Lubbock Countys 2024-2025 budget year concluded with a surplus, adding nearly $3 million to reserves instead of dipping into them. An independent audit confirmed the countys financial health, with no issues flagged and a net position jumping $50 million from last year. Commissioners praised the county auditors conservative estimates, but also criticized her for off-base numbers on investments and property taxes. Despite no employee raises last year, the surplus opens doors for firefighter funding, road fixes, and constable moves under state rules. Commissioners feel vindicated on the tax rate, proving the county can thrive without hikes while growth covers new needs. Support the show:Get a discount at https://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
