Tigers waste near perfect start from Eduardo Rodriguez – WSJM Morning Sports

MLB – Major League Baseball Yesterday Baltimore Orioles 2, Detroit Tigers 1 Tampa Bay Rays 4, Chicago White Sox 1 Los Angeles Dodgers 7, Chicago Cubs 3 Orioles 2, Tigers 1 – F/10 – Orioles beat Tigers 2-1 in 10, run winning streak to 6 Adam Frazier dashed home on Mason Englert’s wild pitch in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Baltimore Orioles their sixth straight victory, 2-1 over the Detroit Tigers. The Orioles won for the 10th time in 12 games, this time on a day when Detroit’s Eduardo Rodriguez retired the first 20 Baltimore hitters. The Tigers left 13 men on base, including three in the 10th after Orioles manager Brandon Hyde issued two intentional walks. Those allowed left-hander Keegan Akin (1-1) to face lefty hitters, and end the threat, and Englert was unable to do the same in the bottom half. Frazier pinch-ran as the automatic runner and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt. He scored when Englert’s first pitch to Jorge Mateo skipped away. Rays 4, White Sox 1 – Rays get 13th consecutive home win, beat White Sox 4-1 Zach Eflin pitched five effective innings in his return from injury and the Tampa Bay Rays hit two more home runs, beating the slumping Chicago White Sox 4-1 for their 13th consecutive home win to begin the season. Tampa Bay improved to 19-3 overall and tied the 2009 Los Angeles Dodgers for the second-longest home winning streak to start a season since 1901. The 1907 New York Giants opened with 15 straight wins at home. Luke Raley and Harold Ramirez went deep for the Rays, who have homered in each of their first 22 games — extending their major league record. Eflin allowed one run and three hits in a game that took only 2 hours, 2 minutes. Peter Fairbanks got his third save. Dodgers 7, Cubs 3 – Mookie Betts homers, drives in 4 as Dodgers beat Cubs 7-3 Mookie Betts homered and drove in four runs in his first career start at shortstop, and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Chicago Cubs 7-3. Big sewer project planned in Benton Harbor

There will be a lot of sewer work in Benton Harbor in the coming years if all goes according to plan. At a meeting this past week, city commissioners approved a project planning document that will have the city seek around $20 million from the state Drinking Water Revolving Fund for sanitary sewer work. Elaine Venema of civil engineering firm Fleis and VandenBrink said work is needed throughout the city, not only on sewer lines, but on infrastructure like lift stations. “In 2017, 30% of the pipes, the wastewater gravity pipes, were over 100 years old, and another 30% were between 76 and 100 years old. So, that’s about 60% of the city’s wastewater infrastructure that’s probably beyond its useful life.” Venema said the city is on a good position to get loan forgiveness, or just to receive the funds in the form of a grant. The only way to know is to apply to the state. Mayor Marcus Muhammad said the need for the infrastructure work is critical and must be done. If all goes well, a project plan could come together this fall with construction starting in the fall of next year. It would take a couple of years to complete. Before anything is final, another approval would be needed from the city commission.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Mason Jar Cafe’s Furry Friends Friday featuring Colby Jack!

Colby Jack is a super handsome and smart guy who appears to be a German Shepherd mix. Sadly, Colby was tied to a sign at Al-Van Humane Society, so we do not know his history. We do know that Colby always wants to please us and is very treat-motivated. He is outrageously intelligent, well behaved, and knows all of his cues (sit, shake, off, down, speak, spin, high five, etc.). Colby loves to run around and have fun, and will also show-off his goofy side. Because Colby resource guards high-value food items, his adopter must understand how to manage that behavior, and he must go to an adult-only home. Colby Jack is neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. He weighs 65 pounds and we estimate him to be around 3-1/2 years old. Please complete Al-Van Humane Society’s online application at al-van.org/adopt if you are interested in adopting Colby JackSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
