S1 Ep 66EP66: Alcohol, Caffeine, Nutrition, Exercise, and Acupuncture
I often speak with women that are working so hard on their fertility journey to do everything perfectly. By the time they talk to me, they are exhausted, confused, and at a loss for what do to next. If they're doing everything that they're supposed to do, why isn't it working? IVF doesn't have to feel like jail. You can enjoy life and still work towards creating the family of your dreams. In fact, when you shift your focus from being and doing everything perfectly to doing the things you enjoy and that feel right for your body that's when the magic starts to happen. Caffeine, alcohol, nutrition, exercise, and acupuncture are topics I am asked about daily. So I figured, why not answer your questions in a podcast episode! What You'll Learn What you should and shouldn't eliminate, Is Acupuncture right for everyone, Should you skip the coffee and wine, and much, much, more! "Eat the fucking cake, okay. And then eat it the next day ." - Tasha Resources READY FOR SOLUTIONS TO YOUR IVF ISSUES? ►Sign up for a strategy session WITH TASHA HERSELF!►Get a FREE Personalized Guide for Your Next IVF Protocol NEED SUPPLEMENTS? S1 Ep 65EP65 - Path to Parenthood with Kelli
Meet Kelli Kelli is not our typical Path to Parenthood story. Kelli had her first child through IVF after two rounds. When she and her husband decided to continue growing their family, they knew they would need IVF support again. She had already discovered Tasha through Facebook and was a regular podcast listener. Kelli told herself that if the first transfer wasn't successful, she would hire the FU Project Workshop to support her. Tune in this week and hear how Kelli has completely transformed. Kelli is not pregnant (yet) but would, hands down, work with Tasha and the FU Project Workshop even if she wasn't trying to get pregnant. The knowledge and tools she has learned have truly helped her transform her life and mindset. Join me this week for another inspiring story and find out where Kelli is today. What You'll Learn The power of making simple changes, The importance of having enough space and energy, The power of having to team of experts to support you, And much more! S1 Ep 64EP64: Path to Parenthood with Jessica
Meet Jessica. Jessica and her husband thought IVF was the answer to their unexplained infertility woes. A doctor would take her eggs, combine them with his sperm, and POOF - a baby. They expected IVF to work on the first round (hint, it took 4 more rounds). When Jessica found the FU Project Workshop, she was still skeptical about bringing in an additional team to help her and her husband on their fertility journey. In fact, she and her husband were the only two people that knew they were going through IVF for the first 2 rounds of treatment. It was an incredibly foreign concept to bring in additional support to assist them. After all, why would anyone need more assistance outside of the doctors and embryologists they are already working with? They're the experts, aren't they? Join me this week for another inspiring story and find out where Jessica and her husband are today on their fertility journey. What You'll Learn IVF takes more than someone combining an egg and a sperm to make a baby, The value of having the right support on this journey, Jessica's incredible mindset shifts that have made her a better wife, mother, and in her career, And much more! S1 Ep 63EP63: My Huge IVF Mistake and Lesson
At the ripe age of 33, I would have laughed at anyone that tried to tell me that it would take more than two rounds to have my family. After all, fertility wasn't my problem. My husband was the one with a low sperm count. Boy, was I wrong? IVF can be so overwhelming. Yes, it's science, and it exists to help you grow your family. However, there is a misconception that because science is involved, the probability of error is low. Join me on the FU Project Podcast this week to learn about my HUGE IVF mistake (by the way, it's a big one) and the lessons I learned from it. S1 Ep 62EP62: Path To Parenthood With Mari
Meet Mari. When we met, Mari was sad and angry. Mari and her husband had been trying for a year to conceive, but hadn't had any success. At that point they decided it was best to have some tests done. Doctors diagnosed Mari with unexplained infertility and recommended IVF, but Mari and her husband weren't ready. Instead they continued to try naturally, followed by a couple of failed IUIs. They did eventually get pregnant, but the pregnancy ended in miscarriage. At that point they knew they wanted help and support as they embarked on their IVF journey. Join me this week for another inspiring story and learn how Mari and her husband found the help and support they needed to create the family of their dreams. What You'll Learn Why prioritizing your health and mindset are so important, The value of having support on your fertility journey, How you can go from being sad and angry to being fully in love with life, What it's like to have a baby during a pandemic, And much more! S1 Ep 61EP61: Happy #NIAW: The "One Piece of Advice" from Fertilitites
HAPPY NATIONAL INFERTILITY AWARENESS WEEK!! 1 in 8 couples face fertility issues. That's why National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW) and the work RESOLVE does is so important. As anyone that listens to this podcast knows, it took me 10 rounds of IVF to have my two very expensive children. If you're on a fertility journey, you know how challenging this journey can be. When you first enter the world of the fertility challenged it's hard to know where to start. Start with RESOLVE. They have an abundance of resources on infertility, insurance coverage, getting insurance coverage, making infertility affordable and understanding your options. RESOLVE is working to make the struggle of infertility a talked about issue. Every year I travel to Washington D.C. with RESOLVE to advocate for women and families that are struggling with fertility issues. Join me this week for another inspiring episode. S1 Ep 60EP60: Path To Parenthood With Anne
Meet Anne. Anne was diagnosed with a diminished ovarian reserve and completed two unsuccessful egg retrievals (1-2 eggs total), followed by two unsuccessful fresh transfers. After joining the FU Project Workshop, she did another two egg retrievals. The first produced 4 Day 3 embryos which are on ice and then the second produced over 10 eggs and she now has 6 Day 5 genetically tested embryos (not a typo) on ice! These results are a perfect example of how one doctor's opinion and protocol should not define your entire fertility journey and how much you can do to affect the outcome yourself. Join me this week for another inspiring story. What You'll Learn The importance of trusting your gut in life and on your fertility journey, How different doctors and protocols can dramatically impact your results, The value of having an expert team as your second set of eyes and ears on this journey, And much more! S1 Ep 59EP59: Use Your Voice! (Your Vagina will Thank You!)
An open letter to all fertility clinics... Have a little more respect for my vagina. I realize that you may be used to having women spread eagle in a room while you're going about your business, but for us, it's strange AF! Give us a towel, a blanket, anything to cover our vagina, and as a result, our anus, from the room full of people taking notes, chit-chatting and getting prepped for a procedure that in theory takes no longer than it takes to insert a tampon. Yet for some reason, here I am, vagina on display, for what feels like 5 hours. On this week's episode of the FU Project podcast I'm talking about that AWFUL embryo transfer and what I should have done. What You'll Learn All the embarrassing details of that ONE embryo transfer, The power of using your voice, How to establish systems that make using your voice easier, and more! S1 Ep 58EP58: Path To Parenthood With Jena
Meet Jena. She has PCOS, had her first child via IUI (got pregnant on the second one), and then could not get pregnant with baby #2 (sound familiar?). She joined the FU Project Workshop for our experience, expertise and ability to customize a plan for her. In this chat she will share what she also was able to accomplish (other than, yes, a pregnancy) and the advice she would give someone in her same situation. Join me this week for another inspiring story. What You'll Learn Things don't always go how we expect, The importance of focusing on YOU and making yourself a priority, The value of having an expert team as your second set of eyes and ears on this journey, And much more! S1 Ep 57EP57: How I Recently Dealt with Immense Stress
I recently had one of the hardest weeks of my life this past December. I was working double time so that I could feel prepared to take a week off for the holidays (that's already stressful at any point in the year), but then my husband was diagnosed with covid and my dad was dying from covid all at the same time. Stress, whether acute or traumatic, has affected us all. We learn that stress is bad for our body and mind, but we rarely learn healthy tactics to combat it while we are in the trenches. When we don't practice emotional wellness during stressful times, we end up suppressing our emotions entirely, wrongly lashing out at another person who doesn't deserve it or we seek "comfort" in areas that provide that instant gratification that hurts us in the long run. Sound familiar? We've all been there. Thankfully, during one of my most stressful weeks of my life, I had strategies that helped me understand and process my emotions and experiences so that I didn't crumble to pieces all day, every day (note: I did breakdown, naturally, I'm human. But it could have been much worse). On this episode of the FU Project, I go over strategies for handling immense stress that don't involve pushing past and ignoring your emotions. Tune in for actionable ways to get in tune with your reality and emotions in order to handle stressful situations, like your fertility journey, better. What You'll Learn How a balanced physiology matters when handling stress What things I did correctly and poorly when handling my stress Why stopping what you're doing is more important than ignoring your emotions And much more! S1 Ep 56EP56: Path to Parenthood with Emma
Meet Emma… She had gone through one IUI and five failed transfers with IVF when the doctors started recommending surrogacy. However, she felt there were still avenues she could take to get and stay pregnant. When we met, Emma wasn't ready to give up on herself, and she wanted to make sure she got it right with her next embryo. Not only was her first transfer with the FU project successful, but she learned important tactics she carried with her into her relationships and now into motherhood. Listen to what Emma discovered about herself, what she gives credit to for finally having a successful transfer and how a cute tactic she used helped to keep her spirits up during that dreaded two-week wait. What You'll Learn Where she was in her fertility journey when we first met The struggles she had to overcome How she did the work, implemented the tools and strategies we teach Where she currently is in her fertility journey And much more! S1 Ep 55EP55: Does God Believe in IVF?
Oh yes, I'm going there. We are talking about God, Religion and your IVF journey. Religion can play a huge role in your life's decisions. It can play an even more confusing role if your religion and life goals create conflicting in ideologies. But is IVF and fertility support innately against God's will? Are you playing God by using IVF to get you pregnant? This whole God conversation started because someone thought it was wrong and ungodly for me to have my blonde haired, blue eyed children through IVF. They thought it was wrong for me to be able to choose my childrens' traits by picking out which embryo - wait, what? Choose my children's traits? What is this, a scifi movie? Personally, I thought it was wrong for them to voice their opinion over my fertility journey when they obviously knew nothing about IVF. On this episode of the FU Project, I explain why God supports IVF and why this procedure to support your reproductive system is no different than any other life altering surgery. Tune in for a healthy look at how religion should or should not impact your fertility journey. What You'll Learn How your view of God matters for your IVF journey Why you must understand the basics of IVF What you should do in order to overcome unsolicited opinions And much more! Meet Stephanie… She was confident in her egg retrievals and then they were unsuccessful. She was confident in her embryo transfers, and then they were unsuccessful. When we met, she wanted guidance on what was going wrong and to be better informed during her next steps through her fertility journey. Stephanie not only received guidance and useful information but also a fruitful community of people to cheer for her and support her along the way! Listen to how she learned to manage her lifestyle to match her goals, what it means to give up control in order to feel in control and why it matters to have a supportive group available who understand your journey. Meet Jennifer… Getting pregnant seemed like an uphill battle with both her husband and herself having fertility issues. They tried for two years, both naturally and through IVF, before they found me. When we met she had already went through 2 egg retrievals and 5 failed transfers with genetically tested embryos, interviewing surrogates as a possible option and then natural pregnancy that ended in a miscarriage. The natural pregnancy proved to herself that she could get pregnant, but she needed a new option moving forward in their fertility journey. Through the FU project, Jennifer found a community that understood her struggles and allowed her to another outlet that provided her immensely helpful support. Listen to how she was able to find her happy self again, create boundaries, and view this life-changing journey as one to make her even better than ever before. S1 Ep 51EP51: The CRAZIEST Thing I Did to Get Pregnant
From simple prayers to multi-step mystic processes, there is no shortage of weird tips, tricks and superstitions people subscribe to in order to get and stay pregnant. When you're going on your 10th round of IVF like I was, you get a little desperate for something to make you magically pregnant, even if that involves taking crazy advice from strangers. On what would be my final round of IVF, I found myself open to do anything that may potentially get me pregnant. But when I got the advice to do this crazy thing, I was skeptical thinking there was no way this could actually do anything to help my fertility journey. For days, I tried to find a loop-hole around the entire situation. On this episode of the FU Project, I talk about how a psychic's reading led me down a path to eventually using a watermelon and yellow cloth to hopefully become pregnant on my 10th round of IVF. Tune in for a ridiculous story and a good laugh over what I did to FINALLY get pregnant. What You'll Learn What it means to trust your gut when taking advice Why I bought watermelon, molasses and yellow cloth How 10 rounds of IVF will make you willing to try anything And much more! S1 Ep 50EP50: Path to Parenthood with Charlotte
Meet Charlotte… She needed IVF due to a male factor (like we did) and thought that IVF was going to create control and order in her fertility journey (like I did). When we met, Charlotte just had a miscarriage after IVF. It was then that she realized she needed support and guidance moving forward through her fertility journey. She originally joined the FU project just to get an opinion over how she should get and stay pregnant. What she discovered was her own voice and options that truly empowered her in life and on her fertility journey. Listen to what she did that she credits to her successful fertility journey and how this is impacting her life, career, and motherhood. What You'll Learn Where she was in her fertility journey when we first met The struggles she had to overcome How she did the work, implemented the tools and strategies we teach Where she currently is in her fertility journey And much more! S1 Ep 49EP49: Path to Parenthood with Heather
Meet Heather… For Heather, having her second child felt like a ticking time bomb. There was pressure to make something happen since she was getting older and the statistics of her having a baby weren't getting any better. But she wasn't ready to give up on her body's ability. When we met, Heather was 42 years old with light endometriosis and being told that she could not get pregnant without an egg donor. She joined the FU Project Workshop because of the unwavering belief that I had that she could be pregnant with her own eggs which made her know and believe it, too. And she did it. We discuss how the program gave her the resources to heal from the inside out and how paying attention to her body and intuition gave way to the necessary space she needed to get pregnant with her second child. What You'll Learn Where she was in her fertility journey when we first met The struggles she had to overcome How she did the work, implemented the tools and strategies we teach Where she currently is in her fertility journey And much more! "It basically feels like I healed my body from the inside out. The program gave clear direction, but the work and the energy I put in made the changes and made the difference." S1 Ep 48EP48: Path to Parenthood with Jamie
Meet Jamie… For Jamie, she had her first child easily through a couple rounds of IVF. When she tried to have her second child, things didn't go as smoothly. After many failed rounds and lots of frustration, Jamie felt like she hit rock bottom in her fertility journey. When we met, Jamie thought that her dreams of having a family of four may never actually happen. There was nothing technically wrong with her or her eggs, but IVF just didn't seem to be working this time around. She thought that if she had difficulty getting pregnant when she was younger, how could she possibly get pregnant now? We discuss how changing her clinic and lifestyle impacted her fertility journey and what she did to be successfully (and quickly!) pregnant with her second baby boy. What You'll Learn Where she was in her fertility journey when we first met The struggles she had to overcome How she did the work, implemented the tools and strategies we teach Where she currently is in her fertility journey And much more! S1 Ep 47EP47: Path to Parenthood with Megan
Meet Megan… She has severe diminished ovarian reserve (only makes 1-2 eggs on stimulation drugs), has severe endometriosis (two laparoscopy surgeries) and was told it would be impossible for her to have a child with her own eggs. She was at the most famous clinic in the USA with an exceptional doctor and was brave enough to leave there (and trust me) to go to a different, less known, doctor. Megan and I get real really fast as she opens up about how her physical body was responding due to a lack of space or energy for herself. Instead, it was her "dysfunctional family" that got all of her space and energy. Listen to her talk about how she got out of "victim mode" and created boundaries and healed her body and mind and got pregnant with her own eggs. S1 Ep 46EP46: IVF Together, A Couple's Journey with Kate Rouze
Is IVF feeling unfair? Are you riding the emotional rollercoaster and wondering why your partner seems to be sitting cool, calm and collected on the sidelines? It's easy to feel like you're making all of the sacrifice while your partner's life seems unfazed by the IVF rollercoaster? IVF is a huge commitment and places a lot of physical, emotional and mental demand on the female. This doesn't mean that your partner doesn't feel anything throughout the process, but they are experiencing the process through a completely different lens. IVF brings to the surface all of the little things within relationships that have been swept under the rug or haven't really been an issue up to this point. If you and your partner are struggling through the IVF process, now is the time to fix and address any miscommunication or support woes because adding a baby to the mix WILL NOT solve these. If anything, a child will only throw fuel on an already raging fire. On this week's episode of the FU Project podcast I interview Kate Rouze, our phenomenal mindset coach in the FU Project workshop. She is also an executive and personal coach, and co-founder of BeCurrent (www.becurrenttoday.com). Some of her favorite work includes supporting individuals in relationship, with themselves and those closest to them. S1 Ep 45EP45: Path to Parenthood with Erin
Meet Erin… For Erin, deciding to do IVF after trying for about a year wasn't the problem. In fact, she was confident going into IVF since there were no obvious problems with her or her partner's fertility. When we met she had done two rounds of IVF. She had everything going for her - high egg reserve at 39 and loads of embryos after fertilization. But she only has a total of 1 embryo (between the two rounds) by the end. We discuss what got her to try IVF again even with paralyzing fears that it just wouldn't work for her and what she did to finally be successful and enjoy her adorable four-month-old baby girl today. What You'll Learn Where she was in her fertility journey when we first met The struggles she had to overcome How she did the work, implemented the tools and strategies we teach Where she currently is in her fertility journey And much more! S1 Ep 44EP44: Removing the Drama From Your Fertility Journey
ARE YOU STILL IN A TOXIC RELATIONSHIP? Hint: You probably are. But it is with yourself. Handling the stress of your fertility journey is downright difficult. Fertility journeys are a perfect breeding ground for those negative thoughts to creep into your head and control how you react to your own life. That being said, regardless of whether you've heard of a Drama Triangle, you've probably been a part of one. Drama Triangles occur whenever we let our default, toxic emotional response take the reins and control how we process fear and shame. 😬 You've been a part of a Drama triangle if you've felt like it is up to you and only you to get something done. Or if you've felt like bad things keep happening to you, not because it is your fault, but because life just hates you. Or if you've lashed out or sought revenge on someone for not living up to your standards. It's nothing to be ashamed of, we've all been there. The first step towards removing the drama triangle out of your fertility journey is identifying what personality type you lean towards or what scenarios tend to elicit this reaction from you or others. On this episode of The FU Project Podcast, I provide tips and guidance to conquering the Drama Triangle so that you can overcome negative emotions and bad news in a more productive and healthy way. Tune in to learn how to leave the days of toxic emotional responses behind you. What You'll Learn Identifying the personality types in the Drama Triangle Better ways to handle annoying, sad or frustrating news How to fully remove unnecessary and toxic emotional clutter And much more! S1 Ep 43EP43: Path to Parenthood with Michelle
Meet Michelle… Michelle had completely embraced the IVF route for her fertility journey. She was pretty confident and believed she was going to get pregnant the first go-around. Flash forward through four failed transfers and learning to cope with anger and frustration, she not only got pregnant but developed a more positive, healthy mindset. When we met, Michelle had a failed transfer at her first clinic and was devastated. Together we worked to change clinics and create a healthier mental space during her fertility journey. Listen to how she totally changed her mindset and took control of her own journey instead of being consumed by bitterness. S1 Ep 42EP42: How to Survive Any Holiday During Your Fertility Journey
When you're going through your fertility journey, navigating the holidays can seem daunting: The holiday cards featuring someone's newborn or seeing a pregnant relative or hearing how one of your friends got pregnant so easily can be absolutely devastating depending on your current mindset. Then there's the "advice." Your aunt gives you her special 8-step routine to increase your fertility. Your mom thinks you need to change your diet. Someone else chimes in saying you must try this thing that their second cousin's sister did to become pregnant. While bracing for the inappropriate questions to the unsolicited advice to the newly pregnant relative making their announcement at dinner, the holidays can seem, well, gloomy and dreadful. On this episode of The FU Project Podcast, I provide tips and guidance to conquering the holiday-fertility-journey-anxiety (and making a game out of it!) so that you can feel empowered to enjoy the holiday season like the rest of them. Because, trust me, you deserve it. Tune in to learn how to confront those uncomfortable questions and love yourself during a season of constant comparison. S1 Ep 40EP40: Fertility Diet Hits and Misses with (my husband) Brian Pannuzzo
Most of us are fed ideas of what healthy and ideal lives look like from the diet, wellness and fitness industry. For women, this tends to mean we are in constant diet mode: losing 5 pounds for the vacation, a few pounds over here for the wedding, take some off over here after the holidays. Nutrition can get especially confusing when there are so many "miracle" diets and quick fixes preaching that they are the best for your health. Brian Pannuzzo is a nutrition and health coach, and, well, my lovely husband and the father to our two (expensive) children. When he is not coaching his own clients, he helps my patients identify trends in their diet and nutrition that may be preventing them from getting pregnant and how to create building blocks for a healthier lifestyle. On this episode of the FU Project, Brian and I talk about the importance of what you're putting into your body, how you're doing it, and tips and tricks for making a more nutritious lifestyle easier. Brian identifies the ideas that the wellness and fitness cultures feed us from day one and the dieting patterns it creates in our lives. Listen to find out how to reclaim your nutrition to better your fertility journey and life. Meet Melissa… The doctors couldn't tell Melissa exactly why she wasn't getting pregnant through IVF. Instead, they just gave her the (scary low) odds of her actually getting pregnant with her own legs and left the decision up to her. When I met her, Melissa was about to get an egg donor after two failed rounds of IVF. S1 Ep 38EP38: How to Co-Collaborate with Your Fertility Doctor
The relationship you have with your fertility doctor is really important. But most of the time, these "relationships" tend to be one sided, where you are expected to just sit and wait for the doctor to do their magic or for science to be on your side. Now, say this with me: For a relationship to be productive, it can't be one sided. When we think of doctors, we think of people whom we should just trust and expect to have the answers. Believing this prevents a lot of healthy dialogue from happening, especially when it comes to your fertility journey. On this episode of The FU Project Podcast, I break down how you can create a balanced relationship with your fertility doctor by examining the current structure of doctor's offices, what to look for in your visit and how to be your own advocate. When we met, she'd had 4 miscarriages and was preparing for IVF. Listen to how we successfully prepared her for IVF, how "less was more" for her personal focus and intensity towards her fertility journey (because she allowed me to take off the pressure), and how she never even got to an embryo transfer before she got pregnant. Meet Melanie… She already had a daughter from IVF previously, so why was she not able to get pregnant again? When I met her she had 3 failed transfers with genetically normal embryos and a very reluctant doctor who did not want to make any changes. It was with her last embryos that we were able to get the doctor to do things differently. She credits her fertility journey with making her a better mother and something that made her grow up a lot. Listen to this conversation about how she got over many medical issues getting in the way of her fertility treatments (and how that correlated to her fertility issues) and, when she was able to finally do another egg retrieval, how her egg count more than doubled after doing the work to clear space and create energy. Fertility issues come with a hurricane of emotions - most of them will not be positive. But coming through the process successfully requires strength, perspective and, most importantly, the wisdom to open up and be vulnerable. On this episode of the FU Project podcast, Tasha analyzes the shame and judgment we put on ourselves as we grapple with fertility issues, why vulnerability is the better part of courage, and the relationship between greatness and discomfort. On this episode of The FU Project, Tasha goes through what you need to know if you are grappling with secondary fertility issues, including all the reasons secondary issues are worse than primary, how everything changes (inside and out) between your first and second times around, and why your babies really are going to be the perfect fit for your family, no matter what. Favorite Quote "Whether you believe in God, the universe, angels, or even the child's choice of how and when he or she shows up, embrace that. Love that, be open to that. Understand that it's not up to you. This is somebody else's choice. And whatever happens, however he or she chooses to show up, who chooses to show up is going to be perfect. Ep 29EP29: Can Environmental Toxins REALLY Affect My Fertility with Ashleigh Frager
So much of where our passion comes from has to do with where we've been. Once we experience the cure for our own issues, we often can't help but find a way to help others access it, too. Ashleigh Frager is a holistic wellness expert, homeopathic practitioner, and founder of clean-living brand Back to Basics. After experiencing critical health conditions caused by environmental toxin exposure, and through her own journey back to health, her perspective on how we approach wellness radically shifted. Ashleigh pursued a doctorate-level education in homeopathy, opened a thriving homeopathic practice, and developed an innovative and highly effective approach to address the root causes of her clients' symptoms and health conditions, which she uses to help clients overcome a wide range of conditions, including infertility. Through coaching and her work with Back to Basics, she aims to empower you with all of the tools she has acquired through client work and her own health journey. On this episode of the FU Project, Tasha and Ashleigh discuss creating an environment that allows your body to thrive in its own power, how food and product companies slip toxins under the radar, and how to navigate choosing healthier products and discerning tricky labels. Listen in for new, vital information on how to detoxify your life. What You'll Learn What your symptoms are trying to tell you (hint: it's probably not what you think) How Ashleigh harnesses our body's natural abilities to make Back to Basics products both powerful and safe Why switching to natural products doesn't have to mean sacrificing quality, and what you could be risking when you use dangerous household products And much more! Favorite Quote "I firmly believe that our bodies are highly intelligent systems, and we can never tweak them as perfectly as they can themselves. So I'm of the approach that we just give our bodies the best fighting chance that we can to be able to thrive, and part of that is creating an environment where we're not constantly taxing our systems, especially not with endocrine-disrupting chemicals." - Ashleigh Frager How to connect with Ashleigh Back to Basics (use coupon code fuproject) On Instagram READY FOR SOLUTIONS TO YOUR IVF ISSUES? ►Sign up for a strategy session WITH TASHA HERSELF!►Get a FREE Personalized Guide for Your Next IVF Protocol NEED SUPPLEMENTS? Ep 28EP28: Is My Negative Past Affecting My Future Pregnancy with Sarah Nolan
Most of us are so caught up in our own stress that we fail to remember how vitally important peace, stillness and clarity are to every aspect of our lives, inside and out. Ep 22EP22: Breaking Negative Narratives with Actress and Addiction Specialist, Rosa Blasi
"Change what you can and accept what you can't." - Episode 22 (5:57 - 6:02)Tasha Blasi IVF Uncovered Podcast The four-step process to emotional freedom. This was the topic for my latest episode of the FU Project podcast. You can listen here. Are you held down by your feelings? Stressed and anxious day in and day out on your fertility journey? As it just so happens, my older sister can help. Rosa Blasi has premiered in over 300 episodes of television and film over a 25-year career in Hollywood. However, the beloved actress has more than just incredible acting talent and good looks going for her, with a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology and a specialization in addiction recovery. Learning the proper skills to handle your default emotional responses will free you from years of a negative narrative! "It's important to remember that feelings are temporary and they are not facts." - Episode 22 (18:50 - 18:56) One of the foundational teachings of Buddhism states that the fastest way to suffering is an attachment to the outcome. How could you possibly detach from the outcome of your next round of IVF, you ask? The concept to accept what we can't control may feel impossible. The good news is there are so many factors you can control on your fertility journey - diet, exercise, sleep, and most importantly, your feelings! The four-step process to regain power over your emotional well-being. Acknowledge your negative narrative. List 5 things about yourself that make you a piece of shit. Yikes! Now list 5 things about yourself that are powerful and positive that make you feel proud. Are you stumped? Why? Humans have a generally negative narrative. We tell ourselves stories, that we believe as fact, about who we are. But they are not facts. They are lies based on feelings that damage our self-esteem. Stop playing the comparison game. One of the greatest encouragements to low self-esteem is our comparison climate. Say goodbye to social media! It's a dangerous platform that exacerbates anxiety and intensifies negative narratives. Remember that your fertility journey is your own. Remove yourself from the comparison game to remove that feeling of "less than." Recognize your feelings are not facts. All of these feelings aren't facts. They're just feelings. However, when you sit on feelings long enough you strengthen the neurotransmitters connecting these feelings in your brain. The brain begins to believe they are facts. The facts create lies. The lies make up a strong negative narrative. You have the power to re-route those feelings and thoughts and choose a different response. Separate yourself from your thoughts with grounding techniques. When you can't get out of your own way, distract yourself from yourself. Try out one of Rosa's recommendations from her list of 50 ways. Or download a guided meditation app to slow everything down. If none of those work and you fear a panic attack, ground yourself with the 3-3-3 exercise. Identify three things that you see, hear, and physically feel. Box breathing will also do the trick as you slowly count your inhales and exhales. "It's up to us to alter the stories of our lives, to change the narrative. But like anything else worth getting, it's hard to do and takes practice." - Episode 22 (12:30 - 12:39) Self-awareness doesn't blossom overnight! It takes practice to change your narrative into a positive one. You're going to fail at first. That's okay. Work through the four-step process and shed your default emotional responses and addictions to stress and anxiety. Remember to start small with what you can change. Then accept what you can't. Place the rest in the universe's hands as you sing out your intention. An answer will come soon enough. She has recently been described as a "stealth guided missile of love" who nurtures radical transformation that sustains real and practical change. If you want to not only survive but thrive, then look no further. Audrey believes you can step into a place of limitless wholeness as soon as today! "Every system wants to move towards wholeness. It's not like you're creating it. It's already there. Sometimes it just gets covered up with a crust." - Episode 21 (16:37 - 16:49) Are you willing to do whatever it takes to create an experience of wholeness for yourself? Take charge! Here are five unique ways you can begin the revolution. Take off your Wonder Woman cape. Hey you! Stop being a hero! The truth is, whether you want to hear it or not, nobody actually needs you. Every individual has a responsibility to manage their own feelings and actions accordingly. Hang up that cape and focus on you. Remember your self-worth is not determined by what you do but who you are. Exercise the power of "no." A big piece of embracing wholeness is by honestly expressing everything you're not. This means you may have to, gasp, disappoint some people. Better disappointment than burnout! Build a fluid relationship with the word "no" to create a healthy border around your sources of energy. Step into a mindset of growth. Life is not meant to be a linear path. There will be many twists, and turns. However, the world is actually conspiring in your favor. Open yourself to the "new!" Obstacles are opportunities for growth, no matter the outcome. Transformation can be a grand adventure. Dump the serious attitude and try to have some fun! Get really friendly with fear. If you're interested in any kind of personal development, then you will experience fear. The next time you do, recognize where and how it shows up. Learn to participate as an ally and shift your physiology. Then you will gain the power to steer your thoughts in the direction of your choice. Be willing to show up and look stupid. It's common to hold oneself back in fear of sounding, acting, or feeling ridiculous. Can you allot some grace for the awkward and clumsy moments in life? Perhaps engage with a sense of humor? Loosen up! It's impossible to always say the right things and move in graceful ways. Just show up, give it your best, and shrug off the rest."Don't let fear be the stopping point, the point where you put your brakes on and say, 'that's it I'm not going any farther.' Find your breath and learn how to participate with fear as an ally. - Episode 21 (40:27 - 40:41) You are already whole, complete, and fully capable. What would happen if you actually believed this as truth on your fertility journey? If the idea seems far fetched or scary, then start small. Pick just one of the five points above to work on this week for a sense of wholeness. Keep in mind that mastery results from consistent daily practice. The sooner you start the sooner you can find yourself, your confidence, and step fully into motherhood. Begin today. Come to the edge and take one small step forward. A life of fulfillment awaits. Ep 20EP20: Elevating the Conversations Around What It Really Takes to Become Pregnant with "Pregnantish" Creator Andrea Syrtash
"We always hear first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby carriage. That is not necessarily true anymore for millions of people. We're skipping steps." - Episode 20 (24:33 - 24:43)Tasha Blasi The IVF Uncovered Podcast The real topics mainstream media neglects to cover on fertility issues. This was the topic for my latest episode of the FU Project podcast. You can listen here. The ultrasound image on your friend's social media feed hits you like a sucker punch as you sink into the couch from another unsuccessful round of IUI. It's another "whoops I'm pregnant!" announcement, the third in the last five weeks (not that you're counting). Are you the only one physically struggling, financially hurting, emotionally worrying, and medically fighting to become a mother? No! You're not. Mainstream media has failed to raise public awareness on what it really takes to become pregnant. In fact, they have neglected to openly discuss fertility issues at all! Andrea Syrtash is on a mission to break that taboo. The Relationship Expert and Creator of "Pregnantish" has created the first media website for those navigating through fertility issues and treatments. You, along with every single, couple and LGBTQ, are invited to join in the conversation! "There were enough of us, my friends and family, who had gone through infertility. People needed a lifestyle site exclusively dedicated to this topic." - Episode 20 (14:07 - 14:18) After the removal of a massive fibroid tumor in 2012, Andrea had no idea it would be almost a decade before she became a mother. It wasn't until 18 fertility treatments, 2 drop-out surrogates, and 1 volunteer surrogate (Andrea's cousin) later that her healthy baby girl, Arielle, arrived. During that time, Andrea was struggling to find any online publications beyond medical advice that offered personal support for those dealing with fertility issues. It was out of this frustration for well-balanced material that the concept of "Pregnantish" was born. Andrea wanted to read real stories from real people with real fertility issues. Now, you can! Here are some of the helpful topics Andrea has elevated into conversations. The Non-Linear Path of Fertility. The stories you read about celebrities who get pregnant after one round of IVF are what we call extremely lucky cases. Most women experience many twists and turn on their journey towards motherhood. Expect the unexpected. Some moments will be magical, others heartbreaking, but all eye-opening. Buckle up! Stay open to all the options available to you. New Perspectives. Fertility issues can define and punctuate your life. However, it is possible for you to resist being completely consumed and maintain your sanity. Ask yourself what is working well in the midst of this terrible situation? Try to take inventory of all the good in the midst of your pain. Andrea found the mantra, "I'm sad and I'll be okay," to be extremely helpful as she worked to find new perspectives in her own journey. Messy Break-Downs. Admit it. Fertility issues suck! They break hearts, challenge relationships, and push couples to their physical, emotional, and financial limits. You don't have to wear a brave face all the time. In fact, it's totally okay for you to have a good old-fashioned break-down. That's right. You can cry it all out because this journey is hard. The Gift from All of This. We know it's hard to believe right now. But your perfect baby will come. When they do, you will never take for granted being a parent. That doesn't mean you're not allowed to pull your hair out and complain every now and then! It just means the significance of the gift of parenthood is cherished even more so because of your incredibly hard journey. "You don't need to know the where, the how, the who, or the when. You just need to know the what, which is "I WILL be a parent." - Episode 20 (45:45 - 45:56) Life is not a straight line. Nor should you expect your fertility journey to be. There are so many small details and nuances that go into becoming pregnant. However, there is only one thing you should really know at this point. Do you want to be a mother? Then you will. Trust that everything else will fall into place. When you feel discouraged, uncertain, or confused connect with the community of others on "Pregnantish" for support. You don't have to quietly deal with all of this alone. We are all here for you. Ep 19EP19: Easily Answering Impossible Questions with Intuitive Healer Isabelle Otero
"Once you hand over control, it's a relief of pressure. You ultimately know that the universe, your angels, God has your back." - Episode 19 (48:31 - 48:45)Tasha Blasi The IVF Uncovered Podcast The spiritual techniques for getting pregnant. This was the topic for my latest episode of the FU Project podcast. You can listen here. Are you doing everything right and questioning why you still can't get pregnant? Isabelle Otero may have your answer. Isabelle is the Founder of Crystaline Heart and is an Intuitive Healer who works to open channels of enlightenment. Through her own battle with debilitating anxiety, she has learned how to properly heal through the use of hypnosis, heavenly angels, meditation, and visualization. She believes that you can break free from whatever is holding you back from reaching motherhood by connecting with the psychic energies of this world! "When it gets too hard, or there are too many roadblocks, the direction you are headed is most likely not the best way to go. Stop and regroup." - Episode 19 (34:31 - 34:41)There is so much more to pregnancy than meets the eye. Are you ready to delve deeper and create space for your precious child? Here are four spiritual techniques Isabelle highly recommends. Hypnosis. Before you shrink into a corner, we're not referring to carnival tricks that make you cluck like a chicken in a crowded room of spectators! Modern-day hypnosis is way less humiliating and far more helpful. It's a painless technique that enables you to tap directly into the subconscious mind. There, within the pool of early memories and experiences recorded from childbirth, the therapist moves through a set of skilled questions. The hope is for you to clear out decades of garbage. But willing active participation is key for successful and immediate results. Heavenly Angels. Believe it or not, the spiritual world is a powerful realm we all have access to anytime, anywhere. Angels are real messengers with the primary purpose to bring peace and help. All you have to do is ask! It doesn't matter your religion, ethnicity, or sexual identity. These ethereal beings are non-denominational and universal. Go ahead! We challenge you to reach out with both large and small requests from a successful round of IVF to being able to quickly find an available parking space. Just remember divine timing doesn't always align with yours. Stay patient. Meditation. The best way to hear the messages of the universe in regards to your impossible questions is by meditation. No, you don't have to sit perfectly still on a round cushion in double pigeon! You just need enough of a pause that will create space to connect and listen in. That could mean a bike ride or an hour of yoga! The more you continue to engage in your spiritual practice the more you build your intuitive muscle. However, keep in mind the nature of duality. An exploration into the spiritual is bound to reveal both light and dark forces. Visualization. The practice of visualization is an absolute must for mothers-to-be. It's a powerful tool for the manifestation of our true heart's desires. Begin to imagine or physically write out your unborn child's features and characteristics. Realize that their energy is already here. Don't be afraid to connect with them in the midst of their transformation to our earthly world. Your love is key to their arrival. The heart emits the highest frequency of energy like a lighthouse across the sea. Its beams of love will call your unborn child into this world. "Love creates miracles. Love transcends time and space." - Episode 19 (1:04:11 - 1:04:15) The exploration of spiritual techniques can provide you answers to your impossible questions. Though they may be unconventional, hypnosis, heavenly angels, meditation, and visualization are all highly efficient. I would know! I've been one of Isabelle's clients for the past five years. There's just no denying it! Something greater, stronger, and entirely good is behind the scenes of your fertility journey working for the best possible outcome. The clock of divinity knows the right time for your pregnancy. Are you willing to place your trust in its hands? Surrender. Ep 18EP18: Creating Lives and Laws with Chick Mission's Amanda Rice
"This isn't about politics. This is about policies that will really help women and couples to build the families of their dreams." - Episode 18 (30:36 - 30:53)Tasha Blasi The IVF Uncovered Podcast The barriers young cancer patients face in their fertility journey. This was the topic for my latest episode of the FU Project podcast. You can listen here. Amanda Rice has caused some great commotion in the legislative branch of the U.S. Federal government. For good reason! Did you know that most healthcare insurance companies deny coverage for cancer patient's fertility preservation? This social advocate and three-time cancer survivor is on a mission (a Chick Mission to be precise) to reverse this! Through her nonprofit organization, Amanda advises, educates, and fundraises to overcome the many barriers young cancer patients face. There's plenty of work to be done, and you can help! "Between 95-97% of cancer patients diagnosed as young adults, survive. What does life look like after you have this battle, crush and beat cancer? What's next? Can they not have a biological family?" - Episode 18 (6:12 - 6:38) When Amanda was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014, she quickly realized a terrible trend. The waiting room is often filled with post-menopausal women and scarcely young adults. There is a limited amount of information and resources available to young cancer patients who dream of motherhood. Let's create a conversation to get the facts straight! Inexperienced Doctors. Unfortunately, most cancer doctors haven't been properly trained for pre-menopausal women. The population of 75,000 young adults diagnosed per year is relatively small. However, nothing can justify the fact that less than 50% of doctors actually speak with their young cancer patients about their fertility options. Fertility Options. The ugly truth is a woman can become sterile after undergoing various drug therapies and cancer treatments. But there is hope! If you're really running out of time, you have the opportunity today to manipulate your cycle and freeze your eggs. Reach out to a fertility specialist or head to ASCO, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, to see what is recommended. Cancer Lingo. There are so many factors that could affect a young cancer patient's fertility. A specific diagnosis of the type and location of cancer, whether it is estrogen or progesterone related, etc. will lead to a recommended plan of attack. This could include medication, chemotherapy, or radiation far away or precisely to the reproductive organs. It's important to understand your specific case and risk profile before jumping in. Limited Healthcare Coverage. While Amanda was able to fund her own egg preservation without coverage, she knew others wouldn't be able to. It was out of this frustration that Chick Mission was hatched. Though the nonprofit is still fairly new, it has already funded 27 women in 4 different states and changed 6 state laws. The most recent win was the newly passed New York state budget. Thanks to Gov. Cuomo insurance companies are now mandated to cover cancer patients' fertility preservation. It's a huge step, and Amanda looks forward to expanding the same mission into Texas and California. "It doesn't take that much money to help these patients. It sounds overwhelming - $5-10,000 dollars -that's a lot of money. But if you compare it to what happens after treatment, an insurance company would be spending hundreds and thousands of dollars to try to get these patients pregnant." - Episode 18 (17:02 - 17:17) There are three ways you can get involved and aid Amanda's mission! Join Amanda's advocacy work politically or simply attend local events. Make a donation! Your contribution will help offset the costs for a cancer patient's egg preservation. T Point any young adult seeking fertility guidance through their cancer diagnosis towards Chick Mission. If you are a young adult currently diagnosed with cancer, and wondering what's next, then take heart. You have so many fertility options available to you! Use your voice to ask questions and advocate your needs. Whatever this journey brings, we'll face it together. Ep 17EP17: How to Improve Your Fertility Experience with Mindset and Relationship Coach Kate Rouze
"The most effective change requires doing things differently both on a mental and a physical level." (4:40-4:49)Tasha Blasi The IVF Uncovered Podcast Kate Rouze, our mindset and relationship coach for the FU Project Workshop, teaches women how to improve their mindsets and relationships during the crazy fertility process. This was the topic for my latest episode of the FU Project podcast. You can listen here. The key to changing your life is to realize that you can actually change and that there is a huge mind-body connection. This happens when you break the internal victim dialogue of "I am this, because this happened." Where are you on the Drama Triangle? The Drama Triangle: Victim, Villain, Hero You are in Drama Triangle anytime you criticize yourself or someone else, are stressed out, or have repeating emotions and thoughts. The Drama Triangle model, created by Stephen Karpman in the 1960s, represents three different roles you can play while in drama: Victim - "Poor me, I can't …" Villain - "It's all your fault; if you would do this, then I could ..." Hero - "Let me help you, because you're incapable." When filling one of these roles on the Drama Triangle, anyone you are interacting with will play one of the other two roles. Most of us are in some version of the Drama Triangle dance all day long, every day, with everybody. "Everything on the Drama Triangle is a flavor of victim. The antidote to victim is empowerment, which is saying, "I am creating my life.'" (EP 17 33:59-34:10) While you can't choose what someone else says or does, you can choose how it affects you. You can choose to be a victim or you can choose to grow and be stronger because of it. Relationships and the Fertility Journey The most frequent relationship question we get from women on the fertility journey is how to get more support from their partner. If you're asking this question, the answer is simple. If you want more of something, start by appreciating what you already have. It's when we start thinking we have a lack that relationships go downhill. "I receive exactly the amount of support that I am capable of receiving. So if I want more support, my job is not to go tell my partner what they're doing wrong. My job is to go inside and expand my own capacity to receive." (EP17 42:49-43:24) The fertility journey can bring tension and friction into our relationship with our partner. When this happens, awareness is the first step to change. Often the issue at hand isn't the REAL problem. When you give yourself the space to look at the underlying issue, you'll understand yourself and your partner in a new way. It's amazing to see how this intentionality can melt away those issues that have caused one million fights for partners over the years. The Most Important Skill for Women Struggling with Fertility The fertility journey brings up every edge in your psyche that you haven't been willing to address. The most important skill you can learn is to flow with and then let go of those emotions so that you're not carrying around stress, anger, bitterness, and resentment. This fertility stuff is intense. Women who choose to work through these issues have a strong chance of getting what they want because they've allowed themselves to receive the support they need. Give yourself the freedom to dig deep, adjust your mindset, and take one step closer to holding that precious baby in your arms.
