bully of the NFC and will bring virtually the entire team back. One of the best GMs in the league has more draft capital than he needs. Nothing is guaranteed, but the future for this Packers team is as bright as any team in the league. Let's have some fun this offseason, Packers fans!
