#88 Ben Mumme: Real Wealth Is an Abundance of What Is Truly Valuable

Ben Mumme is the founder, curator, and podcast host of the Living Your Greatness Podcast. The purpose of the podcast is to inspire millions of people across the world to achieve greatness and enhance their overall personal well-being. Living Your Greatness is becoming the go-to resource that CEOs, elite athletes, professional coaches, and entrepreneurs rely on to upgrade themselves. The podcast helps you master the best of what other people have already figured out. __ In this episode, Ben explains that real wealth is an abundance of what is truly valuable. Wealth is a state of mind, not just your account balance. Societal pressures can have you easily fall into thinking money and status defines wealth but it goes beyond that. Ben discusses that wealth is about having the time and health to enjoy the significant net worth you've built with the people you love. It is important not to live a life where you are rich in money but poor in other things that matter more. Living your greatest life requires years of learning, practicing, and building four different types of wealth: 1. Financial Wealth (Money) Financial wealth measures how much money or assets someone has accumulated. It encompasses the ability to be financially free. 2. Social Wealth (Status) Social wealth comes down to how you interact with the world. This is determined by your relationships with other people, such as family, friends, and community. 3. Time Wealth (Freedom) Time wealth is the freedom to choose how and where you spend your days. Most people are too busy trying to achieve financial wealth that they ignore time wealth. 4. Physical Wealth (Health) Physical wealth is the glue that holds all the other types of wealth and our life together. Physical wealth is more than just physical, it is mental health. Being able to feel happy, and invigorated each day. Ben then explains that we all have the ability to achieve all four types of wealth within our lives and only when we do get to this point can we begin to feel the wealth of fulfillment. This occurs when all four types of wealth are at play at the same time and in the right balance. This is the place where we should all strive to be. Each of these types of wealth requires years of dedication, practice, humility, learning, and understanding. It should be viewed as a lifelong process that doesn't end because there is no final destination. __ Host: Ben Mumme Twitter Medium YouTube Instagram __ Let's Connect👇 Drop a review and me know what's resonating with you about the show! #87 Ben Mumme: The Anatomy of A Champion Mindset

__ In this episode, Ben talks about the anatomy of a champion mindset. To become a true champion, we must think like a true champion. Additionally, they must have a clear vision, take small steps forward, reflect on the learning experiences, and build learning into betterment. Ben then explains that sports can teach us a lot about a champion mindset. Many natural athletes don't make it, while other athletes with deficiencies do. For instance, Pete Gray, with only one arm, made it to the major leagues; successful golfer Ben Hogan was an uncoordinated child, and the runner Glenn Cunningham's legs were badly burned. The many obvious examples of failed naturals and successful, though flawed, athletes should have debunked the myth of talent, but it hasn't. Ben speaks about 3 inspiring stories of athletes (Michael Jordan, Wilma Rudolph, Jackie Joyner-Kersee) who successfully demonstrated a champion mindset. Whether it is sports or other areas of life, there are 10 character traits that are significantly valuable when deciding to foster a champion mindset: Persistence Fearlessness Think Before You Speak Sincerity Positive Attitude Integrity Helpfulness Ambition Responsibility Compassion __ Host: Ben Mumme Twitter Medium YouTube Instagram __ Let's Connect👇 Drop a review and me know what's resonating with you about the show! It is such a basic component of our natures that we are nearly oblivious to its pervasiveness in our lives. Curiosity is thought of as the noblest of human drives. #81 Ben Mumme: Mental Models - How To Become a Better Thinker

__ In this episode, Ben talks about mental models and how to become a better thinker. A mental model is the specific thought process you use to examine a problem. There are many types of known mental models, and each one takes a unique view of a foreign concept in order to reduce its complexity. In short, it is the mind's way of making sense of something. As James Clear explains: "Each mental model offers a different framework that you can use to look at life…If you develop a bigger toolbox of mental models, you'll improve your ability to solve problems because you'll have more options for getting to the right answer. This is one of the primary ways that truly brilliant people separate themselves from the masses of smart individuals out there." There are tens of thousands of mental models, and every discipline has its own set that you can learn through coursework, mentorship, or first-hand experience. Ben shares 10 mental models that you can add to your thinking toolbox. 1 — Circle of Competence 2 — Divergent vs. Convergent Thinking 3 — Historical Wisdom 4 — Inversion 5 — Map Territory Relation 6 — Middle Ground Fallacy 7 — Paradigm Shift 8 — Systemics 9 — The 5 Whys 10 — Weasel Words Being shown a new mental model isn't enough. To get real value out of them, you need to understand them deeply. You need to see them in many contexts and get a feel for how they work. But, if you hear an abstraction come up again and again, and you don't understand it well, that's a good sign there's a hidden mental model waiting to be unlocked. __ Host: Ben Mumme Twitter: https://twitter.com/mumme_ben Medium: https://benjaminmumme.medium.com/ YouTube: https://bit.ly/3fAcFrt Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/livingyourg... __ Let's Connect👇 Drop a review and me know what's resonating with you about the show! #79 Ben Mumme: Mental Fitness Is Just as Important as Physical Fitness

Ben Mumme is the founder, curator, and podcast host of the Living Your Greatness Podcast. Living Your Greatness is becoming the go-to resource that CEOs, elite athletes, professional coaches, and entrepreneurs rely on to upgrade themselves. The podcast helps you master the best of what other people have already figured out. __ In this episode, Ben talks about how mental fitness is just as important as physical fitness. You can have a healthy, flexible, and lean body but can lack a healthy and flexible mind. For this reason, an emerging trend is gaining traction called mental fitness. Mental fitness is defined as a state of well-being and having a positive sense of how we feel, think, and act. There are three ways to go; keeping up with stress and anxiety, becoming dull and unable to find interest in anything, or maintaining your mind sharp and active for as long as possible. Just as there are components to physical fitness, there are components to mental fitness. These are known as the four pillars of mental fitness. The benefits of developing strong mental fitness: 1. Being present 2. The ability to respond, not react 3. Improved cognitive function 4. Increased positive emotions of optimism 5. More confidence 6. Ability to develop positive habits in all areas of life 7. Improved sleep One of modern neuroscience's most exciting findings is that our brains are neuroplastic, meaning that they can change. The way that we think and behave can strengthen or weaken specific neural pathways. This means that we can influence the structure and functioning of our brains to maximize our mental well-being. __ Host: Ben Mumme Twitter: https://twitter.com/mumme_ben Medium: https://benjaminmumme.medium.com/ YouTube: https://bit.ly/3fAcFrt Newsletter: https://bit.ly/3DBkSWv Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/livingyourg... __ Let's Connect👇 Drop a review and me know what's resonating with you about the show! #75 Ben Mumme: Choose Greatness in Every Moment - If You Want To Be Great, Then Be Great!

In this episode, Ben explains that greatness is a moment-to-moment choice. You can't control what happens around you, but you can control your perspective and practice patience, forgiveness, courage, and strength — to choose greatness in every moment. Realizing your dreams and goals does ultimately require a long-term vision, but that can often be discouraging when you reflect on just how much we need to accomplish to reach our goal. However, by shifting your mindset to this moment-to-moment approach, you can simplify the process and utilize a more dependable path. Here's a practical approach that combines several best practices for maximizing productivity and performance: Find greatness in each moment: Don't worry about maximizing your performance all day long, just pick one or two windows of about an hour or two where you seek to maximize your performance and then grow from there. Track your progress and performance: Track your performance each week and compare it to the previous week. How did you do? This ensures you're making progress each week. Seek to go to bed each day thinking "I've done my best": Hold firm to your resolution to be at your best during those short windows of time. Find greatness in those moments and don't let yourself go to sleep at night without knowing you did your best. By using this process to maximize the effectiveness of this moment-to-moment mindset, you'll simplify the path to realizing your dreams. It won't be any easier, but you won't face disorientation and discouragement when looking at the road ahead. Remember, you are stronger, smarter, and more resilient than you think. You are capable of achieving more than you believe. You are meant for greatness like anyone else who has already achieved it. __ Host: Ben Mumme Twitter: https://twitter.com/mumme_ben Medium: https://benjaminmumme.medium.com/ YouTube: https://bit.ly/3fAcFrt Newsletter: https://bit.ly/3DBkSWv Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/livingyourg... __ Let's Connect👇 Drop a review and me know what's resonating with you about the show! #72 Ben Mumme: The Art of Becoming an Expert

In this episode, Ben talks about the art of becoming an expert and how to achieve high-level performance at almost anything. It is not easy to become an expert or master performer at something. Ben explains that it takes at least 10,000 hours of practice. This is a common rule of thumb, popularized by best-selling author, Malcolm Gladwell. For example, the Beatles put in 10,000 hours of practice playing all-night concerts in Hamburg in the early 1960s before their music got popular. Another example was Bill Gates who put in 10,000 hours of programming work before founding Microsoft. This was why Gladwell strongly believed that 10,000 hours was the magic number of greatness. However, it is important to understand that the focus should not be on quantity training. It needs also to be quality training. You cannot become an expert without either of these ingredients. Expert performance is the end result of individuals' consistent efforts to improve performance while negotiating motivational and external constraints. Ben discusses that deliberate practice refers to a special type of practice that is purposeful and systematic. While regular practice might include mindless repetitions, deliberate practice requires focused attention and is conducted with the specific goal of improving performance. 4 Ways To Use Deliberate Practice: Break it down Create a schedule Practice with focus Get a coach Whatever it is you want to master and improve your skills at, when you use the power of deliberate practice, you can quickly become better than the average and achieve high-level performance. __ Host: Ben Mumme Twitter: https://twitter.com/mumme_ben Medium: https://benjaminmumme.medium.com/ YouTube: https://bit.ly/3fAcFrt Newsletter: https://bit.ly/3DBkSWv Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/livingyourg... __ Let's Connect👇 Drop a review and me know what's resonating with you about the show! #71 Peter W. Hart: A Creative Genius Helping Build a Better World for People, Businesses and Communities by Focusing on the Power of Recognition

Peter W. Hart is a self-taught, Montreal artist. He fell in love with painting at the age of 39 by chance while flipping through a book that included a reproduction of Degas' "Dancers". This painting was a revelation to him and awakened a sudden and intense passion for art - especially for the works of the "Impressionists". Inspired by the paintings of iconic artists like Monet, Renoir, Manet, Courbet, Pissarro, and Van Gogh, Peter began painting and travelling the world to admire the original masterpieces. Painting started as a hobby in 1989 to relieve the stress of running one of the world's leading employee recognition companies. After the successful sale of the company in 2019, painting has now become Peter's full-time vocation. In his paintings, Hart crystallizes his moods, transposing his emotions onto canvas, wood, and other materials. Imbued with fiery energy, Peter's works never leave the viewer unmoved. Vivid and expressive, his pieces are inspired by figurative paintings from another era but are eminently contemporary. His colour palette, composed mainly of primary colours, is radiant. Each stroke is lively and assertive - the textures rich, and the movement compelling. Today, Peter finds joy in harnessing the spontaneity of acrylic and the three-dimensional density of mixed media using everyday items such as noodles, rice, and beads. Peter's works are an "ode to life." They are defined in different collections; sometimes impactful like his close-ups of tulips and sunflowers; sometimes sunny and more languid such as his landscapes with fields and bodies of water; and sometimes purely abstract compositions with bold strokes and convoluted spirals. Peter often favours large or atypical canvases — in various shapes and dimensions, and often diptychs — but what's striking is that each of his paintings, even the smallest, has a strong and flamboyant presence that seems to extend beyond their frame, generously occupying a space of their own. A prolific artist, Peter permanently exhibits his work at his self-titled gallery located in the heart of Old Montreal. This is where he stays in touch with more than 1,200 collectors from over 30 different countries. He also participates in group exhibitions and finds immense pleasure in holding workshops with various charities, specifically, the homeless and kids who are traumatized or intellectually handicapped. In this episode, Peter talks about his formative years growing up and what inspired him to become a creative artist. Peter is also a former water polo player on the Canadian Men's National Team. He played with some of the best water polo players that ever played for Canada. Many of his former teammates have been recognized and have made it into the Canadian Water Polo Hall of Fame. Peter talks about the brotherhood he and his teammates fostered. He believes this is one of the reasons his water polo generation was so great! Afterwards, Peter talks about his entrepreneurial spirit. He was the CEO and President of Rideau, Inc. He worked with the company for 50 years. Peter discusses how he helped build a better world for people, businesses and communities by focusing on the power of recognition. He also explains how anyone can learn how to foster creativity, innovation and an entrepreneurial mindset. Peter then talks about what separates a good artist from a great artist. Lastly, he provides his definition of greatness and what it means to him. __ Host: Ben Mumme Twitter: https://twitter.com/mumme_ben Medium: https://benjaminmumme.medium.com/ YouTube: https://bit.ly/3fAcFrt Newsletter: https://bit.ly/3DBkSWv Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/livingyourg... __ Guest: Peter Hart Website: https://peterwhart.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/peterwhart/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/peterwhart17/?hl=en Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PETERwHARTGallery/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/PeterWHart __ Let's Connect👇 Drop a review and let me know what's resonating with you about the show! S1 Ep 63#63 Ben Mumme: 10 Effective Ways To Improve Your Emotional Wellness

Ben starts off the episode by defining what is emotional wellness. He explains that it involves expressing your feelings, adjusting to challenges, coping with the stress that life brings, and enjoying your life. It includes knowing our strengths as well as what we want to get better at, and living and working on our own but letting others help us from time to time. Emotional wellness includes both emotional intelligence and emotional regulation. The construct of emotional well-being lies within the broader understanding of mental health. The lack of emotions does not equal emotional health, just as the lack of mental illness does not equal mental health. Someone suppressing emotions, especially from childhood, may not be as emotionally healthy as someone vulnerable enough to express their emotions. Ben discusses why emotional wellness is so important. When we are emotionally well, we are better able to enjoy our life and the people in it. We can love, express ourselves creatively, learn new things without fear and test our limits. We are better equipped to cope with difficulties, disappointments, sadness and stress, secure in the knowledge that, in time, we will be able to enjoy our lives once again. Emotional wellness matters, to all ages, everywhere. Ben shares 10 effective ways to improve your emotional wellness: 1. Brighten your outlook 2. Take responsibility for yourself 3. Cope with loss 4. Accept the changes in your life 5. Strengthen social connections 6. Take good care of your body 7. Choose to be a good friend to yourself 8. Surround yourself with positive thoughts and people 9. S1 Ep 59#59 Ben Mumme: Fourteen Ways To Cultivate Social Wellness

Ben starts off the episode by defining what is social wellness. He explains that social wellness is about nurturing ourselves, others and our relationships. It consists of not only balancing our own physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health but also actively participating as an interdependent piece of the bigger puzzle of humankind. As we care about our personal connections, we also care about the greater good of society, including our communities and the environment. Social wellness involves openly communicating needs, feelings, thoughts and desires to those we trust, and actively listening with empathy when they share with us. It involves engaging in and enjoying positive interactions with other people in work and leisure and building and maintaining meaningful friendships, intimate relationships and professional connections. Ben discusses why social wellness is so important. People who have healthy relationships, and a strong social network tend to live longer and respond better to stress. One of the biggest benefits of having good social wellness is the presence of a social support network. This network can be close friends and family members to turn to when you are in need or in a crisis situation. Your support system can offer assistance, perspective and insight into a situation that may have caused your judgment to become clouded. Ben shares 14 ways to cultivate social wellness: Disconnect to connect Make connections Improve your communication skills Make an action plan Connect with your community Get active together Be positive Evaluate your emotional intelligence Celebrate and compliment your family and friends. Smile and learn people's names Improve time management Take care of yourself while caring for others Learn to disagree, or argue in a positive, constructive way Build Healthy Relationships __ Host: Ben Mumme Twitter: https://twitter.com/mumme_ben Medium: https://benjaminmumme.medium.com/ YouTube: https://bit.ly/3fAcFrt Newsletter: https://bit.ly/3DBkSWv Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/livingyourg... __ Let's Connect👇 Drop a review and me know what's resonating with you about the show! In the first week of launching, it has become a best-selling book on Amazon.ca. Peter shares what inspired him to write the book. As silver is a generational opportunity, Peter shares his strong convictions about why silver will be the trade of the decade. There are many great reasons, silver, not gold, became the first truly international currency. Peter talks about the unique properties of silver that make it an ideal form of money. Silver matters today as central planners, past and present, have negatively impacted the money supply. Peter explains the strategies that central planners have used, and continue to use, to try and climb their way out of huge debts. The story always ends badly for investors who don't see it coming. Silver is considered an irreplaceable metal as it is both a monetary and industrial metal. Peter speaks about how this will raise silver demand and provide a rare opportunity for investors to make huge gains from silver investments. As there are distinct factors that drive silver and silver investments, Peter explains the different ways we can arrive at the same peak target price for silver. As there are many ways to invest in silver, Peter talks about the ideal way to build a silver investment portfolio. He then discusses the five secrets to managing risk. Peter provides advice on how someone can foster a contrarian mindset and know more about silver than 99.9% of investors. Lastly, Peter provides his definition of greatness and what it means to him. __ Host: Ben Mumme Twitter: https://twitter.com/mumme_ben Medium: https://benjaminmumme.medium.com/ YouTube: https://bit.ly/3fAcFrt Newsletter: https://bit.ly/3DBkSWv Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/livingyourgreatness/ __ Guest: Peter Krauth Twitter: https://twitter.com/peter_krauth LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/peter-krauth/ Amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/Great-Silver-Bull-Inflation-Profit/dp/1777953502 __ Let's Connect👇 Drop a review and let me know what's resonating with you about the show!
