S7 Ep 38Financial Freedom Leads To Legacy

In this episode, the guys start the conversation on what it looks like for a Legacy Dad to have financial freedom. "Leaving a legacy" means a lot, and it is important for men and fathers in all stages of life to ensure they are setting not only themselves, but also their families - and future generations - with financial blessings rather than burdens. The guys talk through assessing your current situation, taking responsibility for where you're at currently, being a good steward, giving to God what belongs to God, and determining what the financial future should look like as God's financially responsible man. Future episodes on this topic are up to the audience, so listen in and let Dave and Dante know where they can take this wide-ranging topic! S7 Ep 37"Oh God, Why Can't I Stop?" with Jason Ritchie

In this episode, we had the pleasure to sit down with Jason Ritchie, author of Oh God, Why Can't I Stop? Are you sick and tired of failing? It's frustrating to fail against the sin of this world. It's even worse failing against temptation, fear, and faithlessness as a believer in Christ. You are not alone. Jason Ritchie never felt so "not right" with God as during his biggest failure. He cried out in distress, "Oh God, why can't I stop failing? I can't seem to stop. Though I pray, though I study, though I return to You, I still sin, and I don't want to." In the aftermath, he wondered: "Will You still keep me? Will You still love me? Will You still use me?" What does God say to these questions? Oh God, Why Can't I Stop? examines God's fundamental response to failure through the story of Peter's denial of Christ. It explores the Apostle Paul's lament in Romans 7:19: "For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing." Whether it is societal influences or individual choices that we are trying to work through, the answer is simple: have hope, use wisdom, and above all, trust God! S7 Ep 31Quit Porn. Happy Valentine's Day!

Porn is bad for you. Again...porn is bad for you! That's what this episode is about. Even though we all know the toxicity of the issue, it continues to be a problem. There's plenty of statistical evidence that shows what happens physiologically when you consume and get addicted to porn. There are plenty of stories of people who have tried to hide their habit and let it destroy them from the inside out. Yet it remains present, and something we must address. Listen in as the guys get real in a no-holds barred conversation about porn. If you take anything from this episode, it should be this: porn is bad for you. Stop rationalizing the behavior. Stop trying to say it's something else. You know what you're doing, and God knows. The best thing you can do is turn to Him and let Him overwhelm you with His grace and His mercy. That's the way out. S7 Ep 29Authenticity: Necessary for Christian Men

A few episodes ago (season 7, episodes 13 and 14) we discussed humility and vulnerability. In this podcast we discuss authenticity and how it correlates with those other two characteristics. In order to be effective in Christian community, we need to be authentic. Being authentic means being true to one's own personality, spirit, or character. Our sinful nature tells us to hide our truth, to not be authentic. But, as we discussed with both of the other qualities, when we are authentic with who we are and with those around us, the only thing that happens is spiritual growth in the image of God. Listen in as the guys discuss this character trait, and see if there are any areas where you could open this up in your life!

S7 Ep 27Rejoice, Pray, Give Thanks: Talking About Damar Hamlin

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thess 5:16-18). On January 2, 2023, football fans witnessed Damar Hamlin suffer a severe medical emergency, being resuscitated on the field and taken to the hospital where he went through a miraculous recovery. In situations like this, it's important for legacy dads (and moms) to use it as a teachable moment. When we see something like that happen, how do we rejoice? How do we pray? And how do we give thanks? Even in the circumstances where it is difficult to do any of those three things, we are still called to do so because it is God's will for us who are in Christ Jesus. Listen in as the guys discuss the incident and talk about how to apply this particular verse into our daily activities!

S7 Ep 26"Time" with Fox and Rob Richardson

We had the pleasure to interview Fox and Rob Richardson about their upcoming book "Time: The Untold Story of the Love That Held Us Together When Incarceration Kept Us Apart." This is yet another example that there is nothing that God cannot shine through. The twenty-one years that kept Rob separated from his wife, Fox, and their six sons was long enough. As Rob survived two decades at America's bloodiest penitentiary and Fox raised their sons solo, they never stopped fighting for Rob's freedom and for their futures against the statistical odds. All the while, it was love that carried them through. The Academy Award-nominated documentary Time introduced audiences to Fox and Rob, who riveted audiences with their relentless fight for each other and justice, despite America's broken prison system. This book tells the rest of their story. In alternating voices and intimate detail, Fox and Rob reveal what the film does not--how a person can cultivate the radical love needed to see them through any hardship and how miracles can happen on the way. As they peel back the layers of their unforgettable love story, you'll discover the secrets of perseverance and the power of a resilience that is founded on faith in a God who never gives up on us. S7 Ep 25Discipleship Series 2023: Beauty, Brawn, and Brains Part 2

The Legacy Dads continue the conversation with Jeff, Joe, and Phil to discuss the ways in which Christians, who are living in their true kingdom identity, are called to mission. Whatever sector of life you are in (there are 7), God calls Christians to "therefore go and make disciples." That involves sacrifice, effort, and most importantly, full faith in where God leads you. Listen in to this episode to hear some truth-bombs being dropped by all the guests. If you aren't inspired to go and do something for the kingdom of God after this conversation, we aren't sure what else we can do! Step 1: shed the false identity and assume your God-given kingdom identity. Step 2: get into true community with other Christians (not fellowship...but actual community...where you're vulnerable with others). Step 3: listen for God...He is always talking. S7 Ep 24"Resilient Kids: Raising Them to Embrace Life with Confidence" with Dr. Kathy Koch

In this episode, the guys interview Dr. Kathy Koch about her new book "Resilient Kids: Raising Them to Embrace Life with Confidence." From her website: Dr. Kathy Koch (pronounced "cook") is the Founder and President of Celebrate Kids, Inc., based in Fort Worth, TX, and a cofounder of Ignite the Family, based in Alpharetta, GA. She has influenced thousands of parents, teachers, and children in 30 countries through keynote messages, seminars, chapels, and other events. She is proud to be represented by the Ambassador Speakers Bureau of Nashville, TN. She is a featured speaker for the Great Homeschool Conventions, on the faculty of Summit Ministries, and a frequent presenter for Care Net, Axis, and other organizations. She speaks regularly at schools, churches, and pregnancy resource centers. Dr. Kathy earned a Ph.D. in reading and educational psychology from Purdue University. She was a tenured associate professor of education at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, a teacher of second graders, a middle school coach, and a school board member before becoming a full-time conference and keynote speaker in 1991. She has loved Jesus for years and her faith and desire to serve and glorify God is the foundation of her ministry. About Resilient Kids: Children need to believe their future is bright. The more disappointments they don't recover well from, the less likely they are to dream. When they do not process challenging experiences well it can lead to defeat, rather than encourage them to grow and mature. Far too many children don't grasp their strengths and, as a result do not believe they can overcome negative encounters. Apathy sets in. Discouragement persists. Arguments rage. Mental health suffers. Children need to be resilient and when they develop this ability and make wise choices it becomes part of their character. Furthermore, they need parents who help them to learn from negative experiences and who allow them a certain measure of struggle. In Resilient Kids moms and dads will learn the power and purpose of resilience and how to parent so as to make it more likely their children will utilize this character quality. S7 Ep 20The Road Less Traveled with Joe Svoboda

While Christianity and the Church is growing in some parts of the world, there is a noticeable decline of Christianity in western churches. Why is this? In this first of a three-part series on modern-day discipleship, we interview Joe Svoboda. Joe is the founder of "Reproducible Discipleship." Having served as a discipleship consultant for ministries all over the United States, Africa, Asia and SE Asia, Joe has had the privilege of watching believers grow in discipleship competence with results that transcended cultural barriers. Additionally, he has seen those disciples go on to disciple others, who are now discipling others, who are now discipling others. This generational view of disciple-making is one way in which the western church can start to experience the revival that is definitely needed. S7 Ep 18Identity > Resolutions

As the calendar flips to a new year, many people often take the opportunity to make resolutions to change something, or do something, or not do something...because they believe something about themselves that guides their behavior. That's all well and good, but if all of this is based on a false identity that we have come to believe, then any resolution we make will likely fall apart. In this episode, Dave and Dante discuss the importance of realizing our "kingdom identity" and listening to who (or what) God calls us to be. Once we get that implanted into our being, there's no limit to where He will take us! God's word about our identity: Jeremiah 29:12-13...you are heard! 2 Timothy 1:7...you have power, love, and discipline! John 15:16...you are set apart! Far too often, guys are expected to fly away from vulnerability. Sometimes it is perceived as weakness; other times, as effeminate. But if men are not willing to be vulnerable and know how to work through their emotions in a healthy manner, their work for the kingdom of God could be diminished. In this episode, Dave and Dante answer a listener request to talk about vulnerability, and what it looks like for Christian men. Listen in as they discuss what it is through a biblical lens, walk through some personal testimony, and encourage listeners to consider the areas in their lives where vulnerability (and controlled emotion) needs to exist. S7 Ep 12Deliverance From...Deliverance To

In this episode the guys discuss the importance of being delivered from the things that keep us from having a relationship with God...but also the importance of being delivered TO something that He has in store for us. Without a goal, without a destination, we are susceptible to continued struggle. But once we identify the target or goal, we can continue to use that as a way to move forward into the saving grace that God offers us through the sacrifice of His Son and through the power of the Holy Spirit. Listen in and be moved to action!

S7 Ep 8The Gift of Listening

It seems like society doesn't want us quick to listen and slow to speak...quite the opposite sometimes! In this episode Dave and Dante discuss the art of listening and how important it is in today's day and age. Whether it's a kid trying to tell you about their day, your wife (or soon to be wife) laying her concerns in front of you, or a brother in Christ who is confessing his struggles to you, the skill of listening - not just hearing - is one a Legacy Dad must have. Listen in (no pun intended) and see if there's any areas for improvement in your daily life.

S7 Ep 2"Praise Him" with Lauren Chandler

We were honored to welcome Lauren Chandler onto the podcast to discuss her new book "Praise Him." In this beautifully illustrated board book, Lauren's lyrical lines encourage us that in the day or in the night, wherever we go, we can praise God continually. From page to page, follow a child through her day as she goes from sunny morning to stormy afternoon and then shadowy night. Be reminded that God is always there with us, even when days are hard, and that we need only simple words to praise Him. S6 Ep 48Biblical Masculinity, Part 1 (of 3)

Biblical masculinity is under attack. God created men to be men and to have certain characteristics and traits. Yet today, it seems as if having those unique, God-given traits is something that should be hidden or diminished. In this first part of a three-part series on masculinity, Dave and Dante get into the foundations of what's wrong with men today. Why are we at the point we are at today? What does the bible say about masculinity? And how do we start to course-correct in order to be men, husbands, and fathers who are leaving a lasting legacy? S6 Ep 47Spiritual Warfare 2022

There's no doubt that spiritual warfare is happening today just as much as it was when the serpent entered the garden of Eden. While some aspects of the enemy's attacks may be easy to identify and fight, it is getting more challenging today to keep up the fight against modern societal attacks. In this episode, Dave and Dante discuss those topics and get into ways in which we can stay in the fight. It might make some people uncomfortable, and a lot of us might not know what to do. When we turn to the bible, we can't go wrong. Listen in and be encouraged to continue to persevere!

S6 Ep 43"Tearing Us Apart" A pro-life conversation with Ryan T. Anderson and Alexandra DeSanctis

Three days after the Dobbs' decision was released by the Supreme Court of the United States, Anderson and DeSanctis' book "Tearing Us Apart: How Abortion Harms Everything and Solves Nothing" hit the shelves. In their book they describe the fact that there is hope in the ruins of Roe v. Wade. From the description, "Abortion hollows out marriage and the family. It undermines the rule of law and corrupts our political system. It turns healers into executioners and 'women's health' into a euphemism for extermination." If you are a Legacy Dad looking for ways to defend the pro-life / anti-abortion stance, this book is for you.
