Hurts, Habits, Hang-Ups – Breaking Bad Habits

Breaking Bad Habits Why are good habits hard to build—and bad ones hard to break? Real change doesn’t come from trying harder but thinking differently. In this message, we unpack how repentance means seeing life through the lens of God’s truth, not just feeling sorry. We’ll explore how grace transforms us from the inside out, why movement without mindset leads us back to old patterns, and how to break bad habits for good. You can fight battles tomorrow—or win the war today. Titus 2:11-12 Discussion topics Icebreaker - What's one small habit (good or bad) that you know affects your day more than it should? Titus 2:11–12 - “For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions...” According to this passage, what role does grace play in our ability to change? How is God's grace different from "trying harder" on our own? Digging Deeper - How would you define real repentance after today's message? In what areas of your life have you been trying to modify behavior without changing your thinking? Personal Reflection: Is there a habit you need to break or replace right now? (You don’t have to share specifics unless you're comfortable.) What’s one “cue” (place, time, mood, moment, or people) that triggers that habit? Which practical step—Remove the Cue, Interrupt the Action, Replace the Routine—would be most helpful for you to focus on this week? What is one small habit that you can start today? Hurts, Habits and Hang-Ups – Letting Go of our Hang-Ups

Letting Go of our Hang-Ups What if what’s holding you back isn’t around you—but within you? In this message, we look at the internal hangups—old wounds, labels, and coping habits—that can keep us from fully stepping into God’s plan. Through Saul’s story in 1 Samuel 9–10, we see how insecurity and self-doubt can overshadow calling. From chasing donkeys to hiding in baggage, Saul’s journey is a mirror for our own. What if God has already called and equipped you—but you’re still stuck behind old expectations? Let’s talk about dropping the baggage and stepping into the life God’s marked out for you. essage Description Book Chapter:Verse Discussion topics Question one. Question two. Question three. Hurts, Habits, & Hang-Ups – Healing Our Hurts

Healing Our Hurts What if your past pain is still shaping your future? This message is about healing—not just the obvious hurts, but the hidden wounds we carry through life. Betrayal, grief, disappointment, shame—these don’t fade with time. But the cross and the empty tomb tell a better story. Jesus showed us the way: He acknowledged the hurt, let go of the right to retaliate, prayed for His enemies, made room for reconciliation, and trusted God with the outcome. If He carried our wounds to the cross and walked out of the grave—scars and all—maybe your pain has a purpose too. And maybe healing will start today. Luke 23:26-56 Discussion topics Icebreaker - When you hear the word hurt, what’s the first story, memory, or feeling that comes to mind? Luke 22:44 – Jesus in the Garden - What does this moment teach us about acknowledging our pain instead of suppressing it? Is there a hurt in your life that you’ve avoided naming or dealing with? 5 Steps to Healing - Of the 5 Steps to Healing shared in the sermon (Acknowledge the Hurt, Forfeit the Right to Punish, Pray for Them, Be Open to Reconciliation, Trust God with Your Future), Which step is hardest for you right now? Why? Which one do you feel God is inviting you to take next? From Pain to Purpose - Jesus rose with scars, not open wounds. What would it look like for your hurt to become a scar—no longer painful, but still purposeful? Is there anyone in your Community Group that needs to take their next step by being water baptized? Searching For … Community

Community What if the reason you feel disconnected isn’t because God is far away—but because you’re surrounded by a crowd, not planted in a community? This week, we’re talking about how the enemy doesn’t create—he counterfeits. And one of his most convincing counterfeits is false community. From gangs to social media echo chambers, the enemy offers connection without depth, loyalty without truth, and belonging without transformation. But God designed you for real, life-giving community—with Him and with others. We’ll explore how Jesus modeled both solitude and togetherness, how isolation can quietly erode your soul, and how Palm Sunday shows the difference between crowd hype and covenant relationships. If you’ve been searching for connection, this is the episode for you. Genesis 2:18 Discussion topics Read Proverbs 18:1 What does this verse reveal about the dangers of isolation, even when it seems like a personal preference? Read 1 John 4:11-12 What role does community play in helping us understand and reflect God’s love? Jesus Vertical Model Jesus regularly withdrew for solitude (Luke 5:16), but never disconnected from people. How can we build a healthy rhythm of personal time with God and meaningful relationships with others? Danger of Isolation Isolation isn’t always chosen—it can come through grief, shame, busyness, or burnout. Have you ever been in a season of isolation? What helped pull you out? Are you planning on being a part of Good Friday service and Easter Sunday? What are you hoping for spiritually over this holiday season? Have you ever thought about Easter in this way? Searching For … Peace

Peace What if peace could actually slow your progress—but without peace, you’ll never get where you’re going? In today’s message, we explore the surprising tension between pressure and peace—how both are necessary to grow. From the invention of Play-Doh to the Apostle Peter’s words during intense persecution, we learn that peace isn’t found in perfect circumstances, but in the presence of a Savior who calms both the storm around us and the one within us. We’ll look at the command to cast our anxieties onto God—not gently place but throw them off—because He cares for us. If you're searching for peace, we’ll unpack where it’s truly found, how it shapes your thoughts, and why what fills your mind will eventually lead your life. 1 Peter 5:7 Discussion topics Read Mark 4:35–41 – The storm on the sea What stands out to you about Jesus' response in the middle of the storm? Have you ever experienced a moment where peace came before the problem was solved? How does that shape your view of faith? Read 1 Peter 5:6–7 – Casting your cares What do you think it really means to “cast” your anxiety on God? Are there worries in your life you’ve been gently handing over, instead of throwing off? Read Proverbs 4:23 (choose a few translations) – Guarding your thoughts How do your thoughts shape your peace (or your panic)? What are practical ways you can guard your mind this week? Take Action: What dominates your thoughts during the week? Is there one truth from this sermon or scripture that you want to meditate on intentionally in the coming days? Searching For … Love

Love What if love isn’t just one thing—but many? This week, we take a 360° look at love through the lens of Scripture, culture, and eternity. Just like the Inuit people have dozens of nuanced words for snow—because it’s essential to their survival—we explore how love needs nuance, too. From Greek definitions to God’s divine dilemma in the garden, we peel back layers to ask: what kind of love are you really searching for? Not all love is the same, and not all love leads to healing. But the love that flows from God—sacrificial, defining, and fruit-bearing—changes everything. Don’t settle for shallow love when you were made for something deeper. John 3:16 Discussion topics Read 1 John 4:7–21 together. What stands out to you most in this passage? How does John describe the connection between God and love? What does this passage reveal about how we should love others? Love as Fruit, Not Just a Feeling Galatians 5:22 says love is a fruit of the Spirit. What does that mean practically? How do we “grow” in love? What weeds (like bitterness or selfishness) do we need to pull? God’s Dilemma in the Garden The sermon spoke about how God had to cover what He loved (man) with the blood of an innocent substitute. How does this deepen your understanding of the cross and God's love? Take Action: Who in your life needs to experience God’s love through you this week? Is there someone to forgive, encourage, or invite to church? What’s your next step? Have you and your group signed up to help serve at the Easter Egg Hunt? Searching For … Healing

Healing Have you ever felt stuck in your pain, wondering if healing is even possible? In this sermon, we explore how Jesus repeatedly asked people, "Do you want to be healed?"—not because He didn't know the answer, but because healing requires a response. From the man at the Pool of Bethesda to Blind Bartimaeus, Jesus never assumed someone wanted freedom—He called them to step into it. So why do so many of us stay trapped in frustration, offense, and resentment? Could it be that we've built expectations that reality can’t fulfill? Today, we unpack the formula for frustration, how the enemy uses offense as a weapon, and why responding differently is the key to breakthrough. Healing is available—but do you really want it? Let’s talk about it. Luke 23:34 Discussion topics Have you ever experienced a time when you knew you needed healing (physical, emotional, or spiritual) but struggled to ask for it? What held you back? How can we recognize when our brokenness is keeping us from stepping into healing? Read Psalm 34:18—What does it mean for God to be near to the brokenhearted? How have you experienced His closeness in difficult seasons? Jesus calls us to Recognize it, Receive it, and Rise above it. What is one area in your life where you need to respond differently this week? What’s a situation where you need to replace obstacle with opportunity, hindrance with healing, or defense with deliverance? How can this group support you in walking that out? Read Proverbs 18:19—How does offense build walls in our relationships? Have you ever struggled with holding onto offense? Have you and your group signed up to help serve at the Easter Egg Hunt? Searching For … Freedom

Freedom Are you holding onto offense, replaying past hurts, or nurturing bitterness like a pet? Offense is a trap—a baited hook designed to keep us stuck. Science confirms that forgiveness improves mental and physical health, but Jesus takes it further—He shows us it’s the path to true freedom. In John 5, a man sat by the pool of Bethesda for 38 years, waiting for a miracle. When Jesus shows up, He doesn’t offer excuses—He offers healing. Are you ready to let go and step into freedom? Or will you stay stuck, waiting for change? Join us as we explore the power of forgiveness. Matthew 18:7 Discussion topics Read Matthew 18:7 – Jesus says that offenses (skandalon) will come, but woe to the one through whom they come. How does understanding offense as a “trap” change the way you think about it? Have you ever found yourself stuck in a cycle of offense or bitterness? What was the situation, and how did it affect your life? In John 5, Jesus asks the man at the pool of Bethesda, “Do you want to get well?” Why do you think Jesus asked this question instead of just healing him immediately? How do we recognize when offense is starting to take root in our hearts? What are practical steps we can take to release it before it turns into bitterness? Forgiveness doesn’t mean excusing or forgetting, but it does mean releasing someone from the debt they owe us. Who in your life do you need to forgive so that you can walk in freedom? Challenge each group member to identify one offense or wound they are holding onto and to pray for God’s help to release it this week. Encourage them to take one small action—whether it's praying for that person, writing a letter (even if they don’t send it), or simply speaking a blessing over the situation. Searching For … Self-Worth

Self-Worth Is It Safe to Question Your Faith? Have you ever wrestled with doubt but felt like you couldn’t ask the hard questions? Doubt isn’t the enemy of faith—it’s often the path to deeper belief. John the Baptist and Thomas both struggled with uncertainty, yet their questions led to revelation, not rejection. This week, we’ll explore how to move from questioning our faith to questioning our doubts—and how God meets us in both. If you’ve ever felt uncertain, you’re not alone, and your doubts might be leading you to a greater understanding of your worth. Romans 8:14-17 Discussion topics Starting off the conversation on the deep end… Have you ever had a question about faith that you felt like you couldn’t ask? What was it, and why did it feel hard to bring up? Read Matthew 11:2-5 – John the Baptist, the one who announced Jesus, later questioned if He was truly the Messiah. Why do you think John had doubts? How did Jesus respond to John’s doubts? What does this passage teach us about handling our own doubts? Read John 20:24-27 – Thomas wasn’t with the disciples when they first saw Jesus and refused to believe without proof. Do you think Thomas was wrong for wanting to see for himself? How did Jesus respond to his doubt? What does this show us about God’s approach to our questions? If doubt is part of faith, how can we make church a safe place for people to ask hard questions? Ready, Set, Let’s Go – I Fought the Law and the Law Won

I Fought the Law and the Law Won Are you carrying more than you should? Life can feel like a constant balancing act—until the weight becomes too much. In Exodus 18, Moses reunites with his family, only to receive a blunt but life-changing challenge from his father-in-law, Jethro: “What you are doing is not good.” Jethro’s wisdom reshapes how Moses leads, showing us that leadership isn’t about doing it all—it’s about equipping others to share the load. So, who are you empowering? And who’s speaking wisdom into your life? Let’s talk about it. Exodus 18 Discussion topics What part of this sermon, or this passage stands out most to you and why? In Exodus 18:7-12, Jethro celebrates what God has done for Israel. Why is it important to share testimonies of God’s faithfulness with family and friends? Who is someone in your life that gives you wise advice when you need it? Who in your life do you allow to challenge you and say, "What you are doing is not good"? How can you be more open to wise counsel? Have you ever been in a situation where you were trying to do everything yourself? What happened? Where do you need to delegate or ask for help in your life—whether in family, work, ministry, or personal growth? Next week Navigation Church moves back to two services. Ready, Set, Let’s Go – No “I” in TEAM

No "I" in TEAM In Exodus 17, we see two powerful moments that reveal how God’s provision and victory are often tied to the people He places around us. First, at Rephidim, Israel complains about their thirst, testing God rather than trusting Him. Moses, overwhelmed by their grumbling, turns to God—who provides water from the rock at Horeb, a foreshadowing of Christ, our ultimate source of life. But right after this provision, a new challenge arises—the Amalekites attack, targeting the weak and weary at the back of Israel’s camp. This battle wasn’t won by one man’s strength but by teamwork—Joshua fought, while Moses lifted his hands in intercession, supported by Aaron and Hur. The lesson? No one wins alone. Whether we’re in a season of testing or battle, we need the right people around us—people who hold us up, fight alongside us, and remind us of God’s faithfulness. So, who’s holding up your arms? And whose arms are you lifting? Let’s talk about it in today's conversation. Exodus 17 Discussion topics Who in your life has been like an “Aaron or Hur” to you—someone who has supported you in a tough season? Read Deuteronomy 25:17-18. The Amalekites attacked the weak and stragglers. How does this relate to how the enemy tries to attack us today? What "battle" are you facing right now where you need people to lift you up in prayer and encouragement? Moses built an altar and called it “The Lord is My Banner” (Exodus 17:15). What does it mean for God to be your banner in daily life? Identify one person this week who you can support in prayer, encouragement, or practical help. Reach out and be their Aaron or Hur! Ready, Set, Let’s Go – Feels Like A Con-Tentment

Feels Like A Con-Tentment Are you truly content, or just telling yourself you are? Do you trust God’s provision, or are you still craving what He called you out of? In Exodus 16, the Israelites had seen God’s miracles, yet they still complained, longing for the “comforts” of Egypt—even though it meant slavery. We often do the same, forgetting God’s provision and focusing on what we think we lack. God provided manna, but He also used it as a test—to see if His people would trust Him daily. True contentment isn’t about having more; it’s about trusting God’s provision and following His instructions. This week, we’re asking: Are you CON-tent or truly CONTENT? Let’s break free from false security and learn how to live in daily dependence on God. Exodus 16 Discussion topics When you hear the word "contentment," what comes to mind? Do you see it as peace or as settling for less? Exodus 16:3 says the Israelites longed for the “pots of meat” in Egypt. Why do we sometimes look back at our past with selective memory, forgetting the struggles that came with it? Numbers 11:4-6 mentions that the “mixed multitude” stirred up complaints. How can negative influences or wrong mindsets affect our ability to be content? God provided manna daily, but He also set limits (no hoarding, gather only what you need). What does this teach us about trusting God’s provision today? Are there areas in your life where you struggle to trust God’s timing or provision? What would it look like to release that worry and trust Him daily? What’s one way you can shift from "CON-tentment" (faking peace) to true contentment this week? Searching For…..Belonging

Belonging Have you ever walked into a room full of people and still felt alone? Or wondered why, no matter how much you do, it never feels like enough? We’re all searching for belonging, but too often, we look in the wrong places—performance, approval, relationships—only to be left feeling empty. This week, we’re diving into what it really means to belong. John 14:18 reminds us that Jesus never leaves us searching—“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” True belonging isn’t something we achieve; it’s something we receive. Join us as we unpack how to stop searching and start living in the love that’s already ours. John 14:18 Discussion topics Read John 14:18 – “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” What does this verse reveal about God’s heart for us? How does this speak to the human desire to belong? Read Romans 8:15 – “The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.” What does it mean to be adopted into God’s family? How does knowing you are a child of God change the way you see yourself? The older brother in the Prodigal Son story was in the father’s house but still felt disconnected. How do we sometimes live that way in our faith? What’s one area of your life where you feel like you don’t fully belong? How can you invite God into that space? This week, how can you be more intentional about helping someone else feel like they belong? Ready, Set, Let’s Go – Enough is Enough

Enough is Enough Feeling stuck in what’s going wrong instead of seeing God’s provision? In this episode of Ready, Set, Let’s Go, we dive into Exodus 15:27 and the lesson of Elim—a place of rest and provision in the wilderness. Elim wasn’t just an oasis; it was a reminder that God provides exactly what we need at the right time. Join us as we explore how shifting our mindset from scarcity to trust helps us recognize His provision, even in difficult seasons. Book Chapter:Verse Discussion topics Feeling stuck in what’s going wrong instead of seeing God’s provision? In this episode of Ready, Set, Let’s Go, we dive into Exodus 15:27 and the lesson of Elim—a place of rest and provision in the wilderness. Elim wasn’t just an oasis; it was a reminder that God provides exactly what we need at the right time. Join us as we explore how shifting our mindset from scarcity to trust helps us recognize His provision, even in difficult seasons. Why do you think God led the Israelites to Elim, a place of rest, after the bitter waters of Marah? What does this teach us about His character? Pastor shared about four different psychological connections that we might have with this story, or the events surrounding this story. You do not need to cover all of them but is there any one of them that stands out to you? Negativity Bias: Why do you think it’s easier to focus on what’s going wrong rather than what’s going right? How can we shift our focus to gratitude in difficult situations? Familiarity Bias: The Israelites often longed for Egypt, even though it represented slavery. Why do we sometimes cling to familiar patterns, even when they’re unhealthy? How can we trust God to lead us into new and better things? Cognitive Dissonance: Have you ever faced a situation where your expectations of God didn’t match your reality? How did you resolve that tension in your faith? Scarcity Mentality: Do you ever find yourself focusing on what you lack rather than what God has already provided? How can we learn to trust God’s provision instead of our fears? Ready, Set, Let’s Go – From Bitter to Better

From Bitter to Better Have you ever found yourself stuck in a bitter season, wondering if things could ever get better? In this message, we dive into Exodus 15:23-26, where the Israelites face their first test after crossing the Red Sea. Through the bitterness of Marah and the wilderness of Shur, we’ll explore how God uses moments of testing to transform our hearts, deepen our trust, and reveal Himself as the God who heals. Discover how to move from bitter to better by trusting in God’s provision and grace—even in the hardest seasons. Exodus 15:23-26 Discussion topics The Desert of Shur was a place of testing and trust. What are some "wilderness" moments in your life where you felt stuck or limited? How did you see God working through that season? At Marah, the Israelites’ response to bitterness was grumbling. How do you typically respond when faced with disappointments or unmet expectations? How might choosing trust over bitterness change your perspective? The wood thrown into the bitter water symbolized God’s power to transform. What areas of bitterness in your life need to be surrendered to God? How can you invite Him to bring healing and transformation? God revealed Himself as "The Lord Who Heals" at Marah. Ready, Set, Let’s Go – Another Dead End

Another Dead End Have you ever felt like God led you straight into a dead end? This week in our "Ready, Set, Let’s Go!" series, we’re exploring Exodus 14 and the moment the Israelites were trapped between the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s advancing army. It looked like there was no way out—but what if dead ends aren’t the end at all? What if they’re the perfect environment for God’s deliverance? Through this story, we’ll see how God uses obstacles to prepare us for His promises. Sometimes He leads us into difficult places, not to harm us, but to ensure we won’t go back to old habits, fears, or temptations. The Red Sea wasn’t the Israelites’ defeat—it was their path to freedom, and God’s ultimate display of His glory. Let’s stop looking back and start trusting the One who makes a way where there is no way. Exodus 14 Discussion topics Where in your life do you currently feel like you're at a "dead end" or facing an impossible situation, and how can you trust God to turn that moment into an opportunity for His glory? In what areas of your spiritual life have you been tempted to return to old habits or comforts, even if they weren’t God's best for you? How can you choose to trust God's direction moving forward? Carols and Cinema of Christmas – The Peace and Serenity of Jesus’ Birth

The Peace and Serenity Brought by Jesus' Birth This week in The Carols & Cinema of Christmas Unwrapped, we explore The Nativity Story and the profound peace found in the chaos of Mary and Joseph’s journey. Carols and Cinema of Christmas – The Longing for the Savior

The Longing for the Savior This week, we kick off our new Christmas series, Carols and Cinema of Christmas Unwrapped, with a message titled The Longing for the Savior. As we explore the beloved hymn O Come, O Come, Emmanuel and dive into the timeless story of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, we’ll uncover how both the carol and the movie reflect the deep, universal longing for redemption and hope. Just as the Pevensie siblings long for deliverance from Narnia's eternal winter, we, too, yearn for the Savior to bring light and life into our world. Join us as we reflect on the promises of God, the fulfillment found in Jesus, and the joy of Christmas that breaks through every shadow. This is a message of anticipation, hope, and the ultimate gift of Emmanuel—God with us. Don’t miss this inspiring beginning to the season! Isaiah 9:2 Discussion topics Read Isaiah 9:2. What do you think it means to "see a great light" while walking in darkness? How have you experienced this in your own life? Like Narnia’s “always winter but never Christmas,” we sometimes feel stuck in a season of waiting or longing. What are some areas in your life where you feel like you’re in a perpetual winter? How does the promise of Emmanuel bring hope to those areas? Edmund’s story in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe illustrates the danger of being lured by false promises. What are some “Turkish delights” in our culture that tempt us away from trusting in God’s plans? How can we resist them? ACTION STEP- As a group, discuss one way you can bring hope to someone who feels like they are in a perpetual winter this season. Shattered Dreams, Unshakeable Faith – A Dream and Faith Restored

A Dream and Faith Restored What does it take to rebuild trust after it’s been broken? Joseph’s journey in Genesis 42–46 offers a profound lesson in reconciliation. He didn’t rush to forgive and forget but instead followed a step-by-step process to restore trust with his brothers. From testing their integrity to observing their sacrificial love, Joseph demonstrated wisdom in rebuilding a fractured relationship. Reconciliation wasn’t immediate—it came with a cost where trust is rebuilt gradually. This week, we’ll explore how Joseph’s approach mirrors God’s process of restoration in our lives and how we can apply these steps to our own broken relationships. Don’t miss this powerful message on rising above betrayal and finding true restoration! Genesis 42-46 Discussion topics Share a time when trust was broken in a relationship. What was the hardest part of rebuilding it? Discuss the idea of a "toll bridge" in rebuilding trust. What does a healthy "cost" look like in a relationship? Joseph asked his brothers to demonstrate sacrificial love (Judah’s offer). Why is evidence of change important in reconciliation? Do you think forgiveness is different from reconciliation? Why or why not? How does Joseph’s story mirror God’s process of reconciling us to Himself? How can this truth encourage you in your relationships? ACTION STEP- Identify one broken relationship in your life. What’s a practical step you can take this week to start rebuilding the bridge? Shattered Dreams, Unshakeable Faith – Turning Pain into Purpose

Turning Pain into Purpose Are you feeling forgotten in your faith, like you've been waiting endlessly for a breakthrough? In today’s message, we’ll look at how God’s work in Joseph’s life reveals His perfect timing, even when our plans seem delayed or uncertain. Joseph waited years in prison before being brought before Pharaoh, feeling overlooked yet steadfast in faith. Just as God’s “delays” developed Joseph’s character and prepared him for greater things, He may be preparing you in ways you can’t yet see. Join us as we dive into the story of how waiting can lead to purpose, growth, and God’s timing unfolding in powerful ways. Genesis 41 Discussion topics Joseph’s trials were part of God’s larger plan, not just about Joseph’s personal comfort. In what ways might God be using your current season to prepare you for something bigger? 2. What are some practical ways to keep your faith strong when God’s timing feels delayed? How can your Community Group support one another during these times? Think about a season in your life when you felt you were “in the waiting”. How did you see God preparing you, even if it wasn’t comfortable? How did that time shape your faith? ACTION STEP- This week, spend time in prayer about an area of your life where you’re waiting on God’s timing. Dreams on Hold, but Not Forgotten Do you ever wonder where God is when your prayers seem unanswered? Or why He sometimes feels silent? In this message, we'll see how Joseph waited two full years in prison after the cupbearer’s release, while God continued working behind the scenes. Join us to explore the purpose in God’s perfect timing. Genesis 40:1 Discussion topics Think of a time when you experienced a delay in something you were praying for or hoping for. Shattered Dreams, Unshakeable Faith – Hope in the Midst of Heartache

Hope in the Midst of Heartache What drives your decisions when temptation comes your way? How do you respond when your faith and integrity are tested? In this week's message, Finding Hope in the Midst of Heartache, we explore Joseph’s encounter with temptation and betrayal while serving in Potiphar’s house. Joseph faced overwhelming trials—sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned—yet he remained faithful to God through it all. Join us as we uncover how Joseph’s unwavering commitment to God brought blessings even in the midst of hardship and how we, too, can stand firm in the face of temptation and suffering. Genesis 39:7-20 Discussion topics Joseph resisted the advances of Potiphar’s wife by saying, "How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?" (Genesis 39:9). What steps can we take to stand firm in moments of temptation, especially when the consequences are high? Can you share a time when you faced a temptation or difficult decision? How did your faith play a role in your response? Despite facing false accusations and imprisonment, Genesis 39:21 says, "The LORD was with Joseph." How have you seen God’s presence in your own moments of suffering or hardship? How does Jesus’ suffering help us to understand this? Joseph ran from temptation when it was overwhelming (Genesis 39:12). What does it look like for us to “run” from the things that might lead us into sin today? ACTION STEP- Take time this week to identify an area where you may be tempted to compromise or feel overwhelmed. Genesis 39:1-6 Discussion topics Joseph’s story in Genesis 38 highlights transformation despite his sinful choices. What areas of your life do you believe God is working to transform, even if the situation seems broken or impossible? Joseph was called to serve Potiphar diligently even though he was a slave. How can we be diligent in serving God, even in places where we feel overlooked or disadvantaged? What practical steps can you take this week to serve well in your current situation? Sometimes we think our sin is only about behavior, but it often starts in the heart. What are some heart issues you might need to address? How does true transformation begin from the inside out? One Another – Live in Harmony with One Another

Live in Harmony with One Another Today’s conversation brings us to the end of our “One Another” series as we look at living in harmony with one another with special guest speaker, Pastor Jerry Casey of Providence Church. This conversation is a culmination of the journey we have taken throughout this series. As we finish out this series it is our hope that we have both encouraged and equipped you to not only embody the love of Jesus, but also to share it with the world around you. For it is written, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Romans 12:14-16 Discussion topics This week we welcomed Pastor Jerry Casey to share on how living in harmony with one another creates an opportunity for others to find Jesus. What part stood out to you or challenged you from his message? Pastor Jerry shared an illustration with an orange that helped demonstrate the potential of a seed to produce after its own kind only. How does this illustration translate to application in your own life as a “seed” full of potential? This final week in our “One Another” series is a culmination of every week. To live in harmony with one another we have to practice the following: Love One Another Encourage One Another Bear One Another’s Burdens Pray for One Another Serve One Another Forgive One Another Be Devoted to One Another Build Up One Another Confess to One Another Which of these have you grown in? Do you have a success story from practicing this truth? Which of these do you still need to work on? John 13:34-35 says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Take time to pray for one another. One Another – Confess to One Another

Confess to One Another Have you ever wondered why it's so powerful when we confess our sins? St. Augustine of Hippo taught that confession is not just about acknowledging our wrongs but about breaking the chains of guilt and secrecy that keep us from God's grace. By confessing, we open ourselves to healing and transformation, drawing closer to God and strengthening our relationships within the Christian community. This sermon will explore why confession is essential for spiritual renewal and how it can lead to a deeper experience of God’s mercy and love. James 5:16 Discussion topics What does James mean when he says to "confess your sins to one another"? How do you think this practice can bring healing, both spiritually and relationally? This past Sunday Pastor David emphasized the power of confession in breaking the chains of guilt and secrecy. How do you see guilt and secrecy impacting your relationship with God and others? How might confession help to overcome these barriers? Have you ever experienced a situation where confessing something to someone else brought you relief or healing? What was the outcome, and how did it affect your relationship with that person? What practical steps can we take to incorporate regular confession into our spiritual lives? How can we support each other in this practice? Check out our other audio series and video playlists that can help you find Jesus in every moment and then discover what's next

One Another – Forgive One Another

Forgive One Another Offenses are an inevitable part of life; it's not a matter of if they will come, but when. As we navigate through relationships and daily interactions, we will inevitably face moments of hurt and disappointment. Colossians 3:13 reminds us to forgive one another, just as the Lord forgave us. In this sermon, we will explore the powerful example of Nelson Mandela, who forgave his oppressors despite immense suffering. When we choose to forgive, we experience the dual outcomes of sorrow and release: sorrow for the pain and injustice, and release from the emotional and mental prison that unforgiveness creates. Join us as we delve into the transformative power of forgiveness and learn how to set ourselves and others free. Colossians 3:13 Discussion topics Can you recall a time when you were deeply hurt by someone? How did you initially respond, and what impact did it have on you emotionally and spiritually? The original meaning of courage is "to speak one’s mind by telling all of one’s heart." How does this definition challenge your current understanding of courage? Why do you think being vulnerable and real with others requires courage? Can you share a time when someone helped you bear a burden? How did that impact your relationship with them? One Another – Love One Another

Love One Another Each "one another" command highlights a specific aspect of how believers are called to relate to and support each other within the Christian community. In this series you will see practical application of these "one another" principles and how they can make a positive impact in the lives of individuals and the church community. We will discuss tangible examples that will inspire and motivate you to actively engage in these behaviors and live out their faith in meaningful ways. John 13:34-35 Discussion topics John 13:34-35 says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another”. What does this passage mean to you? Pastor David said that love is a value. Did you understand what he meant by this and, if so, how would you say it in your own words? In John 13:34 Jesus “commanded” us to love. Why is this a commandment and what does it say to us in regard to the execution of loving others? Where in your life do you need to love well? Where do you need to work on this commandment of loving others as yourself? Tough question here… do you love yourself? BONUS QUESTION: Read and discuss 1 John 3:16-17 which says, “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?”. Love & Marriage – The Father’s Role

The Father's Role This Father's Day we explore the profound, biblical role of fatherhood and manhood. We'll delve into the positive impact that fathers and male role models have in shaping the lives of children. From providing guidance and support to instilling values and faith, discover how the presence and leadership of a father can transform a child's future. Celebrate the strength, love, and wisdom that fathers bring to their families and communities, and be inspired by stories of faith and fatherhood from the scriptures. Genesis 1:26-28 Discussion topics No wrong or right answers here… how important are fathers to the family, to society and to the Kingdom of God? How is God like an earthly father and how is God different from an earthly father? It may help to read Psalm 103:13. As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him. Discuss Proverbs 23:24 which says, “The father of a righteous child has great joy; a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him”. In Genesis 1:26-28 it calls mankind to subdue and have dominion. We also discussed an experiment conducted in the 1960’s by John B. Calhoun called Mouse Utopia. What do you remember about this experiment? What lessons can we learn in regards to Mouse Utopia and our “dominion mandate” given in Genesis 1? Was there one part of the sermon that stood out most to you? Love & Marriage – Building a Lasting Love

Building a Lasting Love Have you ever been to a wedding and heard the Pastor read the “love chapter” out of the Bible? Even if you didn’t know it, you have probably heard 1 Corinthians 13 at some point in your life. This is a perfect description of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus suffers long and is kind. Jesus does not envy. He's not puffed up. He doesn't behave rudely. He doesn't seek his own. He's not provoked. He thinks no evil. He does not rejoice in iniquity. But Jesus rejoices in truth. He bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Jesus never fails. If this is a perfect picture of Jesus then we need to evaluate our lives against this list. This message leads us in that very evaluation. I Corinthians 13:4-8 Discussion topics .ugb-28778b3 h1,.ugb-28778b3 h2,.ugb-28778b3 h3,.ugb-28778b3 h4,.ugb-28778b3 h5,.ugb-28778b3 h6{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3 p,.ugb-28778b3 li,.ugb-28778b3 label,.ugb-28778b3 table{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h1,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h2,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h3,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h4,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h5,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h6{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > p,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > ol li,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > ul li{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3.ugb-container{justify-content:center;background-color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3.ugb-container:before{background-color:#313131} 1. 1 Corinthians 13 states that love is patient and is kind. Where have you drawn a line in your heart where a person in your life is no longer worthy of you showing kindness? Where have you determined that a cold shoulder is justified? 2. 1 Corinthians 13 also says love does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Where are you tempted to avoid the hard conversation because of the inconvenience it may cause you, or the rejection you might face from the person on the other end? 3. 1 Corinthians 13 continues with love does not envy or boast… love is not arrogant. Do you find yourself unable to rejoice in what others have because you feel it’s unfair that you don’t have it? 4. 1 Corinthians 13 makes a tough statement when it says love is not irritable or resentful. Do you find yourself rehearsing someone’s offenses against you over and over in your head, even after you’ve supposedly forgiven them?” If so, is that an indicator that there’s a record of wrongs that hasn’t been erased yet from your heart? 5. Was there one part of the sermon that stood out most to you? 6. Ephesians 5:33 says, “However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband”. It appears that men and women speak two different languages. Men speak the language of respect and women speak the language of love. Have you discovered this to be true and in what way do you practice being “multilingual”? Love & Marriage – Conflict Resolution & Forgiveness

Conflict Resolution & Forgiveness Do you know that the intent behind your words is usually irrelevant? Have you ever been on the receiving end of hurtful, accidental words and the offender begins explaining what they really meant? At that moment it's irritating and it's irrelevant, because in those moments, we don't need an explanation. In those moments when we've been hurt by someone's words we really need something else. This week we look at what we really need when hurtful words have been spoken. James 3:2-6 Discussion topics .ugb-28778b3 h1,.ugb-28778b3 h2,.ugb-28778b3 h3,.ugb-28778b3 h4,.ugb-28778b3 h5,.ugb-28778b3 h6{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3 p,.ugb-28778b3 li,.ugb-28778b3 label,.ugb-28778b3 table{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h1,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h2,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h3,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h4,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h5,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h6{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > p,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > ol li,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > ul li{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3.ugb-container{justify-content:center;background-color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3.ugb-container:before{background-color:#313131} 1. Read James 3:5–6. What stands out to you? What are some ways our words compare to a fire? 2. Can you remember a story (funny or otherwise) when you said one thing and meant something entirely different? What happened? 3. Why do we rush to explain ourselves rather than simply owning our guilt? Explaining feels urgent and appropriate in the moment. Why? 4. What can you do to remind yourself to opt for humility and sensitivity rather than an explanation next time you start a “word fire”? 5. Talk through the Matthew 18 process of restoring a friendship: Go to them. Take a third party, not as an advocate, but as a translator. Allow spiritual leaders to speak into your lives. Love & Marriage – Communication & Connection

Communication & Connection Do you know the weight of your words? We do know the power and weight of words when they hit us. They affect us in a positive or negative way. But all too often we don’t view those words in the same light when our words are hitting other people. In this week's conversation with Pastor David and his wife, Kami, we look at the three dynamics that determine what people hear, regardless of what we say. Ephesians 4:29 Discussion topics .ugb-28778b3 h1,.ugb-28778b3 h2,.ugb-28778b3 h3,.ugb-28778b3 h4,.ugb-28778b3 h5,.ugb-28778b3 h6{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3 p,.ugb-28778b3 li,.ugb-28778b3 label,.ugb-28778b3 table{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h1,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h2,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h3,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h4,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h5,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h6{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > p,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > ol li,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > ul li{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3.ugb-container{justify-content:center;background-color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3.ugb-container:before{background-color:#313131} 1. Take time to read and discuss Ephesians 4:29 which says, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen”. What do you think or hear when you read this scripture? Words can be for good or bad, to build, destroy, encourage, discourage, inspire, or actually wound. How does this scripture play into this thought about words? 2. On Sunday it was said, “Words are not equally weighted. Negative words weigh way more than positive words”. What are your thoughts about this statement? With this statement in mind, where do you have work to do and who would benefit from that work? 3. When it comes to the second point in Sunday’s message, the source determines the weight, you should always take into consideration who you are and what you represent to the person on the other side of you. Because even though you are in a relationship with them, chances are, it's not the same relationship. What relationship in your life has been damaged because you didn’t realize this perspective? 4. With everything you heard on Sunday, how important it is to understand that mouth-control is the ultimate in self-control? Love & Marriage – God’s Design for Marriage

God's Design for Marriage Is marriage a covenant or a contract and what is the difference between the two? Why did God institute marriage and is it something that is beneficial today? These are just a few of the questions that Pastor David and his wife Kami cover in today’s sermon. They also talk about practical steps that will improve your communication and how couples can relate to one another. This is a discussion that you may want to listen to more than once and, if you are in a relationship, it would be worth listening and discussing all that Pastor David and Kami reveal. Ephesians 5:21-27 Discussion topics .ugb-28778b3 h1,.ugb-28778b3 h2,.ugb-28778b3 h3,.ugb-28778b3 h4,.ugb-28778b3 h5,.ugb-28778b3 h6{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3 p,.ugb-28778b3 li,.ugb-28778b3 label,.ugb-28778b3 table{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h1,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h2,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h3,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h4,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h5,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h6{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > p,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > ol li,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > ul li{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3.ugb-container{justify-content:center;background-color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3.ugb-container:before{background-color:#313131} 1. In your own words, what is marriage? Pastor David and Kami said that it should be based on a covenant, not a contract. What did you hear or think during this portion of the sermon? 2. On Sunday it was said that relationships will go through changes. Usually, one person changes and it puts pressure on the spouse to do one of three things… Step up to the change that has occurred. Pull the partner back to where the relationship was. Walk away because the relationship has changed.Have you seen this happen before? Have you experienced this before? Can you see how God can use times like this to grow both people, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and relationally? 3. Read Ephesians 5:21-27 (even to 33 if you would like) and discuss. What do you see when you read this passage? What are the “job descriptions” given to the husbands and wives? In your own words, describe what this would look like in a marriage day-to-day. 4. What is something that you heard on Sunday, or discussed in your community group, that you need to put into practice immediately? Genesis 2:18 Discussion topics .ugb-28778b3 h1,.ugb-28778b3 h2,.ugb-28778b3 h3,.ugb-28778b3 h4,.ugb-28778b3 h5,.ugb-28778b3 h6{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3 p,.ugb-28778b3 li,.ugb-28778b3 label,.ugb-28778b3 table{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h1,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h2,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h3,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h4,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h5,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h6{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > p,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > ol li,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > ul li{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3.ugb-container{justify-content:center;background-color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3.ugb-container:before{background-color:#313131} 1. Take time to read Genesis 2:18-25 and discuss what you read, what you heard from the sermon, and what truths you now see. 4 Truths: Men and women are equal but different. Eve was to serve alongside not behind. Helpmate is a term of strength. As Eve is Adam's helper so is God our helper. 2. Have you personally experienced or witnessed positive examples of women fulfilling their roles according to Biblical principles? Can you share some of these experiences? 3. The word Ezer, which primarily means "helper," "assistant," or "one who provides aid”, is used 11 times in Psalms and each time it describes God as a helper. Question, do you think less of God because of the identification of God as a helper? Why then should we think this role diminishes a woman? 4. How can understanding the Biblical perspective on women's roles impact our daily lives, relationships, and communities? Words of Our Worship – Anchor to Promises

This week we look back at the history of revivals and the promise that Jesus gave us before he left the earth. This sermon will encourage you, lead you to a deeper place of worship, and contribute to your prayer life expanding. Let this message stir your faith to a deeper level. What role should the Holy Spirit play in your day-to-day life? 3. I would encourage your group to listen to the song “God of Revival” (Brian and Jenn Johnson, feat. Phil Wickham) and discuss the truths you heard in song. If your group would be comfortable with singing together, you may want to consider a time of worship to this song as well? 4. Words of Our Worship – Anchor to Eternity

Anchor to Eternity This week we explore the song “Firm Foundation” which expresses the truth that we can build our life on the firm foundation of Christ. Through the finished work of the cross, He anchors us to eternity. What happens when we anchor to eternity? Jesus calls us to build on that foundation through worship and experience His presence. We also see that the reality of Heaven is a great source of comfort and strength as we experience this life. Our hope in Jesus, the anchor of our soul, has promises for this life and the next. How does knowing that we are connected to eternity change our lives today? Join us as we look at the promise of eternal life through the words of our worship. Heb 6:19-20, John 3:16, Matt 7:24-27, 2 Tim 2:19, Heb 12:28, Isaiah 28:16, Psalms 22:3, Eph 5:15-20, 1 Thess. 4:13, 2 Cor 4:17-18, Rev 15:3 Discussion topics .ugb-28778b3 h1,.ugb-28778b3 h2,.ugb-28778b3 h3,.ugb-28778b3 h4,.ugb-28778b3 h5,.ugb-28778b3 h6{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3 p,.ugb-28778b3 li,.ugb-28778b3 label,.ugb-28778b3 table{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h1,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h2,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h3,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h4,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h5,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > h6{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > p,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > ol li,.ugb-28778b3-content-wrapper > ul li{color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3.ugb-container{justify-content:center;background-color:#313131}.ugb-28778b3.ugb-container:before{background-color:#313131} 1. When we are anchored to eternity by Jesus, we have an opportunity to build our life according to His teachings. He calls it being wise and building your house on a rock. What does building your life on Jesus look like to you? What are some of the hardest challenges you have faced in your effort to build on this foundation? Are there areas of your life that you know are built on sand? 2. The chorus of the song “Firm Foundation” has only four words. (No He Won't Fail) It was referred to as a ‘pile driver’ type of chorus. How can we use songs like this to strengthen our connection to Jesus as the bedrock of our faith? Have you ever had your world shaken and needed to reinforce your connection to the Rock of your salvation? Was there a specific song that helped you through that moment? 3. How has knowing that you will live with Jesus for eternity comforted you in the losses and disappointments of life? Have you ever considered that Jesus, through His death and resurrection, has gone into Heaven as a forerunner for us? 4. Have your group listen to the song “Firm Foundation” (Cody Carnes) and discuss the truths you heard in the song. If your groups would be comfortable with signing together, you may want to consider a time of worship to this song too.
