NFL – Cardinals QB Kyler Murray out for season with torn ACL Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the season. Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury confirmed the extent of the injury during his Tuesday news conference. The news is not a surprise after the 25-year-old injured his knee on the third play of Monday night’s 27-13 loss to the New England Patriots. The fourth-year quarterback was flushed out of the pocket and running to his right when he tried to juke past a Patriots defender, but tumbled to the grass in obvious pain. Players from both teams surrounded the quarterback before he was carted off the field with a towel draped over his head. Green said he pointed out the fan’s behavior to a game official, and the situation was taken care of from there.

Furry Friends Friday brought to you by The Mason Jar Cafe featuring Destiny from Al-Van Humane Society

Destiny is a sweet, beautiful girl who was returned to us after not getting along with the resident cat, and she is looking for a cat/small animal free home. She would do best in a quiet home, but with someone who is willing to get her some good exercise, as she is still young and very active. Destiny is uncomfortable and nervous with new people when she first meets them, but slowly opens up, and will gently ask for love and attention once she starts trusting you. She needs someone willing to give her this time, and to keep up with her exercise and training so she can blossom. She is willing to meet a new dog friend, but this introduction too might take some time. Destiny is a good listener and very loyal when she gets to know you. She finds a favorite toy and sticks with it! Her current favorite is an orange and blue rubber bone. She sits when asked and is great on a leash. She’s doing well learning not to react to other dogs she sees, but will need consistent work on that. Add a little canned food to her bowl and she’ll be your best friend. She loves soft, jerky-like treats, especially if they smell like bacon! Destiny is a little under 3 years old and is 42 lbs. She is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. If you are interested in adopting Destiny, fill out an application at al-van.org/adopt. You can also call us at (269)637-5062, or visit our adoption center at 07591 Blue Star Hwy in South Haven, and we can help you with the application process.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Griner freed; Wolverines win in Big Ten opener – WSJM Morning Sports

WNBA – Griner freed: WNBA star swapped for Russian, heads home American basketball star Brittney Griner is heading home, freed from Russian prison in exchange for the U.S. releasing notorious Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout. Thursday’s dramatic action was the culmination of an eight-month saga of high diplomacy and dashed hopes. But the U.S. failed to win freedom for another American, Paul Whelan, jailed in Russia for nearly four years on espionage charges that his family and the U.S. government say are baseless. The swap comes at a time of heightened tensions over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. And it has brought unprecedented attention to the number of what the U.S. considers wrongful detainees. Minnesota used a 15-3 run to pull within 40-28 with 3:15 left in the first half but McDaniel ended Michigan’s nearly four minute scoring drought with a long 3-pointer and the Wolverines led 47-31 at the break. McDaniel scored nine of Michigan’s 17 points to start the second half for a 21-point lead. And Jett Howard scored five straight Michigan points during a 12-2 run for a 76-47 advantage. Griner freed; Wolverines win in Big Ten opener – Friday Morning Sports Update

NCAAMBKB – Men’s College Basketball Last Night Michigan 90, Minnesota 75 Michigan 90, Minnesota 75 – McDaniel shines in first start, Michigan eases by Minnesota Hunter Dickinson scored 19 points, freshman Dug McDaniel had 15 points and seven assists in his first start of the season and Michigan routed Minnesota 90-75. Michigan made its first five 3-pointers, led 24-9 after the opening eight minutes and extended it to 37-13.
