The honesty box - a small stall where Kiwi farmers can sell their produce - has been a road trip tradition, but there's been an uptick in thieves. Farmers and residents have voiced outrage as thieves have been taking money and products away from the stalls, and people are fed up. Paul Goldsmith: Justice Minister on the Government putting a pause on four year electoral terms this election

The Government has ditched the idea of a referendum on a four year electoral term this election. Justice Minister Paul Goldsmith says a bill has been taken to select committee as part of coalition agreements.  But he says to have a referendum would require passing the bill through the rest of the stages in enough time before the election.  Goldsmith says the Government can't do everything at once, and taking care of more pressing issues, like crime, is more important at this stage. Shane Jones: NZ First MP calls for jail terms for owners following Northland dog attack

There's growing calls for additional regulations around feral dogs - and a recent attack has sparked renewed debate. A woman was killed in Northland's Kaihu yesterday by dogs, and the attack has prompted concern and outrage. NZ First MP Shane Jones says the character of the owners involved is more feral, and there needs to be a no-tolerance policy. Chris Bishop: Transport Minister on the Government's changes to the full license test

The Government's removing the full license test as part of major changes - saying it will save time and money. Drivers under 25 will spend a year on their restricted before moving to their full, while over 25s will get six months. A zero alcohol limit will apply to people on their learners' or restricted, regardless of their age. Most changes will come into effect next year. Malindi MacLean: Outward Bound CEO on the new Crisis of Confidence report highlighting difficulties faced by young people

A new report by  Outward Bound reveals young Kiwis are feeling less optimistic about the future than ever, with a majority believing the world is on a downward trajectory. The report shows over a quarter of young people have 'little to no confidence' and one in four young men report having zero close friends. Outward Bound CEO Malindi MacLean says young people feel like they have less power to change the world around them, and this perceived lack of agency feels confronting. "Young people who spend more than four hours a day online... they're feeling like they have less agency and control. Civil Defence is warning landslides can happen without warning, after this week's record-breaking downpours across the upper North Island. The adverse weather conditions have triggered slips across the region, and people have been put at risk as a result. Andrew Stolte from the University of Auckland explained how to identify banks or cliffs that could pose a risk. "At the top, if a slip is starting to happen, you might see evidence of cracks forming at the top of a slope, indicating that mass is going to come down and move at you." Disastrous land movement in Mount Maunganui this morning, following days of adverse weather impacting the upper North Island. Several people are unaccounted for after a slip near a campsite earlier today, at the base of Mount Maunganui's Mauao. Brian Kelly: Newstalk ZB reporter on the rescue efforts taking place in Mount Maunganui

People still aren't accounted for in Mount Maunganui's Beachside Holiday Park, after a landslide roared into the campsite at the base of the mountain earlier this morning. Tauranga City Council says most people have been evacuated from the park, and they're contacting campground guests who checked in and out. Mark Mitchell: Emergency Management Minister on the Mount Maunganui landslide

Officials say the number of people not accounted after a campground landslide at the base of Mount Maunganui is in the single figures and includes young people.  Rescuers are working at Beachside Holiday Park, devastated by a slip this morning that swamped tents, cars, caravans, a toilet block, and the hot pools.  Emergency Management Minister Mark Mitchell told Matt Heath and Tyler Adams that it’s definitely still an active rescue situation, and those on the ground are flat-out busy.   He says it's a substantiative slip and there’s extensive damage, but the team is working as quickly and diligently as they can.   Mitchell says the community has been outstanding in their support for those impacted, and they’re all trying to wrap as much support, comfort, and reassurance around them as possible.  LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Today marks a significant anniversary for Newstalk ZB's Raylene Ramsay, as she celebrates 40 years with NZME. Ramsay started out in radio in 1976 as an intern at 2ZB Wellington, before returning as a network newsreader for Radio New Zealand. She’s since co-hosted 2ZB's breakfast show with Lindsay Yeo, presented 9 to Noon for 2ZA in Palmerston North and worked as a breakfast network newsreader for Classic Hits. She returned upstairs to Newstalk ZB in 2018 as a newsreader for Afternoons and Drive and went on to win the Services to Broadcasting award in 2020.  Matt Heath and Tyler Adams looked back on her 40 years in the business.
