DAN CRENSHAW | Ignorance and Outrage are the Enemy

E

Needless to say, there has been a tremendous amount of turmoil and division in America over the past several years. This isn't new in the history of the United States but it seems to me that we, as citizens, are more divided than we've ever been on a myriad of issues from foreign policy, to COVID restrictions and mandates, to gun legislation and healthcare, and everywhere in between. And, my guest today has a lot to say about these issues and more. And, not ironically, I'm sure people will be very divided on this conversation as well. His name is Representative Dan Crenshaw, a former Navy SEAL and Representative for the state of Texas. Today, we discuss the new COVID measures announced by President Biden last week, foreign affairs and the threat of terrorism (including everything happening in Afghanistan right now), why our emotional responses to these issues are getting us into trouble and putting us in danger, and why we all need to be more informed rather than ignorant on the most pressing issues of today. SHOW HIGHLIGHTS: Discussing the government response to COVID Balancing being empathetic with being rational Why get into politics and how does it change people Thoughts on leaving Afghanistan - what is an acceptable cost? Most people have not known war for 20 years, they have known peace Biden got lucky that the Taliban took over so quickly The proper way to look at healthcare We need more confidence in our arguments Want maximum health, wealth, relationships, and abundance in your life? ZUBY | Common Sense in Uncommon Times

E

Increasingly, it seems to be that we're losing much of the common sense that we, collectively, once possessed. Common sense has been replaced with quick sounds bites, "clapbacks" on social media, and manufactured outraged designed to drive clicks and capture eyeballs and attention. But my guest today is using his voice, social media, and any other platform available to share his common sense, rational approach to some of the world's most pressing concerns. His name is Zuby and I know many of you are already very familiar with his work. Today, we talk about the dangers of tribalism, the motives and intentions of our government overlords and elites, how to have real conversations that actually drive change, why empathy is crucial in dialogue, and how to recapture common sense in uncommon times. SHOW HIGHLIGHTS: You can only do so much thinking by yourself There are three ways to solve any conflict Effective communication is a super power We're all susceptible to group think What it means to live in a free society Fear and anxiety shuts down rational thinking The importance of understanding the perspectives of other people Focus the conversation on where we agree, rather than disagree Don't fall for media propaganda The bias is often hidden in what people "don't" say Being wrong is different than lying Everybody is a moral monster to someone else Want maximum health, wealth, relationships, and abundance in your life? MADISON CAWTHORN | Men, America, and Politics

E

I had the opportunity to visit with Representative Madison Cawthorn with my family in DC last week and, let me tell you, it did not disappoint. We got a chance to tour the Capitol Building and get a small glimpse inside the world of politics and DC. But we also had the chance to sit down in his office and throw down the podcast you're about to listen to. We talk about the world of politics, why, while politics is fast-paced, very little seems to get accomplished on the Hill, how we as men can be informed without immersing ourselves in the political arena and theater that comes with it, the world of outrage, and, at the end of the day, what we as men need to do to keep this country on track. SHOW HIGHLIGHTS: Most politicians come to DC with noble intentions Its important (and fun) to play the political game Term limits on congress Values-based rather than issue-based representation How to avoid corruption while being surrounded by it Don't be defined by your challenges Working with people you don't like The balance between speaking in a bold way and avoiding extremism Using a lack of a filter as strategy The benefits of surrounding yourself with people who will call you out Disappointment is the most challenging thing about being in DC What is the political leadership doing right? MICHAEL EASTER | Seek and Embrace Discomfort

E

Our innate pursuit of comfort is the enemy of achievement and, yet, we've failed collectively to keep our biological hardwiring to seek the path of least resistance in check. Why is that? Today, Michael and I discuss the damage of helicopter and "snow plow" parenting, the psychological programming that keeps us from achievement, the concept of Mysogi and embracing annual challenges, how a healthy relationship with death keeps people fulfilled, and ultimately what you can do to overcome the Comfort Crisis that permeates every fabric of society. SURESH MADHAVEN | The Role of Men in a Fatherless Society

E

If you turn on the news or any social media apps, you're likely to be met with a myriad of fantastic headlines, the latest political scandal, racial tensions, violence, or any number of issues these outlets use to get our attention. My guest today, Suresh Madhaven, and I begin to break down some of these issues and work towards unpacking and discussing solutions rather than focus on the outrage that is used against us. JAMES ALTUCHER | How to Skip the Line and Get Ahead Faster

E

We've all heard people say, "You've got to pay your dues" or the concept of the 10,000-hour rule. But what if it didn't have to be that way? What if you could skip the line, so to speak, and accelerate the results of your life while everyone else stands in line simply waiting for their turn. That's what my guest today, the one and only James Altucher, and I discuss – how to use the concept of 10,000 experiments, not 10,000 hours. We talk about why "stay in your lane" is bad advice, how to become the top 1% in your field much more efficiently, how to become an idea-generating machine, harnessing the power of "idea sex," and how to creatively add value to others so you can win faster. Most of you are probably aware of Matthew McConaughey and his new book, Greenlights. We talk about many important topics in this conversation and really hit on fatherhood as we're approaching Father's Day. KYLE CARPENTER | Live Worthy of Our Fallen

E

Men, I wanted to do something special today as next Monday is Memorial day and, after serving time in the military myself, I know how crucial it is that we remember our fallen warriors and honor the ultimate sacrifice they made to protect and preserve our way of life. So, I invited my friend and the youngest living Medal of Honor Recipient, Kyle Carpenter, back on the podcast to talk about his military service, transitioning from the military, and ultimately living a life worthy of the sacrifices of so many. If you don't know Kyle's story, he was as close to death as one person could be after jumping on a live grenade in Afghanistan to save his fellow Marines. All I ask is that you have a listen and stop sometime this week to think about how you are living your life and the millions of men and women who have died so that you can.
