This week, Tyler hangs out with Richard Aceves of Strongfit after wrapping up the Coaches Week at CrossFit 1080 in Woodbury, MN. Richard tells the story of how he has navigated the waters of the CrossFit, Powerlifting, and Strongman world and how he came to train under and begin to work with Julien at Strongfit. Richard lives one of the most interesting lives imaginable, and travels the world full time without any home base. We learn some of the highs and lows of that lifestyle, and just how much fun a guy can really have when the whole world is your playground. This week, Tyler sat down with Julien Pineau and Richard Aceves of StrongFit to discuss what he had learned thus far after attending the StrongFit Seminar and Coaches Week. Basically, Tyler's athletic abilities were comically awful, but Julien says there may still be hope for him! Julien and Richard are working to develop the CrossFit training methodology into a more sustainable, movement-based methodology in hopes of avoiding the common injuries and pitfalls that continue to derail competitive CrossFitters. I just signed up for the bench only and managed to place first in my weight division. My attempts were 369lbs, 385lbs, and 407.5lbs. The first two moved smooth and easy, the last one I just didn't have the strength to lock it out, but it was pretty close. Got some more work to do. This week, we're honored to bring Mike Bledsoe and Doug Larson onto the Massenomics Podcast. I found the Barbell Shrugged Podcast around the time I started doing fitness things, and it basically dominated my podcast app for about 6 months.
