Cymande are the unsung heroes of hip hop, disco and a host of other genres, whose message of peace, love and funk sailed beyond Britain's shores and helped shape music for five decades. Long after they stopped playing, the music played on, so they returned to play some more.In the racially turbulent UK of the early ‘70s, a group of black musicians came together in South London with a common love of rhythms and a message of peace. Cymande – with the dove as their symbol – combined jazz, funk, soul and Caribbean grooves to form a unique sound. Despite success in the USA they faced indifference in their native Britain, becoming disillusioned and disbanding. But the music lived on, as new generations of artists imbibed and reworked their pioneering sounds in fresh ways. LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE traces the history of voting rights struggles in the United States from 1960 through the present day. The film draws parallels between the Mississippi voter registration drive of the early 1960's and North Carolina's 'Moral Monday' movement in the present day. A key goal of the film is connecting the dots between the generations to contextualize the current political environment surrounding race and voting.

His most recent work, JOE BUFFALO, is a short hybrid doc executive produced by Tony Hawk and distributed by The New Yorker about an Indigenous skateboarding legend and survivor of Canada’s notorious Indian Residential School system. It screened at Tribeca, won the Audience Award at SXSW, and made the 2021 Awards Shortlists for the IDA and DOC NYC.
