The Stations of the Cross – Station of Crucifixion

Station of Crucifixion Was the cross chaos… or was it intentional? From the outside, it looks like everything is falling apart—violence, betrayal, mocking, and death. But what if every detail was unfolding exactly as planned? In this message, we walk through the crucifixion in Luke 23 and John 19 and uncover something powerful: nothing about the cross was random. From Jesus’ prayer of forgiveness, to soldiers gambling for His clothes, to the sign above His head, to a dying criminal finding paradise—each moment was foretold, fulfilled, and deeply intentional. So what does that mean for you? If God was that intentional then… could it be that your life—and even this moment—is not random either? This is more than a story about what happened to Jesus. It’s an invitation to discover how intentional God is about reaching you. Luke 23, John 19 Discussion topics HEAD – What did Jesus say to you through the Word? What stood out to you most about how intentional God was in the details of the cross? Which moment impacted you the most (forgiveness, garments, sign, family, vinegar, or the criminals), and why? How does the story of the two criminals help us understand the difference between being near Jesus and responding to Him? HEART – How did it make you feel? Where in your life do things feel random, chaotic, or out of control right now? How does seeing God’s intentionality at the cross challenge or encourage you in those areas? Do you relate more to the criminal who resisted Jesus or the one who turned to Him? Why? (Pastor put this here to be hard hitting 😁) HANDS – What are you going to do with it? What is one practical way you can respond to God’s intentional love this week? Who is one person in your life that God may be intentionally placing on your heart right now? Group Action / Prayer Moment (SAME ACTION AS LAST WEEK) How is everyone doing with inviting someone to church? Have you invited someone yet? What has been easy or difficult about it? How can we encourage or support each other this week? What is one step you will take before next week to intentionally connect someone to Jesus? Stations of the Cross – Station of Warning

Station of Warning How does the entire story of the Bible lead to a warning spoken by Jesus on the road to the cross? And what happens when a nation or a people mistake religious identity for real obedience to God? In this message we step into the next moment in the Stations of the Cross as Jesus speaks to the women of Jerusalem in Luke 23. While the crowd mourns His suffering, Jesus turns the focus away from Himself and warns them that judgment is coming—not because faith itself is ending, but because the religious system they trusted was about to collapse. From Genesis to the prophets to the Roman world of Jesus’ day, the Bible shows a repeated pattern: when people cling to the form of religion but abandon the heart of obedience, God eventually exposes it. This message wrestles honestly with what that warning meant for Jerusalem in AD 70 and what it may mean for cultural Christianity today. The call of Jesus has never been about comfort or identity—it has always been the same life-changing invitation: Follow Me. Luke 23:27-31 Discussion topics HEAD – What did Jesus say to you through the Word? What was Jesus warning the women of Jerusalem about in Luke 23:27–31, and what does that reveal about the kind of religion He was confronting? Why do you think people can stay close to religious activity while still being far from true surrender to Jesus? Another way to maybe ask the same thing would be: What is the difference between knowing about Jesus and actually following Jesus? HEART – How did it make you feel? What part of this message challenged you the most personally? Where are you most tempted to settle for surface-level faith instead of real surrender? When you think about being known in community, what excites you and what makes you hesitate? HANDS – What are you going to do with it? What is one area of your life where Jesus may be asking you to let go of an old pattern, assumption, or false source of security? What can you do this week to pursue Jesus with intention instead of just routine? The Stations of the Cross – Station of Your Cross

Station of Your Cross What if the interruption you are resisting is the hand of God rerouting your life? In this message, Pastor David traces a surprising thread through Scripture, from the missionary impact of Paul to the church at Antioch, to the people of Cyrene, all the way back to one unforgettable moment when Simon of Cyrene was pulled from a crowd to carry the cross of Jesus. This sermon explores how one unexpected encounter with Christ can transform a family, shape a legacy, and create a ripple that reaches far beyond what anyone could imagine. Mark 15:21 Discussion topics Opening Reminder / Check-In We began this journey on Ash Wednesday with Darkness to Dawn. We have been making space for God, reflecting, fasting, praying, and preparing our hearts for Easter. As a group, take a moment to reflect (please don’t feel like you need to cover each of these following questions one-by-one, but rather look at them as a reflective conversation starter): Since Ash Wednesday, what has God been showing you, changing in you, or stirring in you? Have there been any moments during this journey that felt especially meaningful, challenging, or unexpected? How has fasting, prayer, or intentional reflection affected you so far?Question one. HEAD – What did Jesus say to you through the Word? In this week’s message, what stood out to you most about Simon of Cyrene and the possibility that one interrupted moment can ripple into generations? Why do you think God often works through interruptions instead of only through our plans? How does the story of Simon challenge the way we think about burden, inconvenience, and surrender? HEART – How did it make you feel? Is there an area where you have been resisting God because His direction feels inconvenient, uncomfortable, or costly? What part of your life feels interrupted right now? HANDS – What are you going to do with it? As we continue this Easter journey, what are you personally doing during this fast to make more room for God? Is there one habit, distraction, or comfort you feel God is asking you to lay down during this season? Stations of the Cross – Station of Judgement

Station of Judgement What happens when truth threatens your expectations? And what do we do when the Jesus in front of us doesn’t match the Jesus we prefer? In Week Three of The Stations of the Cross, we step into the Station of Judgment. From the council at daybreak to Pilate’s courtroom and the shouting crowd, we watch motivated reasoning unfold in real time. The verdict is chosen before the evidence is heard. Religious leaders defend power. Pilate protects position. The crowd demands a Messiah who matches their anger. Barabbas, the guilty son of the father, walks free. Jesus, the true Son of the Father, stands condemned. This message explores how we do the same—politically, relationally, spiritually—when identity feels threatened and control feels challenged. They didn’t crucify Jesus because they lacked evidence. They crucified Him because the evidence threatened their expectations. Luke 22:66-71, Luke 23:13-25 Discussion topics HEAD – What did Jesus say to you through the Word? In Luke 22:66–71, what do you notice about the way the Sanhedrin questions Jesus? What does their response reveal about their posture toward truth? How would you define “motivated reasoning” in your own words? Where do you see it clearly in this passage? What is the difference between condemnation and righteous discernment according to Scripture (Matthew 7:1–5, John 7:24)? HEART – How did it make you feel? Where in your life are you most tempted to practice motivated reasoning — politically, relationally, spiritually? Is there an area where you’ve been listening to confirm instead of listening to understand? HANDS – What are you going to do with it? Is there a relationship where you need to revisit assumptions you’ve made about someone’s motives? How can you practice righteous discernment without slipping into condemnation? What is one step you can take to align your expectations of Jesus with who He actually reveals Himself to be? The Stations of the Cross – Station of Denial

Station of Denial Do you feel the moment you used to be bold, and then suddenly the room got warmer, the questions got sharper, and your courage got quieter? In this week’s Station of Denial (Luke 22:54–62), we step into the courtyard where Peter follows Jesus at a distance, sits by the fire, and over the span of hours denies Him three times, until the rooster crows and Jesus turns to look straight at him. This isn’t a story about how to “try harder,” it’s a sobering look at how convictions often stop where discomfort starts, and how self-confidence collapses when the pressure gets personal. But it’s also a story of mercy: failure doesn’t have to be a full stop, and even in the moment Peter breaks, Jesus is already holding him with prayer. As we walk the Stations with intentional fasting and surrender, we quiet our appetites long enough to face the question honestly: when the heat rises, do I stand with Jesus, or do I keep my distance? Luke 22 Discussion topics HEAD – What did Jesus say to you through the Word? Have you ever “followed at a distance” — close enough to observe Jesus, but far enough to avoid association? What feels more familiar in your own life: regret like Judas or repentance like Peter? Why? HEART – How did it make you feel? Where might self-confidence be quietly replacing dependence on Jesus in your walk right now? What is the significance of Jesus’ words, “I have prayed for you,” in contrast to Judas’ outcome? HANDS – What are you going to do with it? What is one area where you need to move from distance back to closeness with Jesus this week? How are you doing with your fast? Have you heard from Jesus during this process? Check out our other audio series and video playlists that can help you find Jesus in every moment and then discover what's next

Stations of the Cross – The Station of Betrayal

The Station of Betrayal This message begins our 6-week conversation entitled “The Stations of the Cross”. The cross is not a relic of religion but a revelation of relationship, and the Station of Betrayal reveals how deeply Jesus enters human suffering. In Gethsemane, Jesus chooses surrender, trust, and obedience, even as He is betrayed by someone close. Through the story of Judas, we see how divided loyalties, unmet expectations, and the desire for control can quietly lead us away from faithfulness. This station invites us to examine where we reach for something other than Jesus—and to remember that even in betrayal, grace is at work. Matthew 26:36-56 Discussion topics HEAD (What did you learn? What new understanding did you gain?) What does this passage teach us about the difference between proximity to Jesus and transformation by Jesus? Why is it significant that Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss? What does that reveal about the nature of betrayal? Betrayal often begins quietly. Judas didn’t walk away from Jesus all at once—he slowly stopped agreeing with Him. Where have you noticed small compromises or divided loyalties creeping into your faith? Where did you feel personally confronted when Pastor Aaron contrasted what Judas reached for versus what Jesus reached for? Judas Reached for Control. Jesus Reached for the Father’s Will. Judas Reached for Results. Jesus Reached for Obedience. Judas Reached for Security. Jesus Reached for Trust. Judas Reached for Power. Jesus Reached for Surrender. Judas Reached for Transaction. Jesus Reached for Relationship. Judas Reached for Escape. Jesus Reached for Mercy. Judas Reached for a Counterfeit Crown. Jesus Reached for the Cross. Pastor Aaron said, “Judas didn’t stop following Jesus overnight. He slowly stopped agreeing with Him”. Did anything in this message, or statement, expose an area where your loyalty to Jesus has been divided? How did that sit with you? HAND (What are you going to do differently this week?) Where in your life do you need to shift from reaching for control to reaching for the Father’s will? What practical action can you take this week to move from proximity to Jesus toward deeper surrender and transformation? When You Can’t Feel It, Remember It – Stone of Victory

Stone of Victory Have you ever stood on the edge of something new and wondered if you’re really ready for it? What if the breakthrough you’re praying for isn’t just about getting through the river, but about remembering who brought you there? In this message from Joshua 4, we look at the Stone of Victory and discover that God told Israel to build a memorial not to celebrate their strength, but to anchor their story in His faithfulness. The Jordan represents irreversible transition, Gilgal becomes the place where identity and shame are rolled away, and Jericho reminds us that opposition often waits on the other side of obedience. Before strategies, there were stones. Before battle, there was remembrance. This sermon will help you see that real victory isn’t something you fight for, it’s something you fight from, because God was faithful before you were confident. Joshua 4 Discussion topics HEAD – What did Jesus say to you through the Word? What stood out to you about Jacob’s condition when God met him, and what does that reveal about how God initiates encounters? What new insight did you gain about Bethel as more than a place, but a pattern of encounter throughout Scripture? HEART – How did it make you feel? How did it affect you to hear that God showed up before Jacob changed anything about himself? Are there places in your life where you’ve experienced God before but have drifted from returning there? How does that make you feel? Did anything in this message expose areas where idols, distractions, or self‑reliance have quietly replaced dependence on God? HANDS – What are you going to do with it? What would it look like for you to intentionally create a place of encounter with God this week? Is there a “stone” you need to set up again, such as a journal entry, prayer habit, or spiritual discipline, to remember what God has done? Are there any foreign gods or misplaced trusts that need to be buried so you can fully return to God’s presence? When You Can’t Feel It, Remember It – Stone of Encounter

Stone of Encounter Where do you go when life starts unraveling? What happens when shame, disappointment, or compromise sneak in? For Jacob, it was Bethel—the place of encounter. He didn't deserve it, wasn’t looking for it, and didn’t even realize God was near… until he woke up and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was unaware.” This Sunday at Navigation, we’re talking about the Stone of Encounter—the moment when a hard place becomes holy, and a running man becomes a covenant carrier. What if your story needs a Bethel moment—a place to return, rebuild, and remember that God is still with you? Genesis 28 Discussion topics HEAD – What did Jesus say to you through the Word? When You Can’t Feel It, Remember It – Stone of Help

Stone of Help Are you waiting on God to show up while secretly wondering if He still will? If you're starting 2026 craving clarity, tired of striving, or unsure why breakthrough hasn’t come, this episode is for you. In Altar of Help, Pastor David unpacks how surrender—not superstition—opens the door to God’s power. It’s not about hype; it’s about humility. Tune in and discover what happens when you can’t feel it but choose to remember it. 1 Samuel 7 Discussion topics HEAD – What did Jesus say to you through the Word? What was the spiritual condition of Israel before God helped them in 1 Samuel 7? How does the story of the Ark in Philistine territory challenge our understanding of God’s holiness? What do Baal and Ashtoreth represent spiritually, and how do they still show up in our lives today? HEART – How did it make you feel? Do I ever assume God will help me even when I’m not living in surrender or obedience? Have I treated God’s presence casually or used Him like a “good luck charm” in any area? How do I typically respond when conviction comes—do I surrender, resist, or push God away? HANDS – What are you going to do with it? What is one idol (false security or source of intimacy) I need to remove from my life? What could it look like to build a personal “altar” this week (journal, prayer, conversation, etc.)? Head, Heart, Hands – Know How To Apply God’s Word

Know How To Apply God's Word Do you ever read the Bible but walk away unsure what to do with it? Or feel like you know Scripture but aren’t sure it’s actually changing anything? In this message, we explore how God’s Word was never meant to just inform us, but to transform us. Using the story of Philemon, Onesimus, and Paul, we learn how to move beyond information into application by asking three simple but powerful questions: What is Jesus saying to me? How does this make me feel? And what am I going to do with it? This sermon invites anyone who’s felt stuck, intimidated, or spiritually dry to rediscover the Bible as a living, active voice that meets us right where we are and calls us forward into real obedience, healing, and growth. Philemon 1 Discussion topics HEAD – What did Jesus say to you through the Word? What new insight did you gain from the story of Paul, Philemon, and Onesimus? (Prompt discussion on Roman slavery, reconciliation, and Christian love.) How does this short book help us better understand the character of God? (Explore themes of forgiveness, intercession, and restoration.) HEART – How did it make you feel? What challenged or stirred something in you during this week’s message? (Personal application — being asked to forgive, receive correction, or extend grace.) Have you ever felt like Onesimus — afraid to return and unsure if you’d be accepted? (Let group members share personal stories of reconciliation or restoration.) What do you feel when you think about how Paul positioned himself between two people in conflict? (Reflect on the emotional weight of advocacy and grace. HANDS – What are you going to do with it? Is there a relationship in your life where God is asking you to be a Paul, Philemon, or Onesimus? (Challenge everyone to choose courage, forgiveness, or advocacy this week.) What specific action can you take this week to demonstrate gospel-driven love to someone in your world? (Think practical — text, coffee, write a note, open a conversation.) Who is someone you can disciple or invite into this kind of deeper Bible engagement with you? Head, Heart, Hands – Know How to Study God’s Word

Know How to Study God's Word Ever opened the Bible wanting to hear from God… but walked away confused, bored, or unsure how it applied to your life? In this sermon, we explore why so many people struggle to engage Scripture and how God’s Word was never meant to stop at information alone. The Bible is living, active, and meant to shape not just what we know but who we become. This message invites you to move beyond simply hearing God’s Word to truly knowing it and living it, allowing Scripture to transform your heart, your character, and your everyday life. Philemon 1 Discussion topics HEAD – What did Jesus say to you through the Word? As you listened to the sermon, what scripture or truth stood out about how we’re supposed to approach the Bible? What did you hear in the book of Philemon that challenged you or even made you uncomfortable? How did the tools or techniques (like context, different genres, or S.P.E.C.K.) change how you think about Bible study? HEART – How did it make you feel? When you heard the challenge to dig deeper into God’s Word, did you feel excited, intimidated, overwhelmed, or something else? Did anything stir your heart—like a conviction about how you’ve handled scripture in the past or a hunger to learn more? How did this message affect your view of God’s desire to speak personally to you through scripture? HANDS – What are you going to do with it? What step can you take this week to study the Bible with greater intentionality or structure?
