S4 Ep 502Episode 502: Replay Day "Change"
A year and a half ago, I recorded this episode after a VERY HARD first half of 2020. The moment it was released, my whole life changed for the better. We are replaying this episode today as a reminder. A reminder to be the change you need to be for yourself, your family and your community. OLD SHOW NOTES: Tales from the Prepper Pantry We had rain so I hope to do a batch of beets this week Added lamb to the freezer It is time to do the now quarterly freezer defrost and audit - a thing that has been keeping me honest on using stuff up Still drying herbs like mullein flower and bee balm Featured Forrage: Wild Raspberry For berry advice https://nicolesauce.com/2015/06/14/wild-raspberry-summer/ Herbal uses https://botanical.com/botanical/mgmh/r/raspbe05.html Tea: high in calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium, and vitamins B, C, and E. Excessive menstruation Antidiahrreal Reduces fevers Operation Independence This whole show is about this topic, really Main topic of the Show: Change It is always there under the surface. Ready to push you just a bit further. Ready to get in your way when you are in your stride. Ready to show you opportunities when you are least ready for them. Always there no matter how much you wish to cling to today and yesterday. Change happens. Many people fear it, hate it, resist it. But change is part of life and if you are living, change is simply something that you must learn to integrate into everything. Because it will happen whether you want it or not. And yet we can guide change, we can shape it and shift it in ways that suit us. Yep. Change is hard but change is also good. I haven't done our usual lftn spring workshop debrief episode this year. You know the one I speak of? Where I run through it session by session and talk about all the things we did and learned and how powerful the community is when we get together? A community of doers… I haven't done this thing because this year was different. Now don't get me wrong, the workshop was fantastic, fun, hard, good, educational, and the community is why this is. But unlike former years where the best outcomes of the workshop were on the surface, this year was different. It was more subtle. The group was both quiet and social and sometimes raucous. The sessions were usually focused and thought provoking. The group had a comfortable companionship about it and conversations tended toward long and deep over surface and short. The whole time the event was happening I was worried that we would not meet the benchmark. You may wonder what the benchmark is. The benchmark for every lftn spring workshop is that at least 1 or 2 people figure things out. They find that it they have been missing. The thing that shows them a way forward toward building the kind of life they want. Usually, this happens quickly and obviously. But not this year. The day after the workshop, Jenni stopped by. You know who I mean. Jenny of Word of the Year Jenni - to get her stuff and she said - I think we turned a corner at the workshop. And she is right. There wasn't one or two "aha" experiences, but rather a more subtle shift for most of us there. Setting the stage for the workshop, we have seen the following in six short months: A strong financial environment to start out the year A scary pandemic illness that brought along with it the following: Population-wide acceptance of the top-down control of private lives. An awakening that people seem to want a crisis really badly - so they won't let go when new information comes to light Acceptance of politically charged narrative on a topic that should not be at all political - both sides have shamelessly used this pandemic to desperately further their agendas with no consideration for the impact on real people A media meltdown - To this day, media is frantically reporting increase in cases with no context on increase in testing, or link to hospital beds needed - the more important measure of the impact of covid. Literally - Tennessee saw it's largest spike in cases the same day that they also finalized testing of all people in all old folks facilities, for example. Government overreach in the form of shutting down private businesses - you can say what you want about if it was or was not the right move, but it was an overreach and court cases are starting to show this Destruction of our livelihoods, retirement accounts, educational facilities, ability to travel, and autonomy Racially - charged, divisiveness in a world where I truly believe most of us want to coexist -- followed by rioting to further the clear division between a and b, 1 and 0, r and d, because that is the only way to control us A recession that very well may melt into a depression, especially if the masses continue to let the oligarchy that runs this country bring us to ruin lest they lose power As a group, we had people facing sudden loss of jobs, income, business revenue - paired with people who are still doing basically ok, and even some who have seen growt

S4 Ep 500Episode 500 - Celebrate
It was May 20, 2016. That day that I got a wild hair. I had created a world for myself that was pure misery. I had founded a nonprofit around my passion, but put myself in a role of administrator, not the person delivering the very services I loved providing. There was absolutely no creative outlet. Worse, I was supposed to be a catalyst for change toward the better and was watching the country backslide away from increased freedom to an alarmingly fascist government. I thought, why not? Why not start a podcast and talk about increasing your ability to live a life you love, to have more stability, to tap into opportunities that others may not see? So I did and I got EIGHTY downloads. The next day I got 14 and one of them was my mother. Who knew that five years later, after lots of joy, hardships, slaps in the face, heartbreak, new friendships, and help from all of you -- we would reach episode 500. Today, we celebrate this milestone with content from y'all. Thank you for making our community so strong, for lifting each other up, and for sticking with me through thick and thin. S4 Ep 490Episode 490: Living Off Your Homestead

Operation Independence Considering adding sheep to the Holler Homestead - will keep everyone updated. Main topic of the Show: Living Off Your Homestead Last night I was up most of the night because Coyotes were too close for comfort. Every time they caught something in the woods, they would put up a cheer. My dogs would lose their minds barking in response. Why was I disturbed by this? Well, we have a bunch of turkeys outside that we are raising for a friend and that are sleeping out in the open and they electro netting stopped working. It would take nothing for a Coyote to just push through that and eat all the turkey they want. I have already sold most of these turkeys and would have to refund the money, and would then lose that because it is already spent on turkey feed and infrastructure. That got me to thinking - we always talk about being prepared for the things most likely to happen such as: Short term supply shortages Tornado related problems Ice storms Loss of income Illness But what would happen if any of these things went on longer. Throughout the history of the US, at least every 100 years, we have ad something last longer than a season and cause difficulties in resupply. Civil war - turkeys example What would it look like if I ended up living off this homestead and existing relationships for five years? Animal Feed And Animal Care Imports: Distilled liquor, medicine, Asian and European imports, Seasonal eating, clothing and so forth, cleaning supplies, salt Entertainment Trade and Community (B 2 L update) Repurposing Keeping the land, energy, resupplying clothing and other odd items Why would I even think this way? S4 Ep 484Episode 484: Principles
Today I go on a tear about sticking to principles when the sticking gets tough. Tales from the Prepper Pantry Found about 10 more steaks! Ready to consolidate freezers down to two Fridge for sale Freeze Drying Basil and other herbs Operation Independence Lodge Warehouse Sale The Bathtub Main topic of the Show: Principles Today started with a video of a OBGYN from a year ago about an anti abortion bill that would charge Dr.'s with murder who do not attempt to re-implant ectopic pregnancies. This is a pregnancy where the egg does not make it to the uterus. And this got me to thinking about big picture principles and how we tend to take discourse from principles to extreme examples in an effort to "win" the argument on issues. She basically landed on the message, "Get politics out of medicine." Yesterday on a long drive, I heard Nurse Amy from https://www.doomandbloom.net/ defend he choice to get vaccinated - a decision she has grown to regret. Her credibility was attacked from someone who is against the vax. She landed on Get the Politics Out of Medicine. Then I remembered a discussion with a doctor I had who wanted to prescribe Ivermectin, a known antiviral used on humans to help early onset Covid because the research indicated it may help and the risk level of negative impacts from the medicine are unlikely. Pharmacists are refusing to fill it because it is not approved for use in treating covid -- an off-label use. This doctor just wants to see the politics taken out of medicine. Then it struck me. The last 2 years have done something I had not realized. It is not about whether or not politics are in medicine. It is what people are willing to accept from their medical care. A decade ago, it would have been impossible to implement socialized medicine in this country (referred to under new marketing as "single payer"). Want to know why? Nobody would have accepted so much meddling in their treatments, in who does and does not deserve medical help, in long delays for important screenings and procedures, and in off label use for medications. In other countries where medicine is socialized, people are willing to wait months for that cancer screening without raising a fuss. They are willing to accept that elderly do not get the same access to something like heart surgery or limb replacement as a younger person. They buy into rationing of care by a politically appointed governing body, and are resigned to how that works. In fact, they are thankful that their care is "free," and mystified about how our "free-market" system (That is neither free nor market based by a long shot) can be accepted by people. All this while citizens of their locations travel here to get those delayed screenings faster by paying up front for them. By enacting draconian shut down, implementing control over what can and cannot be used to treat covid, firing healthcare staff who choose not to accept an emerging vaccination, rationing monoclonal antibody supplies for political reasons, and everything else that has happened -- expectations of those who use healthcare have changed their expectations. They are now OK with letting their loved ones go into the system without an advocate under the guise of "protections." They will wait weeks or months for screenings because of "staffing shortages." They buy into government bodies who know nothing about practicing medicine making decisions about what can be used to treat an emerging virus, thus stifling progress and innovation in favor of trumping up their corporate sponsors. And these same people screech when something is put forth to change the when and how that a woman can receive treatment for pregnancy-related issues like not allowing treatment of an ectopic pregnancy. Freedom for me but not for thee. We need to step above this. To embrace something better. The ends CANNOT justify the means even if it is in service of something good lest they be aimed for evil by another. When we empower force of government to relieve people of their property, their freedom, their bodily autonomy in favor of achieving goals we think are important like: Curing addiction (drug war) Paying for the community (Involuntary taxation) Dictating what medications may be used for what (Medical socialization) When we choose our pet project, like ending poverty then outsource the implementation to a committee of special interests, we simply make things worse for everyone. And the last two years have reframed what people are willing to accept. Shortages of supplies? Sure. Forced shots to be able to travel? Bring it. Bullying toward people who do not adhere to the current-day's accepted social protocols? RIGHT ON! When you support any of these things, you support all of them, so be careful. Next up will be this: Climate change is a danger and overpopulation adds to the problem. Women must now take birth control or be sterilized to address this issue. Wait. no. If we do that society will not continue -- only the women with und

S4 Ep 476Episode 475: Opt Out of Nonsensical Discussions

Need to consult an expert Getting set for animal processing season Operation Independence Green Chili Event Set Up Main topic of the Show: Opt Out of Nonsensical Discussions Nonsense. It is all nonsense all the time. The most obvious nonsense is around covid. We look at the mandate proclamation that has no teeth and freak out. We hear that non vaxed are the ones spreading the disease. Then we hear the vaccine does not stop the spread of the disease and that is why you need to be vaxed. I literally heard someone say in the same diatribe that everything with covid is the fault of the unvaxed and then go on to explain that vaccines are not intended to stop the spread, but rather to protect the person who gets the disease from getting a harder case. But then say that vaccinated are not contributing to the pressure being put on the virus to make it mutate. Wait what? The words coming out of your mouth do not make any sense. If nothing else has become clear it is this: we have not found a cure for the common cold. There is a reason we haven't. But I do not want today to be about the illness. We talk waaaay too much about this. Today, I want to explore the increase in nonsensical discussions that are polluting reasoned discourse in our society. You see, as we have become more prosperous, it has become acceptable to spew bullshit. Black is white, up is down and so forth. We have become so comfortable that rocking the boat is scary. What if someone pushes back? What if I look stupid? Maybe they know more than I do. No. Stop. Just stop. Your bullshit meter is working just fine. The things people tell you that make no sense and seem to illustrate the opposite of the original assertion are, in fact, circular logic. You are being gaslighted. Ever hear the theory that people need to hear something 8 times to accept it as fact? This is a, oft cited marketing foundation. It is why marketing gets a bad name. The number 8 can be changed to 15, or 6, but the foundational idea is if you are exposed to a lie long enough, you begin to accept it. And we have been using this to great advantage. Maxwell house is better than folgers. Colombian beans are the best in the world. Masks work, or they don't work (depending on what you are exposed to). States with low vac rates are having larger outbreaks than, say, Oregon. Home ownership is the best way to handle your housing because renting is just throwing your money away. The Afghanistan withdrawal was a success. Also it was Trump's fault. But it is a success. But anyone who got hurt is Trump's fault. Fake mandates! We are in a constantly rolling set of angenda -based crisis and the fearmomenter has been turned up again, as it always is, when they have something to hide. The think to ask yourself as you become terrified of losing your job, of angry hoardes attacking peaceful people in reaction to mandates, is this: What are they hiding with their manipulative spin? Who are they dividing? How can I opt out? The sad thing about this cycle is that it has set into motion the habit to buy into taglines and spin so heavily that people use it in discussions with one another. And when you point out the illogic, personal attacks follow because, anymore, the goal of discourse is to win, not to learn. And THAT brings us to the point. What should we, as critical thinkers do when we come into nonsensical discussions with circular logic? Do we stay and fight? Do we leave with a "whatever dude?" Or do we do something else. In the big picture, a nonsensical discussion is not really worth my time and if I have it, especially on the internet, all I do is feed the nonsense that I am trying to counter. Dont believe me? Go find one and look at the back and forth. People get increasingly divided and angry. They end having not changed. The "lgoical" arguer often comes across looking like a dick. Mean people are not appreciated. Therefore the wrong narrative often "wins" in the eyes of an outsider. So what can we do? Turn off the news Acknowledge your own circular or faith-based biases In a discussion establish a big picture goal: Are we talking to "win" or to learn? What are we discussing? (Ivermective example) Are both sides willig to be wrong? Who is your target for discussion? Find ways to find good information (read studies, confirm things with sources) Keep the long term, big picture in mind It can be hard when faced with a circular argument to not engage to correct the problem.

S4 Ep 473Episode 473: Back to the Land with Matt Hundley
Ever think about going back to the land? Well today, I am joined by Matt Hundley, musician, youtuber, and founder of the Back to the Land Festival happening right here in Tennessee in October! Upcoming Events:Sept 18 Green Chili Day Oct 14-16 Back to the Land Festival But first: From a Covid Nurse This is reality for me, I'm not debating vaccination vs non vaccination here at all so just don't . I see both vaccinated and unvaccinated on the vents and dying so the whole you think your safe just because your vaccinated is a farce. It may help keep you in the lower severity category but once on the vent it all ends pretty much the same. I wish I had answers to make this horrific nightmare stop. Eventually this will be endemic and not a pandemic , eventually we will be back in the drivers seat and not at the mercy of a .3% mortality rate virus. We still have 400,000 to die in this country before we have met our .3% . I think Delta is going to get us to that number a little faster. There isn't room for anything else in the hospital it's pretty much all covid , or clot and strokes due to covid and vaccinated patients . It's getting everyone folks this causes blood clots so act accordingly. We are back to cancelling elective surgeries . We need our health care providers elsewhere right now. I won't go into how tired we are and how much demand is being placed on us to fill gaps. I harp on that enough. When people call about their loved ones on the phone they don't get it , they don't understand why their wife isn't answering her phone anymore. Or their college aged son isn't texting his best friend anymore. They can't . They are sedated , paralyzed and intubated . That means they can't talk, they can't move on their own , they can't do anything without our assistance and they hopefully feel no pain and aren't aware of what's going on around them too much because it's quiet. No real human interaction , we don't know what they hear so we talk to them when we give them a bath and turn them. I play music for them. I wish families were allowed to see them and sit with them . My humanity side says maybe more would make it if they weren't alone in isolation. Maybe it would help them cope seeing the progression instead of the phone call from a doc saying it's time to make a decision right now. Most families think they have time while they are on the vent , you don't . They are so fragile a good turn and fluid shift could change everything going well to tanking in a New York minute. Then when they need ECMO sorry only taking patients under 40 yrs old and there is a waiting list. Most by this time can not wait so they die. They in some cases will not put a vent on anyone over 80 , bad outcomes and young people need that vent so they are HAVING to prioritize care on those that have the most ability to survive. My god. I never thought this could happen here . It tears the docs up because they have to call or tell the family we have no vent for grandma. Chronic conditions are prioritized to down the list . It's all about survivability and who is in front of you. Don't get sick , it's a terrible time to be sick , get your check ups , get your labs done , talk to your GP like you should and eat well. Drink water , start an exercise regimen , stop smoking or drinking alcohol. Do this now. That way if you get a sniffle you can self treat before you need an ER for sepsis or pneumonia. Help us help you please ! There is no more room . Episode 471: Finding People to Buy Your Coffee, Home Roasting Business Part 3 Your coffee business will never make it off the ground if you do not have this one piece in place: People who want to buy your coffee. Establishing Customer Base - Most important use of your time. Brand Promise Brand Story (Frame in terms of why the people who buy your coffee want it -- not why you think they should buy it) Example: Tastes Great vs how the beans are lovingly roasted by your 6 year old daughter, Farm stories of your source beans vs what green coffee beans are or "fair trade" etc certifications Local versus beyond local sales Local: farmers markets, outreach to businesses, local radio shows, column in the local newspaper, cafe or food cart, presence in craft fairs, stores, coffee for events, schools, etc. Beyond local (First few fit for local too): Social media development, network care and feeding, demonstrations and value add for other people, podcasts and radio/tv with expanded reach, the website question, personality marketing, audience will be in a niche that is not bound by geography. Food Law Choice (cottage vs renting production space vs just do it) Marketing budget, putting things on sale, tracking results Customer referrals The most important piece of the puzzle: Customer service, ongoing care of relationships, constant attention to expand if that is your goal, new ways to fill the funnel. (Sometimes independence means making choices) Putting finishing touches on an event at SOE in mid October and a workshop with Niti the first Saturday of October -- more on this soon GSD Update Main topic of the Show: Building While The World Falls Apart In the last 2 weeks, no fewer than 20 people have reached out to me with questions about relocating to Tennessee. Many of them are facing job loss due to vaccination requirements, financial problems from draconian shut downs, and the emotional wounds from having marriages, friendships and family relationships torn apart in light of what some like to just refer to as "All this bullshit." They are scared to stay where they are. They are scared to move somewhere new. It is hard to feel secure with capital gains tax laws being retroactively changed under the guise of taxing the rich -- you know who I mean -- the rich people who will never pay more tax, and landing on the shoulders of small business owners and grandma's retirement rental. Every time a new story comes out about the virus you fall over from being dizzy from the spin put out by "both" sides of the discussion. Ivermectin is cow medicine and has no valid human use (except it does). Unvaccinated are spreading the virus (except vaccinated are too and they are less likely to know they are infected). Meat is killing you and low fat is the only way to go, except the part where sugar is definitely linked to diabetes, which is also killing us. Then there are the calls for mandates, the framing of people who are conservative as less than human. The violence increasing all over the country but in particular in the cities. There is the economic damage of the last few years, made worse by decades of shitty public policy, made worse by the political power mongers using this current state of discomfort to take more control, dictate how poor people will live from now on under the guise of saving the planet from climate change. What I see among those who have awoken to the current evil that has been building for a long time is that they discuss it unendingly. Pundits have this topic covered. We need to be better than that. We need to give our energy to creating, not tearing down. To forward momentum not backward thinking policies in fancy new marketing packaging. That is why we talk about building here rather than obsess on the shit going on. It doesn't mean we ignore the shit though. I mean if a wrecking ball is coming your way, you definitely want to see it and to move. I moved from public policy to podcasting and building our LFTN community because I realized that trying to change the system that is failing everyone from inside the system is a fool's errand. I mean, God bless those who are willing to stay and try. But the system itself has core design flaws. It is designed into the system to create dependence. We don't need dependence. WE NEED INDEPENDENCE in order to create and thrive. Is this time different for you or the same. Are you looking at those gas cans you have that are empty, or are they full? Did you start a pantry rotation, or are you thinking about what you ought to stock up on now that prices are climbing? Is your side hustle generating some income, or are you stuck deciding between your long term health and keeping a job that is requiring you to do things you disagree with? So you can either be part of the problem by playing the game, or you can be part of the solution by building now, when the time is ripe to build but the will to build it weak. Make it a great week! S4 Ep 467Episode 467: Listener Feedback Show for August 23, 2021
Today we talk more about Holler Dollars, the Flood, and where to move in Tennessee if you are immigrating from another state. These are all questions and comments from listeners. Mozzarella Webinar THIS THURSDAY Oct 15-17 - Back to the Land Festival: https://www.backtothelandfestival.com/ Tales from the Prepper Pantry Tomato Sauce Round of animal feed Venison Shoulder Roast to soup Working on ordering in Green Chilies for Green Chili Day (There will be Green Chili Ice cream!) (Sign up link) Operation Independence Hip Camp Car Fund Main topic of the Show: Listener Feedback Show Holler Dollars From Sue: I had two questions from an academic point of view. 1) in your example about Jenni and the garlic. That is technical not a barter situation. What you described is essentially creating another currency based in garlic. Because you've set a value for garlic that you'll honor no mater what, even if you have elastic demand for garlic. For instance, say she plants an entire lawn of garlic and brings it to the pantry for 10,000 credits. Under the system you described, her garlic is as good as currency even if you can't use her garlic. My second question is more of a philosophical one. If the framework of the holler is not paying the labor the equivalent of at least minimum wage in the Tennessee economy, then is it really independence? Why do you need to come up with a food value for the labor that is nor based on the real market value of the labor absent the neighbors? I guess what I am asking is, how much would it cost to run the holler if your neighbors did not exist. Isn't that the value exactly? My worry is that there are legal cases where work contracts made in sub economies where labor is valued at less than minimum wage can be considered servitude under the law and litigious. I'm not saying either of the above will happen of course. Just playing out your scenarios from a purely argumentative point of view absent the fact that these are your friends and neighbors Leos: Incorporated Approach Where to Move in Tennessee? I found you via Jack Spirko. My family and I are soon to be refugees from California. We are in pursuit of a new location to settle and build community. S4 Ep 466Episode 466: End of Summer Pantry Management
Today, we talk about what to do with your pantry at the end of August, whether you are on a homestead or living in the city. Webinar on Making Mozarella Green Chili Day Registration is Live Stump the Sauce You seem like a really cool lady with a good heart and I like your goals for independance and living free and wish you well on your quest. I do have a question regarding trading and bartering within a small neighborhood of "like-minded people". My father was born in 1937 and pines away at how everyone worked together for a common goal, say threshing wheat/oats and how people used to work together. I ask what happened? Because my point of view is I don't even know these people he would talk about so fondly from childhood memory. He retorts "We all became independent and stopped having to get along, so we don't". So, it seems these barter systems are transient and dependent on most within the group being of either similar socioeconomic status or as the time ethnic decent, and Dad always seems to talk about the riff that severed relationship X or Y . Just thoughts. Love your show. Main topic of the Show: End of Summer Pantry Management This morning, the weather had turned "morning cool" once again and you know what that means, right? Winter is coming and along with it the need to be fully stocked up, have firewood, and have the animals taken care of. One of the reasons that store shortages are not very concerning to us here in the Holler is that we have been maintaining a good pantry for many years. But that doesnt mean we will not have to go without if things do not come back in stock. This week, we have had a cool reprieve amid the hottest days of the year. We have stowed and stashed jars of winter storage. We have "used up" commercial products as part of a busy week of travel. This month, we have dug a giant ditch behind the house, completely taken out everything in the prepper pantry to rerun gas, electrical, and water. Things are a bit stirred up and it is time to do the late summer pantry project. If you are new to pantry management, or an old hand at it, this time of year tends to lead to the same place: it is time to audit, reorganize, and plan the next steps in advance of winter. If you are lucky enough to have AC, this is also an excuse to stay cool during the hottest part of the day while making forward progress. Failure to take this time now leads to that one can of sauerkraut that stays in the back corner of your pantry, getting moved each time you do, until it is so old that you don't even want to feed it to your pigs. How do I know? I moved that can of sauerkraut 8 times before I realized I was never going to eat it. That can of sauerkraut was the first step toward proper pantry management - as in store what you actually eat -- and it started me on a very different path in food management long before I discovered my love of preserving and storing food in abundance. So what does the Summer Project Look like? Review long term and short term storage Make 2 piles for each place: Use up, store it Put everything away with the use up items in front on shelves and the store it items harder to get to (pull things from long term storage that really need to be worked into your meal plans) Freezers if you have them Make a list of what is missing for the winter: flour, sugar, hot coco, paper towels, fire starters, first aid and toiletries, meats, veggies, etc Set a schedule to restock - there is still farm abundance to preserve and things often have early fall sales. Advanced: buying for next summer at the end of this one! Do this same process for livestock and pets The first time I did this: 2 weeks - now it is a 1 day thing. (explain why) Next 2 weeks meal plan Landing: High times and spare - you will be as supply secure as you can be without wasting time and money on things you will never use. S4 Ep 457Episode 457: Holler Neighbors Food Cooperative
Today is a thought experiment on the Holler Neighbor Food Cooperative idea. Problem we solve: How everyone who is working in our community to gain value from the land can benefit from their efforts while also balancing between those who have more capitol inputs and those who have more labor inputs July 31 GSD Weekend at the Darkhorse Lodge - last change to go hang out with awesome people. Capitol Investment vs Labor Investment Ways to earn outside money Initial Set up, $2,000 and incorporation (not sure we need to corporation but will incorporate under under legal advice if needed) $$ used for USD expenditures, feed, infrastructure, veterinarian bills, utilities, etc $$ reinvested either from partners or sales revenue Sales revenue is OBV taxable Holler Neighbors can Buy A Neighbor Membership for $50/year (revenue to the corporation). This earns the right to access membership benefits like food education, they get an annual amount of Holler Dollar Vouchers and may use vouchers to obtain the food we grow together. Holler Dollars: Neighbors can Buy or Earn Holler Dollars and pay for pantry items with Holler Dollars. Earned through food production or preservation labor. Neighbor members can give other neighbor members Holler Dollars in gratitude for random work performed (lawn mowing, etc). Non Neighbor Membership is available for, say $500 dollars and gets a person access to educational days, a certain number of holler dollars, but they cannot "earn" holler dollars by working on food projects.
