Ep 1660Packers Weekly #10: Will Loyalty Be Matt LaFleur's Downfall?
There is no shortage of reasons this Packers team is going into the bye week with a losing record. Coaching is high on that list. If there's one thing the youngest roster in the league needs to be successful, it's good coaching.Matt LaFleur's start as the Packers head coach ranks among the best in history, but it's fair to wonder how much of that success the former QB is responsible for.We saw the special teams unit be historically bad when LaFleur tried putting one of his buddies at ST coordinator. He has since corrected that by hiring one of the best ST coordinators in the business. Now the OC and DC need the same treatment. LaFleur can't will his friends to be successful. He needs a DC that can get the most out of his players' ability, and he needs an OC that knows how to develop a young QB.It doesn't look like he has either of those right now. Will Matt LaFleur do what he did with the ST coordinator, and go find better options at DC and OC, or will he live and die by loyalty? Happy bye week, Packers fans!Go Pack Go!Be sure to join Myles Teteak and Tim Hamilton every week as they breakdown what’s going on in the world of the Green Bay Packers. Ep 1660Packers Weekly #9: Blame It On The Blueprint: Coaching Loses To The Lions
On a short week against a very good Lions defense, this Packers coaching staff looked like they threw the gameplan together like a high school student procrastinating that big paper. The offense didn't even attempt to run the ball until their 3rd series of the game. That's not a winning gameplan with a HOF QB, much less with Love.It didn't get much better from there. The defense was outmatched and once again, had no answer for the run game. Since the loss to the Lions, Joe Barry has admitted that he can't just sit in a nickel and hope for the best when his defense is getting bulldozed... I would tend to agree. In fact, I learned that playing Madden when I was 12.Hopefully the DC quickly learns how to strategize against different opposing offenses, but that's a big hope. We might be better off hoping Matt LaFleur finds a new DC after this season. So what's the silver lining? This team is young and talented. We should see the talent grow every week despite the gameplan. The Raiders should be a good opportunity to clean things up and get back on track.Go Pack Go!Be sure to join Myles Teteak and Tim Hamilton every week as they breakdown what’s going on in the world of the Green Bay Packers. Ep 1659Cheesehead Radio #321: All Right, Everybody, Let's Chill the F Out
In the words of Starlord from the MCU movies, its time that Packers fan calm down and take account of this 2-2 Green Bay team that has looked great at times, while also looked hapless at others. Is the world truly crumbling, as Packers Twitter/X/TwiX seemed to believe in the dark moments following a bitter 34-20 loss to the Lions at Lambeau Field? Kelly and CD go through the best postulates and tests them in the crucible to tell you whether they are valid or not.Be sure to join C.D., Al and Kelly on their regular jaunts through the Packers Universe. Ep 1658Packers Therapy # 434: Roaring Defeat: A Packer’s Pride Wounded
In this wild episode, we’re not lion when we say the Packers were absolutely clawed apart in a 34-20 mauling by the Detroit Lions. We pounce on the soft underbelly of the Packers' defense, which proved to be as intimidating as a sleeping cub. The offensive line? More like the defensive prey, easily hunted and conquered. We’re not kitten around as we roar with both laughter and frustration at Matt LaFleur’s kittenish approach and Joe Barry’s seemingly catatonic strategies. Amidst the jungle of critiques, the enchanting tunes of Meg 2 and Taylor Swift prowl in, their melodies a brief escape from the savannah of defeat. Ep 1655Packers Weekly #8: Growing Pains Were Inevitable, Fourth Quarter Comebacks Were Not
While most Packers fans are waiting with a short fuse to have a reason to want to see Joe Barry fired, the defense was the strength of the team on Sunday against the Saints. Credit where credit is due, Joe Barry and the defense overcame adversity of their own playing without key players, and kept the game within reach for the offense. We all knew good complimentary football would be necessary to overcome growing pains this season. The win over the Saints was a microcosm of that.Jordan Love wasn't perfect, but he didn't have to be. He demonstrated the ability to put this team on his back and do what it takes to get the win. There aren't many teams overcoming a 17-0 deficit in the 4th quarter to find a way to win.Enjoy this, Packers fans. The Vikings are winless, the Bears are actually broken, and we're watching the next era of Packers football grow before our eyes. Ep 1654Packers Therapy # 433: Who Dat Under the Packer's Cleats? Oh, Just the Saints!
In this whirlwind episode, we tackle the big questions of the Beatification Beatdown at Lambeau: Can Jordan Love’s epic comeback be likened to the sheer madness of The House on the Rock? As we dive deep into betting lines and the raging debate over that 2-point conversion, we give a tip of the cap to Rashan Gary and ponder if Jerry Kramer's 'Run to Win' might've inspired that massive fourth quarter turnaround.Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/packerstherapyPayPal: [email protected] its first show in 2005, Packers Therapy is the longest-running Packers podcast on the Internet. Ep 1649Packers Weekly #7: Joe Barry and AJ Dillon Cant Take All Blame
Losing a game by one point opens the door for a lot of "if this, then that" talk. Are frustrations with Joe Barry and AJ Dillon valid? Yes.Do other factors need to be considered when trying to understand how the Packers lost to Atlanta? Absolutely. If Alexander and Walker come up with interceptions, we are probably praising Barry today for doing enough to win. If Jones is in the lineup, we are probably celebrating a win because he would've been able to keep those drives going late in the game. When you have the youngest roster in the NFL there are going to be a lot of learning moments. The fact that they were in position to be 2-0 after not having some of their key players available speaks to the potential of this team.Losing is never fun, but Packers fans don't need to panic after this one. There are plenty of reasons to be optimistic that the Packers will turn it around in the home opener against the Saints.Be sure to join Myles Teteak and Tim Hamilton every week as they breakdown what's going on in the world of the Green Bay Packers. Ep 1646Packers Therapy # 431: No McGough, No Problem for the Packers
Chris and Dave celebrate the genius timing (and only the timing) of the Rodgers trade by the Packers while empathizing with him being a geriatric 40 year old MVP athlete. The Packers win the opener against the Bears, and the duo discuss what the win means and if expectations should be tempered, while Chris adjusts to his new spotty internet at the old folks home.Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/packerstherapyPayPal: [email protected] its first show in 2005, Packers Therapy is the longest-running Packers podcast on the Internet. Ep 1644Packers Weekly #6: Credit Packers Coaches for Team's Hot Start
Matt LaFleur and his staff deserve a standing ovation for having this team ready for Week-1 in all phases. Were they perfect? No, but they didn't need to be perfect to demonstrate some of the potential this talented roster has. LaFleur had Love and that offense looking sharp, even without one of their biggest weapons - Christian Watson. Bisaccia had his rookie kicker and punter looking like seasoned vets. The return games showed promise, and the coverage units were solid. Bisaccia has taken what was a historically bad special teams unit two seasons ago, and turned it into what now looks like a strength of this team. Joe Barry seems to have done the impossible, and evolved into an effective DC. Not only did the scheme look effective against the Bears, the players looked absolutely fired up and dialed in. There was a lot to be excited about from this defense. Now... can they show that consistently throughout the season? Overall, credit to Matt LaFleur for having his staff aligned, and having this team prepared to win by 18 points over the Bears in Chicago. The MLF for COTY campaign has officially begun! Also, DA BEARS STILL SUCK! Be sure to join Myles Teteak and Tim Hamilton every week as they breakdown what's going on in the world of the Green Bay Packers. Ep 1636Packers Weekly # 3: Will Successful Joint Practices Lead To Week-1 Success?
Two weeks, two games, and joint practices with two different teams can lead to a wide range of outcomes. While the Packers didn't win every joint practice, or both preseason games, maybe they didn't need to win in order to come out of training camp prepared to beat the Bears in Week 1. After all, competition breeds success. We're all too familiar with how the Packers have started the regular season since 2020. To say they've come out flat is an understatement. Sure, they've rebounded each time, even last season (before eventually imploding), but losing to the Bears Week-1 this season cannot be an option. So far Matt LaFleur seems to have navigated the offseason and training camp very well, and we think these joint practices might be part of the plan to end the streak of losing in Week-1.Be sure to join Myles Teteak and Tim Hamilton every week as they breakdown what's going on in the world of the Green Bay Packers.
