Tokyo 2020 Olympics: Day 14
The Tokyo 2020 Olympics are starting to wind down, but our TKFLASTANIs in competition are just starting to heat up! And we interrupt our results for a major rant about NBC's coverage and programming decisions, spurred when the feed cut out on the men's bronze medal hockey game with about five minutes to go. Today's sports program includes: Athletics Baseball Basketball Beach Volleyball Boxing Canoe Sprint Cycling - Track Diving Football Golf Handball Hockey Karate Marathon Swimming Modern Pentathlon Skateboarding Sport Climbing Table Tennis Volleyball Water Polo Wrestling. Ep 173Book Club Claire on "World Class"
Book Club Claire is back to discuss the book World Class: The Making of the U.S. Women's Cross-Country Ski Team by Peggy Shinn. Read Claire's blog Light the Cauldron and follow her on Twitter. Our TKFLASTAN Update includes news from: Chloe Kim Alex Diebold Lauren Gibbs Phil Andrews Clare Egan We also have Games Updates from Tokyo 2020 - be on the lookout for "playbooks" that will guide the Organizing Committee on how they'll manage having the Games this summer (another reason to make sure the Games happens? Insurers would be out big bucks). Tokyo's also preparing for athletics test events and will perhaps show us a different kind of torch relay. And if Tokyo doesn't work out, Florida is ready to step in. Hey, TBach, call us! We're +1-208-FLAME-IT! We also have some doping news, plus a report from the latest International Olympic Committee Executive Board meeting (guess who's very concerned about the boxing and weightlifting international federations?). And, put this new museum on your Olympic travel bucket list! *** Keep the Flame Alive: The Podcast for Fans of the Olympics and Paralympics with hosts Jill Jaracz & Alison Brown Support the show: Tell a friend: http://flamealivepod.com Bookshop.org store: https://bookshop.org/shop/flamealivepod Patreon: http://www.patreon.com/flamealivepod Paypal: https://tinyurl.com/yxkoxmcq Hang out with us online: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/flamealivepod Insta: http://www.instagram.com/flamealivepod Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/flamealivepod Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/312069749587022 Newsletter: Sign up at http://flamealivepod.com VM: (208) FLAME-IT Thanks so much for listening, and until next time, keep the flame alive!
