"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." That's what it says. It doesn't say "separation of church and state." It doesn't say that anywhere in the Constitution of the United States of America. So as a Legacy Dad, how do we correct those who use the common phrase to attack faith? How do we inform them that the founding fathers actually based a lot of foundation of the country on having a proper vertical relationship with God Almighty? In this first of a five-part series on discipleship, Dave and Dante discuss the first stage: spiritually dead. Ephesians 2 talks about how we were dead in our transgressions and sins before we made the choice to pursue a relationship with Jesus. Oftentimes, as Christians, it is hard for us to determine how to love those who are in those circumstances in which we once were. Continuing the "God in Action" series, we hear the story of Brandon from Camp Royal. After the loss of his Dad while he was a young boy, Brandon spent a lot of time trying to find his identity. It wasn't until God reminded him (multiple times, really) to trust his real Father that Brandon found his identity in Christ. As Christians, we are told to expect suffering. But what does that look like? In this episode, Dave and Dante discuss scripture and how it not only tells us to expect suffering, but ways in which we can persevere through it...with the ultimate goal of giving God the glory that He deserves. If you're struggling now (whether through circumstances or choices), we pray this episode opens your eyes to the light in the darkness. "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness shall not overcome it." (John 1:5).

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). These words from Paul to the church in Thessalonica are the framework Dave and Dante use to discuss what Thanksgiving should look like for a Christian and Legacy Dad. A proper focus of gratefulness is aligned towards God - for He is good, and His love endures forever, and His faithfulness continues through all generations (adapted from Psalm 100).
