Ep 178How Can We Believe? (That Jesus Really Meets Our Needs)
Today we continue our series of messages on the general subject of "How Can We Believe?" Last Sunday we asked, "How can we believe in a loving God, in a world of suffering?" Today is somewhat of a follow-up of where we were a week ago. We all have challenges that face us, whether they are physical in nature (illness) or maybe in some other manner, such as financial, strained relationships, job security, and many more. Perhaps you have asked the question, "How can we believe that Jesus really meets our needs?" This is our subject for today's message. Pray with me now, that God may speak to our hearts just at the point of our need. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 177How Can We Believe? (In a Loving God, in a World of Suffering)
We welcome you to our worship service today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach, S.C.When we hear about a person who has been stricken with a terrible disease, maybe even a life-threatening illness or a terminal sickness, our hearts go out to that person. And if that illness causes the person to have to endure great suffering which medicine cannot seem to help, it is often a normal reaction to ask, "Why, God, do You allow such suffering to continue?" Perhaps you have asked the question, "How can we believe in a loving God, in a world of suffering?" This is our subject for today's message. Pray with me now, that God may speak to our hearts just at the point of our need.Thank you for joining us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 176How Can We Believe? (That Everything Is Going to Work Out All Right)
Have you ever found yourself in a tight situation, "in hot water," and someone comes to you trying to help? Some of these well-meaning friends may be somewhat like Job's "comforters" in the Old Testament; they are more of a hurt than a help. One of the worn-out, trite expressions we hear in hard times is "Everything is going to work out all right." But will it? What can we learn from God's Word, the Bible, to give us something more to believe in than just saying, "Everything is going to work out all right." That is our subject for today.Thank you for joining us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 175How Can We Believe? (In God, in a Scientific Age)
For several Sundays here at Ocean Lakes our thinking has been on the general subject of faith and how we as Christians can have a firm faith on which to stand in these difficult days that surround us. Today we are beginning a series of messages, all on the subject of "How Can We Believe?" Today, the question is "How Can We Believe" (In God, in a Scientific Age?" It is an often-asked question. Our prayer is that God may speak His Word to us today as we look for solid answers.Thank you for joining us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 174Evidences of Our Faith
If a law-enforcement person, a coroner, medical examiner, or some other person of authority were to be called to a crime scene, one of the duties which would occupy their time and efforts would be to gather all the evidence possible about that situation. We have been thinking together for the past several Sundays about the subject of "Faith." Is there any evidence we as Christians can find which will support us as we seek to grow our faith? I think there is. That's our subject for today: "Evidences of Our Faith."Thank you for joining us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 173August 27th, 2023
Ep 172Top Priority - #2
Those of you who listen regularly to our podcast heard me say last Sunday that the subject of the sermon was "Top Priority." But if you stayed with me till the end of the message, you also heard me say that I didn't finish all I had planned to say. So - today's subject is "Top Priority - # 2." We will pick up right where we left off last week, as we continue to look at the most important issues of life. Will we finish today? Well, stay with us and we'll see.Thank you for joining us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 171Top Priority
What is the most important thing in your life? Is it your job, your house, your automobile, a special friend, your family, your clothes, your health, the money you have accumulated? Or maybe something else? If everything were to be taken from you except the one thing you cherish most, what would you want to keep? The answer to that would be what you call your "Top Priority." And that's the subject of today's message.Thank you for joining us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 170Faith That Faces Trouble
Last Sunday we concluded our series of messages on the subject of faith. However, today we are going to extend that subject by one more Sunday, as our topic this morning is "Faith That Faces Trouble." Last Sunday, we recalled the words of The Apostle Paul in his letter to the Ephesians, "Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.." God's servant, David, from the Old Testament put it this way: "For thou hast been a shelter for me, a strong tower from the enemy." When trouble comes our way, we all need that "strong tower" - a place to go. How wonderful it is to know that our loving heavenly Father provides that for us by giving us a sustaining faith when we face trouble! For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 169Faith That Withstands
Today we conclude our series of messages on the subject of faith. Every person in the world, whatever our place may be, needs a firm faith in God to face trials that come to us. The Apostle Paul wrote to the Ephesians, "Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might ... that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."How wonderful it is to know that our loving heavenly Father is able to help us by giving us a faith that withstands. And that's our subject for today.Thank you for joining us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 168Faith That Saves
Last Sunday we continued our series of messages on the subject of faith, as we looked at some kinds of faith that are not good enough to save us, to put us in a right relationship with God. We mentioned things like blind, unreasonable faith, misplaced faith, and just "faith" - period as not being sufficient to save us. Admittedly, that sounded a bit negative. So let's come today to consider "Faith That Saves." This is the good news that God has for everyone who has ears to hear and a heart to receive.Thank you for joining us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 167Faith That Does Not Save
Last Sunday we began our series of messages on the general subject of faith. We will begin today's message with a quote from the poet, Edgar Guest, who says "And only he may stand serene/who has a faith on which to lean." That's true, and we all can probably agree with that idea. But did you know that there is a kind of faith which does NOT save us? What does the Bible have to say about this? God has something to tell us through His Word, and so let's spend these next few minutes listening to Him.Thank you for joining us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 166Where Is Your Faith?
We welcome you to our worship service today from Ocean Lakes FamilyCampground in Myrtle Beach, S. C. Today we are beginning a short series of messages on the general subject of faith. This is a word which we have often heard and used, not only in church or religious settings, but it is a word which is common in many other ways. Some parents even give their infant daughters this beautiful name. But today we are asking the question, "Where Is Your Faith?" Hopefully, we can come this morning to a better understanding of what this is all about.Thank you for joining us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 165Patriotic Celebration
Today our podcast will be somewhat different from many others we have presented before. Since this Tuesday is July 4th, the day when we celebrate our nation's independence, I want to use this time to share with you some words of tribute to our nation and to its founders. As we approach this special day in our nation, our prayer is that we may all come to a greater appreciation and spirit of thanks to God for what He has given to each of us.Many of you are hearing this podcast in a country other than America, so we invite you to celebrate with us in genuine thanksgiving to God for all His blessings, wherever we may be. Thank you for joining us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 164The Pursuit of Happiness
Nine days from today our nation will be celebrating once again our independence - - the 4th of July - - Independence Day. Already we are hearing fireworks here at the beach; merchants are decorating their wares in red, white, and blue, and family gatherings are being planned - - all for the purpose of having a grand celebration. It is hoped to be a wonderful time of happiness for all. The question we're asking in today's message is: how do we get that happiness we are pursuing? In these next few minutes, our prayer is that God will help us to find the true road to real happiness.Thank you for sharing this time with us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 163Heirs of God
Suppose you bought a lottery ticket, and when the winning number was announced, you discover that it is your ticket. You won the lottery! But let's say that you are the ultimate procrastinator, and you never get around to claiming what you have won! To use another example, let's say that you have a rich uncle who dies and leaves you $50 million, but for some reason, you never claim your inheritance. Did you know that God has left you a great inheritance, just waiting for you to claim it? And that's what we're thinking about on this Father's Day Sunday.Thank you for sharing this time with us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 162Drum-Major Desires
Last Sunday we gave our attention in the sermon to the subject, "Ride the Wild Horses." Now today the title is "Drum-Major Desires." There is actually a connection between these two sermons, but it is not obvious just from hearing the titles. And so today we are building on the foundation of what we considered last Sunday. If you haven't heard the podcast from last week, you can still hear it. I jokingly tell people that these podcasts are like the devil - - they never go away! Now let's move right on into the follow-up from last Sunday.Thank you for sharing this time with us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 161Ride the Wild Horses
We welcome you this morning to our Sunday worship service from Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach, SC.Here is it the month of June already. When I was a seminary student in Louisville, KY many years ago, we used to look forward to the first Saturday in May for the Kentucky Derby. I never actually got to see a Derby, but that didn't keep me from appreciating all those magnificent three-year-old horses and the way they were trained for this "run for the roses."The title of today's sermon is "Ride the Wild Horses." Well, the sermon is not about those horses, which are anything but wild, but if you'll stay with us for a few minutes, we'll look at a Bible verse which mentions horses, and we will see how this applies to our spiritual life as well.Thank you for sharing this time with us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 160Finding Life's Highest Happiness
We welcome you this morning to our Sunday worship service from Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach, SC.In just a few more days we will be in the month of June - - that month which is traditionally the month of brides, although people do get married in all the other months as well. The sermon today is entitled, "Finding Life's Highest Happiness." For those anticipating marriage, this may be exactly what they are looking forward to - - a life filled with marital bliss. One young person who had been married for only a short time came to realize that a terrible mistake had been made in getting married. That person said, 'I didn't know what happiness was until I got married - - and then it was too late!" Well, that's a rather sad commentary on how to find life's highest happiness! Surely there is a better way. We are thinking about that better way this morning, and we are glad to have you join us from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 159A Drama of the Highway
Here we are in the middle of May, and the crowds are already beginning to come to the beach for summer vacations. Locals express their feelings about this influx with mixed emotions - - happy to see friends they haven't seen for a while, merchants getting more revenue - - but also dislike of the number of cars everywhere. Road rage on the highways does happen although we hate to hear about it.Today we are thinking together about "A Drama of the Highway," and the Bible text for our thinking is Luke 10:25-37. Let's look once again at this account of what happened on a highway hundreds of years ago. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 158A Girl Named Jacob
We welcome you this morning to our Sunday worship service from Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach, SC.Last Sunday the title of the sermon from Ocean Lakes was "Pointers From a Prisoner." Today we have another rather strange title for a sermon. It is "A Girl Named Jochebed." Now who would give a precious little baby girl a name such as that! On this Mother's Day this year, we all should give love and honor to our mothers, especially those Godly mothers such as many of us were blessed with. What about Jochebed, and who was she? Let's open the Bible together and find the answer.Thank you for joining with us for these next few minutes from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 157Pointers from a Prisoner
Young preachers who are in school, intending to make their life's work that of Christian ministry, are encouraged to take a course called "homiletics." This is a class on the preparation and delivery of sermons. One of the things taught is that a good sermon should have a "catchy" title - - one that will get the attention of the congregation immediately. Well, today's sermon has a rather strange and unlikely title. It is "Pointers From aPrisoner."Hopefully, and prayerfully, this preacher now has your attention. So stay with us and let's see from the Bible what one old preacher said to a young preacher. It is rather interesting, indeed!Thank you for joining with us for these next few minutes from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 156The Gift of Prayer
Christmas and birthdays are two days when we like to think about getting and giving gifts to others. Of course, there other special occasions when gifts are appropriate, such as graduations, weddings, anniversaries, and other such happy times.Today we are thinking about a very special gift which God has given to each of us. Certainly, the gift of salvation, of God's daily help in our lives, of His comfort in difficult days - - all these are special ways in which He blesses us. But this morning we are thinking about a gift which God offers to everyone of us - "The Gift of Prayer."Thank you for joining us today as we remind ourselves of this matchless gift from our Lord. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 155Who Is In Your Balcony?
Most of us have either been to some athletic competition, or we have watched on TV, and we've seen a host of people, cheering on their favorite player or participant. One author referred to these as "balcony people," who are loud in their support of some athlete or team. Did you know that you have "balcony people" in your life? You may not know them by name, but they are there, just the same. Our scriptural basis for the message today is the entire 11th chapter of Hebrews, and continuing on into chapter 12, verse 1.Thank you for joining us today as we ask the question, "Who Is In Your Balcony?" For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 154Who Is Your Audience?
We welcome you this morning to our Sunday worship service from Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach, SC.There is a phrase from many years ago which reveals something of the inner thinking of most people we know today. The statement is this: "Every one of us plays out the drama of his life to some audience." The more we think about that, the more we realize that there is a lot of truth to it. This morning we are thinking together on the subject, "Who Is Your Audience?" A lot depends on how we answer that question, so let's get started.Thank you for joining us today as we worship the One who really should be our main audience. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 153God Has Spoken
We welcome you on this Easter Sunday morning to our worship service from Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach, SC.And what a wonderful day it is! Easter is that one day in all the year when people around the world gather joyously to celebrate the fact that we have a risen Savior - - one whom the grave could not contain, but who is alive and well, even to this very day. On this day, many years ago, God spoke to all of humanity to let us know that good news. And God continues now to speak to all who have ears and hearts to listen to Him.Thank you for joining us today as we hear what God did so long ago, and what He can do for us today. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 152Who is Jesus Christ
Today is Palm Sunday - - the day on which we remember Jesus as He rode into the city of Jerusalem on a lowly animal. The people who saw Him that day thought they knew who He was, but most of them were mistaken. They thought that they now had a new earthly king who would save them. But, really, who is this person called Jesus Christ? We are going to spend the next few minutes in answering that question.Thank you for worshiping with us today. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 151The Precious Blood of Christ
We welcome you this morning to our Sunday worship service from Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach, SC.We are thinking today about a very important subject: how to get to heaven. People have all kinds of ideas about this. Everybody wants to go to heaven, but is it possible to have even "a little bit of heaven" on this earth? The Bible is very clear on these matters, and we invite you now to join our congregation here at Ocean Lakes in thinking with us on the subject, "The Precious Blood of Christ." Thank you for worshiping with us today. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 150What You Don't Know Can Hurt You
Have you ever heard the expression, "What you don't know can't hurt you?" We sometimes say that to excuse our ignorance about some subject, admitting that nobody can be an expert in everything. But what about our Christian faith in this matter? Join us now as we take a closer look in thinking on the subject for today: "What You Don't Know CAN Hurt You." Thank you for worshiping with us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 149Religious Boredom
If you've ever been around little children, you are familiar with what they sometimes say, "I'm bored!" Have you ever experienced that feeling? What about boredom in regards to your own spiritual experiences? That's what we are thinking about today, "Religious Boredom." Our prayer is that today's message will help us all to come to have a more vital, joyous faith.Thank you for worshipping with us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 148Gods Made to Order
When you begin each new day, do you have a habit of going to some place n your home, bowing down to some idol you've made, and praying to that idol to help you get through the day? Well, probably most of us don't do that: we are not idol worshippers. The title of todays message is "God's Made to Order." Does that have application to us today? For the next few minutes, we will be thinking on this subject, as we look at the Person who we call "The One True God." Thank you for worshipping with us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 147Eagles' Wings, God and Us
Today we have a special treat in store for us. We are blessed to have a guest minister to bring the sermon this morning. He is Rev. Rich McLawhorn, who, along with his wife, Jody, are regular attenders at our worship services each week. Rev. McLawhorn has been very active throughout his pastoral ministry, serving in various capacities, not only as pastor of churches, but also in many other places of Christian service. We look forward now to hearing God's word from Rev. McLawhorn, as he brings the message, which is entitled, "Eagles' Wings, God, and Us."Thank you for worshipping with us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 146Repentance
The subject of todays sermon is "Repentance." You may be thinking, "What could be more dull than a sermon on repentance?" We all know that this is something which everyone ought to do, but "ME? I'm a pretty good person - not as bad as a lot of people I know." Well, before you adjust your halo too tightly, let's look together and see if this applies to each one of us.Thank you for worshiping with us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 145Don't Leave God Out
There is a phrase which is often heard in America these days - a rather sad commentary on the spiritual condition of our nation. And this is not restricted to the United States only. It may well be applied to many other nations as well. The phrase? "God has been left out." -- of our schools, our businesses, our homes, and even some feel that this applies to some churches. We are thinking today about what happens when it is really true that "God has been left out."Thank you for worshipping with us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 144Deep Water for Good Fishing
Everybody seems to love a good fish story, whether it is about that big catch, or maybe a sad story about "the one that got away." Jesus spent a lot of time on the water; in fact, some of His followers were fishermen. That's what we are going to be looking at today in the sermon, which is entitled, "Deep Water for Good Fishing/" Stay with us, and maybe you'll be able to catch a big idea that will bless you in the days ahead. Thank you for worshipping with us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground.
Ep 143A Personal Encounter with God
Last Sunday we centered our thoughts here at Ocean Lakes on the subject "Getting to Know God." Today we're going to look together at an experience which a man had in which he came to know God in a powerful way. His name is Isaiah, and the scriptural bases for today is Isaiah, Chapter 6, the first serval verses. This was an experience which drastically shaped the life of this man for many years to come -- all for the better. Our prayer is that a personal encounter with God will do the same for each of us. Thank you for worshipping with us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground.
Ep 142Getting to Know God
Who is the most important person in your life? Who has had the greatest influence on the person you have become? How did you get to know this person? Is it a family member, a neighbor, a co-worker, or a special friend? I don't know if you have answered this question by saying "God," or not. Today we are going to be thinking about the subject, "Getting to Know God." You may know God in a very personal way, or you may just have some vague ideas about who God is, but surely we would all agree that we need to know God in a more vital, personal way. Hopefully, and prayerfully, we can all do just this in the next few minutes of this service. Thank you for joining us from Ocean Lakes Family Campground.
Ep 141Power in Prayer

Ep 140Yesterday Is a Closed Book
Has there been any way in the past year that you have to look back on and admit you failed in some way? Well, that's a foolish question, isn't it? The hard truth is that we all fail in many ways. We are thinking this morning on the subject, "Yesterday is a Closed Book." We will look today at some ways in which we can all conquer our past failures. Thank you for worshipping with us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground.
Ep 139How Do You Face the New Year?
On this first Sunday in the new year, I will begin the message by asking a very personal question. The question is "How do you face the new year?" Many of us would have to admit that we cannot explain much of what has happened in our past. The present is even more difficult to understand. But when we think about the future, we all would agree that we cannot foresee what's ahead for any of us. However, the Bible gives us some excellent guidelines at this point. The scriptural reference for today is Luke 15:11-32 -- a familiar story. This year holds some unexpected blessings, and, of course, some trials that we couldn't anticipate. But God is already out there in the future. This should give us all great hope. Thank you for worshipping with us from Ocean Lakes Family Campground.
Ep 138A Moving Christmas Story
Today is the one day in the year - and indeed in several years - when we do not have a regular worship service as such. Our founder, Mr. Nelson Jackson, made the decision many years before he went to Heaven in 2010 that when Christmas falls on a Sunday, we would suspend our service here at Ocean Lakes, since most folks will be elsewhere with family or may prefer to attend a local church for a special Christmas music program. However, I want to share with you for just a few minutes a Christmas story which touched my heart. Maybe it will touch yours also and make this day a very special one for you. Thank you for being with us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground, as we say, "Happy Birthday Jesus!"
Ep 137Christmas Potpourri
Our Website For more information on the Campground, insider tips and FAQ's, listen to our General Ocean Lakes Podcast, Campground Conversations.
Ep 136O Hear the Angel Voices
The subject of angels in the Bible has been a fascination for many people, and as we come today to the third Sunday in Advent, we are going to be thinking about angels. The well-beloved song, "O Holy Night," has a line in it which says "O hear the angel voices." Angelic messages and music are central in the Christmas story, so that's our focus today. Thank you for worshipping with us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground.
Ep 135Modern Herods
Last Sunday we began our Advent season by thinking together about "The Other Innkeeper." This was the man in Jesus' parable of The Good Samaritan - the person who operated the inn to which the Samaritan took the man he found wounded, nearly dead, beside the road. Today we will look at another person who is truly a large part of the Christmas story, but he is not someone whom we would call our hero. His name is Herod, who tried to eliminate anyone who might take his throne from him. How many people in our day, like Herod, refuse to crown Jesus as king? Thank you for worshipping with us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground, as we think together about "Modern Herods."
Ep 134The Other Inkeeper
This last Sunday in November is considered by many churches as the beginning of the Advent Season - a time when we try to prepare our hearts for a meaningful observance of the birth of our Savior Jesus. This morning we are going to take a somewhat different approach to the Advent Season, as we think together -not of the Innkeeper in Bethlehem, who is so often scorned by not letting Mary and Joseph in. Our subject today is "The Other Innkeeper." Who is that, you ask. The answer is found in Luke's gospel, chapter 10 verses 25-37. Our prayer is that this may be a meaningful beginning of the Advent Season for us all. Thank you for worshipping with us.
Ep 133The Goodness of God
Thanksgiving Day is only a few days away. What do you have this year for which you are truly thankful? Well, when we stop to think about it, there is no way in which we can "count our blessings;" they are far too numerous. Yes, we all have troubles and hardships. Some people would have an easier time counting their burdens than their blessings. But today we are going to be looking at one reason why we ALL should be thankful. It is found in our Biblical text for today, Psalm 107:8 - "O that men would praise the LORD for His goodness, and for His Wonderful works to the children of men." Among our many thanks to God here at Ocean Lakes Family Campground, we thank YOU for joining us in worship today.
Ep 132Look at Your Hands
As you listen to the podcast today, some of you may be in your home, some may be riding in your car, some outdoors or at some other place. If it is convenient for you to do so, I'm going to begin today by asking you to do what the sermon title says: "Look at Your Hands." Now, lest you think that this message is not Biblically based, the scriptural test for today is Acts 20:35. We will uncover this as we move along into the sermon. Thank you for worshipping with us from Ocean Lakes Family Campground.
Ep 131When We Walk with the Lord
There are many times when preachers use language which may well be above the heads of listeners. There are those occasions when we use phrases which may have had special meanings years ago, but which don't make alot of sense to us today. One such phrase is "walking with God." Now we all know that we cannot literally "walk with God" in the same way in which we might walk down the street with an old friend. So what so we mean when we say that we should "walk with God?" This morning our subject is, "When we walk with the Lord." Maybe in these next few minutes we can get a better idea of what that means. Thank you for worshipping with us!
Ep 130Serving God and Mammon
In the Old Testament book of Numbers we find a statement which has often been used as a prayer for people who are about to end their earthly life. It is found in Numbers 23, verse 10: "Let me die the death of the righteous..." These words were spoken by a man named Balaam, who was a rather strange individual, as we shall see today. Was his prayer answered? Well, not exactly; in fact, not at all. It is an interesting story, and our prayer is that we all may learn a lesson from God through the tragedy of this man's life/ Thank you for worshiping with us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground.
Ep 129A Night Visitor
Here at Ocean Lakes Family Campground the month of October each year is a special time for children. This is the month of Halloween, and we have FIVE weeks of festivities for the children here. Sometimes Halloween has a bad name, although its origin is from a religious beginning. Our celebrations here at Ocean Lakes are more joyous than scare, and children are thrilled to go from place to place "Trick or Treating." This mornings message has nothing to do with Halloween, but the title is "A Night Visitor." Stay with us, and let's see who this is and why he made a visit at night. Thank you for worshipping with us today from Ocean Lakes Family Campground.
