It makes its world premier at the Calgary Underground Film Festival Apr 29th at the Globe Cinema.THUNDER: THE LIFE AND DEATH OF ARTURO GATTI examines the Montreal boxer, and world champion. He was a legend in his time, but his mysterious death has remained suspiciously unresolved for years. This documentary series explores forensic evidence that has been overlooked, and uncovers a new narrative about Arturo that will change everything. Arturo Gatti’s name still echoes in the streets of Montréal. For many, his name represents the glory of modern boxing. But for others, he is a reminder of a murder gone unpunished. Officially, Arturo’s death was ruled as a suicide: he was found allegedly hung by the purse strap of his wife, Amanda Rodrigues. More than 10 years later, the cloud of murder still hangs over the story.

For the annual CRUEL X-MAS watch, Christian Zyp punishes the eyes of Mark Davies and Lucas Anders by having them watch the animated Christmas special "Rapsittie Street Kids: Believe in Santa".Rapsittie Street Kids: Believe in Santa is a CGI musical Christmas special that aired once during the 2002 holiday season in syndication and on WB+ (a prepackaged channel for smaller markets). Since it never aired again after that, it was considered to be lost for over a decade. It finally resurfaced on the Internet in 2015 to widespread mockery for its extremely poor quality, most notably its unfinished, stiff, dated (even for its era) computer animation. The plot of the special focuses on a spoiled rich girl named Nicole (Paige O'Hara) throwing away a teddy bear given by one of her classmates and later scrambling to find it after learning of its sentimental background.

Lindsey Campbell and Mark Davies examine another film funded by Telefilm to see if it worth appreciating. This time it's Sook-Yin Lee's film OCTAVIO IS DEAD. A cryptic tale with no lack of sexual undertones, Octavio is Dead! follows Tyler (Sarah Gadon) on an adventure of self-discovery.In OCTAVIO IS DEAD Tyler escapes her overbearing mother (Rosanna Arquette) and travels to the rich and surreal world of her deceased father, Octavio (Raoul Trujillo), a father she never knew. She discovers that “the past is never dead” as she navigates her own sexual identity and the occult. Her ability to know the difference between fantasy and reality becomes an obstacle for Tyler, and she speaks to her late father who tells her that “you can’t hide forever.”

Christian Zyp interviews Becca Kozak (writer/director/editor) about her documentary GIRLS WITH GUTS. It is distributed through Darkside Releasing.GIRLS WITH GUTS explores post-modern feminism through interviews with primarily Vancouver area Canadian horror movie directors. In Carol Clover’s seminal academic paper on feminism in slasher movies (which ended up in her book “Men, Womenand Chainsaws”), she suggested what was original viewed as a misogynistic format was actually a much more subversive feminist arena with final girls emasculating the killer male force in the narratives. Now we get to see how far that path goes deep into the dark genre woods, with a coven of filmmakers that are conjuring up some very sick and terrific s**t, as it’s all murder, guts, and fun with this punk-style documentary.

Decades later, Steve struggles to reckon with his chaotic past.
