The Lord is risen indeed! For Christians around the world, this is a day to celebrate — Jesus is alive and well. The resurrection surprised many who didn't believe, and even some of His own disciples. Today we reflect on how God is a God of wonderful surprises. On this Palm Sunday we are remembering not only the entrance of Jesus into the city of Jerusalem, but we are taking a look at what happened just a few days later on a hill called Calvary. The question has sometimes been raised, "Who was it that crucified Jesus?" Was it the Romans, the Jews, the angry mob? Just who was responsible for His death on that old, rugged cross? Last Sunday our thoughts were on the subject of "The Holiness of God." But God's holiness is only a part of the true picture of God. Today we look at God's nature, not just as a God of power, majesty, and splendor, but also a God who is near us, as the song says, "He walks with me and He talks with me." He is a God who is a God of love. The Apostle Paul said in Romans 5:8, "God commended his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." One of the oldest and most beloved of our Christian hymns is "Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty." The words were written by Reginald Heber, who was born in 1783. When we say that God is holy, what does that mean? This may sound like a dull, uninteresting subject, but today we are going to look at what God's holiness means to us in our everyday lives. Those who have been to Ocean Lakes know that after passing the Security Building, then passing two lakes, you come to a fork in the road. The right fork is called Sunset Trail, while the left road leads to the water park, the ocean, and the Recreational Building, when we have our worship service every Sunday. When we give instructions to guests who are unfamiliar with Ocean Lakes, we try to explain very clearly THE WAY for them to go. The Bible has a lot to say about "The Way." And that's what we are thinking about in the sermon today. The life which Jesus came to give us is a joyous life, and it is truly THE way. We conclude today the series of messages on the subject of "God's Miraculous Plan of Economy." In this series, we have been reminded that everything belongs to God, and the way we get hold of God's wealth is by giving. The big question is, "How do we give?" The older we get, and hopefully, the more maturity we have, we look at our lives and sometimes ask, "What contribution is my life making in this world which will be lasting after I am gone?" All during these past weeks of the Christmas season, our thoughts have been turned, as they have each year, to the meaning of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. The season has been enriched by beautiful music, stories of events surrounding His birth, Nativity scenes, words spoken in sermons and other written messages in meaningful Christmas cards, and countless other ways in which we have tried to celebrate His birth. Several times each year, those who come to worship here in a campground setting are united in the observance of the meal of remembrance which was instituted by our Lord Jesus. It goes by several titles: The Lord's Supper, Holy Communion, the Eucharist, Divine Liturgy, the Mass, and others. Today the entire service is planned around this sacred experience.
