S6 Ep 35Interview with "Dude Dad," Taylor Calmus
In this week's episode, we sit down with the man behind the "Dude Dad" platforms, Taylor Calmus. He's got a new book out all around helping new Dads learn how to get ready for the new baby that will be in their life Numerous apps and books exist to help expectant parents understand their baby's development by comparing their unborn child to a raspberry or a stalk of broccoli, but Taylor Calmus takes issue with that. First off, your baby is not some wimpy little vegetable. Your baby is a hardcore little lug nut who is straight-up growing organs on a weekly basis. Second, how big is a stalk of broccoli? And what the heck is a kumquat? Clearly this situation calls for a better approach. Enter . . . "A Dude's Guide to Baby Size: What to Expect and How to Prep for Dads-to-Be." Calmus' new book is full of fun facts about the growing baby, advice on how to help Mom-to-be, as well as ideas and encouragement for fathers on their journey from Dude to Dude Dad. S6 Ep 34Seek, Set, Forward, Vertical, Part 2
We continue the conversation about how we can take Romans 12:1-2 and Colossians 3:1-17 to our lives with practical application steps. Whether it is working through forgiveness or working to ensure your marriage is worth fighting for, these verses and scripture are sure to help you seek first, set your mind, move forward in life, and look vertically to God the Father.

S6 Ep 33Seek, Set, Forward, Vertical - Part 1
In this episode, Dave and Dante go back to scripture and talk about how to apply it to our lives as men, husbands, and fathers. Romans 12:1-2 and Colossians 3:1-17 are an excellent foundation to figure out what to seek, where to set, how to move forward, and how to get vertical with God. Four steps towards changing the legacy!

S6 Ep 32"The 5 Masculine Instincts" with Chase Replogle
In this week's podcast we sit down with Chase Replogle, the author of the book "The 5 Masculine Instincts: A Guide to Becoming a Better Man." From his website... "Through this book you'll discover your own instincts are neither curse nor virtue. They are the experiences by which you develop a new and better instinct—an instinct of faith. Through exploring sarcasm, adventure, ambition, reputation, and apathy, The 5 Masculine Instincts shows you how to better understand yourself and how your own instincts can be matured into something better."

S6 Ep 31Father and Son Conversation, Part 2
In this second-part of the conversation between Dante and Trey, we hear about discipleship, where Trey uses the gifts that God has given him, and we get some unique perspectives on what idolatry in our lives looks like.

S6 Ep 30Father and Son Conversation, Part 1

Five Minutes with Legacy Dads: Get Outside
Job 12:7-10 "But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind."

S6 Ep 30De-Stress Your Wife!
Let's face it husbands...your wife is busy! What are some things you can do to lower her stress level, thereby increasing both of your levels of joy? Listen in as Dave and Dante check in and discuss some solutions to de-stress your wife!

Five Minutes with Legacy Dads: Perserverance
Jude 1:17-23 "But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. They said to you, "In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires." These are people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. Be merciful to those who doubt; save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear - hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh."

S6 Ep 28The Root of it All: Bitterness and Forgiveness
In this episode, Dave and Dante talk about one of the problems that affects all of us: bitterness. Whether it stems from someone hurting you, or even struggling with bitterness towards God, this is something that will eat at you from the inside-out and affect everything and everyone around you. Listen in for how to deal with it in a biblical fashion...here's a hint: if you've accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior and confessed your broken and sinful nature to Him, you've received it. Time to pass it on!

S6 Ep 28Discipleship Series, Part 5: Spiritual Parents
In this final part of the five-part series on discipleship, Dave and Dante talk about the discipleship goal of every Christian: helping to produce other disciples. The Great Commission is a command to "go and make," and when we are producing new disciples, we are fulfilling that call to action. Listen in as we discuss the characteristics, phrases and actions, and needs of spiritual parents. Where are you at in your discipleship journey? We hope you've enjoyed the past five episodes!

S6 Ep 28Psalms and Prayers of Intercession
Psalms 8 Psalms 91 Prayers of Intercession for the people of Ukraine and Russia. "First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way." 1 Timothy 2:1-2

S6 Ep 27Discipleship Series Part 4: Spiritual Young Adult
As we continue the discipleship series, we reach a turning point: spiritual young adulthood. In this stage, the focus turns from focusing inward to focusing outward and figuring out how to serve God and His kingdom. While the passion and intensity to serve Him is contagious, there are still needs that must be met in order to continue the discipleship journey. Listen in as Dave and Dante discuss the characteristics, common phrases, and needs of the spiritual young adult.

S6 Ep 26Discipleship Series, Part 3: Spiritual Childhood
In this episode, Dave and Dante move to the third stage of discipleship: spiritual childhood. What are the characteristics that one can identify with this stage of discipleship? Mostly, it's an inward-looking faith. And that's okay! The guys discuss some common phrases that one might hear from a spiritual child, and more importantly, talk about what the needs are...and how to meet them. Enjoy the journey, and continue to help them grow!

S6 Ep 25Discipleship Series, Part 2: Spiritual Infancy
In this second part of a five-part series on the stages of discipleship, Dave and Dante talk about the neediest stage of them all: spiritual infancy. Listen in for characteristics that are associated with new believers, and learn who and what is important for them to continue on their spiritual growth journey! Tune in for part 3, spiritual childhood, in the next episode.

S6 Ep 24Discipleship Series, Part 1: Spiritually Dead
In this first of a five-part series on discipleship, Dave and Dante discuss the first stage: spiritually dead. Ephesians 2 talks about how we were dead in our transgressions and sins before we made the choice to pursue a relationship with Jesus. Oftentimes, as Christians, it is hard for us to determine how to love those who are in those circumstances in which we once were. Listen in as the guys talk about characteristics of spiritually dead neighbors, and more importantly, how to show them the love of Jesus. The goal: help them to realize the life they can have when they turn towards Jesus.

S6 Ep 23Idols - Part 2
In this second part of the discussion of idols, Dave and Dante get a little personal in talking about the things that are occupying the space where God should be. Whether it is money or status or image or relationships or possessions, no matter what it is...it must take a back seat to God's presence in our lives. Listen in for some scripture to help as we determine how to keep God at the top!

S6 Ep 22Idols - Part 1
In this first of a two-part episode, Dave and Dante discuss the dangers of idols. In biblical times, idols took many shapes and forms…today is no different. Whether you idolize money, or things, or image, or relationships, the end result is always the same: the wrath of God. He is a selfish and jealous God, and being the Creator, well, He has every right to be so. And because of that, He doesn't take too well to sharing our devotion. Listen to this first episode and hear how the guys work through what idolization looks like today - and why it can ruin your legacy!

S6 Ep 21Proud to be Rut Free
In this episode, Dave and Dante talk through what it looks like to get out of the rut. Sometimes life gets busy and our priorities get out of order. If your relationship with your wife is under-prioritized, you'll find yourself in a rut of some sort. The guys talk about some practical things to do to get out of the rut, get out of pit lane, and get back into the race!

S6 Ep 20Interview with Dr. John Sowers
We are blessed to welcome Dr. John Sowers onto the podcast to discuss his new book (release February 1, 2022) titled "Say All the Unspoken Things: A Book of Letters." In 2020, John started writing letters to his daughters after feeling an urgency to share his full heart with them, and to make sure he knew that he loved them, and to pass along the wisdom that he'd been given by others. John gives us more insight to the book so that Legacy Dads can continue to make an impact on their kids' lives.

S6 Ep 19Et tu Legacy Dads!
What category would you say your kids fall into: biblical scholar, moderate Christian, or secular? Chances are they fall into secular. Surprised? Why? If we are sending our kids to Caesar for education, we shouldn't be surprised when they come home acting and thinking like Romans. In this episode, Dave and Dante discuss the importance of understanding the educational system, and whether to consider alternatives when the system starts to trend more secular in all aspects. Listen in and let us know your thoughts! Even the Legacy Dads are considering turning their backs on Caesar! Et tu, Legacy Dads! S6 Ep 18Clean the Inside of your Cup!
In this episode, we meet up with Paul from Dryvn Nutrition and The Caffeinated Dads. In order to leave a lasting legacy, one of the most important things to do is properly fuel our bodies. Paul is a nutrition coach and provides a wealth of information about the fundamentals of nutrition and physical fitness, and why that is helpful for men, husbands, fathers, women, wives, and mothers, at all stages of life! Find out more about Paul here: Caffeinated Dads: https://www.caffeinateddads.com/ IG: @the.caffeinated.dad

S6 Ep 17Legacy Dads 2022 - Refreshing the Priorities!
In this episode, Dave and Dante go back to the basics: what does it mean to be a Legacy Dad? When we look at the spiritual warfare that our kids will face, how do we protect them, and how do we prepare them? How do we use our marriage as a weapon against the spiritual attacks? While new year's resolutions may come and go, by making changes that turn into habits have a lasting impact…and no doubt, one that solidifies your legacy. Looking forward to engaging with you in this new calendar year!

S6 Ep 16Merry Christmas from Legacy Dads
From our families to yours, we want to say Merry Christmas! Thank you for your support and encouragement as we wrap up 2021. We are looking forward to what 2022 has in store, and continue to feel blessed to serve men, husbands, and fathers at all stages of life. In this episode we talk about some Christmas traditions and bring the real reason for Christmas into the conversation: because of the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. God bless you all!!

S6 Ep 152022 Legacy Dads Book Club
We have goals in 2022, and we want you to join in! In this episode, Dave and Dante discuss the books that are planned for the year. From raising children, to leading families, to becoming a better Christian, these books will help all of us become the men, husbands, and fathers that God has called us to be. Hope you're able to join in and read a book or two or eight!

S6 Ep 14God in Action - Brandon
Continuing the "God in Action" series, we hear the story of Brandon from Camp Royal. After the loss of his Dad while he was a young boy, Brandon spent a lot of time trying to find his identity. It wasn't until God reminded him (multiple times, really) to trust his real Father that Brandon found his identity in Christ. Listen to this inspiring story of how God worked, and continues to work, in his life! (For more about Brandon's ministry, see our episode "Camp Royal - Where Action Sports and Identity in Christ Collide", season 6 episode 11).

S6 Ep 13Suffering
As Christians, we are told to expect suffering. But what does that look like? In this episode, Dave and Dante discuss scripture and how it not only tells us to expect suffering, but ways in which we can persevere through it...with the ultimate goal of giving God the glory that He deserves. If you're struggling now (whether through circumstances or choices), we pray this episode opens your eyes to the light in the darkness. "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness shall not overcome it." (John 1:5).

S6 Ep 12Christian Thanksgiving 2021
"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). These words from Paul to the church in Thessalonica are the framework Dave and Dante use to discuss what Thanksgiving should look like for a Christian and Legacy Dad. A proper focus of gratefulness is aligned towards God - for He is good, and His love endures forever, and His faithfulness continues through all generations (adapted from Psalm 100). Happy Thanksgiving!

S6 Ep 11Camp Royal - Where Action Sports and Identity in Christ Collide!
In this episode, we talk with Brandon Heidemann, the founder of Camp Royal - a ministry where action sports and faith in Jesus collide! We get to hear about the start of the ministry, through the good and the bad, and hear how God continued to use Brandon in ways he never would have imagined. Listen in to this episode and hear what happens when we stop worrying about our ability, and trust God with our availability. S6 Ep 1010 Things Christian Families Struggle With
When it comes to being a Christian in today's society, there are a number of struggles we, as families, all deal with. In this episode, Dave and Dante discuss some of those struggles and provide some insight into how to work through them. Listen in and see if you're working through any of these today!

S6 Ep 9God in Action, Safari
On this episode of the "God in Action" series, we hear the story of Safari. He's a refugee who's lived in many countries in sub-saharan Africa. More than that, he's a man who followed God's call for his life and is leading the work of spreading the gospel through his ministry efforts. If you want to get a ground-truth perspective of what the spread of Christianity in Africa looks like, you need to listen in. There is a call to action in this...are you able to step up and support? We'll get you connected!

S6 Ep 8Get Involved. There's No Other Option.
This week we saw the story of a dad who took action, who got involved, and who implemented change...because he's a dad. Listen in for the inspiring story of a dad (and a bunch of his dad-buddies) who flipped the script when things were going down the wrong path. S6 Ep 7New Dad? Ten Top Tips!
As Dave gets ready to welcome a new arrow to the quiver (Psalms 127:5), we thought it would be a great time to talk about ten things that new dads should know. A lighthearted look at the part of life that makes us Legacy Dads. Enjoy!

S6 Ep 6God in Action - Beau and Rachel, Part 2
In this second part of the "God in Action" story of Beau and Rachel, we get to hear what happens when they both turned to God in their lives. What happens when a married couple stops listening to the world and completely submits to God? Listen in and hear how God uses two indivuduals who say "yes" to not only show His power, grace, and mercy, but then how He uses them to advance His kingdom and spread the gospel all around the world. This testimony is one that will leave you inspired!

S6 Ep 5God in Action - Beau and Rachel, Part 1
Our "God in Action" series is a focus on hearing people's stories of God in their lives. We often look for "biblical miracles" only to miss some of the more intimate encounters between God and his children. We pray this series emboldens you to look for, listen to, and seek out God and his work in our lives. This is the story of Beau and Rachel. We were lucky enough to sit down with this couple and hear their story, but even more so, to see a husband and wife who only made it because of God and his work! Listen in to part one to hear their past, and tune in to part two to hear where God led them after they let go and let God!

S6 Ep 4Narcissism Part 2
In part two, Dave and Dante talk about dealing with a narcissist when that person isn't you! If you're married to, dating, a friend of, or a child of a person who is exhibiting narcissistic behaviors and traits (NOT diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder), how do you respond? What sort of path can you walk in order to continue to build your legacy? Listen in; we pray you learn something!

S6 Ep 3Spiritual Narcissism, Part 1
As a spiritual leader, husband, father, or man, it is easy to fall into the trap of narcissistic behaviors. The attention feels good, the notoriety feels good. But when that "feel good" turns into habits and patterns, we enter dangerous waters. In this episode, Dave and Dante discuss 14 traits of a spiritual narcissist and how that can impact a man internally. If it isn't stopped in its tracks, it can become a major contributor to problems in all areas of a man's life. Tune in to this series to hear how to deal with this slow-acting poison!

S6 Ep 2God in Action - Joe, Part 2
Joe's story continues, and we see where God has brought Joe to today. When we "let go and let God" our perspective changes...everything changes! Hear how Joe handles being a Christian saved by grace in his workplace, and hear some advice if you're in circumstances that seem overbearing and insurmountable. God gets the glory!!

S6 Ep 1God in Action - Joe, Part 1
To kick off season 6 of the Legacy Dads Podcast, we are starting with a powerful testimony. In this first half of Joe's testimony, we hear about his circumstances - where he was sinful in a sin-filled world - and how God started to work on Joe through others. Spoiler alert...it isn't Joe who gets him out of the life he was in...but it did involve Joe "letting go, and letting God." Tune in for season 6, episode 2, to hear the continuation of Joe's story and to see just how wonderfully God is able to make things happen for His glory!

S5 Ep 31In Memory of August 26, 2021
On August 26, 2021, a complex attack consisting of a suicide bomber and small-arms fire happened at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan. 13 United States service members, and over 150 Afghans were killed in the attack. In this episode, Dave and Dante discuss the emotions that many are feeling - anger, frustration, and sadness - and how to walk through this situation by relying on our faith. Please visit https://www.taps.org to see how you can support the family members, friends, and coworkers of these, and so many other, service members.

S5 Ep 30Hindered Prayers
"God never answers my prayers!" Chances are, as a Christian, you've probably felt like this one time in your life. God's word contains plenty of instruction for how a husband and wife should be in relationship with each other. In this week's podcast, Dave and Dante discuss 1 Peter 3:1-7...but mostly verse 7. If you feel like your prayers aren't being heard, perhaps, as a husband, you need to dive into this verse and see where you can make some improvements!

S5 Ep 29Blind to the Gospel
Are you ready for some scripture? Dave and Dante discuss the "god of this world" that Paul talks about in 2 Corinthians - and ways that Legacy Dads can use scripture to stay in the fight, to battle the enemy, and to really fortify the defenses against the enemy who uses tried-and-true methods to keep people from hearing, and knowing, the gospel. Grab a bible and a highlighter or a notebook or journal and be ready to get some scriptural firepower in your arsenal!

S5 Ep 28Praying - It's Not Rocket Science
You're a legacy dad (or mom, or parent, caretaker, or whatever). You've come to Christ and know that you're supposed to pray. If you're a Christian in today's world, statistics show that we are praying less frequently, for less time, and (arguably) with less depth than in previous generations. Maybe when it comes down to it, your prayer sounds more like a prayer from a pageant contestant than someone who is trying to talk to God. If you're in this position (or anything remotely similar), this episode is for you. Dave and Dante discuss a couple of ways to pray - the five finger method, and the ACTS method - as ways to continue to develop your prayer life.

S5 Ep 275 Man Killers
Dante and Dave discuss five man-killers that are sure to take down any man who isn't properly equipped to recognize and respond. How do we deal with fear or abdication or anything in between? Listen in for some practical and biblical ways in which to protect yourself and your family from these man-killers!

S5 Ep 26Man of God, or Man of the World?
Dave and Dante are back together to discuss what it means to be a man of God as opposed to being a man of the world. Listen in as they discuss some of the aspects of an article written in 2014 (and updated in 2018) to highlight what a Legacy Dad should be focused on today.

S5 Ep 25Servanthood...continued!
In this episode, Dante brings on another special guest to talk about her faith journey, her view of what a Legacy Dad is, and more importantly, to keep Dante in check! Listen in as Dante and his daughter Belle discuss the Legacy Dad and Christian life.

S5 Ep 24The Church, or Western Consumerism?
Western church consumerism versus the church of Jesus Christ - what is our role as legacy dads and moms in this modern era of "selfish"? What does true church and worship look like? Dante and special guest, Octavian, explore the differences between western churches and what true worship should look like.

S5 Ep 23Man in Crisis Part 2 - Hope on the Other Side
In this second part of this two-part series, Dave, Dante, BJ, and Bryan discuss the rest of the phases of crisis and how Christian men and Legacy Dads can walk through it to get to a positive outcome. What is the end result of a man seeking solid biblical counsel in order to navigate a crisis? Tune into the discussion to find out!

S5 Ep 22Man in Crisis - Part 1
In this special joint-edition podcast with the Kirkmont Men's Podcast, Dave and Dante, and guests Pastor BJ Newman and Chaplain Bryan Dodge discuss crisis in mens' lives. In part 1, they discuss the Christian perspective on crisis, and start unpacking the phases of crisis. From the moment a man faces crisis, be it physical, emotional, or spiritual, the importance of having other men, rooted in faith, providing sound, biblical advice and perspective, cannot be understated. In their book, they provide parents with the tools they need to navigate a hyper-sexualized culture. As leaders of Christ-centered ministries aimed at helping families live in God's beautiful design for sexuality, Josh and Daniel are passionate about helping parents raise healthy kids — both relationally and emotionally.
